i genuinely don’t understand people who see V as a seperate character, and actively make the choice to ignore the fact that he is literally vergil. like what. are you fucking serious. yes, V is independent, but he exists because of his whole self. fragmented, yes, but a core piece nonetheless.

it makes zero sense to me considering it’s drilled into us that he is vergil. that is a key part of vergil. same goes for urizen, but that’s a different context.

“i see him as a seperate character.” that’s literally destroying a massive part of dmc lore you cannot be serious. maybe it’s just me or i’m being dramatic but honest to god, i actually cannot fathom it. every time someone says this i recommend they read Visions of V and they always just. refuse to. the dmc fandom is SO confusing to me, actually. it makes me beyond frustrated.

also—the people who say that V is seperate from Vergil just so they can ship him with Nero and pretend the ship isn’t incest are SO funny. if ur gonna ship NeroV, at least fucking own it. don’t be a pussy. so funny when they refuse to tag spardacest when that’s literally what it is.

*disclaimer that this is NOT me criticising harmless AUs and people’s art/fanfiction, it’s more so the people who choose to ignore what is literally canon and shoved in our faces.

*ALSO (omg i cant shut up) the belief that V is somehow a ‘gentleman’ and is ‘kind’ astounds me. we’re talking about the same guy who tormented a child in VoV and blatantly lacks empathy. the same guy who knew he was related to nero and had no problem using him for his goals. that’s what makes him a good character, let him be evil thanks. and YES i am fully aware that V learns to see things differently, but that doesn’t change his actions and words.

As much as I find Dante fans who hate on Nero annoying (you don’t have to like Nero or anything but a lot of people are really toxic about it is the problem) but I feel like SOME NOT ALL Nero fans can be just as toxic.

Mainly because some of them will do anything and everything to make Dante look like an asshole in order to prop up Nero as the “true hero of DMC” or “The real successor of Sparda” (which completely disregards everything about Dante from his story and character arc) and it honestly just feels disrespectful to the series as a whole considering Dante was always the heart of the series, even after Nero was introduced that didn’t change Nero just grew to the point where he can share that spot with Dante. Like cool we have two kind and heroic badass demon human hybrid warriors I think that’s awesome personally.

also the fact that nero adores dante and has looked up to him the moment they had a connection. nero wouldn’t be who he is without dante, and vice versa.

SOME(!!!) nero fans genuinely think they’re better because their favourite is the more ‘niche’ of the three. which never fails to make me laugh lmfao.

conversely, the amount of dmc fans (on tiktok specifically. shudders) that trash on nero for being ‘cringe’ and overuse the deadweight jokes after 6 whole years are just as irritating to me like… come on. u can dislike nero, but what on earth do u gain from calling him a sissy? i could go on a whole deep dive about how so many young men hate on nero because he’s not as toxically masculine as they perceive dante and vergil to be, but yeah that’s a whole other conversation.
