the fallout show is proof that "live action" versions of something can be well-received by an audience, and it's largely because it follows an entirely new story that exists within a familiar setting rather than rehash something to which people have already emotionally connected. i love animation and personally think it's a superior medium for telling certain types of stories, but i wonder how things like the HTTYD remake would have been received overall if rather than being a remake, it were a film that took place within the same world but elsewhere in its timeline with new characters and dragons. one can only speculate in a timeline where creative risk is actively discouraged in boardrooms.
