He was half asleep when he heard the knock, and he rubbed at his eyes. He sat up from his precarious position on the couch and stood. He eyed the door. He hardly ever had visitors. With a sigh, he went over and opened it, scratching the back of his neck.

His eyes widened when he saw Killian. He blinked a few times, wondering if he was still dreaming.

“Killian?” he asked. His voice was still hoarse with sleep. His eyes ran over his brother, noting the differences in his appearance. But it was definitely him. 

“How....how are you here?”

“Bloody hell.”  He cursed under his breath, not sure if he was actually ready for this. He’d never been one that could be mistaken for a coward, but knocking on this door seemed almost impossible. He knew who would be on the other side, knew that he wanted nothing more than to see his brother again, but it still was hard to knock. He did it, eventually, and then stepped back with his hand and hook held behind his back and his eyes on the ground, as if it would be easier if only he didn’t have to look directly at him at first.

He grit his teeth together in a snarl, his knife steady at Robin’s throat, though the rest of him was shaking. “I can’t do that,” he bit out, pressing the knife slightly and drawing blood.

Robin growled lowly, eyes fixed in his twin as he felt the knife up against his neck, scraping against his stubble with a quiet rasp.
