A funny thing about introducing a new queen into a hive that has lost its queen (or one that you’ve killed because her brood was too fighty). 

You have to introduce the new queen into the hive with these special queen cages that are stopped up with candy, and are open enough to let the hive smell the new queen, but not open enough that they can get in there and kill her.

Because they will kill her. 

When you first put the new queen in she smells like an intruder, but by the time it takes the bees to eat through the candy and free the queen, the queen’s pheromones will have had time to work and the hive will have gotten used to her.

From the outside this kinda seems like: 

“Yeh, we were all going to murder you to death before, but we’re full of candy now, so we’re cool. Oh yeh, and how about you be the new queen and stuff. Yeh, that’s cool too.”

People in the Pegasus Galaxy have a chance of stepping through and then floating off into space. They're all so brave.

today's stargate thought is how much i LOVE that everyone in the pegasus galaxy uses the stargate.

like all through SG-1, 90% of the cultures we meet either have no idea what the stargate is or believe it's reserved for godly use only. basically no one but us uses it to explore. for the first few seasons, it took so much math to calculate the stellar drift that all the supercomputers in the SGC could only spit out a few addresses a month. even the super-advanced aschen thought it only went like ten places!

so it was such a genius choice to make stargate travel so common in pegasus that no one even remarks on it. yes, demons pour out of it sometimes and try to eat you, but the rest of the time it's like hopping on the light rail. people use it to go shopping. teyla has personal friends on fifteen planets. the first twelve-year-old john sheppard meets knows more valid gate addresses off the top of his head than SG-1 knew after like four months of gate travel and that will always always delight me.

Wraith Headcanons

Organic Ships - Ships can grow leathers and silks for use in clothing. Guide be wearing a hot boy silk blouse under that coat for sure.

Fashion Very Important - Idk who is making clothes especially on hives without humans? But it's everything. Different cuts and styles representing different lineages and ages.

Hair very important - The more elaborate hair the more you show off. Gifting hair accessories is very romantic. The Queen doing your hair is the ultimate way to show off being favored.

Communal bathing - Different ranks = different baths. Or some of your bros just having a bath together in their quarters all platonic and sometimes not.

Do wraith have hobbies? - Carving combs and hair sticks out of wood? Leather work on their clothes? Crafting jewellery? Creating gaming boards and pieces?
