WIP Wednesdays

Well, @captainswanwipwednesdays , I have done more writing this week... for the same story.

Here we go.

The trio ended up in Misthaven where August goes to let her parents know the latest developments.

“So, Swan… care to divulge why you've brought me home with you. If I'm meeting your parents already, I'm afraid they're going to find me a little worse for where.”

Emma pulled him up short before they moved out of the forest and the castle came into view. “I have something to confess.”

“I've found that when a woman says that to me I'm in for an unpleasant conversation, Princess.” Killian smirked. “That was what you were going to say wasn't it, that you're a Princess of whatever land you've brought me to.”

Emma bristled. “Well yes… but it's more complicated than that. You see, I'm Princess Emma Nolan of Misthaven and the Enchanted Forest. The daughter of Queen Snow White and Prince Charming. I believe you've heard of them.”

Killian stared at her, open mouthed. “I have heard of them, darling, but the stories of my world failed to mention you.”

“They don't mention a lot of things…” she muttered under her breath.

As Killian took this new information in, Emma and he continued their walk up the stone path towards the castle gates.

I'm back....

Last week came and went on a blur, and I didn't manage to write much. I've added a little to my story for this week, though, @captainswanwipwednesdays

As soon as Killian took a hold of the princess' soft, warm hands he felt a warmth wash over him. She clearly felt it as well. Her eyes snapped up to his and they widened in surprise. At the same time as their eyes locked, a warm wind whirled around them, and they heard August gasp in shock as the creatures he was battling suddenly disappeared. 

The wind died down as suddenly as it started, but Killian and Emma remained hand in hand. 

“What was that?” Emma asked, still wary of the stranger that had appeared. “Do you practice magic?”

“No love, I'm just like you. A Traveler out of time in this mysterious place. As for how those creatures vanished… my guess would be as good as yours.”

“Fine… but I'm not your love,” she bristled. 

“As you wish.”

I Knew I Loved You, chapter 4 for WIP Wednesday

Weeks 1-4 for @captainswanwipwednesdays.

Context: August is telling all the other guys in the Love Is Blind cast that Emma asked him to propose. Killian tries to hide it but is upset about it. Liam goes all protective big brother and Emma knocks him down a few pegs. This is at the end of the convo.

“So, we might see more of each other, aye?”

Emma noticed the similarities in tone between the Jones brothers as he spoke. She could hear the mixture of snark and playfulness. “We might, if things continue to progress between Killian and I.”

"Heaven forbid I should stand in your way, right?"

"You better not, buddy. I’m warning you now. I don’t take orders from anyone, especially assholes.”

He chuckled. “As I have found out. You knocked my self righteous arse right on its tail. Note to self: do not mess with Emma Swan.”

Much to Liam’s disdain Killian became more like a pirate, pillaging and plundering his way through time rather than the fresh faced eager adventurer he started out as. This greatly concerned him and he knew if something wasn't done soon he'd lose his brother one way or another; either through the travels, or simply because Killian forgot who he was as a person. 

When she knew her time was drawing to an end, Alice gathered both her sons close to her. “I need you both to promise me that you'll always be there for each other.”

They nodded solemnly, at a loss for words. 

Alice took hold of Killian's hand before he could make his escape. “I know you've met your soulmate, my love. You will get to see her again soon and when you do you need to fight for her. It'll be worth it to allow her into your heart and help you find who you are again. Let her. My only regret is I'll never meet her.” She wiped a stray tear from her cheek. “Give her this ring when the time's right.”

“Thanks, Mam. I have met someone and I can't stop thinking about her… but we've not even spoken.”

“You will soon, son. Oh, and Killian, I know you're a grown adult now but I hope you'll still listen to advice from Liam every once in a while.”

Killian chuckled. “I'll try.”

“That's good enough for me. I hope you're not too old to give your mam a hug.”

“Never,” he said, as he proceeded to climb onto the bed next to his frail mum holding her close as she slipped into a peaceful sleep.

Emma swatted him across the chest good naturedly. “I'm sure when they see this even they would agree. After all this is the mythical city of El Dorado and that is a fucking golden temple. Now let's get on with what we're here to do.”

“Yes, ma’am.” August pulled out two stools out of his satchels. He handed one to Emma.

“Thanks.” Out of her own satchel she took out her sketch pad and immediately started making notes of the colors she could see and what noises she could hear. Emma then began to sketch.

Next to Emma, August was writing his story of their trip to the lost Incan city.

At almost the same time, both Emma and August were brought out of their creative zone when a very good looking man came rushing towards them. The man stopped briefly to smirk at Emma before winking at her and running off again.

“Did you just see that, August?”

“I did indeed, Your Highness. That man was not from around here…”

And that was the moment that an eighteen year old Princess Emma Nolan realized that she was not the only Traveler in the world today. There was one thing that Emma knew… those blue eyes would haunt across all of time and space.

Oh look, I'm finally participating in my own event... more WIPS!

Week 4 🕛 The WIP that has gone the longest without an update (have pity on us readers please)

Finally jumping on my own bandwagon lol - technically this is the WIP that's gone the second longest without an update, but still almost a year so I think that counts. I was hoping it would be ready to post today but then the smut fairy had other ideas....

Anyway here's a sneak peek at the next chapter of Not Broken at All

Chapter 16

“What happens to the bodies?” she asks, looking back at the dead, carefully wrapped in sheets on the deck.

“We bury the ones who made it here at sea. Neverland takes back the rest.” 

Emma frowns, eyes darting to the shore. “What do you mean it takes them back?” 

“They become the shadows that live in Dark Hollow, whispering to Pan, finding children, his way of keeping an eye on the outside world. He’ll come at sundown to collect them.” 

“They become the shadows?” she swallows, cold dread tasting bitter at the thought of all those kids having to become Pan’s creatures, forced to do his bidding forever. “The boys?”

Wendy nods and her stomach drops. 

“What about the ones who died here? Will they be shadows too?” 

She shakes his head. “Neverland magic can’t touch this ship. Whatever enchantment’s on it is powerful enough to keep even the darkness away.” Neverland can’t find you here. 

Emma hears her sigh when she looks back out at that beach. “Don’t even think about it.” She’s thinking about it. “He gets to keep his winnings. Those are the rules of the game. Those rules keep us alive.” 

She doesn’t answer, only gives the captain a small nod, thoughts still spinning with the cruelty of it all, that even in death these children can’t escape Pan. Wendy puts a hand on her shoulder, the gesture surprisingly consoling, the mask slipping again. “You’re not the only one who wishes it could be different.” 

Emma nods, grim and defeated, and Wendy pats her shoulder with a tight-lipped smile before turning towards where some of the children have started to stir. 

She wishes she could say she thought about it longer, or at all, really. But all she can think of is every single kid she knew growing up, all the ones who fell through the cracks, the ones who were given up on or abandoned, all the adults who threw up their hands and said there was nothing they could do - that was just how the system worked, that rules had to be followed. Fuck that. 

“Are you fucking kidding me?!” Wendy’s shout echoes above her, cut off by the water when she plunges into it.

“So, do you make a habit of injuring people you have met?” Killian asked, sipping at the spiced rum in his glass.

“Only if they deserve it.” Emma smiled suggestively and added, “Or if they beg for it.”

“Oh?” Killian asked innocently. But, his eyes were dark with want that told her he knew exactly what she meant.

“Yeap.” She popped the “p” playfully.

“And,” Killian replied, his voice a low rumble, “Do you ever beg, Swan?”

“Only if they deserve it.”

“Mhmm. And, if you haven’t earned it? Would you beg, then?”

So this is my favorite because its one I started a while ago and kept coming back to. This week inspiration struck... and I have finally finished it. So I guess this is also a sneak peak to the chapter that will drop on Friday.

It isn't long before the hex bag is burned, taking away the curse that was on Killian and I, and the incantation is ready for Mordred and Morgana to consume. I hand the small bottle to them, smiling tentatively at Morgana before stepping away to give them space.

As I make my way to Killian and my parents, I can't help but overhear the conversation between Mordred and Morgana.

“It was never about being able to defeat you,” Mordred tells Morgana. “I really did want to help you, but it became dangerous the further you went from your humanity. I hope that one day you can find the love and happiness you've been seeking all these years.”

“I’m starting to see that. And for what it's worth, I really did love you and wanted to give you the home all young children should have.”

With those words shared, they clink their bottles together.

“To second chances and new friends,” Morgana toasts.

Mordred nods in agreement and together they drink the potion in one go.
