Theo didn't want there to be an issue with Vic and him dating. Regardless of what had happened in the past, Theo wanted a fresh start and he wanted to be able to move on. What happened in the past, it was his job and Theo will admit that he had made a big mistake the day that Michael died. It wasn't going to be easy to move on, especially for Travis, but he wanted him to see that he was a good guy at the end of the day and that he truly had feelings for the woman. 

This was the most natural way that Theo had met someone. Just running in the park one day, and then the two got talking. It was nice, and Theo, he had a genuine connection to Vic which was why he stuck around as he wanted to explore that. Vic was going through a lot, however, and as much as it made it difficult for things in their relationship to move on, he didn't want to be seen as someone he's not. Theo was loving, and he was caring and wanted to give Vic the time that she clearly needed before moving things along which was why he stayed and wanted to be there.

Holding her close to his chest, Theo pressed a kiss to her forehead. "I want back off then. I'm not going anywhere and I will help you as much as you can, okay? If I do anything that oversteps that line, then tell me. Just, we don't know if something is going to happen. We both work in a dangerous line of work but I know that I want you to be the person that I come home to after every shift. So don't think something is going to go wrong. I know it's easier said than done but try, for me?" Theo's hands moved to her shoulders and he took a step back. "I really like you, Vic and I'm here, and I hope you know that?"

Vic, she has been through a lot since losing Ripley. Not that she would admit everything she was feeling because and wasn’t. She was just hurt that all of this happened at once. But then everyone was wanting her to move on. Saying she deserves to be happy. Not that she doesn’t agree because she does. But she wasn’t in a rush where she had days where she felt that loss more then others at this point. But Theo, he was like no one she has ever met and maybe that is why she was scared of getting too close to him.

Theo was everything she didn’t think she would find in someone. He understood just where she was coming from when she had doubts and allowed for her to just take in everything that was happening. To say she was lucky was an understatement. Theo was caring and that is why she went past her comfort zone since Ripley and asked Theo to stay with her. To sleep with her and hold her all night.

As she made herself seen from getting changed into pajamas and seeing him sitting on the bed, Vic took a deep breath and knew that Ripley would want this for her. “So um — you look like you’re ready for bed. Did you want to watch a movie before bed or?” She doesn’t know why she’s nervous. Maybe it was because she didn’t know where this was going but she knew what it felt like and she was scared of something happening to him just like it did Ripley at this point.

The whole upset between him and Travis was difficult, and it always had been. Theo went from having two really great best friends to one dying and the other one hating him. During that time, and even now some days, Theo doubts himself as a firefighter. He know himself that being captain is never going to happen for him, and he is glad about that. Some days he can't help but blame himself for what happened that day when Michael died. However, he also knows that he has grown as a person since then, and even as a firefighter and he had to try his best to move on, but not forget about what happened. He just wished that Travis wouldn't hate him still.

The thing with Theo is, he was always a relatively understanding guy. When he heard about what Vic was going through after they started talking, it didn't push him away. He knew there was something between the two so the least he could do was show Vic that he was there and willing to give her all the time that she needed to come to terms with things and come to terms with potentially being with someone else.

"I know, I know and thats why I never want you to feel rushed. If there's ever a point you feel that I am, just tell me. Okay? This is all about you. I just want to give you all that I can. If it's still too fresh for you, then I understand and I can back off. So tell me as well if you don't want this." As much as that wasn't something that he wanted, he knew that forcing her to stay was never an option. So, holding her close to him, Travis got himself comfortable and held her in his arms. "I'm just me."

Theo and Travis had a past. It was one that Theo wanted so much to get through and come out the other side of. He wanted to prove his worth to Vic, but also wanted to prove to Travis that he was the same guy that he was before. What happened in the past, wasn't something that Theo liked to bring up, mainly because it was the worst moment in his life, and he didn't like to be remembered of it. Theo lost one of his best friends, and he would never, ever forgive himself for that. He also lost Travis as a best friend in the process and it was a difficult time in his life. Being around Travis, he was reminded of the tragedy, but he knew he had to stay strong and prove to Travis that he was still a good guy.

Theo also had to be strong for Vic. Despite the two of them seeing each other, she was still grieving the loss of Ripley, and Theo was going to stay by her side until she was ready. It was understandable that all of this was a lot for her, and situations like that are difficult to move on from. He wasn't to come across as being too forward, especially tonight when Vic was clearly feeling a lot. So, the least he could do was give her some reassurance. "Take all the time you need, and I will be here. I just don't want to push you too far so we'll take it all at your pace." It was what Theo was willing to do given that he was beginning to fall for her already.

Doing as she says, Theo pressed play and sat back in his seat comfortably to watch the movie. Throughout, occasionally he would glance over at Vic, trying to gage how she was feeling at this time. He didn't want to do anything that would be too much for her.

There was history between Theo and Travis, and it made things a lot more difficult when it came to pursuing things with Vic. However, Vic had already been through enough the last couple of months, and the last thing that he wanted to do was to make things any harder than they had to be. So, at times he would back off, and give Travis the time that he needed to catch up to the fact that Theo was and always would be a good guy, and what happened to his husband is something that will live on in his mind for a long time. All Theo wanted to do was move on from the tragedy. He suffered greatly after it. So, if he kept trying he hoped to win over Travis' friendship, and Vic's heart.

Vic herself had been through a lot, and even though they were trying things out, Theo knew that it wasn't so easy for her to just move on. It was difficult to see her like this because he knew that she was a lot more sprightly than what she was letting on. However, even so, he still was loving the idea of just being there for her, and being the person she needs in such a difficult time of her life. Theo wasn't pushing things between the two, and was more than happy to do things at her pace. So, if nothing was going to happen that night, then he was okay with that. All he wanted was to spend time with her.

Moving over closer to her, Theo placed his hands on her shoulders. "Alright, alright, I'll take it. You know I'll always be here for you. It can't be easy, what you're going through and I know you have Travis and Miller but, you can talk to me too, or we can do things that will take your mind off it. So, if a movie is what it takes, then a movie it is." He smiled softly at her, hoping that she could relax just that little bit more than what she was. Letting go of Vic, Theo scrolled through movies to watch before eventually landing on a movie that he hoped she would like, and he paused it until she came through and the two of them could get comfortable.

As much as it should be known, Theo hoped that Travis wouldn't paint him out to be the bad guy. He woke up every night thinking about what he could have done differently when that day happened. It made Theo doubt himself as a person, and a firefighter. It took a lot for him to keep going, never mind work alongside Travis on several occasions. Knowing too that Vic was close friends with him, Theo was reminded of all that had happened but he didn't want to ruin things. Everything was perfect and he knew that if Travis were to say anything, then it would all be over. At least, he thought it would be. So, he had his reservations about things too sometimes.

After all that he had heard about what had happened to Vic, Theo knew he had to be there and be the guy that she so needed. Ripley was clearly a big part of her life, and he didn't know if he was going to live up to that but all he could do was try. The last thing he wanted to do was make Vic feel that she had to keep going with things, or push herself too much. So, Theo went at her pace for everything. All he wanted was for her to feel comfortable and safe around him.

"You don't need to thank me Vic, you know that. The last thing I want to do is push you away. I know it was a big thing, and I want to be there the best that I can. I know all of this is probably strange so, I get it. We will go at your pace, whenever you want to move forward, we can. So we can start with a movie and go from there." He nodded his head, a smile forming on his face as he watched her get off and walk towards the kitchen whilst he scrolled through and landed on a movie that he thought the two of them might enjoy.

Nothing was ever easy in life, as much as he wanted it to be. This was a good example of that. From the moment Travis found out about Vic and Theo, it was difficult to prove that he wasn't a bad guy, even though he was far from it. Just like Vic didn't want to be known as the girl who lost Ripley, Theo didn't want to be known as the one that didn't protect his team. Theo knew that he was good at his job but these things happen, whether they like it or not. Firefighters know that they might not make it home that night, but its part of their job, and the risk that they have to take.

From the way that Vic was acting, he was worried that she didn't want to do this tonight. Though he knew not to go any further than a cuddle for now, Theo just wanted to try and be a normal couple but if Vic wasn't ready for that then he wasn't going to force her. With her hand now in his, Theo listened intently to Vic, just wanting to see what she was wanting to do.

Nodding his head, Theo allowed for a soft smile to show on his face. "I want this too. I'm not going to pressure you into anything, not until you're ready. However, I think tonight we could do with a comedy. What do you think? And, whatever you're drinking, I'll have."

When Theo went running in the park during the pandemic, he never expected to run into someone like Vic. She was funny, and she was outgoing and that was exactly what he seen in someone. He liked it. Though, with everything came its challenges. Theo knew Travis and his husband Michael. They were all good friends from working in the same station together but when Michael died, Travis began to hate Theo. Being captain of that station, Theo had the responsibility of everyone and losing Michael on the job was a big deal, and the last thing that he wanted. So he understood Travis’ hatred for him. It made things difficult but it didn’t mean that Theo wanted to stop, if anything it made him want to keep trying with Vic.

Just like him, Vic had been through a lot. He was there to listen to her issues and he didn’t want to push her into doing anything that she wasn’t ready to do just yet. Tonight was a big deal, it was one of the first times Theo had stayed over with Vic. He took a seat on the edge of the bed, trying to gage where Vic was going with this. Sensing her nervousness, Theo reached over and took her hand in his. “I don’t need to stay if you think it’s too much. But if you want me to stay, then a movie does sound pretty awesome if that’s what you want to do?”
