Tear Droppin’ New Year
I decided to kick off my new year with a little road trip somewhere a little warmer than Louisville, I hitched up my new to me tear drop camper and I was on my way! First stop Asheville, NC! I spent only a half a day here, even though it is one of the best little City’s in America, especially if you enjoy a laid back atmosphere and craft beer. I parked my tear drop at a campground down by the river and had a chance to relax and unwind

I made a few pictures from the blue grass parkway, I tried to catch sunrise but a lack of planning had me running a little late.

My next stop was Charleston, SC. I had never been there before and it was supposed to be a good 10-15 degrees F warmer than Louisville. It was on the first day but the second day it was rainy and cold. I managed to wake up early on both mornings and grab some pictures.

I am looking forward to many adventures with my new to me Tear Drop!!

Toblerone - How I made the shot
Tumblr media
Assignment #14 for Project 52 Pros is a product shot that we art directed. I had recently bought a bunch of Toblerone chocolate bars to give away as small Christmas presents, so I figured I would make a table top shot of the chocolate bar.
Toblerone is a very recognizable chocolate bar, I thought it would be best to include a box to provide instant recognition of the brand name. I found a nice piece of dark vinyl tile that I had purchased months back for use in table top photography to serve as the table top for my chocolate.  I took a few test shots but something was missing. I decided to add some shaved chocolate in front of and behind the chocolate bar to make the image a little more interesting. The shaved chocolate also reflected my softbox nicely for some highlights.
After I had my lights setup and my composition the way I liked it this is the image I was able to create straight out of camera.

I was not happy with the chocolate and how many flaws it had, so I spent some time in Photoshop to clean up the chocolate along with doing some dodging and burning to make some of the highlights pop. I was quite happy with the final image (See first image in the post).
Here is a quick snap of my setup.

I used the following equipment Fijifilm X-T2 with the 35mm f2 lens, Flashpoint XPLOR 600 strobe in the 28″ x 28″ softbox overhead and for the spray light on the background I used a speedlite.
The two white cards in the front provided something for the chocolate to reflect.
