Michonne was so cunty from the very beginning, she was serving body, looks, battle skills, had jokes, was good with kids, knew how to work in a team. Her skin was so smooth she looked clean even when they were scavenging through the woods for weeks. What choice did Rick really have but to make her his wife? He saw the jeans with the glittery belt through the fences and was done for.

I'm tired of reading "if you're asking for new thg books then you're not different of the capitol" NO! Just fucking no!!! Capitol citizens are addicted to the hunger games bc they wanna see district kids killing each other.
Personally, I don't want a new book to read abt the game itself and by what I see, most of the fandom don't wanna read abt the games either. I wanna know abt Johanna's family. How was her life before they killed every one she loved. Idc abt how many did she killed or how it happened. I do care to know abt her (& Finnick, Mags, Wiress and others) as a person/human. That's totally different from the capitol, since they used to dehumanize the tributes.
Also, even tho I love thg and I totally understand that it's a mirror of many things happened in our current society, those books are still FICTION! Those characters don't exist. Hunger games are not real. It's abt time for a lot of you to understand the critics but without forgetting that at the end of the day it's just a fictional book. Not that serious

Peeta Mellark is an integral member of the four D12 victors. He is literally the sunset on the reaping! How is this not clear? I’ve never wanted to report people for bad literary analysis more and I’m only half joking. It has forced me to commit a cardinal sin: analyze in anger!
1. Him being chosen by absolute accident is the point. Not only does he represent every single other tribute who simply gets chosen because they live in a messed up country but he represents how even with some odds being in your favor (older siblings, merchant family, being white, being popular, etc.) you are still very likely to be victimized by the oppressive structure of Panem.
2. When Haymitch says, “But she was smarter than me, or luckier” - the luck is all the people around Katniss who created the circumstances for her to lead a successful revolution (her father teaching her to hunt, the arena having woods, Rue healing her with leaves, Thresh not killing her, Haymitch consistently giving her support, her mother teaching her aspects of medicine, on and on and on) and Peeta is the number one, most important part of her luck in the first book. She has someone in the games actively putting her life before his… are you kidding? There is legitimately no better luck than that.
3. Even if we take Katniss out of it, Peeta is so impactful as a victor because most of his scenes would not be cut/doctored. What’s there to edit out? Instead, the viewers get a full view of him loving a girl so selflessly, using trickery and strategy instead of violence, keeping himself alive through art, joking on literal death’s door, and sharing so much of himself with the audience it becomes harder for them not to see him as a real human boy. How rare do you think that is for the games? Haymitch and LGB are caricatures of themselves in the games, playing roles that flatten them down. Even Katniss becomes one dimensional on screen without Peeta (and Rue, of course). It is also heavily implied that he does not kill anyone during the games (in a straightforward way) and even if you count Cato or the girl from 8 or even foxface, it’s never him hunting them or seeking out a kill - again how rare do you think that is to see on screen for Games viewers?
4. I didn’t think this needed to be said but: Katniss dies without Peeta in the first games. a) she goes for the bow and dies in the bloodbath; b) she is hunted and killed by Careers; c) she is killed by game makers because there’s no love story angle to keep them from just burning her entirely; d) she dies from tracker jacker stings or Cato because Peeta doesn’t defend her or tell her to run… I could go on…
5. But even if she does win and wins alone - the victory means as much (I would argue less than) any other rebellious victor winning, certainly less than Haymitch’s win. The biggest rebellion for their games is that two of them win! This is legit the only thing that distinguishes them from any other sympathetic, kind child who would have won the games. Like if Haymitch or Finnick or Wiress winning isn’t jarring enough for the Games to end… why do you think Katniss killing Peeta and winning solo would be? It would not.
6. And finally, I cannot stress this enough: There is no peaceful end to the rebellion or the trilogy without Peeta. “Peeta’s a whiz with fires” (HG) for a reason! Collins, over and over, shows us how fire can get out of control and destroy even those who are innocent and who you love (Gale, Beete, Peeta’s family, Haymitch’s family). If everyone really burns, there’s no one to clean the ashes. The reason not everyone burns is because of people like Peeta who can coax the flames in a way that is nurturing and consistent. I mean…. “Peeta fashioned some kind of incubator” is such an obvious detail. Those goslings don’t hatch without Peeta, life does not go on in peace and joy without Peeta.
It is no coincidence that when Maysilee says Lenore Dove got the “jump on us all” (in being a rebel), she is referring to LD using orange paint to make protest art!
We must stop pushing Peeta Mellark out of the narrative! He is literally the sunset on the reaping!

Prompt time
The morning after the "you love me real or not real" Haymitch starts to make jokes at Peeta and Katniss about the noise or that they have a glow. But then he starts to see the happiness between the two look exactly like him and Lenore Dove
PS. Do these prompts have to be a certain rating or can they go the explicit?
Hello and thank you for this lovely little prompt! Prompts can be any rating at all, I absolutely love writing explicit stuff :)
Nothing to Survive
I’m halfway up the steps to Katniss and Peeta’s, already thinking about the bitter taste of a cup of hot coffee, when I find the damn door’s locked. That’s new, and mildly inconvenient, since I wasn’t planning on knocking like a civilized person or anything. Peeta’s usually up before the sun, and he always has the door unlocked for me since the three of us started having breakfast together a few months ago.
I’m just raising my fist to knock when the door abruptly clicks and swings open, revealing a disheveled but smiling Peeta.
“Haymitch,” he says, stepping aside and allowing me to walk in. “Sorry about that, got a late start. Katniss will be down in just a minute.”
It’s curious for me to rise before them, but I just shrug and throw myself in my usual chair at the table while Peeta goes to the refrigerator to retrieve whatever he’ll be making.
Katniss emerges a minute later, moving faster than she needs to, her hair half plaited, and a shirt that’s definitely not her own billowing around her midsection. She wordlessly starts the coffee before sidestepping over to where Peeta is whisking eggs in a bowl.
“Need any help?” she asks Peeta.
“I got it, is the coffee on?” he replies.
“Just started it,” Katniss confirms.
It’s the way that she rubs his arm and fixes his hair that sets off my alarms. Katniss is about as affectionate as a houseplant, and Peeta is as consistent as the seasons changing every year. Things are starting to add up and if I think what happened did happen, I say it’s about damn time. I smirk to myself as Katniss sits herself down across from me.
“Oversleep?” I ask conspiratorially.
Katniss raises her gaze to me and scowls. She knows I know, and it just spurs me to continue.
“What’d you two do last night?” I continue. Not an unusual question from me, we check in on each other, make sure the other hasn’t finally snapped. We frequently talk about how our days or nights were. I eye Katniss’ shirt. “I trust it wasn’t laundry.”
“Haymitch,” Katniss growls. “Don’t.”
“What?” I ask, raising my hands in mock surrender. “I’m just checking on you two.”
Peeta turns around and catches my eye. I see the smirk on his lips, and it’s all the confirmation that I need.
“Well, it’s about damn time,” I finally say, and Katniss slams her hand on the table.
“Haymitch!” She grits out. “I said don’t. Can’t you just listen for once?”
“I could,” I tease, taking a steaming mug of coffee from Peeta when he hands it over. “But that wouldn’t be like me, would it?”
“Alright,” Peeta interrupts. “Food is ready.”
We serve ourselves in silence. Scrambled eggs, bacon, and fluffy pancakes are piled on my plate and I dig in, stuffing my face with Peeta’s flawless cooking, stealing glances at Katniss and Peeta as they chat with each other about how they’re going to spend their day.
“Thought we could walk down to the lake later if it’s not raining,” Peeta says in a hushed tone. He’s speaking to Katniss only and their conversation is not meant for my ears, but I listen anyway. How can I not?
“Can we bring the hammock?” Katniss asks, taking a bite of her bacon.
“You planning to nap through the whole afternoon?” Peeta asks with a grin.
“Only if you’re there, too,” Katniss replies in a tone that I’ve never, ever heard from her before.
They share a glance, and it immediately takes me back to days in the meadow with Lenore Dove. The lazy bliss, the banter… the love. I know she would have adored these two just the way I do, even if I don’t tell them enough, if ever. They know of Lenore Dove now, since I told them all about her while they worked on their memory book and now that they know, I feel like it’s ok to say something.
“You two deserve this, you know,” I tell them, cutting into their domestic bliss. “After what you went through, what you’re still going through. To still have each other… that’s something special.”
I see Katniss soften a bit, and I know that she’s thinking of my Covey girl and all I told them about her. Peeta smiles, and I know he’s thinking of her too.
“She’ll never be forgotten, Haymitch,” he tells me. “Not only is she in our book, she’s in your heart. Keep her there.”
I nod, not sure of what to say, not used to this sort of conversation between the three of us.
“I will,” I croak out, and I don’t say anything else, because for once, they look like kids with nothing to survive, and hell, I’m not about to ruin that.

Plutarch starting out as a "journalist" for Capitol News is absolutely fascinating and I think makes perfect sense. Obviously there's not supposed to be any such thing as real journalism in Panem but I suspect that Plutarch originally took his role as a "journalist" at complete face value. I think he went in genuinely thinking his role was to inform and educate the people of Panem, only to realize that his actual role was to create propaganda. That is something that could serve as a "radicalizing" moment for someone who genuinely wanted to be a journalist.
That all said, Plutarch is an example of the classic white liberal/leftist who becomes aware of the horrors of systemic oppression and develops a desire to stop those injustices, but never truly unlearns what they were taught. The reuse of the word "propo," the fact that Plutarch continues to manipulate teenagers to create content, the fact that he sees Katniss as a player in a larger political movement just as he saw Haymitch that way, makes it all quite clear that Plutarch never really unpacked the way that he has been taught from day one to dehumanize people from the districts.

Lou Lou (aka my Lou Shayla💔)
Lou Lou was truly one of my favorite characters from “Sunrise on the Reaping”. I also see her as a nod to the Black girls/women and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW)— ppl who usually go missing and no one, especially the government, usually notices.
