You can really tell what my mental health is up to lately because I've hard launched myself back into my wips... we're renaming characters we're remaking picrews we're restructuring plots we're investing in our imagination! And you are all locked in for the ride btw
#throwing myself head first into writing so i dont do it off a roof. etc.#it definitely also helps that i need to figure out a concrete pitch for my second yr project/lock down a supervisor#im reading this woman's books rn (natasha pulley) to see if she'd be a good fit and so far im really enjoying it but also a little worried#my worldbuilding may not be as. centerfront or up to par as hers. hence the authorial grind#of course i could also just go with someone else but she's the only one who does proper high / immersive fantasy so we'll see#notnow

honestly you all are so annoying because motherhood IS interesting but fandom people are simultaneously obsessed with deciding that every woman has motherly qualities and completely disinterested in actually exploring motherhood as a role that informs a character. I do think exploring a character being a mother can be wildly interesting if they are canonically one, but because of misogyny, people just view motherhood as a totally unremarkable naturalized state that all women must inhabit!

how do Jabirian alchemists handle the fact that things have multiple names? if a dog is metaphysically composed of D-O-G, is it also, in some other sense, composed of A-N-I-M-A-L and C-A-N-I-N-E? is my dog Spot also composed of S-P-O-T? is that composition identical among all dogs named Spot?
Oh good question. Iirc there was a single construction for Jabirian balance in the mind of Allah. We may call dogs many things, but within the mind of Allah is the true dog formula.

one concept im super into is that like. being a vampire is hard. there are ways to make this easier, but those mostly involve joining a coven. so young vampires are vulnerable to being preyed on (ha!) by the coven system and locked into a society created by people older and richer and much better connected.
like. getting a job is hard bc your movement is restricted during the day. the covens have agreements in place with multiple people across multiple industries. they can help you get a job that is remote work or night shift, but you have to join the coven (agree to abide by their rules and participate in their conflicts with other covens) and also agree to give them ten percent of your earnings.
finding food (assuming you’re a moral person who doesn’t want to kill people) is hard. you can eat animals. you can attack people and feed on them without killing them, which is assault. you can try and buy donated human blood from hospitals. but guess who controls most of the black market human blood trade and doesn’t want to sell it to you at a fair price? it’s the covens! also, the covens have arrangements with people they drink from directly, so it’s not like they need the human blood, but being in control of the trade gives them a lot of power in the community.
a lot of times, your options as a vampire are: live in a beautiful, luxurious base where you get free food and accommodations, are able to get a job, have protection from hunters, and have people around that you can talk to, OR, live in poverty, isolation, and fear. covens as organized crime families where it’s really, really hard not to join one of them.
#every day this website tries to trick me into caring about vampires. sometimes it really succeeds#insp
