They say grief brings clarity. For Rory it brings Logan. When her grandfather's death brings her home for the first time in years, Rory isn't expecting to see Logan. She isn't expecting the way her breath catches when she sees him, or how easily the silence between them slips into something familiar. The timing is wrong, but it still feels right.

Rory sank onto the couch in the hospital waiting room, her eyes fixed on the worn fabric as if mesmerized by its patterns. The argument with Logan still simmered beneath her surface, refusing to dissipate. She felt like she was drowning in the weight of her own frustration and disappointment.
Lorelai settled beside her, wrapping a comforting arm around Rory's shoulders. "Hey, kiddo, are you sure you’re okay?"
Rory took a deep breath, her eyes welling up with tears. "Mom, I don't know if I can do this anymore. Sometimes I feel like I'm just going through the motions, you know? Like, I'm just pretending to be happy, but inside, I'm dying."
Lorelai’s expression softened as she pulled Rory into a gentle hug.  “Oh, sweetie. What’s going on? You can tell me anything.”
Rory hesitated, her voice barely above a whisper.  "I... I feel like Logan and I are just... growing apart. We’re not the same people we used to be. And I don’t know if we can ever get back to who we were."
Lorelai leaned back just enough to search Rory’s face, her brow creasing with concern.  "Rory, you’re scaring me a little. Is everything okay?"

Logan broke away from the kiss, his eyes still locked on Rory's. "I'll be right back," he whispered, before turning and heading into the bedroom to answer his phone.
Rory watched him go, her heart still racing from the kiss. She turned to her mom, who was trying to stifle a smile. "What?" Rory asked, feeling a blush rise to her cheeks.
Lorelai just shook her head, "That was...something."
Rory's blush deepened. "He's just in a good mood, that's all."
Lorelai arched an eyebrow. "You both seem to be in pretty good moods, ever since you came home from the Gala at the Windsor Club."
Rory attempted to brush it off. "It's just holiday cheer I guess?"
Lorelai laughed. "Holiday cheer? Is that what we're calling it nowadays? I guess you can name my next grandkid Noelle."

"Your hands are so warm!" Rory cooed, "like little toasty hot pockets – pepperoni ones, because they're the best."
Logan chuckled, trying to open the hotel room door while cradling Rory in his arms.
Logan chuckled, struggling to open the hotel room door while holding Rory in his arms. He hadn't planned on getting a room, they had hastily reserved a room in the parking lot of the Windsor Club, knowing that they couldn’t do what he wanted to do in Rory’s mothers bed. However now, he was realizing that Rory was a little more than tipsy. "I don't think I should have let you have so much to drink."
"I'mnotdrunk," she slurred, the words tumbling out of her mouth at breakneck speed.
"Oh, I'm pretty sure you're drunk," Logan replied with a smile. "Lower your voice, it's late."
“It’s like three a.m. isn’t it?” Rory asked, and then began to croon, singing the old Matchbox Twenty song: "It's three a.m.... I must be lonelyyyyyyy...."
She leaned in close, bringing her lips to Logan's ear. "Looooggggaaaaan" she whispered loudly, "I'm not drunk. I'm just... twirly!"
The lock clicked open, and Logan pushed the door wide. "Okay, let's get you into bed."

"You think it's beautiful, don't you?" Logan's voice interrupted her reverie. "I mean, it’s not as stunning as you, but pretty nonetheless."
Rory turned to see Logan standing behind her, holding a steaming cup of coffee from Luke's diner. He offered it to her.
She accepted the cup hesitantly, taking a grateful sip of the warm brew. "How did you know I needed this?"
Logan shrugged. "You've been running non-stop since we arrived, with barely three hours of sleep. Figured you could use a caffeine boost."
Rory's face lit up with a smile. "Thanks."
He gestured toward the road. “Mind if I walk you home?”
She shook her head. “Not at all.”
They strolled quietly down the snow-lined street, the only sound being the soft crunch of boots on fresh snow.
“You’re quiet tonight. Everything ok?” Logan asked softly.
“Just thinking about the first time I brought you here.”

Logan and Rory, once deeply in love, have drifted apart after ten years of marriage. The weight of Logan's family business and shattered dreams has taken its toll. When Rory requests a divorce, they agree to keep it hidden from their two kids until after the holidays. However, fate intervenes, and a family tragedy brings them to the charming town of Stars Hollow.
As they navigate their complicated emotions amidst the festive atmosphere, can the magic of Christmas and the spirit of Stars Hollow reignite the flame that once burned bright between them? Will Santa Claus work his magic, or will their love remain a memory of the past?

reblog if you believe fanfics are as valid as books that were published and sold by authors who write as their main careers. I'm trying to prove a point

“See? Bringing Bernie and the Stars Hollow Gazette into the 21st century is way more important than hanging around the house with us.”
He stole another glance at the baby. “Nothing is more important than my girls. I don’t want to leave her just yet. ”
Rory rested her head on his shoulder, joining him in watching the baby sleep. “Your girls. That never gets old.”
“I miss her already.”
She smiled. “I’ll call you at 2 p.m. when she’s practically purple from crying and I'm covered in baby spit up and see if you still miss her.”
“I’ll still miss her. I wish I could just stay here with you and her. She’s already so much bigger! She’s growing so fast, I don’t want to miss anything. What if she says her first word while I'm at work? Or takes her first steps? What if. . . ”
“What if I told you she’s only 6 weeks old, she’s not going to do anything except eat, sleep, and poop.”
“I just didn’t know how much I could love somebody I just met. I would move heaven and earth for this little girl.”
