🕯COC 2024 Wrap-Up❄️

The Carry On Countdown of 2024 has quite unfortunately come to an end. We hope that everyone who participated had an incredible time and that the entire fandom enjoyed all of the spectacular content from this year's fabulous creators. The admins sure had a blast feasting on all of the art, writing, crafts, baked goods, newsletters, content lists, audio clips, and fantastic media of all kinds!

We sincerely hope everyone will remain inspired to create even more wonderful Carry On related content into the new year.

But before we say goodbye to you all, it’s time to welcome new people onto the Page of Honour!

What you need to do to get your place on the Page of Honour:

You need to have completed all 30 COC 2024 prompts on their set days (If you posted a prompt within a day or so of its set posting date that’s perfectly fine, but, for example, if you posted a prompt for Day 8 on Day 11, that’s a bit too late. Please use your best discretion; if you think you posted as close to the prompt date as you could within the 1-2 day range, please apply for the Page Of Honour! We want to honour as many creators as we can <3)

You need to DM @carryonmylovelies with an explanation/link of where to find all of the work you posted for this year’s countdown (Can be simply saying what tag everything is under on your blog, or a link to your ao3, etc.)

You’ll also need to let @carryonmylovelies​ know whether you want your blog or another platform where you posted your content (such as ao3 or instagram) linked on the Page of Honour. You can only choose one.

We hope we made this clear, and please remember our ask box is always open for any questions you may have :)

Carry On Countdown Day 31: Where are they now?

Dev and Niall have been banned from Target due to their inappropriate use of shopping trolleys. They are channeling their energy into sending each other smutty texts instead.

Fiona turned out to be an exceptional great aunt… until she gifted Lucy her first vape. Baz supervises all visits now. 

The merwolf fell madly in love with bunBaz. It was a tearful separation when this bun took off to his permanent home in @bookish-bogwitch's SnowBaz shrine. 

Winged Baz is on his way to the UK. It’s a long flight. He is extremely displeased about it, so @hushed-chorus better have some tea waiting for him when he arrives. 

And Making Tarts Simon is being held hostage inside a cake until @thewholelemon comes to rescue him. He can’t wait to bake many tiny treats for her and her family when she finally takes him home. 

As for the doll maker herself? She has a lot of feelings about COC being over --- primarily relief that her fingers can finally heal. She is also extremely proud of herself for completing this ridiculous undertaking.

In all seriousness, this project was truly ridiculous! I spent two whole weeks on the map alone. I rarely keep what I make, so each doll was made specifically for this challenge and took 8-12 hours to hand sew. In the end, I think it was worth it. COC brings me so much joy every year. I hope I could bring you a bit of joy this season too.

@rimeswithpurple made all this possible with her enthusiastic yes when I asked if she could redraw the buildings for my advent calendar

@iamamythologicalcreature and @thewholelemon helped me brainstorm every possible angle into the prompts when I needed to fill all thirty days

@hushed-chorus wrote up a storm so Winged Baz's chapters could be done in time for his debut

Finally, a huge thank you to you. Your likes and shares here, on Instagram, or on the Discord kept me going on the days it felt like my fingers would fall off, which were many!

Carry On Countdown Day 30: Something New

They are girl dads!

It will have to be a photo with my cell phone again because I can't use my scanner yet, but I'm very happy to have finished it and I liked the result.

I really enjoyed this COC, it's the first one I've participated in and I did it for several reasons. First, because I love the trilogy and it's always a pleasure to be active in the fandom. Second, because I wanted to start learning how to draw and there's no better way to improve than practicing every day. Third, because I wanted to see if I could be consistent enough to manage to post something every day, and I did!

The comments from the admins really made me smile every day, and I needed that, so thank you so much! I'll definitely be participating next year.

COC, day 30: Something New

“Simon!” Baz calls. “Your wings!”

I turn back, and he’s coming down the steps with his wand out. I pull my wings in tight and wait for him to cast the spell.

“Cover your back!” he casts.

Then he touches my chest and leans in to kiss me. Quickly. On the mouth.

I couldn’t let him leave without a kiss good-bye. I’d only regret it later.

Day 30: Something New

I'll admit, this one only works for the prompt meta-textually lol

This was my first time trying cross-stitch! I think I'll stay an embroidery girly, but I won't be so avoidant of cross-stitch any more lol. I wanted to do something with the original cover of Carry On because it's what I had when I first read the book years ago, so it holds a special place in my heart.

The coc and end of the year always make me a bit reflective. I don't talk about it often because it feels cheesy, but this fandom, and these books, and the coc mean so so much to me. I read Carry On as a sheltered closeted teen and it changed me. I had never read a book with queer characters before then. And now these books are such a comfort to me and the only books I've re-read over and over. Truly I don't know how I would have turned out if I didn't find this community as a teen. And the friends I've made, even if we've only talked once or twice, are so special to me. Even when I'm not creating, or super active in the fandom just being around you all in this online space makes my life so much better :)

So happy Snowbaz Day, I hope you all are doing well and thank you so much for being here <33

That’s a wrap for this year’s Carry On Countdown. This drawing challenge has been truly a rollercoaster of emotions. Every drawing reminded me of how much I love these books and the fandom we created. It’s been so much fun bringing these prompts to life and sharing them with you all. Thank you for following along! IT's A WRAP folks!! I want to say a huge thank you to @carryon-countdown for putting this together and to the mods for being such sweet humans! I'm so happy to participate in my first year of COC and am excited for hopeful participation in future years because it really has been such a pleasure!

Carry On Countdown Day 29: Alight

I finally moved and am sleeping on a mattress on the floor Simon Snow style, so today I took a picture with my phone instead of scanning the drawing. I will replace it as soon as I have access to a scanner, but it's 4:30 am now and I'm really sleepy haha

Thanks to incredible fic writers like @hushed-chorus, our boys are always up to something new. This WIP, which will rewrite all eight years at Watford, asks a simple question: what if the Mage knew Baz was a vampire... and offered to help? It is filled with everything---magickal adventures, intense pining, delicious angst, and so much plotting. I cannot convey in words how stunning this fic is. Go read it now!
