scarlettchmbrs¡:
âwell if the cia is hiring for any sort of hacking job then youâll know where to find me,â scarlett said. she furrowed her brows as he spoke, âthe world is huge, carson. taking a few years to just experience something different sounds freeing.â she sighed, enjoying the thrum in her body, the way she felt like she was kind of floating. she leaned her head back and closed her eyes. the smell of the jasmine from the incense hit her nose. she leaned her head on his shoulder absently, lost in thought. when he mentioned family, her mind instantly pictured chris, and she felt a terrible hole in the pit of her stomach at the thought of not visiting him. but it was almost too much sometimes. what would she even say to him? she caught herself zoning out and sat up straight, clearing her throat. âsorry,â she said hoarsely.Â
âokay, hot shot.â he said with a laugh, he agreed with what she was saying to a certain extent but would never admit it. heâs been âanti-explore the worldâ for as long as he could remember. its what his mom went to do and well, she never came back. they sat in a comfortable silence, both lost in their own thoughts. as she rested her head gently on his shoulder, he tensed before completely relaxing. he had never felt so at ease with a girl before. when she sat up straight and apologized, his brows furrowed in confusion, âfor what? you didnât do anything wrong.â

scarlettchmbrs¡:
âyouâre probably right. but maybe change is good,â scarlett said, taking another puff from the joint between her fingers. she walked back to her and sat in the same spot she was before.¡âyouâre smart,â she said.¡âyou could be a teacher any day, but traveling?â she whistles.¡âthatâs the dream. thereâs so much shit out there. in the real world,â she gently teased, raising her hand that was holding the joint.¡âlast chance.â she offered.¡
âiâm always right,â he teased,¡âwherever you end up once you leave this place, make sure you send me a postcard.â he grinned at the girl next to him.¡ânot really my dream.â he said as he reached for the joint, he placed it to his lips and inhaled. holding in the smoke until an unbearable burning sensation appeared before exhaling,¡âi donât really get what is so great about. sure, vacationing is fun but traveling constantly and leaving your family behind? sounds terrible to me, not to mention selfish.â

scarlettchmbrsâ:
scarlett smirked, taking another slow inhale. âiâm just tired of this college shit. even with everything thatâs happened, iâm just -â she sighed, getting up to burn an incense to diffuse the smell of weed in the room. âi would just rather be out there in the real world figuring shit out than in this bubble. feels like iâm walking on fucking eggshells every day.â she said as she lit the incense. she turned around with a shrug. âwell, money and all that bullshit aside, if you could do anything once you leave here, what would it be?â
âscar, real world shit is going to be way worse than this, unless you move to the middle of nowhere. you most likely are still going to be walking on eggshells out there too.â he explained cautiously, not wanting to hurt the girls feelings. he couldnât imagine how she was feeling being back on campus, all eyes on her but he was smart enough to realize these types of situations will follow anyone involved around for a long time. âhonestly, i donât know. i thought about teaching but im not exactly a wholesome role model. maybe travel, find my momâ he said nonchalantly with a shrug.

scarlettchmbrs¡:
âsuit yourself,â scarlett said with a shrug. she leaned back against the wall her bed was against and lit the joint, taking a deep inhale and enjoying the taste of it on her tongue. she smirked, raising an eyebrow. âso do i,â she said, her body already relaxing a little. âyou can either watch me smoke this or take a hit - up to you,â she looked forward momentarily, taking another inhale. all day sheâs been getting nothing but stares from everyone. people whispering and pointing at the sister of the so called murderer. she was tired, and if she didnât value her degree as much as she did sheâd have left the campus by now. âi canât wait to fucking graduate, carson, you have no idea. youâre lucky youâre almost out of here.â
carson watched her silently, the way she already looked more relaxed after one hit causing him to smile. it wouldnât be the first time he had gone to class high, he contemplated, âi donât know, heard the TA is pretty hot. wouldnât want to make a bad first impression.â he said cheekily. his brows furrowed at her statement, âtoo bad i have no idea what im going to do when im done. unlike you, i wish i could stay another year or two.â he admitted. âwhy do you wanna leave so badly?â

burkenolan¡:
first day back and nolan already needed a drink. the eyes they trained on him when he walked down the halls for the first time in months was annoying- part of him wishes he hadnât clocked that cheeky grin off of chrisâ face if it meant people stopped staring at him like he was the fucking criminal but at this point heâs given up caring. he ignores the otherâs question, taking out a tumbler half-filled with alcohol and sat a good few inches beside carson, wincing a bit from some pain somewhere on his body. he takes a swig.
âwell, look who it is.â carson spoke sarcastically, the other boys discomfort not going un-noticed. âdonât you think its a bit early to be drinking?â he asked as the smell of alcohol wafting from the tumbler in nolans hands. Carson was a notorious day drinker himself but even by his standards it was way to early.

scarlettchmbrsâ:
scarlett let out a small laugh, shrugging. she scrunched her nose, shaking her head. âsounds awful, not that i can really judge your poor taste in one night stands,â she said, taking another drag of her cigarette. she slept with people fairly often, and had the same expectations of them: leave right before breakfast. she just didnât understand what made the party crowd so appealing nowadays. âgetting stoned is taking a nice break from life, but i guess we have our own guilty pleasures.â as they arrived at her dorm, scarlett finished off her cigarette, throwing it on the ground and crushing it with her boot. she opened the door and let him in, flinging her bag off her shoulder and onto her bed, and grabbing the pre-rolled joint she had in her drawer. she sat on her bed and patted the spot next to her, inviting him.Â
carson shrugged his shoulders, âitâs not like theres anyone better to hook up with. they donât care about the smell of smoke, or the alcohol. not even what ever other drugs iâve had in my system, just sex. â he said defensively, he knew she wasnât into the same things as he was, which confused him beyond belief when he though about why she still put up with him. Carson put out his cigarette as before walking into her dorm. his eyes wandered all through out the small room. It was cute, he thought. He grinned as she grabbed a joint from a drawer and quickly sat next to scarlett, âand here i thought i was the bad influence in this friendship, iâve got class later, Scar.â

âitâs tech talk, carson, keep up,â scarlett said, her lips tugging up into a small teasing grin. she stopped for a second, lighting her cigarette and then lighting carsonâs before putting it in her pocket. she took a long inhale and looked at him as she exhaled. âfuck no,â she said, shaking her head. âiâm not getting involved in that shit,â scarlett said. she would rather do anything else than entertain a college party full of losers. âwell, if you ever feel like you get too drunk and youâre about to pass out on the side of the road, donât call me,â scarlett said with a small smirk. âwhy do you even go to them anyway? theyâre full of horny greek life people and shitty booze.â scarlett said, taking another puff her from the cigarette between her fingers.Â
âsorry, sorry, youâre the only nerd i know. us dumb people have a hard time retaining this stuff.â he laughed, carson but the his cigarette up to his lips and took a long drag of it. he kept his eyes on the short brunette and internally cringed as she talked about not wanting to get involved in the party scene that carson was well immersed in. âduly noted..â he said with a nod of his head, âi donât think we go to the same parties, babe. besides they are a nice break from life, even if i donât remember it the next day.â he explained before taking a sip of his coffee. âplus, party girls donât expect anything the next morning. exactly my type.âÂ

âhe is definitely a dick. moron doesnât know the difference between iterative and recursive algorithms,â she said, rolling her eyes. âshut up,â she said with a small smile on her face. she stood up, packing up her computer and slinging her bag across her chest. she led him back to the campus coffee shop and waited in line with him, letting him buy his coffee before leading the way back to her place. she pulled out a cigarette and put it in her mouth, offering one to carson. âyou gonna hit up all of those parties again this year?â
âis that supposed to be common knowledge? cause i have no idea either of those are..â he admitted, carson was the absolute worst when it comes to anything math or science related. âwhat? its trueâ he said, as he stood up, following scarlett into the campus coffee shop so that he could finally get some caffeine into his system. With his coffee in hand, he took the cigarette the brunette had offered him, finally able to curb his two cravings at once. âuh, probably? didnât really do much of it during the summer so i gotta get back into it.â he stated, it wasnât exactly his ideal summer but his dad pretty much forced him into living a clean life. âshall i expect to see you them as well?â

scarlettchmbrs¡:
scarlett rolled her eyes, feigning annoyance even though she was joking. she listened intently, watching his face. she noticed that any time she asked him about history, something she knew he was actually passionate about, carson rambled on like a little kid. he was a good guy, and nice to scarlett, so she genuinely enjoyed his company. she smirked, shaking her head. âwouldnât you like to know, huh?â she took a small sip of her cold coffee and shrugged. ânothing new. professor weltonâs got it out for me, but besides that everythingâs the same old shit.â she glossed over the topic of her brother, because of course that was something that was always on the back of her mind, but she wasnât even sure what to say about it. âwanna go grab you a coffee and we can go back to mine and smoke? i need to not look at the screen for a few hours so my eyesight doesnât get worse.â
carson wiggled his eyebrows suggestively, âif you ever need someone to proof read, im your guy.â he listened to her speak, he liked hearing her talk, found her voice sort of calming. most girls he knows even, the ones he calls friends, tend to get on his nerves after a while. but not scarletts. âprofessor welton sounds like a dick.â he coulnt even fathom having it out for someone like scarlett, or so he tells himself. he doesnât bring up her brother, he doubts he ever will on his own. carson thinks its something she should talk to him about when shes ready. Carson nodded his head at her suggestion, âcoffee sounds amazing right now, â he chuckled, âi donât know, i think youâd look cute with glasses.â

scarlett smirked, shutting her laptop immediately after the question. âitâs private.â she shut down, giving him a once over and putting her foot on the chair she was sitting on, hugging her knee. âanyway, how have you been? howâs the history studying been going?â she asked. carson was actually one of the rare people in the school scarlett gave a shit about, so it was actually nice to see him, though sheâd never admit it. Â
âprivate, huh? sounds like something kinky.â he joked, a grin spreading onto his face. he rubbed his tired eyes and let out a groan as she mentioned school work, âme? im just great, nothing a good olâ smokebreak and coffee canât fix.â carson spoke candidly, âi did go to Bishop museum in honolulu in the summer, but other then that history has been boring .â he said, but didnât truly mean. âi thinks it more of the teachers than the actual subject but i canât say for sure just yet..â scarlett was the only person who had asked him questions about his school work, all his friends thought it was boring no matter what fun fact he rambled out, which is what he found endearing about her. âhow about you? get up to any criminal activities without me?â he asked ,full well knowing that if either of the two were to anything illegal it would be him.

â i can think of half a dozen examples just within my family . â she commented dryly . â father says some people are meant to win in life . â a sarcastic laugh came out of red lips . â iâve always thought i was one of those , but who knows . â rolling her eyes , esme took out a pack of cigarettes from her small purse , handing them over to carson . â well, i guess we all have our flaws . like smoking and actually enjoying other peopleâs company . now give me a light before i go completely insane . â
âwellâ he sighed exasperatedly, âim definitely one of the losers. you on the other hand i find hard to one, youâre just better .â he said without an explanation. he figured one wasnât really necessary. He took the cigarette in exchange for the lighter, âIâd have more flaws if i didnât smoke, like homicidal tendencies or something.â he joked

the first day back had been alright so far. now she was concerned on heading to the library for some textbooks. it was the first day, and she already had assignments. whoâs genius idea was to even invent homework? as if the universe heard her complaining one of her folders fell out of her bag. quick to pick it up she hadnât noticed she was causing conflict. âoh iâm sorry,â she mused stepping to the side. âi had dropped my folder,â
âwow, congratulationsâ he stated sarcastically, he was aggravated enough as it was trying to finish his readings before his class later in the day, âthink its possible for someone to have aneurism from reading to much in one day?â he asked, though he wasnât sure why. he didnât even know this girl.

carson had recognized scarlett almost immediately when he had walked up to, he was still recovering from the night before where he had a little too much to drink. he could see how focused she was with whatever it is she was doing on her laptop and half thought it might be best to leave it alone, however he hadnât talkes with the pretty brunette since last term and decided to walk up to her instead. He hadnât meant to make her jump when he approached but chuckled nonetheless, âsorry, scarlett, wonât happen again, promise.â he teased. he watched as she continued to type away with furrowed brows, âwhat are you even working on? its like day 3 of the new term.â
@carsonwalkrâ
scarlett sat at one of the tables outside of one of the on campus cafes, typing away at her computer. her eyes were laser focused, the remnants of her old cigarette bud in the ash tray and her tea cold by now. she sniffled a little from the light breeze and continued working, jumping when someone came by next to her. she fixed her beanie and huffed, gesturing for carson to sit in the seat in front of her. âyou canât just go scarinâ people like that, carson, jesus christ,â she said, continuing to type at her computer with furrowed brows.

â oh trust me , iâm not one to judge anotherâs bad habits , old sport . â still playing with her cigarette, esme sat next to carson, staring idly into the horizon . â is that a challenge ? iâm not one to lose . â some would even question if the world was part of her vocabulary . â you know i could very well just go look for someone else with a couple matches, right ? â a smile tugged her lips upwards . â but what do you want , hypothetically ? âÂ
âtheres gotta be worse, right?â he said with a laugh, but it was true, its not like his smoking was hurting anyone. besides himself that is. âah yeas, i forgot just how competitive you truly are. although, i can muster up all the stubbornness i have just to see the look on your face when you lose.â he smirked at the girl who was now sitting next to him. âif im so expendable to you, you wouldnât have sat down. besides, hypothetically, i would just want another cigarette. iâm out and i donât feel like heading to the store to buy more.â

âi apologise, but youâre actually sitting on my cardiganâ she stated, her finger pointing towards the grey knitted wear underneath him. âi was in such a rush for lunch, and with it being such a nice day, i forgot all about itâ though now, with the scent of smoke, sheâd have to wash it before wearing it again.Â
âoh shit, my badâ he apologized and lifted himself up and off her cardigan. âi donât blame you, the nice weather isnât going to last foreverâhe quickly put out the cigarette in his hand, even heâs not dense enough to realize not everyone is a smoker. âiâm carson by the way. i donât think weâve met before.â

Cali had been walking across campus when she spotted a familiar face reading and decided to go over to him. She hadnât seen Carson since they left for summer and missed messing around and getting into trouble with him. âYeah, did you miss me?â she winked taking a seat next to him.
âoh hey, cal.â he said with a smile, he nodded his head slowly, trying to answer to figure out a way to answer her question without making himself look like a complete douche bag, âyeah, i mean, parties in seattle are nothing compared to here.â

carson let out a low whistle at the coldness of the girls tone. her eyes not looking up from her book as she continued to read, leading him to stick both of his hands over the pages to block her view, forcing her attention to be on him, ânot even for me?â he asked teasingly, knowing he was probably high up on her list of people she didnât want to see.  âi donât want anything, technically. did you have a nice summer?â he asked awkwardly.
â what ? â stasâ called out coldly, refusing to stray her gaze from the page she was reading from her book, letting out another venom filled reply before the other person had the chance to talk. â iâve been on campus for two fucking minutes and everyone already wants something for me â iâm not open for business yet so fuck off. â
