little life update

it's been so incredibly long since i last posted here. it's really been along time ever since i last wrote anything. my life the past year has been messy and bright, and i never had the time nor the motivation to sit down and write. i've finally signed up fr those japanese classes i've been dreaming with for years. adding that up to my on-going arabic classes, my master's in literary translation, my job as a private tutor and now, soon, my new full-time job, i'd say writing is the last of my concerns. i'm moving countries again, too. still, there's always that itch. always the need to pick up my laptop and start new stories, continue those i left stranded, write down poems. the itch is there, always there, but the time to scratch it is no. i don't know why i write this here because i don't think i will be able to make a come-back. i just wanted to update. writeblr was a really safe and happy place for me as a writer. i hope you are all doing well.

Her movement seemed to have been limited to the action of blinking, and even that seemed to take an extreme toll on her body.

Her face was pinched in concentration as she held an oversized white t-shirt with a crying anime girl printed on it.

“I’m deciding which of these will be part of my wardrobe in the future,” she said, nodding and setting the t-shirt on the pile of the left.

Taiga sputtered. “What do you mean part of your wardrobe? These are mine! I haven’t even put them on yet!”

“Sheesh, are you one of those hoarder types?” she said, not looking at him. “There’s a thing called sharing.”

“So, you say we’re not on a first name basis, but you want us to share clothes?” asked Taiga, dumbfounded.

“C’mon, Nakamura,” she said, pronouncing the syllables of his new surname slowly. “This is probably the only thing we have in common, I’ll let you take a look at my wardrobe later, I’m sure you’ll find some gems.”

“You’re, like, the size of a ten-year-old, there’s no way your clothes will fit me” said Taiga, ignoring the seething look she sent his way. “Plus, it’s just plain weird.”

"Well, then I guess I’ll be the only one benefiting from this arrangement,” answered Yuki, over her shoulder.

He pressed the palms of his hands against his stinging eyes until all he could see were bright spots of light behind his eyelids. The cord around his throat snapped. Taiga screamed. A fleeting thought occurred him that perhaps someone would come and make him stop, but no one came, and so Taiga screamed, and when after a long time his voice broke, his throat felt raw and there were tears on his eyes and his face was wet. Sleep came easier than he thought it would. That night, his dreams were an eternal black slate.

I honestly don’t know??? But if there is an animal out there you can describe as inconsistent... then that’s the one xd

X: What inspires you as a writer?

I’d say everything??? The world per se is a constant source of inspiration for me. Other people’s work too, of course. There’s no output without input for me!

Y: Are your characters based off of people you know? Yourself? Or no one at all?

I think all of my characters are inevitably inspired by people I know, even if only briefly. I wouldn’t say one character is excatly like one person, but rather a mix of attributes and characteristics from many different people in my life.

E: What other writers are you friends with?

Here on tumblr, mot of my writeblr friends left a while ago :( I still am friends with some amazing peeps here, though!

F: Do you prefer to write stand-alones or series?

I definitely prefer standalones, because plot is really one of my weak points, and it’s already hard for me to come up with a good consistent plot for one nvel, so imagine having to do that for a series...

Z: What made you decide to write your story?

I’m constantly getting unasked-for ideas for stories in my head, but most of them disappear into the void after a couple of days. Sometimes, though, there are some story ideas I just can’t shake, even after months. I guess that’s the tell.tale sign for me that I should write that story: when I just cannot shake it off.

hello anon! thanks for the ask!

L: How do you select the names of your characters?

I honestly have a huge list of names in different languages in my head, names I love the sound of, or their meanings. When assigning a name to a charcater, I take many things into consideration, like their background and heritage, possible nicknames, their personality and of course the meaning of the name.

Sometimes, I also look for names in the internet, when I’m out of ideas or I want a very specific type of name.

O: What types of scenes are hardest for you to write?

Action scenes, without a doubt. I just can’t write action!!!!

V: How would you feel if your story turned into a movie?

I’ve honestly phantasized about it so many times... I’D DIE OF HAPPINESS!!!
