CAS Reflection

Throughout those eighteen months, I learned a lot about myself and the environment surrounding me. The most interesting part of this program was creativity, as I could have improved my skills and started things I wanted to try before. It made me feel like I could do anything and everything possible. Moreover, I enjoyed doing an activity as it is connected with my sports interest. My biggest challenge was to create classes for my student. I had a feeling of a big responsibility when deciding to tutor someone. He relies on me to prepare him well for the 8th-grade finals. In the beginning, it was hard, but with time when I started seeing progress, it turned out that I am quite a good tutor, and he understands almost everything when we go over the syllabus. Moreover, during my vacation in Egypt, despite my fear of deep water, I challenged myself to see beautiful coral reefs and try snorkeling. Thanks to CAS, I discovered new parts of myself and developed new skills as well as improved the old ones. I learned that disinterested work is very satisfying, particularly when you can see results. In my case, I am very happy that my neighbor became a four/five-grade student. In my opinion, I developed nail painting skills the most, as I practiced it a lot. I learned how to do various patterns and make some nail art. I tried to challenge myself every time I was doing my nails. For me, the easiest learning outcome to achieve was the second one - undertaking new challenges and developing new skills in the process. I am a person that likes to discover myself by trying new things. This way, I can identify what is for me and what is not. However, the hardest learning outcome to achieve was the seventh one - engagement with issues of global significance. I tried to keep my CAS blog consistent without changing my creativity, activity, and service a lot. It became difficult to try to fulfill this LO by doing nails, working out, or during my tutoring classes, so sometimes, I had to do something different.

CAS service February 2/2

Before the winter break, my student had a Biology test, and he asked me for help as he could not comprehend this unit. I am not the best at this subject, but we started reading the topics and subtopics together, and when he did not understand some parts, he said so. This way, I knew where the problem was, so I tried to explain it more clearly and looked for more information on the internet. I hope that he did well on the test.

Cas Service February 1/2

In today’s classes, we revise the latest math problems that my student recently had in school. We talked about geometry and basic equations related to this topic. For him, it is difficult to understand math, so I had to be patient and explain everything easily, making a lot of analogies. It was quite a challenge, but I think he understood everything at the end as he did some exercises on his own.

I was thinking about pole dance for a very long time and during the winter break I decided to try it. It turned out that I have bruises everywhere but it definitively sport for me. It is challenging as I don’t have enough strength to do hanging knee raise and I am not very stretch. But I know that with every training I am going to do better and strengthen my body.

Activity 1/2 February 2023

During the winter break I had more time to do what I enjoy so my mom my neighbor and I went to ice rink in Warsaw. My mom asked my to help Milena with ice skating as she just started learning. I was glad to help and share my experience. This was probably the last time I went ice skating this year as the weather becomes warmer and ice rinks melts. However, I hope soon I’ll be able to go rollerblading.

Creativity 2/2 February 2023

Throughout this month I learned future tense in Spanish and I also worked on past tenses. It is difficult to remember all the endings and which tense should be used. But I feel that I improved my Spanish a lot. I am going to keep learning as it is a lot of fun doing the lessons meanwhile I learn useful skill.

Creativity 1/2 February 2023

I’m still working on the acrylic gel. This month I decided to make Hailey Biber nails as it is one of the most popular trends recently. The pattern wasn’t hard to do, but the extending part was still challenging as I had to fill in the roots this time. I think I nailed it but it took me some time to learn this skill.

Even though my CAS experience is nearing completion, I learned a lot and improved many skills, such as making nails. Throughout this journey, I managed to post 24 posts about my patterns and how they changed. It was my CAS creativity from the beginning, and I am glad I did it.

Service 2/2 January 2023

My school organized an event for MYP to talk with IB students about choosing a path and what else they should expect when they come to our school. I was responsible to talk about Spanish B SL. There were some people that were interested in choosing this subject so I mainly talked about the teacher and program that we are pursue. I’m glad I could have helped them as I know that it is not easy to choose the classes that you are going to study for two years.

The student committee work hard to make the prom night special. The time of preparation was full of stress. It wasn’t the first time that I involved in an organization of similar events, but this one was definitively the most challenging.

Activity 2/2 January 2023

Since the weather was not so good I didn’t have willingness to go for a walk. However, at that day the sun was shining and it was presently outside so I decided to make my old route in the countryside where I live with my mom. Since I moved to my dad’s in Warsaw I missed the quietness and fresh air. I enjoyed the walk very much but I can’t wait till the nature start to wake up and trees and flowers will bloom.

I went ice skating with my friend who helps me with my physics internal assessment. I needed to conduct more tests, but afterwards we started doing our things. She is a very good figure skater so she helped my improve my skills. I learned new things about the technique of a spin and jump.

I keep learning Spanish vocabulary and grammar. Since I started using Duolingo daily I see the improvement as I can translate more complex sentences and use more tenses.

During my preparation to prom I decided to try something new with my nails and try to extend them. It was my first time working on acrylic gel but I think that it turned out great. The pattern match my outfit and was not very hard to do. However, as it was my first time extending my nails it took me 7 hours to do it.

Soon our school will have prom so I decided to help with the organization. This month we discussed the most important factors that we need to include like decorations or sitting arrangements. This is a big event for the students so I’ll try to do my best to make this night unforgettable.

In today’s class we were talking about Balladyna which is a book that my student was supposed to read at home and be prepered for class discution in school. I did not remember a lot form this book as I read it five years ago but we used internet to find needed information.

I still work on my body and try to work out regularly. I did a pretty intense booty workout but I managed to finish it.
