HI i drew this for the dimension 20 calendar and it made me fall, impossibly, even more in love with dropout as a company.
misfits and magic is one of my all time favorite seasons. it’s so healing to watch as a queer person who grew up loving the wizarding world. and the fact i was asked to put “fuck terfs” five times into an illustration of kids flying around on brooms, rules, and i’ll never get over it
Watching misfits and magic and Dream (Erika) gets a chipmunk familiar and says (paraphrased) "you could be a good fighter, you could crawl inside something's intestines". Yeah...imagine a chipmunk inside the body of another being......
GETTING CLOCKED AS AN AVID D20 WATCHER BY MY THERAPIST BECAUSE I SAID
HEY GIRLIE
And then having them try to keep the session on track because I haven’t been able to know anyone irl who watches and I immediately started ranting abt MisMag 2 😭
seeing dimension 20’s worlds calendar pointedly saying “FUCK TERFS” in both the description and art for the month of june was such a heartwarming surprise today
edit: in a reblog I shared the full June month art and the remaining hidden FUCK TERFs but the rb got lost in the notes so see the rest below :)
also credit to the amazing artist here: @sydsketch !!! go tell them how amazing they are!
this scene is what solidifies jammer to me as one of my all-time favorite dimension 20 characters. evan having just had a very public meltdown in a way that could've gone very very badly for him if jammer hadn't stepped in to help. evan is such a raw portrayal of trauma and neurodivergence, and jammer is an incredible example of how to help when a friend is struggling. more than that, it's how lou described how jammer saw evan in that moment. evan's magical issues reads very easily as a metaphor for psychosis, and he lashes out and acts "scary". but jammer doesn't see him as scary, he sees him as someone who is in distress and acts accordingly.
some of yall really out here missing the entire point of misfits and magic
you can't make a problem go away just by pretending it doesn't exist. you have to call it out.
misfits and magic calls out that book series in every way possible, from the general discrimination to the lack of diversity to the specific idea that kids are evil from age 11.
should that book series get more publicity? no. but if the bullshit that author does is ignored, it will only fester and become a bigger problem. call out the issue without giving the issue any money. call out the issue in an effective manner. and in this case, call out the issue in a fun way that supports actual queer people.
ah ohmygod, I posted this on tiktok but not here lolz, anyways! here's a fiddauthor comic I made :DDD the draft for this is about 2 years old and I only got the motivation to finish it this year haha
