Throw in the fact that the elemental masters of creation have a history of going evil and/or possessing the ability to cause mass destruction- the ice emperor, oni Lloyd, sea bound nya to name a few- and we got some good soup people 🤌✨

Having a lot of headcanons for how the Ninja’s powers work because of Ice Emperor Zane.

Like Ice Emperor Zane just showed us like what happens if the Ninja had went BERSERK and refused to hold back their powers + have a massive power boost.

Like we know the Ninja can create a damn dragon.

But fuck you mean to tell me Zane caused an ENTIRE realm to suffer even more from ice and snow, froze and entire army to mind control and puppeteer them to become mindless puppets, ESSENTIALLY GAVE VEX AND GRIMFAX IMMORTAL YOUTH BECAUSE GRIMFAX STILL LOOKS THE SAME WAY HE DID FOR 40-60 YEARS (As well as Vex too.) and apparently has foresight because he gave Vex a slab that allows him to SEE an entire village from MILES away.

Girlie the Ninja are OP they just don’t show it a lot cause of course plot reasons but because Wu trained them DAMN well.

So screw it, AU where Wu just fucking dies before he managed to get all the Ninja and the Ninja are out here discovering their powers wayy too early and don’t give a fuck about holding back.

headcanon time! Lloyd's powers:

When using Oni abilities, his powers turn purple, of course but I've been obsessed with the idea of him gaining those white face markings that Garm and the other onis have. The marks sort of swirl in from the sides of his face. if i was a better animator i'd have shown you. also would be cool if an inexplicable shadow fell over him and him only (even if he was in the sun), making the marks glow more.

Obviously there are two modes Lloyd's got when tapping into the Oni abilties: powered up and full transformation. i'm obsessssssedddd with exposed bones. Garmadon and Mistaké exposed ribcage is such a cool design element. I think in the power-up mode, the torso markings detail are something that glows over him, while in the transformation his ribcage and spine are just Out. But don't worry, I'm sure they're extra durable.

The green one is funky. You know how Lloyd's powers sort of glitched over him during his fight against Garmadon in s8? It was explained that his element was protecting him in a way. Well in my head, in the non-plastic character world the way it's visualized like the green power is sort of illuminating under his skin? its wrapping itself around his bones and organs and stuff as some sort of protective sheild under his flesh, which in part makes him look a little ghostly or radioactive. Probably a bit painful though.

Oni form. TBH i don't like the gold color but i can sort of accept that look if they give us a good reason. Otherwise I figure that since he was wearing proper armor in Crystallized, his transformation was more contained more. I bet if he was wearing a normal gi he'd tear out of it when he turns into a big hulking monster guy. They really should've tapped into the classic werewolf tropes with this oni transformation haha

I hc onis being really BIG beasts. Lloyd's transformation probably takes him up to like 3 meters tall. That could honestly be a really funny contrast though. I think in human mode he'd be really short, so effectively he doubles in size.

we’ve all seen headcanons about zane being more violent after the whole ice emperor thing, but have you considered: what if he goes in the opposite direction?

being afraid to fight, afraid of letting his power take control again, afraid of feeling that cold chill build up in the back of his mind, because it reminds him of the same ice that he used as a weapon of mass destruction

becoming squeamish with blood because it reminds him of the way his prisoners bled as growing spears of ice cut into their flesh

putting himself in the path of danger more and more, repeating to himself “i am built to protect” because he can’t let himself forget it, not again

becoming unable to kill enemies because every time he sees their faces, he remembers the countless formlings pleading for their lives under his unrelenting blade as vex whispers those familiar words, “destroy them, destroy them.”

I return from the dead with MORE ICE EMPEROR! HOW SUPRISING!!!✨❄️

Thought I’d finally share my head cannons for this creature and for how the staff of forbidden spinjitsu works so HERE WE GO-

❄️ when each ninja holds the staff, their elements burst to life all around them, most notably through their hair. Lloyd and Kai’s looks same as the show, though Kai’s hair is smoldering a bit more and smoky, and Lloyd’s is flickered with gold. Everyone else is different! Nya’s hair swirls with clouds and mist like a brewing storm, jay’s hair stands on end as the lightning makes the lights flicker, and Zane’s hair floats and glitters like the northern lights, leaving lil flurries behind him as he walks! This effect looks even cooler when he grows his hair out as the ice emperor.

✨when Zane crash lands into the neverrealm, the fall leaves a serious wound on his right temple. This badly damages his right eye, making his vision unpredictable and his eye noticeably glitching out.

❄️ Zane was built to be as convincingly human as possible- because of this he mimics different symptoms to communicate what kind of damage he has. For example, when he has malware or a virus, Zane will run a fever, cough or sneeze. He shivers on the rare occasion his powers become too overwhelming and, in the case of the fore mentioned head trauma, Zane will show concussion symptoms- such as his pupils being “blown” (two different sizes). Also yes his hair does grow. He doesn't know how to take care of it as the emperor so it grows tangled and matted but it grows nonetheless

✨the effects of the scroll are a slow burn! Sure the effects are noticed almost immediately, but the damage it does is slow and not easily reversed: therefore contributing to my “Zane does not turn back into “Zane” after he drops the staff” bit! The effects linger- Zane’s hair flickering with power when he’s upset, his powers responding in a similar way to season one- where he’d freeze the training grounds over. He leaves frozen footsteps wherever he goes, freezes over on occasion(mostly along his face when he cries) and if you were to tousle his hair it’d start snowing indoors. ❄️ I love the “Zane committed active genocide alongside vex and is horribly traumatized by it” trope I see in fics a lot, but I also found myself wanting to work with the concussed, sleepy boi we got in the show! So Im developing an AU that meets sort of a middle ground: with Zane participating in the first decade or two of war, but slowly becoming sicker and more manic and paranoid the further into his rule he goes. When he is not asleep, the emperor is pacing the castle in unrest, the walls creaking as he spirals in the warped memory of the lies vex had told him and the realm continues to freeze solid.
