"Hey there, sleepy head." Catalina greeted as the coffee maker brewed the current cup she had underneath it. It was originally supposed to be for her since she didn't know exactly what was going to happen now. Inside she felt torn, even a small part felt like she was lying to everyone. But she didn't want to bring things up even if they were important. "I think we fell asleep with all the lights on."

"See! You are totally seeing the vision I had. I'm sure there's a way to mix the two of them together in a weird holiday classic." Catalina wasn't going to mention that she didn't see the Muppet's Christmas Carol, but she would assume it's like all of the other christmas carol movies.

"What movie were you thinking of? I feel like there's definitely a romantic comedy that could easily fit." @peterbasara

"That's a fucking fantasic answer," Peter immediately approves with an even bobble of his head as he imagines it.

"And it fits with A Muppet Christmas Carol. A total holiday double feature that's fun for the whole family -- what more could you want?"

"That bad? I think that might just have to be waited out after the initial storm." Catalina was never really the one to have any patience to wait. She consistently demanded answers even from herself when something arose. Hence why she was consistently in a fight with herself while being back in Aurora. She wanted answers that she couldn't give herself nor ask Nelson to give her in such a short amount of time they spent together. "Once the damage is officially counted for then maybe a slow work at rebuilding could start?" @stephanxevans

"Non-existing ones. It's been a while." He wondered if they would even recognize him now. After all, he essentially became a complete and total stranger in their lives. As he listened, Stéphan couldn't help but emit a small chuckle. Not that he ever dared to compare himself or his experiences to that of another, curiosity rose for the predicament that the woman was alluding to. "If yours is comparable to rough waters, mine is a category five hurricane."

"And don't forget picking a random direction to see if anything good would pop up for food." Catalina loved their travel days. Not just because she was seeing the world, but she was also with him. Yes, their marriage and relationship was quickly bound together, but there was something between them. They were young, and dumb, but very much in love. "Oh, that sounds quite the change. I hope you still have some fun days splashed in there every once in awhile. Or I might just have to force you to have some." Which is exactly what she wanted to do now -- to have fun and not worry about whatever this was between them.

"I know everything looks good on me, Nel. That's why my closet is nearly the size of my bedroom." She couldn't hide the shock in her eyes while she tried to keep a smile on her face. Nelson without a date? That seemed unheard of when she knew him. Women were continuously lining themselves wherever he was to see him. "You without a date? Sounds fake. I'm sure you left someone heart broken." @the-nelson-quinn

“ oh yeah long passed are my days of just wearing whatever came out of a suitcase” nelson teased as he glanced back to Catalina with a smile. They were happy once; right? When they lived like that and traveled? He tries to think of they were and when it changed. When he had to sort of push her away. Could he make her happy now? He doesn’t know; because he’s still just as broken and just as nihilistic but the reckless streak is curbed now. He’s got Cooper and Harley to worry about and they’ve already been through so much. He couldn’t have his little niece and nephew worried. “ I tend to look like I’m always heading to a meeting that will never happen “

"You? Dressed up? I would've never believed it if I hadn't seen it." Another reminder of how much time they had truly spent apart. How much they really didn't know of each other. And how all confusing this still felt. Catalina should've been able to tell her feelings apart. Any sort of love she had for him molded into something completely different yet she couldn't figure out exactly what it was. The longer she stayed in Aurora, the more she wanted to seek him out. She wanted to know something of whether this was the end or a start again. Yet, how could she demand that from him when she didn't even know herself?

"Thank you! Honestly, I really just wanted to wear the shoes." She shined at his compliment while lifting up her dress to point out a leg to show off her seashell heels. "I was going for the theme of a pearl. Where's your date?" @the-nelson-quinn

Nelson didn’t really feel like going to prom because his own had been an unmitigated disaster but the man did love to go out and that outweighed his own misdeeds back when he was a teenager. He also needed to get out of his brothers place cause so much of his time now was spent on babysitting duty.

He would have been lying to himself if he acted like he didn’t notice Catalina instantly. He’d be able to find her on a crowded room with barely any light. He just had a way of knowing. It was like no matter how much time passed he was drawn to her. He talked to a few people but paused to grab a drink only then he turned back at the sound of her voice. “ I’m always dressed up. My niece thinks I sleep in suits “ he teased before glancing back at her with a small smile. “ you look beautiful Kitty” @catalinaxdiaz

"Maybe at one point California wasn't like this, but I don't think it's too much of a bad thing." Which Catalina was probably blind to it all. She normally tried to not look at things too closely. She never really had too. In all honesty, she liked her bubble. "Troubled relationships?" She echoed, momentarily caught off guard by how on the nose Stephan seemed to be in his questions. Maybe he had his own things to sort out, but it certainly felt like a spotlight was shining bright on her. "I don't think the apology smoothed things that nicely with mine. But mine is a bit more complicated than saying sorry and hugging to make up. It depends on how rough the waters are." @stephanxevans

"I guess so… It's been a while since I've been out here, but the truth seems to remain unchanged." Trading Massachusetts for California to attend college was an easy decision. He was excited to graduate from the program he had researched and wanted to join since the eighth grade. Things felt so much simpler back then. How he wished he could go back to those moments and start life over. But alas, life wasn't all butterflies and rainbows. "Would you say that about troubled relationships? A simple apology and all is forgiven?"

"I mean it could happen. Maybe not tonight, but who knows about the future." A choice that would easily complicate it all more, but Catalina couldn't throw it off the table completely. Why? Well... She hadn't thought that far into her plan with Nelson. She barely had a plan on what she was even doing. "Wait, what do you mean it's on your bucket list? I have it on a no way in hell list."

“Yet? Girl that’s messy.” Nari couldn’t help but grin when she said it, an amused expression on her face. “Ugh I wish. It’s on my bucket list.” Nari thought it seemed so terrifying and fun all at once that she had to try it someday.

"My plans to lay out and tan by the pool. It includes having a delicious pineapple coconut water and a mid day cheeseburger and fries. The post tan shower might be my favorite part, though."

Catalina didn't know if exes was what she would call her current relationship. It certainly felt like it, but legally they were still bound together by marriage. "Well... I haven't slept with him yet." She paused trying to think of a good one to say. "Never have I ever jumped out of a plane." @minxnari

"Does this look okay?" Catalina asked as she made her way down the hall, away from the ladies room. She very quickly clipped her hair into an updo she could only hope looked decent. She tried to pick a dress that would allow her to move pretty freely, but it didn't add much airflow. The girl couldn't drink enough water. "I might be wearing out these dancing shoes too quickly."

"Isn't that mostly all of California?" As much as she has traveled from place to place, Catalina can't say she ever felt the same as she does now being back in Aurora Bay. Was it her most favorite place? Probably in the top five list. Did she love it more so because of the roots her family established here? Yes. "I think it has something to do with the beaches, honestly. I mean, how upset can you be when the ocean is right there? Anything going wrong in life can be fixed by a dip." @stephanxevans

Aurora Bay was interesting, to say the least. The hospitality was uncanny, and Stéphan didn't know whether to attribute it to people simply being more pleasant thanks to the proximity to the beach or its unique way of gathering the community together. No wonder his siblings were seemingly thriving here. "Is this place always brimming with unmatched optimism?" He had heard chatter about the prom and made the better choice not to attend. "I feel like I'm in some fairytale land."

As the last song came to an end, Catalina nearly made a bee line straight for the drinks. She didn't care who gave her what as long as it cured the dryness in her throat from the consistent singing and dancing she was doing. The girl loved to dance so naturally going to prom (even if she didn't have a date) sounded like a better way to spend her night than being alone.

She took a sip from the clear plastic cup as she looked at everyone else dancing in front of her. She wasn't surprised when she smelled his familiar cologne before her eyes finally landed on Nelson with his own drink in hand. "Woooow!" The word was drawn out as she looked him over. "Look at you! You got all dressed up."
