i meant to write yday but it was my birthday & even though i thought it was gonna be a relaxing day it , was not. it was good though

“ i tried taming lightning, once. ” technically. wielding two flashlights like they were lightsabers, all because two young girls he barely knew were scared of a little thunder & lightning. he shrugs, casual. “ i'm sure you can guess how successful that was. ” it was freeing, though. epiphanic, even. so he gets this. the whole storm chaser thing. he tilts his head, looking at @witherness. “ how's new york ? ”

✉ … it's late, & he really should have gone home at least an hour ago. he'd promised himself he wouldn't spend a late night in the office again & well — he'd kept it, technically. & at least at the bar there's people. people he can talk to, instead of — is that isla gordon ? joe hadn't much been paying attention to those walking in as much as he'd been staring into his almost-empty beer, the day's work playing on repeat in his head. but it's much harder to ignore someone when they sit down at the bar next to you, even if they haven't seen you yet. he waits a few moments, wondering what brings her to the bar ( though their own business meeting had been in a far more formal setting, joe's had his fair share of bar stool business conversations ), but the answer isn't quickly apparent. joe waits for another moment, & then leans in to catch her attention. “ — isla gordon. ”
