Chapter 1 / intro : ''Damn, I think I am in love''
Tumblr media
The sound of raring engines filled the night air as Bucky Barnes and Steve Rogers pulled into the lot of his bar. The Howling wolf. The neon sign flickers slightly, casting a blue glow over the polished chrome of his Harley. He swung of the bike; boots crunching against the gravel and took a deep breath. This place was his sanctuary, built with his own hands after leaving behind the chaos of his past.
Alongside him stood Steve Rogers. His best friend and right-hand man when it comes to business. Tonight was a busy night. The bar was thriving, alive with chatter, the scent of whiskey, and the steady beat of classic rock playing from the jukebox. Together they went inside and took a seat at their usual table, waving over a waitress to order their regular drinks.
At the bar you sat, along with your friends. Nursing a glass of whiskey while listening to your friends gossiping about who knows what. You looked around and caught the eye of a redhead. She winked at you, and you smiled back when you felt someone tug at you’re arm. The tug came from Eloise your best friend, you and her came to this bar for the first time with some friends from school.
‘’ Y/n I need to go to the toilet, you going to come to?’’ She asked while smiling.
‘’Yeah, sure’’ you said while grabbing her hand and leading the way through the busy bar.
You wove though the crowd, your friend in tow, heading for the restroom. The place was packed, a mix of locals, bikers and the occasional troublemakers. You had only been there for a few hours, but you already understood that this place was full of energy.
Just as you passed a particularly rowdy group of men, a rough hand grabbed your ass. The touch was firm, possessive and entirely unwelcome.
Before you even had time to think, you whirled around and grabbed the man’s wrist in a punishing grip, twisting it just enough to make him wince.
‘’Try that again’ you said, your voice low and edged with anger, ‘’and I’ll break your damn arm’’
The man, a burly guy reeking of booze, sneered but didn’t dare pull away. His buddies laughed uneasily, sensing the shift in power.
Bucky and Steve saw everything from where they were sitting. Bucky’s grip on the glass he was holding was tight, blue eyes locked onto you like a hawk watching its prey. He had seen plenty of fights, but there was something about the way you handled yourself that made his chest tighten. You didn’t look to anyone else for help, you handled your own business without a flicker of doubt.
‘’Let go’’ the man gritted out, his confidence faltering under your unwavering stare.
You shoved his arm away and took a step closer, you expression unreadable ‘’that’s what I thought’’
With that you turned around and continued towards the restroom, Eloise following along and whispering ‘’Damn girl, remind me to never mess with you’’
Across the bar Bucky let out a slow breath, shaking his head slightly with a ghost of a smile on his face. He had seen plenty of people come and go through The Howling Wolf, but you? You were something else.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bucky leaned against the bar he was standing at, talking to Nat. He watched as you returned from the restroom. You moved with purpose, shoulder squared, eyes scanning the room as if you wear assessing any threats. He recognized that look. He’d seen it in the mirror too many times.
Nat followed his gaze and smirked ‘’you’re interested’’.
‘’Not in the way you think’’ Bucky mutters, setting his glass down. ‘’She handled herself well, that’s rare around here.’’
‘’She’s new in town, came in with a few friends’’ Nat pointed out. ‘’And she got a fire to her, I like it.’’
Bucky huffed a quiet laugh. ‘’Yeah. That makes two of us’’
You had just reached the bar where you were seated when Sam, who was making drinks behind the bar leaned in with a grin. ‘’So, do you make a habit of threatening to break a man’s arm or was that a one-time show?’’
You rolled your eyes while smiling at him ‘’Only when they deserve it’’
Sam whistled ‘’Damn. I think I’m in love’’
Nat smacked him on the back of his head with a towel, earning a laugh from Sam and you. Bucky just kept watching you, feeling something, he hasn’t felt in a long time and shouldn’t be feeling. Without a word he pushed himself of the bar and walked away without sparing you a glance.
You and your friends stayed a little longer until you finally went to pay your tab, Nat was already smirking while you walked over and asked for your tab.
‘’It’s already been covered sweets’’ she said casually while cleaning the bar top.
You frowned. ‘’By who?”
She jerked her head towards the back of the club where Bucky was watching you and Nat talk, you locked eyes with him, and he threw you a wink before looking away.
Your stomach twisted at the idea of him doing you a favor, you didn’t like owning people. Especially people like him - strong, silent and unreadable.
Still, you weren’t about to argue in front of an audience, so you grabbed your jacket and left with your friends.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That night as you lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, the past threatened to creep in back in.
Growing up it was only you and your dad. He thought you everything you knew. And gave you everything you needed. But growing up in a house where your dad was rarely around, always away on some business deal while you stayed at home studying and being bored out of your mind wasn’t what you wanted.
You were studying to become a lawyer and had been dreaming of taking over your dad’s firm one day. Now that you were in your last year of your study, you had some more free time and wanted to make yourself useful. If only your dad would allow you to.
Every time you had asked to help him or shadow him on a workday so that you could learn more about his firm and make the transition easier when you take over, he declined or pushed you away. Leading to you sitting at home bored out of your mind, but maybe you could change that….

Chapter 3: ''you’re Stark’s kid?''
Tumblr media
The moment his lips had left yours, reality had crashed back in like a tidal wave.
You and Bucky crossed a line. A dangerous, irreversible line.
The bar was empty, except for Sam wiping down tables on the far side, pretending not to see anything. Your heart was still racing, your breath shallow and the warmth of Bucky’s touch lingered on your waist.
His eyes were locked onto yours, heavy with something that sent shivers down your spine. You should’ve pulled away, stepped back and put some distance between you, but neither of you moved.
Bucky exhaled, his hand twitching against your side before finally letting go. ‘’You should go home’’ he muttered, his voice rough.
You arched a brow, still feeling the adrenaline coursing through your veins. ‘’You kicking me out?’’
He shook his head, stepping back as if putting space between you would undo what just happend. ‘’I’m saying you need to think about this’’
You tilted your head. ‘’And you don’t?’’
His lips quirked in a humorless smile. ‘’Oh, doll, I’ve been thinking about this since the moment you stepped foot in my bar’’
You didn’t know what to say to that. There was a storm brewing in his eyes, something dark and conflicted, something you weren’t sure if you should be running from or running towards.
Before you could respond, the sound of a phone buzzing snapped the tension in half. Bucky pulled out his phone, glancing at the screen and his expression hardened instantly.
‘’Work’’ he said curtly, already shifting back into business mode. ‘’I’ll see you tomorrow.’’
You hesitated but nodded, grabbing your things, waving Sam goodbye and heading out. The cold night hit you like a rock, clearing some of the haze clouding your mind. As you walked home, one thought refused to leave you:
This was only the beginning.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next day, you went about your usual routine- studying in the afternoon, then heading to the bar in the evening. But everything felt different.
Bucky wasn’t there when you arrived, and Nat was het usual observant self, throwing you knowing glances even time you looked even slightly distracted.
‘’So’’ she finally said, sliding a shot of tequila in your direction. ‘’You wanna tell me what’s got you al dazed and dreamy?’’
You scoffed. ‘’I’m not dreamy’’
Nat smirked ‘’Your something’’
You rolled your eyes but didn’t say anything, taking a sip of the tequila.
‘’Barnes was acting real weird this morning’’ she continued, pretending to clean a glass. ‘’Real quiet, broody. More than usual’’
You ignored the way your stomach flipped. ‘’Maybe he just had a lot on his plate.’’
Nat hummed, unconvinced. ‘’Or maybe something happend last night’’
You raised a brow. ‘’And if something did?’’
She leaned in with a grin. ‘’Then I’d tell you to be careful’’
You scoffed again then smiled at her ‘’You sound like him’’
Nat’s grin widened. ‘’Oh, sweets. That’s how you know you’re in trouble’’
Before you could respond, the bar door opened, and Bucky walked in. His presence was immediate, commanding like the room adjusted to accommodate him.
Your eyes met, and for a second, you saw something flicker in his expression- something unspoken. But then is was gone, masked by his usual scoff.
‘’Boss man’s back’’ Sam muttered from behind you. ‘’Try not to drool’’
You shot him a glare but he only smirked, walking away.
The night carried on as usual, but the tension between you and Bucky sudderd beneath the surface. Every glance, every stolen moment when you caught him staring, adding only fuel to the fire.
But the night took a turn when the bar was nearly closing.
A group of unfamiliar bikers walked in, their presence instantly shifting the energy in the bar. You recognized their patches- Rumlow’s crew.
Your grip tightened around the bottle you were holding. Nat noticed and leaned in. ‘’Stay close’’. She murmured.
Bucky had clocked them the moment they entered. He pushed away from the bar where he had been leaning his expression stone cold. Steve appeared at his side like clockwork, both of them exuding authority.
Rumlow himself wasn’t there, but the guys he sent were enough to make your skin crawl.
One of them, a tall broad shoulders man with a scar running down his cheek approached the bar and flashed you a greasy smile. ‘’Hey there, sweetheart’’
You didn’t react, merely setting down a glass and raising a brow. ‘’You ordering or wasting my time?’’
Bucky watched you and couldn’t help but smile to himself. You were definitely something.
The guys chuckled, glancing at his buddies. ‘’Feisty, I like that’’
Sam moved closer to you ‘’We’re closing soon’’
‘’Relax man’’ Scarface drawled ‘’Just having a drink, ain’t that right sweetheart’’
You didn’t answer, but your grip on the counter tightens
That’s when Bucky spoke. “You got business here?”
The tension snapped tight. The bikers turned their attention to him, their expressions shifting.
Scarface smirked. “Just getting to know your new girl, Barnes.”
Bucky’s jaw clenched. “She’s not yours to know.”
That response had your stomach flipping.
Scarface seemed amused. “That right?”
Bucky stepped forward, his presence a warning. “Leave.”
For a second, you thought the guy was going to push back. But then he chuckled, raising his hands in mock surrender. “Relax, Barnes. We’re just being friendly.”
He threw you one last lingering glance before turning away, leading his crew out of the bar.
As soon as they were gone, the tension in the room eased, but you were still buzzing with adrenaline.
“You, okay?” Nat asked quietly.
You nodded, glancing at Bucky. His fists were still clenched, his jaw tight.
“I should go,” you murmured, setting down your rag.
Bucky turned to you, his expression unreadable. “I’ll walk you.”
You hesitated but nodded. The walk home was silent at first, the cool night air doing little to calm the fire still burning inside you.
“You shouldn’t engage with guys like that,” Bucky finally said.
You glanced at him. “I can handle myself.”
He exhaled. “I know. Doesn’t mean I want you to have to.”
Something about the way he said it made your chest tighten.
You stopped walking, turning to face him. “Bucky, what are we doing?”
He looked at you, something raw and conflicted in his gaze. “Something we probably shouldn’t.”
You swallowed. “And do you want to stop?”
A muscle in his jaw jumped. “No.”
Neither did you.
Without thinking, you reached for him, fingers curling around his jacket. He didn’t hesitate, closing the distance and pulling you into another searing kiss.
This was reckless. This was dangerous.
And you couldn’t stop.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The past few days had settled into a rhythm—working at The Howling Wolf and exchanging glances with Bucky that burned hotter than they should. The tension between you both crackled like a live wire, unspoken but impossible to ignore. Whatever was happening between you wasn’t just a passing flirtation. It was something deeper.
Tonight, however, wasn’t about the bar. It was about something bigger.
Bucky and Steve had left early, telling you nothing. You hadn’t asked, but their secrecy gnawed at you. Something was going on beneath the surface of their operations, something beyond serving drinks and breaking up the occasional bar fight.
What you didn’t know was that they were at your father’s house—sitting in his office, discussing the one thing that had been poisoning the city for months—the incoming drug shipments.
Tony Stark leaned back in his chair, his expression unreadable as he eyed Bucky and Steve across his expansive mahogany desk. He exhaled sharply, rubbing his temple. “These shipments aren’t slowing down. In fact, they’re only getting bigger. I’ve done what I can to keep the heat off you two, but this needs to stop—permanently.”
Steve nodded, arms crossed. “We’ve intercepted three of their transports already, but they’re adapting. They’re bringing in more men, better security.”
Bucky, who had been silent until now, finally spoke. “Rumlow and Zemo are getting desperate. They’re bleeding money. If we hit their next major shipment, we cripple them. We force them to rethink their entire operation.”
Tony’s gaze flickered between the two men, jaw tightening. “Fine. But it must be clean. No unnecessary blood, no cops, no collateral.”
Bucky smirked. “We’re not amateurs, Stark.”
Tony narrowed his eyes. “That’s exactly what I’m worried about.”
As the conversation continued behind closed doors, you found yourself walking down the familiar hallway of your father’s house. You hadn’t expected him to be home this early, but something had drawn you inside. Maybe it was intuition, maybe it was pure coincidence. Either way, you were here now.
And then you saw them.
Through the slightly open office door, your father sat across from Steve and Bucky, their faces serious, their voices low. The sight made your stomach tighten. Your father—the powerful, respected lawyer—having a private meeting with two bikers? The same bikers you worked for. The same biker you had kissed just days ago and were starting to fall in love with.
Your blood ran cold.
Your dads sharp gaze flicked toward the door and locked onto yours. Recognition flashed across his features. His jaw clenched slightly, but he didn’t react otherwise. Bucky and Steve, unaware of your presence, continued their conversation.
Heart pounding, you took a step back, careful not to make a sound. You needed answers. And you weren’t leaving until you got them.
Whatever was happening here, it was bigger than you had ever imagined.
And now, you were right in the middle of it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You needed answers.
Instead of confronting them right away, you forced yourself to keep walking, moving silently through the hallway. If you stayed any longer, your dad would know you had been eavesdropping. And that wasn’t a risk you were willing to take—not yet.
The rest of the evening passed in a haze. By the time you made it back to your apartment, your mind was still reeling.
What the hell was Bucky Barnes doing in a business meeting with your father?
The Tony Stark you knew had always operated on the right side of the law—at least, that’s what he led everyone to believe. He had spent his life as one of the city’s most high-profile attorneys, a man with power and influence, someone who was respected and feared in equal measure. And yet, tonight, you had seen something different.
You had seen him working with criminals.
You pulled out your phone, debating whether to call him or not. But what would you even say? Hey Dad, mind telling me why you’re cutting deals with the same men you’d normally have arrested?
No. You needed more information before you made a move.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next night at The Howling Wolf was busier than usual. The usual crowd of bikers, drifters, and locals had packed into the bar, the scent of whiskey and leather thick in the air. You tried to focus on work, pouring drinks and keeping the conversations light, but your mind was elsewhere.
Bucky hadn’t been around much tonight. He was upstairs in his office again, likely handling more of whatever business he and Steve had been talking about the night before. Every time you caught a glimpse of the door at the top of the stairs, your stomach twisted.
Sam noticed your distraction. He leaned against the bar beside you, crossing his arms. “Alright, spill it. What’s got you looking like you’ve seen a ghost?”
You hesitated. Sam was the kind of guy who could read people a little too well.
“Just tired,” you lied.
He didn’t look convinced. “Uh-huh. And I’m the King of Wakanda.”
You rolled your eyes, but before you could reply, the sound of heavy boots descending the stairs caught your attention. Bucky.
He walked into the bar, his presence commanding as always. His blue eyes scanned the room before they landed on you. For a moment, the rest of the world faded, the noise of the bar dimming as you locked eyes. The air between you crackled, full of the unspoken words and unacknowledged tension that had been growing since the night of your kiss.
You swallowed hard. Now or never.
Taking a deep breath, you made your way around the bar and intercepted him near the back hallway, where the noise of the crowd wouldn’t reach.
“Bucky,” you said, keeping your voice steady.
He raised an eyebrow. “What’s up, doll?”
You hesitated for half a second before lowering your voice. “I saw you last night. At my father’s house.”
Something flickered in his eyes—surprise, maybe, but it was quickly masked.
“And?”
“And you were having a meeting with him. I want to know why.”
Bucky exhaled slowly, his gaze never leaving yours. “It’s complicated.”
“That’s not an answer.”
A new voice cut in before Bucky could respond.
“Wait.”
Steve had appeared beside Bucky, arms crossed over his chest. His brows furrowed as he stared at you. “Your father?”
You frowned. “Yeah. Tony Stark. Why?”
Bucky and Steve exchanged a look—one filled with genuine shock.
“Holy shit,” Bucky muttered under his breath.
“You mean to tell me,” Steve started slowly, as if piecing it together, “that you’re Stark’s kid?”
The confusion in their expressions threw you off. “You didn’t know?”
“Hell no,” Bucky said, shaking his head. “We thought you were just a bartender trying to make a living. Not his daughter.”
The realization settled over all of you. The secrecy, the hesitation, the way Bucky had refused to talk—it suddenly made sense.
“Does Tony know you work here?” Steve asked.
You nodded. “Yeah, but I don’t think he knows… about you two. At least, I didn’t think he did.”
Bucky let out a dry chuckle, running a hand through his hair. “Well, shit. That complicates things.”
You narrowed your eyes. “What the hell is going on, Bucky?”
He sighed, rubbing his jaw before finally meeting your gaze again. “Tomorrow night. My place. I’ll explain everything.”
You hesitated. Was this really a good idea? You weren’t sure. But you also knew you weren’t going to let this go.
“Fine,” you said, crossing your arms. “I’ll be there.”
Bucky and Steve exchanged another glance, something unspoken passing between them. Then, without another word, Bucky turned and walked away, leaving you standing in the dimly lit hallway, heart pounding, mind racing.
Tomorrow, you’d get the truth.
Or at least, you hoped you would.

Previous chapter: Chapter 1: ''Damn, I think I'm in love''
Chapter 2: ''This is a bad idea"
Tumblr media
The next morning you made your way back to The Howling Wolf earlier than you should have. The bar wasn’t open yet, but you could hear movement inside. Probably staff getting the bar ready for the day.
You hesitated at the door, then pushed inside. A few heads turned in your direction, but no one stopped you. You made your way to the bar, where Nat was wiping down glasses. She raised an eyebrow as you approached.
‘’Didn’t think I’d see you here so soon’’ she mused, leaning on the counter.
‘’Well, me neither to be honest, are you guys hiring?’’ You asked with some hesitation
Nat studied you for a moment before smirking ‘’we are, Peter just quit last week, couldn’t handle the bikers. But I am sure you will handle yourself just fine’’ she said thinking back to yesterday night where you threatened a guy for grabbing your ass.
You nodded along with a sly smile before Nat spoke again ‘’ You got any experience?”
You took a seat at the bar before answering her question ‘’I don’t actually, I have been busy with school these last few years barely had any time for a job. But I’m in my last year right now with a lot of time on my hands, so I want to make myself useful’’ you smiled at her.
Nat looked at you while tilting her head ‘’ what are you studying sweets?’’
I smiled at her ‘’I am studying law right now, specializing in criminal law’’
Nat looked surprised ‘’Smart girl, surprised you are looking for a job here’’
You looked around the bar ‘’Well change a of scenery can never do you wrong, right?’’
Before Nat could reply, heavy footsteps sounded behind you.
‘’You looking for a job, doll?’’
You tuned around on your seat and found yourself face to face with Bucky. His arms were crossed, his expression unreadable.
You looked up at him before answering ‘’Yeah, I am actually’’
Bucky exchanged a look with Nat, who just smirked. ‘’Told you she was interesting’’
He studied you for a long moment, then nodded. ‘’Come back tonight. We’ll see what you’ve got’’
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By the time the bar opened, Nat had been behind the counter, running you through the drinks and showing you where everything was. The place filled up quickly, and it didn’t take long before you were in the thick of it. Orders were coming fast, bikers were shouting across the bar, and the occasional drunk who needed to be put in his place.
While making all the drinks you and Nat had been talking a lot, she told you about Bucky and Steve. Sometimes Sam would jump in to make a joke or add some details to a story Nat was telling. It didn’t take very long before you became comfortable around them laughing with them and joking around just like you had always been there.
While you were busy with Sam and Nat making and serving drinks, Bucky watched from upstairs. The security cameras giving him a full view of the bar below. He saw how you moved effortlessly, slinging drinks, keeping the crowd in check and handling the pressure like you have been doing it your whole life. To say he was impressed was an understatement.
Then it happened.
One of the rougher customers, a guy who had already been pushing his luck all night, grabbed your wrist as you turned to grab a bottle from the shelf. “Hey, babe, how about you pay a little attention to me?”
You didn’t flinch. Instead, you twisted his fingers back sharply, making him yelp and release you. “Try that again,” you said coolly, “and you’ll be drinking through a straw for the next six months.”
The guy muttered something under his breath but backed down, rubbing his fingers. The situation had barely lasted five seconds, but it was enough to set Bucky off.
He didn’t even realize he was standing until Steve called him out. “Relax, Buck. She’s got it under control.”
Bucky grunted but didn’t sit back down. He watched you for a long moment before turning away, running a hand through his hair.
As you went on to make more drinks, you saw Bucky making his way to the bar out of the corner of your eye. Without a word he grabbed the customer who touched you by the collar lifted him up from his stool. You looked at him and he looked back at you, winking before dragging the rude customer towards the door and throwing him out.
You smiled to yourself while shaking your head, watching how Bucky went back into his office just as if nothing had happened.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By the time the bar was closing, it was just you, Nat and Sam cleaning up. The night had been long, but you felt good, like you had proven yourself.
Then the door slammed open.
Two men strolled in like they owned the place - Brock Rumlow and Helmut Zemo, leaders of the rival biker gang in town.
During all the cleaning Nat and Sam had filled in you about they’re background story with the other bikers in town. So, you knew enough to understand that Bucky and Steve weren’t the biggest fans of Brock Rumlow and Helmut Zemo.
Nat tensed beside you. ‘’What the hell do you want’’
Rumlow smirked, scanning the room before his eyes landed on you. ‘’Just checking in. Heard you got some new blood inside the bar’’
Zemo stepped forward, his gaze locking onto you with unsettling interest. ‘’What’s you name, darling’’
You didn’t answer, you just narrowed your eyes at him.
He reached out, fingers brushing against your arm and travelling towards your face, he slid his thumb against your lips before grabbing your chin. ‘’I won’t ask you again’’
Something inside you snapped. Your palm met his cheek with a sharp slap, sending a stunned silence through the room.
Before he could react, the sound of heavy boots echoed from the stairwell. Bucky and Steve appeared behind you, moving like shadows.
Bucky stepped in front of you, his stance screaming violence. “You really want to do this here, Zemo?”
Zemo exhaled slowly, a dangerous smile curling his lips. “We’re just being friendly.”
Bucky didn’t blink. “Then be friendly somewhere else.”
The tension stretched thick before Zemo chuckled, rubbing his jaw. “This isn’t over, Barnes.”
Bucky didn’t move until they were gone, the door slamming shut behind them. His shoulders only relaxed slightly before he turned to you, eyes dark with worry.
“You, okay?”
You swallowed, still feeling the heat of his presence in front of you. “Yeah.”
He didn’t move for a second, just stood there, as if weighing something in his mind.
Then, finally, he spoke. “Good. You start full-time tomorrow.”
As he walked away, you let out a breath you hadn’t realized you were holding.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next week was quiet you went about your day studying and working at the bar in the evening, your dad didn’t even notice you were out almost the whole week.
You enjoyed working at the bar, the unspoken but undeniable tension between you and Bucky had been growing. Every glance, every near-touch, every heated exchange only added fuel to the fire.
He found you irresistible, how you got along with Nat, Sam and even Steve at some point was only making it harder for him. When he learned that you were studying law you become even more interesting for him.
Bucky had built this bar for entertainment reasons, a place to come together with the biker squad, but behind it all him and Steve were working on stopping all the drug shipments coming into town.
Brock and Zemo were the ones who bought the drugs and who were responsible for transporting the drugs, Steve and Bucky had managed to stop a few of those transports and successfully destroyed all the drugs.
Occasionally they had help from Tony, a well- know and very rich lawyer in town who got them out of trouble and made sure they were always out of the sight from the police. But Tony had mentioned he wanted to step down and leave the business to his daughter.
Bucky and Steve didn’t like the idea of his daughter taking over, having no idea who she is and what she is capable of. What they didn’t know is that said daughter had just stared working at Bucky’s very own bar.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tonight, the bar was quieter than usual, the slow hum of conversation and soft rock music filling the space. Most of the staff had already clocked out, leaving only you and Sam to finish cleaning up the bar. Bucky had been upstairs in his office handling some business for most of the night, but now as you wiped down the bar for the final time, he appeared. Strolling towards the bar and leaning against the counter with a frown on his face.
‘’Drink’’ you offered, raising a bottle of whiskey.
His lips quirked. ‘’You tryin’ to get me drunk, doll’’
You rolled your eyes while smiling, pouring two glasses without answering. He took the one you slid towards him, watching you over the rim as he took a slow sip.
‘’Why are you still here?’’ He asked after a moment.
You frowned. ‘’It’s my job”
‘’That’s not what I meant’’
You hesitated. The way he was looking at you -intense, searching- made it hard to breathe. ‘’I like working here, being needed somewhere’’ you admitted.
His jaw flexed as if he wasn’t sure whether to believe you. ‘’You should be careful who you get close to around here’’
You arched a brow ‘’That a warning?’’
‘’A fact’’
You took a sip of your drink, the burn doing nothing to dull the heat between you. ‘’Well, maybe I don’t scare easy’’
His smirk was slow, deliberate. ‘’I noticed’’
The silence stretched, thick and charged, before he finally moved. It was subtle at first, the brush of his fingers against yours as he reached for his glass, the way his body angled slightly towards you. Then in a move that had your breath hitching, he leaned in, close enough that you could smell the whiskey on his breath, the faint trace of leather and smoke clinging to him.
‘’You keep looking at me like that’’ he muttered ‘’and I’m gonna do something about it’’
Your pulse hammers, but you refused to back down. ‘’Maybe I want you to’’
For a moment, neither of you moved. The world outside the bar didn’t exist, just the two of you, the electric pull drawing you closer.  Then with a low curse, Bucky closed the distance, his lips crashing onto yours.
It was fire, hot, consuming and impossible to stop. His hands found your waist pulling you flush against him, while yours tangled in his hair. Fingers threading through the dark strands. He kissed like a starved man, like he’d been holding back for too long, you matched his intensity with your own, letting yourself get lost in his touch.
When he finally pulled back, both of you breathless, he rested his forehead against yours. ‘’This is a bad idea’’ he muttered.
‘’Probably’’ you whispered. ‘’But do you really care?”
His fingers tightened on your waist. ‘’Not even a litte’’
Neither did you.
