I could see that! For me I headcanon that he really kinda didn’t know his wants, and it kinda confused him. I tend to go very angsty/romantic at times though. Like he was like “wtf? Who AM I as a ghost?” But he was smitten in a way he had never been before. However, his stupid brain was still trying to make sense of why a dang ghost from 1895 is the only woman he’s ever really been crazy about. He remained in denial for a good 23 years. Lol

I always wondered if the ghosts really cared much about physical age difference (so long as it’s not crazy, like Stephanie). At this point Hetty & Trevor look the same age in a lot of scenes & pics. I know they had aged the character of Hetty up a bit in the early part of the 1st season, but that was when they were still basing a lot off the BBC version. I think the bigger issue has always been the 105 year difference 🤣 Trevor, newly dead, being all “I go for models in bikinis, and now I’m crazy for a ‘Victorian’ chick. WTF???”

Random Trevor Lefkowitz Headcanons

(Yes, he has some good angst ones too, because I have zero chill)

*He has Bipolar II . This isn’t something he ever really discusses or even acknowledges, except on very rare occasions. It’s still something he finds very embarrassing & kept it very hidden from his bros, to the point of not medicating or receiving treatment for it. The only people he’s mentioned it to are Alberta, Hetty, and Sas. (I’ll probably write up something on just the Bipolar II at another point. Sadly, it explains a lot of ‘plot holes’ with Trevor & is almost a little too on point 😭)

*He died with cigarettes & a lighter in his pocket. American Spirit blues. He has only ever shared them with Hetty because he doesn’t want everyone else globing onto him.

*unfortunately, he left the cocaine in his pants pocket. Adam Pinkus had a fun ride home.

* Adam was one of the only true friends he had made in a long time. Perhaps his only true friend in his adult life.

*As much as he wishes he could have gotten to know Abby, he’s glad that Adam had raised her. He simply could not handle being a dad at that time, let alone many other things. He knows Adam was more equipped to handle fatherhood and marriage than he was at that point.

*He had totally forgotten who Laurie Goldstein was. He’s pretty ashamed of that, but super thankful for Adam.

* Hetty was actually his longest relationship. Yes, even longer than the girl he had moved in with for a bit.

* He’s been in love with Hetty since he died. He was just super weird about it for, like, 22 years. And he still is.

* The reason why the “Good Luck Chuck” situation actually upset him, was because he was upset about how Hetty wanted to get sucked off, despite how they were together. He had been spending a lot of time helping Thor through his grief with Flower, and couldn’t stand the idea of having to go through that as well. But, that was more emotion than he was comfortable with, so he just kinda spun out and got angry.

*It’s not that he didn’t see the chord. He just rationalized that it was from something else (like a part of her outfit),…anything else.

*The reason why Trevor said he didn’t want to get back together with Hetty was because he didn’t want to risk them breaking up again. It makes sense in his mind.

*Pretty much, Trevor sucks at emotion, but we all know this.

*He can only fall asleep with the tv on in the background.

* He’s completely over Bela romantically. He was never actually super into her, but more the idea of feeling “alive” again. He does care about her, though. However, it’s more in an “older brother” way, as Bela reminds him a lot of Jeremy.

* He really wants Jay to like him, and is upset that Jay kinda dismisses him, especially when he feels he’s gone out of his way to be more helpful to Jay than Pete has. He really wants to impress Jay and win him over.

*The Elias thing is complicated. Obviously, he hates the guy. However, Elias reminds him a lot of Ari, so despite absolutely hating him, there’s a small amount of him that wants to impress Elias in a “you’re my only worthy opponent” sort of way. Deep down, he fears he might have turned out like Elias if he had not died when he did. (Ok, not so much a headcanon, as a lot of that comes from one of Asher’s interviews.)

* He’s actually super into ornithology.

* At some point he started writing poetry on the iPad in the kitchen. He will deny that for all eternity. It’s actually pretty good.

…..I have a bunch more that I’ll probably add on later. But that’s all for now.

Trevor is the clingiest of clingers (literally. He always looks so forlorn if she’s not in the same room as him & standing right next to him). Hetty’s generally pretty touch-averse. Yet, they make it work in their own weird little way, because they are both just so *fond* of each other. 🥹

This is so cute! OMG!

After Sophie Woodstone dies, Sam and Jay inherit the house, happy to discover that its all theirs… until they realize that Sophie Woodstone had eight foster kids that are all about to go back into the system.

Thor Finn is the oldest and seventeen, almost about to age out of the system. He was abandoned by his parents in a foreign country and no one was ever able to identify him or his family, and as a result ended up in the US system. He has some pretty bad anger and abandonment issues, causing him to cling to his foster siblings.

Sassapis is the second oldest, at fifteen, and closest with Thor. It’s unsure how he ended up in foster care, and he keeps information of his life before (and after) close to his chest. He’s pretty cynical and sarcastic but he really enjoys creative writing and drama and keeps a bunch of stories in his notebook. 

Isaac is fourteen, and his family kept him in such poor conditions that he actually ended up developing dysentery. Why they did so, no one knows and if Isaac does he’s not telling. He’s a huge revolutionary war buff and theatre kid, and hates the Musical Hamilton because he didn’t get cast as the lead during freshman year.

Hetty is also fourteen and was a part of a very wealthy family until her father was caught trying to marry her off to a much older man for some money. She has very conservative beliefs but slowly begins to form her own opinions. She can be cold at first, but is surprisingly warm to her family

Alberta is thirteen and believes that she was kidnapped from her real family who she doesn’t remember. She continually tries to find traces of them or evidence that they’re still out there, and has ran away several times before to try and find them. She’s also a theatre kid and a really good singer, with dreams to be a star.

Flower is twelve and was born in a cult and was fully indoctrinated into their beliefs, growing up in a very unsafe space, with extreme views about lack of privacy, hygiene, diet and general life. After the cult was busted for robbing a bank she was placed in the foster care system and separated from her older brother.

Pete is also twelve and is a very good pinecone scout. After an incident with bullying goes too far and he’s shot with an arrow, triggering a CPS investigation it’s ruled that his father isn’t fit to take care of him. In spite of everything he has an unyielding positive attitude that can’t be stopped and believes that he and his friends will all get adopted one day.

Trevor as the youngest, is eleven years old, and was removed from his last foster home after he accidentally ingested some of his foster father’s illegal drugs. He’s a little bratty and for the past couple years his only role model was a sleazy finance bro who took him in as a PR stunt, and bought his silence with fancy things.

Jay is hesitant about this, but Sam feels bad because they’re basically family to her and wants to get to know them. The kids aren’t happy about this and try and cause them a whole lot of trouble to get them to leave them alone. (Sophie was pretty bed-ridden towards the end they’re used to being able to do their own thing). One of these attempts by Trevor lands Sam in a coma for a week and all the kids pretty shaken up. Jay is upset about this, until Trevor starts crying and then he realizes just how traumatized these kids are and they decide to stay.

I’m now thinking of how I posted a Tweet a while back about how Thor & Hetty are very Valjean & Cosette coded, and then @tabbyofwisdom and I spun out and created a whole Ghosts/Les Miz fusion/au. The cast is as follows:

I posted on Twitter about how Thor & Hetty are Valjean & Cosette coded, and Asher liked the Tweet; so I think they very much imply the father/daughter bond, but need to show more of it!!! It’s seriously my favorite relationship in the show (aside from H$, which is of a totally different nature). And one of my favorite story lines ❤️❤️❤️

When will we have a verbal acknowledgement of Thor and Hetty's father/daughter bond? A parent who never got to raise his child singing to and comforting a little girl who was all but invisible to her father and dumped on nannies her entire childhood. Let them be the family we all know they are. Cowards.

While of course they’ll never hold the place in my heart that H$ does , since I literally have only two pairings at *that* level: Trevor/Hetty & Telemachus/Athena (Homeric, not ‘Epic! the Musical’; and they were my thesis, at that), I think Palberta is adorable! I adore Sas/Joan too.

I’m actually working on an H$ one-shot right now that features Palberta ❤️

Yeah. Like, I honestly wouldn’t have even been like “why no H$ kiss?!” had it not been for the random-seeming Palberta FINALE kiss that was treated as thought it had H$-level build up.

Like, if they had switched the order of the Palberta kiss & Sas losing his virginity to Joan, I would have been like “ok, that makes sense”. There had been build up all season for Sas losing his v-card, and I literally cheered when he did. Or if they had more build-up THIS season for Palberta.

Palberta is definitely cute, though. I truly like all the ships. I’m just hardcore H$. But, they’re different types of romantic relationships.

In theory, I totally agree with people who are weary of all the Ghosts seemingly having to be paired up, but in reality I've ended up liking all the ships in question - including (especially?!) the oddly sweet, complementary, not-even-official couple that is Pete and Alberta.

For all three people on this planet who join me in shipping Palberta, I just started a fic - should be a huge hit, lol ;)

Yeah. I don’t mind the pairings at all. I’m just more “meh” about the timing of Palberta. Like, it seems almost like an asterisk they forgot and rushed it without much build up.

Palberta being the season finale kiss just didn’t seem “earned”. Especially compared to H$, who had been given a lot of build up this past season, and just over the past two seasons in general.

I actually like the slow burn build up of H$. I know the Joes and the cast are super aware that they’re pretty much THE fan favorite at this point, so they likely will hold off and make their getting back together until they can make it a big plot. Also, the Joes have hinted in current interviews that they’re likely going explore issues with the current ghost relationships & they might not be long lasting/endgame. I could see them not including H$ in that grouping, since they heavily give the vibe that once they get back together, it will be an endgame thing; especially since they’re laying out the groundwork for a very solid foundation for their relationship moving forward.

That said, I honestly didn’t expect H$ to get back together in the finale age honestly, wouldn’t have been like “wtf?” when suddenly Palberta got the finale kiss , had there not been SO much H$ build up and such minimal Palberta build up.

It’s kinda like being at a cookout or food festival, and for weeks the host was talking about how there was going to be lobster. Lobster is advertised everywhere, and it is non-stop lobster, lobster, lobster. Then, when you get there, you’re served lobster bisque but the main course is burgers. The burgers are great, but there was zero mention of them, and all this build up for lobster. If I’m making any sense 🤣
