Making a study space, with no space
Tumblr media
Here is another new series! This is for all the students out there who feel like because they have no space they can’t have a desk, or they can’t have a dedicated study area. This series will show ways to make the most of what you have, similar to Hermione’s beaded bag!
Idea #1
Have corner, will study. Corners can be your best friend when you have little space to work with! Get a small desk, (I use this one) and a smaller lamp like the small zebra lamp seen in the picture up top! This desk is tiny, but its big enough to fit my laptop and a notebook as well as my mason jar for my pens! This is in a corner in my room, as I live in a one bedroom apartment. I have plans to spruce it up with some string lights and wall decor! I thought it would be impossible to study in a place this small, but using this space that was otherwise unused was the perfect fit!

Again! Your studyblr is supposed to help improve your grades and habits! That’s what we’re all working towards! Don’t worry about your followers, your notes, picture quality, or fancy stationery - those are nice but not the goal! What’s really important is that you succeed!

Friendly reminder to check you’re not holding tension in your body. Let your shoulders drop, unclench your hands and jaw. Take a deep breath. Much better.

my whole life i've been shit at math & for about six years of my education i had the worst teacher i honestly don't know how i made it to college. it's been 3 years since i last took a math class bc my major doesn't require math BUT i want to relearn it in a good way, obvs this time by myself. i really have minimum basic math knowledge so i was wondering, do u know of any apps/books/websites where i can learn math by myself? tips or anything i'd appreciate it so much! thank you x
Tumblr media
Hey, anon. I’m sorry that that’s been the case for you. I can relate with english b/c that’s, like, my WORST subject but, I made up for my difficulty picking up the subject matter by first talking with my teacher and working on my assignments with her outside class as well as attending tutoring.
But math is pretty different from english, and you’re self-studying, so here are some websites/books for studying math!
SchoolYourself (completely free and ranges from pre-algebra to calculus, even statistics!)
MIT Open Courseware (for higher division math, gives problem sets used in MIT classes!!)
The Math Page (excuse the graphic design – this has more basic math courses for self-learning)
Khan Academy (the Holy Grail, example problems and videos ranging from early math to differential equations!!!)
Also, if you find yourself struggling:
how to do math if you’re struggling by @studycoffee-drinkstudies
how to take notes for math by @studyessie
math study & exam tips by @studymelody
Remember that I’d also be happy to help you more if you want. Feel free to PM me, and I’ll tell you my discord handle. My inbox is always open, love, and good luck!

The Hogwarts House as Students (Based on People I Know)
Gryffindor
listens to anime osts while studying
highlights everything, gOD
acts like a roman orator during class reports
“pisses off” the teacher with their jokes but is secretly probably the teacher’s fave student
mnemonics
either studies ahead of time or DOESN’T SLEEP FOR 48 HOURS BECAUSE THEY PROCRASTINATED (there is no in between)
 flashcards galore
gets elected as class president because their friends thought it would be funny (but is actually pretty good at the job??)
determination to succeed even when they’re already too done with everything
Ravenclaw
has 100 highlighters and a system for how to use them
“do you think i’ll still have to take the exam if i die from caffeine overdose?”
really creative bullet journals (or minimalist layouts)
“how do you have such perfect handwriting?” “oh, it’s always been that way.” *actually spent 1000 hours perfecting it*
scrolls through the studyblr tag and calls it studying
posts something on studyblr and calls it studying
procrastinates a lot tbh.
classical music
gets anxious about not studying. still not studying because they’re too anxious to start. (relatable?)
always getting irrational thoughts about their “failing” grades
Hufflepuff
lots of colorful pens
a e s t h e t i c  study spaces
extra af when it comes to projects (they’ll probably wear a mammoth costume during their report about the ice age. y’know, for authenticity)
working really hard for a subject they are not good at. feeling very satisfied when they get a high grade on that subject.
probably expects the worst so they don’t get disappointed
helping others study
sharing their notes
comforts other students who are having nervous breakdowns but they probably need comforting as well
all-nighters.
Slytherin
motivational quotes
studying extra hard for a subject someone told them they’re not good at, purely for the satisfaction of proving them wrong
they’re e x t r a af, in general
getting really high grades, but only seeing that one grade that was lower than they expected
either really organized or really messy (but, like, in an organized way)
mind maps and flowcharts
look calm as fuck when it comes to tests but it’s probably because they’re disassociating lmao
working hard not just because they like it, but because they simply don’t like the thought of failing
really supportive of their friends but at the same time bitter when they get higher marks at something (but only because they see it as a sign of personal failure)
has high standards for them themselves. at the same time, they feel like everyone expects too much of them.

eleven little self care tips for students
Get enough sleep. Your brain needs it. Set yourself a ‘bed time’ and fall into the routine of going to bed and waking up at the same times each day.
Drink water and lots of it. Aim for 2 litres a day. This one’s easy, you can do it. Ditch the juices and carbonated beverages, just add a slice of lemon to your water if you feel like something fancy.
Allow yourself to switch off. Don’t be afraid to read books that have nothing to do with your studies. Go to the cinema. Work out. Take your mind away from your workload.
Take care of your skin. Wash your face every morning and night. Moisturise after every shower and bath. Don’t go to bed with your make-up on, no matter how tired you are.
Talk to your friends and family about something other than school. Don’t let your studies detach you from the things going on around you.
Work out. Even just once a week, or whenever you can. Go for a walk or a run, maybe just for 15 minutes. Follow along with a YouTube exercise video from the comfort of your own home or try out some yoga moves.
Make time for your hobbies. Studying is your full time job, but there’s plenty of hours left in the day. Don’t neglect the things you love.
Cook. Sometimes all we have time for is microwave noodles, but don’t fall into the habit of relying on the basics. You’ll feel the difference.
Don’t forget to laugh. Watch a hilarious film. See a comedian at a local venue. Watch funny videos on YouTube. Reminisce with friends. It’ll do you good.
Ditch the caffeine. Don’t rely on Starbucks. It’s delicious but you don’t need it. Save up all the money you’d usually spend on coffee and treat yourself to something instead.
Make your bed every morning. You’ll be grateful at the end of a long day when you can get into a cosy bed that doesn’t look like you just rolled out of it.
