Soo in my salvi-American moral orel au, the puppingtons are all Salvadoran-Americans, with Orel being a second generation salvi while clay & bloberta were born in El Salvador but raised in America. Since clay didn't have a great relationship with his father he has a lot of internalized racism since his father was salvi, so was his mother, and when she died, he refused to become closer with his father; a very devote Salvadoran catholic man. So in my au l'd imagine he raises Orel with only American catholic values, considering himself only American.

But in the nature comic, he's confronted with the fact that not only has he been hurt by his Salvadoran side (his father) but by his American side as well; as just like in the show, he's not at all happy with having to perform as a WASP father; thus he's disconnected from both sides.

But l'd imagine in my au too that orel's journey is about connecting with both his American & salvi side :,)

I made this au back in high school so it's not the most thought out haha, but it was more a way for me to connect my own self with it since I rlly related to this show at that time
