@ccxeunji | 2016 Holiday Party
The moment the holiday parted officially starts, he makes a beeline for the buffet tables. He’s keen on trying everything from the reindeer-shaped tarts to the holiday ham, and stacks sweets on his plate with all the giddiness of a child. The tower of holiday cookies on his plate, all trimmed in red or green frosting, wobble as he talks. He has an expressive way of talking – the bright, lively kind that involves moving his whole body.
“Sweetheart, you have to try the ganache,” he says, holding out a chocolate truffle. He grins and the brim of his Santa hat slips down, now covering his eyebrows. “Outstanding! Absolutely delicious! The kids really outdid themselves once they knew you were coming. But I don’t blame them for wanting to make a good first impression. After all, they’ve only known you from wallet photos these past two years.”
Thankful to have found a babysitter on such short notice, Eunji allows herself to relax and follow her beloved with easy steps. Taking the sweet from his hand, she lets out a small laugh before taking a bite of it herself. It is good. A pleased hum leaves her as she finishes the treat. Eunji takes note of the lopsided way Sunggyu’s hand sets upon his head and raises her hands to fix it.
“You’re practically vibrating.” she teased, “And I’m really grateful for all this. The kids really did do an amazing job. I feel kinda embarrassed.” she admitted before lowering her hands, “They know so much about me, and I don’t know them all that well.”
Sure she had heard stories, but seeing as she’s either working or taking care of Joon, she can’t really set herself down and learn about all of them.
Her gaze settles on the room around them and all the others crowded about. It had been a while since the two of them went out on any type of ‘date’. Again, they worked and Joon and things just never seemed to work in their favor. But now, Eunji felt as though she was in her early twenties again, next to her sweet and clumsy boyfriend. A small giggle escaped her at the thought. Sunggyu was even more wobbly back then.
“Lead the way,” she hummed, pulling him away from the food. “Lets go look around.”
sweeter than fantasy 🍷

(..)
Joon processes the information slowly and his lower lip sticks out in thought. “If it’s like Pokemon, mommy will be okay,” he says. The four year-old digs his tiny, chubby fingers against the fuzzy creature’s back and squishes clumps of fur. His pet monster sighs in contentment like a tired dog, nuzzling against the child’s touch to get comfortable.
“But Daddy! Fuzzy isn’t even scary!” says Joon. “I know he’s not,” says Sunggyu. “Can you do something for me, Joonie?” “Okay.” “Can you get something sweet and cold for mommy to eat when she wakes up? Like jello or yogurt? Take Fuzzy out there with you, too.”
Joon lifts Fuzzy into his arms. The toddler’s torso leans back from the half-asleep creature’s weight and waddles out of the bedroom, his tiny feet making padding noises against the hallway floors.
This should bide them some time. Joon can never choose between jello and yogurt.
When she came too, she bolted up because the last thing she remembered was some sort of fuzzy monster near her child, but she’s quick to notice that she isn’t in the doorway anymore; instead in her sons bed. Sunggyu is beside her and Joon is nowhere to be seen, though with knowing her husband, Joon is most likely safe.
Her hand raised to her hair as she brushed back her fringe, before glancing towards her lover - fear clear in her gaze. “Please tell me you saw that thing.” she whispered, “Tell me I’m not crazy.” her voice came out in a pleading tone, because after last night, she wouldn’t be surprised if all her worrying and stressed caused her to hallucinate.
She searched her husbands face for answers to what was going through his head, he was quite for a moment, uncharacteristically so. Usually he was talking a mile a minute. Now, he was lost for words. It worried her; her hand now squeezing its twin in her lap as she tucked her bottom lip between her teeth.
A nervous habit.
“Sunggyu?”
If what she saw was really real, then what else was out there? So many questions ran through her head.

“Where’s the spider?” he says stifling a yawn. “Or is it a centipede this time? Don’t worry, honey! Whatever it is, your super brave husband will kill it!
He’s in a surprisingly good mood for someone who slept slouched over a table. Then again, that’s the best sleep he’s had in awhile.
Eunji couldn’t believe that Sunggyu didn’t see the thing in their son’s arms, their son who was now slowly waking up due to the commotion. She was frozen, unable to do anything as her son smiled at her with that thing in his arms. Sunggyu wasn’t even doing anything, he couldn’t see anything - was she going insane?
It had certainly felt that way lately.
“I-I ... That, thing. The fuzzy thing.... It’s right there.” she whispered, before her eyes rolled back and she fell back onto the floor, loosing consciousness. It was all too much for her to handle all at once. Mixing it in with what happened the night before and now this?
As her form collapsed, Joon let out a small scream - “Momma!” eye’s wide in surprise and fear.

COOK
Cook:
Eunji was almost impressed with how well Ricky listened to her, his brow frowned in focus as he carefully seasoned the sauce following her instructions. With her hands on her hip, she gave a small laugh.
“Looks like you’re a natural.” she teased, “You’ll be making pasta like a pro in no time.”
The smile he sent her way was enough to warm her heart; truly she was proud. Ricky was someone she saw as family; a younger sibling.
She checked the water for the noodles before nodding to herself, “It’s about done.” her lips formed a smile as she raised a hand to ruffle the others hair. “We’ll see how it tastes.”
Eunji was sure it would be perfect.

ccgyu:
Sunggyu sighs into his tea and although grateful for something warm, feels his eyelids drooping before he takes a second sip. “I don’t want to fall asleep,” he thinks, resting his chin in his hands. “We never fall asleep upset at each other.”
The kitchen clock’s ticking is soothing, the tablecloth feels plush under his bruised elbows, and his empty stomach leads him to daydream about breakfast. It’s only a matter of minutes until he slouches over the kitchen table.
The tea goes to waste. He’s fast asleep.
The next morning is hard; opening her eyes she her sons sleeping face, and remembered that she crawled into bed with him the night before. Sighing, she sat herself up and made her way from her sons room to her shared room with her husband. She noticed the bed untouched and wondered if he fell asleep in the living room. She flinches slightly; guilty. But she couldn’t have gone back to her husband without crying, and she didn’t want him to see her like that.
Eunji moves to her bedside table, she pulls a bottle of painkillers out of the drawer, head pounding slightly...It’s then she takes note of a pair of glasses setting on top of the nightstand. She thinks back to the moment she got them, the odd encounter with a mysterious figure. ‘You’ll see the unseen.” .
“Rubbish.” she mutters in English, before taking them in her hand. She makes her way out of the room and sets them on her face. Nothing. A sigh left her lips. “I knew it.”
Her head tilts slightly as she takes a glance towards her sleeping son - she freezes, eyes going wide as a scream ripples through her lips. What the fuck was that - !
“SUNGGYU!”

ccgyu:
“Eunji, don’t worry yourself,” he says, smiling sheepishly. “I know how to take a punch even if I’m not built like Superman.” He pats himself around the middle in a playful manner, but also to redirect her focus. Why worry when he’s exactly the same that he’s always been? When even if he’s sporting a black eye, he’ll never be anything but normal Kim Sunggyu? And what’s normal for him is being the handsome husband with killer puns and a butt that pulls off a khaki-and-phone-holster ensemble like no other. Nothing about his bright, oversized shirts and frequent midnight tiptoeing to the fridge for leftover lasagna hints at him saving the world on a daily basis. His wife can search for all the evidence she wants, but she’ll only find a mundane life and endless wallet-sized photographs of Joon.
“Is there anything that I can be doing for you?” he says. “Are you hungry? I haven’t made you my world famous pancakes in awhile, right? With a special strawberry on top for my own little strawberry?”
Her lashes flutter as her husband rests his palm upon her cheek. She wants to scream at him; ‘How many more punches are you going to take?’ ‘When will you come home without some sort of injury?’ ‘When will you tell me the truth?’...
“I don’t need anything.” she mumbled low, voice shaking slightly. How she was able to keep her raging emotions in check was beyond her - she shifted her gaze and swallowed thickly before raising her hand and placing it on Sunggyu’s wrist. “Drink some tea...I-I’m going to go check on Joon.” she slowly removed her lover’s hand from her face before standing up and shuffling towards their sons room. She needed a moment to keep herself from breaking down and begging Sunggyu for some sort of clarity.
Her frame leaned against the doorway to her sons room. His calm sleeping expression only reminded her of how fragile life can be. There their son sleeps, oblivious of his fathers injuries; blissfully unaware of his mothers confliction.
Eunji sniffles, wiping at the silent tears falling down her face. She’s scared. She wants to trust Sunggyu, believe that he will be okay, that he’ll always come home. But after seeing yet another mark on her husband, she can only imagine what might happen next time.
Her head is spinning, stomach upset. She rests a hand on her abdomen, wondering if she’s nauseous because of how terrified she is.
She wouldn’t be surprised.

cook and/or drink!!
Cook:
The two of them had decided on making a cake. Daniel had come over to waste some time and Eunji’s door was always open to the younger; after all. She liked to consider her home open to most of the kids who ended up popping up in her life. A safe place to go.
Of course, in baking a cake one must first mix the ingredients, and unfortunately for Eunji she had worn a black shirt that day. Flour was all over the counter and herself; but she didn’t blame Daniel - even though the other had technically been the one to get it everywhere.
“Next time lets get the pre mixed box.” she laughed, wiping a bit of flour off of her guest, “And we’ll just work our way to baking from scratch.”

ccgyu:
“It’ll look better in the morning,” he says. “All it needs is a little ice, a little sleeping in on a lazy Sunday, a little more ice after that, and maybe if I’m lucky…a little kiss from my pretty wife to make it feel better?”
Sunggyu looks up at her and a teasing glint flashes in his eyes. Perhaps it’s all in vain, but he tries keeping the atmosphere light. With a content sigh, he places his hand over her’s and gives her fingers a squeeze. “It’ll be okay,” he says. “Here, I’ll hold the pack so your hands don’t get too cold.”
A man on the subway?
Her brows frown, something isn’t right. His story makes sense. Men often wandered around intoxicated in their city; it was more or less sociably acceptable actually. But for some reason she didn’t buy it. Not completely. She knew he got hit, that’s for sure. But the little marks on his skin; “So, the man wore a lot a rings?” she mumbled, eyes examining the injury. She didn’t want to push it much further though. She could tell her husband was tired.
But she was worried. Sunggyu rarely lied to her, and it was never about anything important, but now? She could tell he wasn’t saying everything. Lowering her hand, she wordlessly went to the kitchen to grab his tea before returning and setting it on the table beside the chair. “Of course I’ll kiss you.” she mumbled, “But, I want you to have some tea first and relax. It must have been pretty scary. I’m glad you’re alright...Maybe you should consider coming home a little earlier? If you’re out too late you might get hurt again.”
She had Joon to think about as well. What would he say when he woke up and saw his fathers face? He might cry. She’d have to explain how it’s dangerous to go out at night sometimes. And that’s a conversation she isn’t looking forward to having. Her hand rests gently on Sunggyu’s thigh before giving it a slight squeeze.
“Do you want me to set the shower up for you? Maybe it’ll help you relax a bit.”
All she wanted was the truth; but she didn’t want to hurt Sunggyu in the process. No matter how much it pained her to worry and wonder, she didn’t want her husband to feel attacked. He had enough of that growing up.

ccgyu:
He doesn’t mean to sound so disappointed.
Wouldn’t a normal husband be flattered to have their spouse wait for them? And have the energy to swoop their lover into their arms and kiss the hours away? A normal husband wouldn’t sound this crushed, he thinks. Sunggyu braces himself for the questioning, the worrying, and the lying.
It already hurts.
She had just finished pouring tea into the second cup when the familiar sound of keys jingling caught her attention. As she set the kettle down, her eyes moved towards the door, watching as he husband came through the threshold. The smile he flashes towards her barely goes noticed, not when her attention is caught imminently by the large red and purple bruise on the side of her husbands face. A gasp leaves her lips, everything he says goes in one ear and out the other; Eunji only slightly feeling put off by his disappointment.
“What the hell?” she whispered, “What happened?” she made herself quiet even though she wanted to scream. Their son was asleep. Joon shouldn’t have to see his dad like this, not so late.
Eunji rushed over and moved Sunggyu’s hand so she could get a better look at the mark, her fingers lightly brushed his cheek up, before she winced - as though she could feel the sting herself.
“Did someone attack you on the way home? Should we call the police?” a million things ran through her head; the biggest one of them all was the possibility of her husband having been hurt worse.
“Let met get you ice -” she wasn’t really thinking straight, too many things running through her head as she turned on her heal and made her way to the freezer, she knew they had ice packs for when his shoulder and thigh would become sore from the automail. Her actions were clumsy as she fumbled with grabbing the damn pack and closing the freezer before making Sunggyu move to sit in the very chair she was in earlier.
She gently placed the pack on the bruise and gave her husband a worried look; “Sunggyu what happened?” Eunji’s voice was small, desperate to know why her husband came to her like this; injured again.

DATE, LOVE, AND...LUST! ;)
Date:
Eunji is wearing a wool dress and thick tights; the weather calls for bundling up and she’s ready to partake in the long scarfs and hats November calls for. Her hands are tucked into mittens and fuzzy socks keep her feet warm in her boots. She’s prepared.
Her husband stands next to her, dressed in a similar style, warm and bundled. Their hands are clasped together tightly as they wait for their turn to cross the street. Joon is with Jinil for the day while the married couples goes on on a date. Something they haven’t done in a while. Eunji is excited of course, she feels as though she’s a teenager again, going out with her boyfriend to the movies. It’s cliche, and she loves it.
Her body leans against Sunggyu’s as the cars past, hand squeezing his. Eunji is content.
Love:
Lazy afternoon’s is something Eunji looks forward to most. Her son asleep at the end of the bed with his gameboy in hand, her husband lazily leaning against her shoulder as they watch whatever is on the Television. Her head is resting against his own and she feels complete. Her family is all right here with her, curled up on their king sized bed ( something they both wanted even though it took up so much space in their room ).
She loves it. Loves her son, her husband, her life. Her hand reaches to brush back a bit of Sunggyu’s hair and he takes her hand silently and brings it to his lips. Her cheeks tint pink and she smiles. It’s when he doesn’t try does he make her heart beat the fastest. Just Sunggyu being himself causes her stomach to fill with butterflies.
Lust
She has to thank Jinil for babysitting, but that would have to be at a later time.
Her hands are currently braced against Sunggyu’s chest as her husband leans down to press kisses to her forehead, nose and cheeks - before finally reaching her lips. Her heart sores and her hands slip and reach around to wrap around her husband’s neck as she pulls their bodies closer together. It had been a long while since they were alone like this.
Soft kisses soon turn urgent as weeks of pent up needs and frustrations come to surface. Her husband lifts her into his arms as he clumsily moves towards their bed. They both fall upon it in a small fit of laughter before they once again connect their lips.
hands are moving quickly and hearts are racing and it isn’t long before Eunji shifts their position so she’s straddling his waist. His shirt is already off and she flashes him a teasing grin before reaching down to remove her own.
She didn’t wear a bra that day.

@ccgyu
It’s a Saturday night, nearing close to 11pm, and Eunji is sitting in the living room with a book in hand, glasses set on the bridge of her nose. Her son is fast sleep, tucked into bed with a stuffed animal in his arms.
She’s up because her husband has yet to come home, and she just doesn’t feel right not being there for him when he comes through the door. Her fingers gingerly flick the page in her book as she sighs, eyes glancing towards the door. It’s often he comes home late, and she know’s deep down that he’d be home early if he could.
She can’t help but worry though. Ever since the accident, she’s always worried about him walking out that door, afraid he’ll come back missing another limb - or worse. Not come back at all. It was truly terrifying, getting the call that her husband was rushed to the ER due to a car accident. Missing limbs. Broken and bruised. Seeing him in that hospital bed broke her heart into peaces. She was afraid she was going to lose her love.
Eunji sets her book down as she slowly stands and makes her way to the kitchen, figuring she’ll make some tea. She grabs the kettle and sets it on the stove, before pouring water through the top. She’ll make enough for Sunggyu too, knowing he’ll like something warm before bed.

ccgyu:
“He can if Hyejung doesn’t mind,” says Sunggyu. “Will you ask her if it’s okay?” The toddler nods, turns to his guests, and asks them if it’s okay. Fuzzy is a really good friend of his – he’s big enough to hold in your arms, is round and softer than a cotton ball, and eats the vegetables you don’t want. Fuzzy is as normal as any child’s imaginary friend can get.
Except, he’s real.
Sunggyu doesn’t like keeping secrets from his wife. But, he knows he’d have a harder time explaining that their child’s imaginary friend – which he’s spent weeks insisting they humor to ensure their son healthy, childhood development – is a living entity. He pretends he doesn’t see the white, puffball-like monster brush by his wife’s legs, clumsily bump into Jinil’s shins, and finally sit atop Joon’s feet. He pretends that he sees what his wife sees: nothing.
He smiles at his wife and reaches for her hand, like a prince charming helping his princess off the royal carriage. “Honey, why don’t you sit down?” he says. “I can handle the little rascals over there when they need their juice refilled.”
Her hand was resting on her hip as she watched the exchange between her husband and their friends, brow raised as her husband gushed about how she was an amazing cook and how her meals were ‘enhancing’ the seemingly gross vegetables. Sunggyu always did have a weird way of putting things; but that’s one of the things she loved about him.
At her son’s question, her brow frowned slightly. His imaginary friend Fuzzy was a topic her husband had to sit her down and explain. ‘It’s healthy for him’ he had argued, and Eunji could see why that would be the case. But seeing Sunggyu play along, seeing everyone play along, as if they could see the thing, made her feel a bit put off. She shook it off though, because they had company and she didn’t want to be rude.
Instead, she took her husbands offered hand and flashed him a small smile; his sweet voice calling her ‘honey’ was usually all it took for her to release whatever frustrations she had.
“If you say so,” she hummed, leaning in to plant a small kiss upon her love’s cheek, before shifting back and grabbing her glass. She had been on her feet most of the day so finally sitting down felt like a huge weight being lifted off of her lower back. She had been getting these weird pains lately, upset stomach, sore feet, some headaches. But she chalked it off to overworking herself with teaching and taking care of the house.
After a sip of her drink, Eunji set her gaze on Jinil.
“So how have the two of you been?” she asked her friend and his little one. It was nice having a fellow parent around, other than her husband. Someone the two of them could vent to and compare parenting methods on.

ccaelius:
...
Little Joonie looked up at him, eyes wide and cheeks a soft pink, as he reached out for the teacher’s hand. Aelius’s lips pulled into another smiled picked up the giggling toddler before walking towards the bookshelf.
“Shall we read another story today, Joonie?”
Eunji was rarely ever late.
Especially when it came to picking up her son.
She really should have been handed a traffic ticket for how many laws she must’ve been breaking as she sped down the road, hands clutching the steering wheel tightly as the worst came to mind. What if Joon thought she had forgotten him? He does take after his father with his insecurities, those two were so alike it was still amazing how Joon wasn’t their ‘birth’ son, he even had Sunggyu’s little squishy cheeks…Shaking her head, she decided not to think too much about what could have been going wrong. He was in the classroom no doubt.
As a teacher herself, Eunji knows that he’s probably being well looked after and hopefully being distracted with how late his mother really was. Thirty minutes so far due to a traffic build up on the highway. But Aelius was a good man, and a great teacher.
The school was in view as she hurriedly parked her car and stumbled out of the drivers side door, barely remembering to press the lock bottom before making her way towards the entrance. Her steps were quick as she brushed back her messy hair into a quick pony tail and tried readjusted her glasses; she looked like she was put through a car wash; without a car. A mess, in short. The weather was less than favorable also which made her wonder if it was connected to the traffic mess.
Entering the classroom, she breathed a sigh of relief as she saw her little boy in the lap of his teacher, reading a book and looking very oblivious to the time. She smiled and took a minute to catch her breath before walking further into the room.
“Thank you so much for keeping him occupied.” She muttered to Aelius as she reached out for the little boy who had just noticed her. She planted a kiss on his cheek before looking down at her fellow teacher.
“Really, you’re the best.”
