the way Bruce is his best friend because they play together, all of those cases they solve might as well be sudoku's in the morning, the blood tests n antidotes and learning how to disinfect a wound might as well be science experiments, sparring and exercise, Dick saw it all as playing not as work. And that's why he is a workaholic in his adulthood the line between work or play and downtime is so blurry for him. That's why his arc during v2 is so heartbreaking we're seeing the destruction of all his loved ones and of the way he plays too 😔✋🏼

Bruce Wayne knows your son’s school life better than you do. pretty sure he’s got his report card hanging up on the fridge and everything.

do fic readers know that their comments actually influence the course of the story sometimes? i don't mean in a "you need to write it this way because i say so 😡" type of comment, i mean when people are asking questions or really engaging with the plot and the themes in the comments they sometimes bring up things that i didn't even think of, or dig into parts of the story that i've overlooked, or get really interested/fixated on something i was going to just kind of glance over--and it has me going 'oh wait that's actually really interesting, that's a good point' and fully adding or tweaking or changing things about the story going forward. i'm literally adding an entire additional chapter to something right now because someone's comment had me like "oh i didn't dig into that as much as i could have." you have impact!

but what if i read one of your fanfics and then went to your ao3 accounts and read all of your fanfics and left a comment on every single chapter of every single one and you got spam emails from all of my kudos and comments and it made you smile, what then? what if i brighten your day with my words like you did mine, what then???

the batfam clocked that something might up regarding Jason’s death because when Damian came to Gotham he spoke like a victorian school boy 98% of the time UNLESS he was in a passionate debate/argument with somebody, at which point he would for some baffling reason unknowingly slip into a thick Crime Alley accent complete with slang terms and insults/sayings that the family have only ever heard spewed from Jason’s mouth. it blindsides them every fucking time and Damian doesn’t even realise he does it, just subconsciously picking up traits from his big brother back at nanda parbat without noticing.

I fell down a YouTube rabbit hole and watched some videos about people who pretended to be Anastasia and it got me thinking.... Idk if this has been written before, but!

Batfam AU where Jason legally comes back from the dead but literally the whole world thinks he is a con artist pretending to be Bruce Wayne's dead son for money. Lots of reporters have tried to disprove his claim but no evidence will convince Bruce and the media thinks Bruce is too deep in his mourning/ too stupid to realize the truth. I mean come on, his eyes are green, a completely different color from the real Jason!

Jason is having the time of his life. This is the greatest prank of all time. He absolutely leans into it because it is a good cover but also because it is hilarious.

When I was growing up and complained something sucked and was difficult (school, paperwork, etiquette rules, etc.) a lot of the time adults told me “noooo no it’s not difficult! It’s easy if you put your mind to it.” Or maybe a kinder “nooooo don’t say that, you can do it!”

And setting aside the fact that I had executive function issues I wasn’t aware of at the time, I think what I usually needed to hear was “yeah. yeah it does suck and it is difficult. but it’s important that you do it anyway.”

Like yeah in the moment it WAS difficult to learn my multiplication tables or to get college scholarships or to apply for jobs. It DID suck a lot but I did learn to do math, and go to college, and get a job. And I just wish somebody had told me that’s how it would feel to look back — not like “that was actually easy and fun once I tried it,” but to say “wow, that sucked. but I did it and I’m glad I did.”

Chapter 76

Excerpt:

It took Bruce at least 45 minutes, but finally, Jason heard him walking down the hall and stopped outside the room to knock on the doorway. 

Mara stiffened, and pushed herself up onto her hands, as if she was trying to look over the couch back, while Jason grabbed the remote to pause the movie.

“Come on in,” Jason said, without turning to look at him. He turned to Mara and said softly, “You can stay lying down, you need the rest.” 

“Yes,” Bruce said as he rounded the couch, “Don’t get up for me. I brought some crackers and tea from Alfred. He said you didn’t eat much, so this might help some. It’s good to keep something in your stomach.” 

Mara laid back down, so her head was rested on Jason’s leg, as she’d been lying for most of the movie, but she didn’t say anything to Bruce. Just stared at him. 

“Uh,” Bruce stammered, as he set a tray down on the coffee table in front of the couch, “Alfred also took the other two outside to play with Ace. Damian wanted to take him for a walk, but Ace doesn’t really do walks. He runs around the estate.” 

“Damian has been excited for that,” Jason said, resting an arm on Mara. She was so stiff, but thankfully wasn’t trying to sit up anymore.

“I can tell he loves animals,” Bruce said, as he stood awkwardly on the other side of the coffee table.

I’m reading Brandon Sanderson’s the frugal wizards handbook for surviving medieval England and honestly I love this author so much. There’s quite a lot in this book that someone might argue can’t possibly work, because the MC is in midieval England as a random dude from Seattle, and he can talk to everyone without issue at all. So one of the handbook FAQs says something like “isn’t it impossible for the Anglo saxons to be speaking modern English before Norman influence since that’s how modern english developed” and the answer is “apparently not!”

I need to be better about having my stories have their own rules and my answer to “that’s impossible” be “nope! Because that’s how it works in this story!”

What they don't tell you about writing is that as you write, you discover scenes and entire plots that you hadn't accounted for that need to be written. So you can spend two hours writing and editing only to realise you're further away from the finish line than you thought you were when you started
