Perfect! The stranger seemed to notice him! If she didn't he didn't know what he’d do. There was bound to be plenty of other people he could ask for help eventually, but that would probably involve looking for them and managing to to walk without falling over. It just wouldn't have been a good idea. Besides, he’d risk actually getting lost if he moved too far from where he stood.
"I was hoping to ask you something!" Tormod called to girl. Hopefully she wouldn't think his yelling was rude. "Do you know where I am?"
He paused for a moment, not knowing how he should continue. There were so many things he was confused about. Should he tell the stranger about his predicament—should he tell her that he had died? No, maybe he'd keep it to himself for now, he didn't know enough about where he was or why he was here.
"I woke up outside, and I don't why why I'm here. I don't remember falling asleep outside either." He scratched the back of his head and smiled sheepishly. "You don't happen to know what's going on, do you?"

Tormod leaned back, somewhat dismayed by his roommates answer. Sure the question was straightforward, but it deserved a better explanation than that. He shrugged it off though; he supposed that was just how Riki was. There were plenty of the to-the-point serious soldiers in the army, talking to Riki shouldn’t be too hard if he was the same way too.
The room was silent for a moment before the mage jolted upright. “Hey, let’s be friends! Since we’re going to be living together, it makes sense that we should be friends, right?
Why don’t you tell me about yourself? I don’t really know much about you besides your name. If you want I can tell you about myself too.”

"What do you mean by 'what are we supposed to do?'"
Riki just asked the question Tormod had been avoiding all day. What was he supposed to do now that he was here? It was pretty clear that Koi wasn't some kind of designated afterlife. Did that mean that he'd have to start all over? To be honest, he didn't know if he liked that idea or not. He was a mercenary; he didn't have many skills besides the ones he learned on the battlefield, and the basics he needed to survive. Making a new life for himself... that's what he had to do, right?
"We'll just live one day at a time until we figure something out. We should find work for ourselves sometime soon, I suppose." He scratched his chin, wondering if the library nearby was hiring. The city was generous enough to give them a place to live, but everything always came back to money in the end. It was probably no different here. "Do you have anything in mind that you want to do?"

"Riki, huh? My name's Tormod."
Tormod for the most part ignored the strangers stare, choosing to walk inside rather than waste energy getting nervous. Judging by the fact that Riki didn't tense up when he saw him and seemed relaxed in the room, he most likely wasn't a threat. He closed the door behind him, glad that the other male opened the window. Smoke was something Tormod was used to tolerating, but even he could be bothered by a room full of it.
He gave the space a quick one-over doing his best to figure out the functions of each section of the flat. From what he could tell, there were two bedrooms. The furniture seemed odd to the boy, but took a seat in the nearest chair anyway. "Some people downstairs told me I was supposed to be living here. I'm guessing you live here too, so that would make us roommates.
"Since we're going to be living together, I should introduce myself properly. I'm Tormod, a mage from the Greil Mercenaries. I'm new to this city."

Revolving Doors || Ayano and Tormod
The orange haired boy stared at the building in front of him clutching his funds tightly in his hand. This was a store that sold clothes, right? It seemed large and intimidating to him. Everything from the large glass windows to the huge racks of clothing inside seemed too extravagant to him. Maybe he was in the wrong place. Maybe this was a store only for the extremely wealthy. The average people he saw walking inside the building told him otherwise, though.
Tormod contemplated turning away to look for another store, but decided against it. He was already here, and he needed new clothes. He'd been lucky enough to somehow get himself a job as a library assistant, and the people he worked with had been kind enough to help him settle in. They had been understanding about his situation so far, but showing up everyday in the same clothes was just impractical. Besides, he would rather not be known as the boy with strange clothes.
He took a step forward, ready to go inside, but halted once he reached the "door". It wasn't even a door; it was more like multiple spinning panels.  "What kind of door is this?" he cried in frustration. He had a general idea of how to get inside, but this was ridiculous...

Another Chance || open
It was like waking up from a long dream.  Tormod wouldn't have believed this was possible, but what he was experiencing was definitely real. The sound of the wind, the warmth of the sun on his face, and the feeling of the grass and dirk pressing against his exposed skin were proof that what he was experiencing was, in fact, reality. His dreams were never this vivid.
Moving was difficult; his limbs felt like lead, but he managed to push himself up into a sitting position. There was a dull pain in his middle—it was fleeting, more like the memory of an injury than actual pain.
Tormod opened his eyes slowly, afraid of what he'd see. His last memory wasn't pleasant: enemy soldiers managed to surround him, somehow breaking through the front lines that consisted of the cavalry. There was little anyone could do to save him once help had arrived. The healing magic only eased the pain; it wasn't enough to save him. The sight that greeted him was a clear sky, white marble fountain, and a beautiful garden that could have only been crafted by a master.
He blinked. The scene before him was too serene—nothing like the war-torn battlefield burned into his mind as his last memory. Was this what the afterlife was like? A person a few meters ahead of him caught his attention. Perhaps they would have some answers for him.
With renewed vigor, he stood and raised his hands to the sides of his mouth. "Ah, excuse me!" He took a step forward, but continued no farther. His limbs were still somewhat unresponsive, good enough to stand but not steady enough to run. "Could I ask you some questions?"

Tormod couldn't say he appreciated the stranger's previous attempts at humor, if one could call it that. It didn't sit well with him; it was too similar to how the humans mocked his Laguz family for their tails or clothes. The other boy's embarrassment only mitigated his unhappiness slightly.
"My robes are fine to wear in any weather; it's why I wear them. Rain, snow, heat, or hail I'll be fine in any climate." If there was one thing inconvenient about being displaced, it was the language barrier. He knew most of what everyone was saying, but there were always a few words he had never heard before. What was a "chill pill" supposed to be?
"I'm not dumb; I can see that I don't belong here. Don't you think I have a reason for wearing this?" He gestured to his clothes. In truth, underneath the cloak, his clothes weren't terribly different from what most people wore in the city. He could always make adjustments later if he absolutely needed to. "Not everyone has money to afford clothes."
Tumblr media
“Wait, so it’s not a costume?” Danny looked surprised and then he looked completely embarrassed at his jokes, maybe he should be more careful next time. “Geez, Sorry dude. Look, I don’t know where Grann Desert is but anyone here in this city might share the same impression like me, Y’know?” As far as the halfa’s concerned, the desert is in a hot or warm place. It must be a culture thing to wear like that. He quickly changed the subject.
Tumblr media
“Hey, at least take a chill pill. I’m not here to insult anyone with their attire during my stay here. Koi isn’t even a warm place to stay for long either. But as a friendly suggestion, may I suggest blending in with the citizens for the time being?” For a guy wearing strange clothing, he’s really touchy about the subject.

Though it was still far from night, it already felt like a long day to the mage. Since waking up in what he could only assume was a different world entirely from his own, he had only experienced confusion and fatigue. He was mostly over his disorientation now, but feeling sick and lost made it hard to navigate the streets of the strange city. Tormod was glad that the people here were so friendly despite how odd he must have seemed to them. To be honest though, their clothing baffled him more than the other way around.
Tormod continued climbing up the stairs. A passerby was nice enough to inform him that he was going to be housed in a placed called "Chai Condos" and even helped him with the directions. The stairs, though, they seemed to never end. Why would someone build a tower this high? Someone mentioned an "elevator" but he had no idea what that could be.
Hair clung to his face despite his headband and his legs burned, but he eventually reached his floor. Large numbers hung above the doors made his assigned living space easy to find, but an odd scent invaded his senses as he opened the door. Smoke, it was something he was familiar with, but this was smoke from tobacco. Someone was already inside. He knew no one that smoked, but just maybe...
A surge of excitement suddenly filled the fiery-haired youth. Tormod pushed the door all the way open to find... a complete stranger. His face fell. He was expecting—no he was hoping—to find his companions inside, but considering the circumstances... that was too unlikely, and probably for the best.
"Who are you?"
Smoke and Fire
What a long day it had been. To be kicked out of one place and then shoved to a completely foreign location all for the sake of one person. It had been a lot of unnecessary trouble, but Riki knew if he had stayed then there would be even more trouble, and not just for him.
Riki dropped what had to have been his 12th cigarette in two hours to the clean side walk and stepped on it, eyeing the tall complex before him. This place.. it was literally sparkling. It was one of those fancy buildings that acted like high class apartments. Riki knew how those were, and he disliked it already. Filled to the brim with the rich and powerful that scoffed at the mere sight of those who were lower class. At least, that was what he had been expecting before he unlocked the door to his room and stared at the game themed decor.
This was not one of those super posh condos apparently.
And that was okay, but what the fuck was all of this?
Riki lowered the bag that had been hanging over one shoulder and glanced around the entry way, stepping over a few game pieces that had been set out as he examined the condo. Fully furnished, complete with utilities.. Riki walked down the nearest hall and into the largest room he found, grimacing a little at the bright colors. It seemed to have some sort of game theme going on, but as he was accustomed to board games he wasn’t sure.
Setting the bag down on the bed, Riki took a seat and leaned over, lighting up another cigarette and putting it to his lips. This was going to take some getting used to.

"This isn't a costume!" Any homesickness was wiped away in an instant, and replaced with irritation. Odd looks ere expected, but this boy was the first to strike a nerve. The unwanted physical contact didn't help much either. "If you dress the wrong way in the Grann Desert, you die. It's as simple as that." It wasn't that simple. He'd been in Koi long enough to know that magic was a foreign concept here. Mentioning that his clothes were typical for a mage, would only bring him ridicule he wanted to avoid.
"If your only reason for talking to me was to insult my clothing, then I think you've said enough already."
Tumblr media
“And leave it to someone that has an emotional backstory.” He spoke with saracasm. Admittedly, he hasn’t wore his own DP gear for quite a while now.  Every where he goes, most of these weird people in costumes are in hot trends today. Is it suppose to be a good thing?
“I can’t blame you dude.” Danny gave the other guy a pat on his back. “I’m home away from home either. From where I’m from, I’m Amity Park’s protector.  But I don’t walk around in my other costume most of the time.”

Tormod closed his eyes and sighed, doing his best to subdue his urge to become angry; he knew the other boy was talking about his robes. It was painfully obvious how much he stood out, but he had no other belongings and no money to buy any new clothes.
"...Someone very important to me gave me these clothes," he eventually said. He could feel the muscles in his stomach tightening; he was upset. "They're the only things have to remind me of home."

Mun Into
Tumblr media
Hello! I'm the mun for Tormod, but you might know me better as Emizel's mun. Umm, I should mention that the icon I put at the top of this post is literally the only icon I have for Tormod, so sorry in advance if you don't like roleplaying with people without icons. Maybe I should have thought this through before bringing him into this group, haha... Uhh, if it becomes a problem I could draw all the icons myself since pictures of this kid are kinda rare.

Tormod waved his hand. "It's fine, nothing to worry about. I'm one of the younger members in our army, and one of the best mages around."
He looked around glancing at the hustle and bustle of the small town around him. "So are you just slacking off while everyone resupplies? The others normally don't need my help while they're fillin' up the caravan, so I'm free to just explore."
Forde yelped in surprise when the small boy approached him and began fixing a flower into his hair. He’d never seen the child before (well, he assumed he was a child from the height), and the gesture was odd. Surely… surely Forde didn’t look like a woman to him? He might have a ponytail, but surely his manly features were not failing him…!
"… I, ah, appreciate the gesture, but I rather fear I’d be the laughing stock of the army if they saw me like this," Forde told the boy once he’d calmed down.

Tormod stayed silent as Ike removed his armor. Protesting wouldn't stop Ike, that was something he was sure of.  But still... the chances of his armor still being there if they returned for them was slim.
"Hey Ike,I can mostly ignore my leg. Do you think I can walk if you just support me?" He felt pretty pathetic, not used to being so dependent and weak. Even though he was tired, he wanted to at least carry his own weight. "Either way, let's get going."
Wounded || Tormod and Ike
"And if nothing else… we should run into villagers getting water from teh stream.." Ike looked to Tormod, wondering if he was really okay. He started forward and with his soaked clothes holding him back more he groaned. "She is going to hate me for this…" He rested Tormod down on a nearby rock and stripped his armor down to his sword.
"If it’s going to way me down I can’t wear it… Ragnell will just have to do for my protection.." He lifted up Tormod again, heading forward to follow the stream.

"Yeah, I figured as much. It'd be pretty surprising if we actually got help, but we've been fine on our own up until now. One we find some lumber, I'll get some of the others to help take it back. I'd rather not spend extra money hiring someone to cart it back for us."
Tormod kicked a loose pebble away from his foot. "As long as we can pay the carpenter it shouldn't be too hard..." Finding a carpenter that would accept the job wasn't something the mage was worried about. As long as they had the funds, they were sure to find someone eventually. The problem was finding someone that wouldn't try to take advantage of them. "Should I do most of the talking or do you want to?"
Helping Out || Tormod and Ranulf
Ranulf sighed with smile, content to see Tormod’s enthusiasm. “You realize that we might be doing this all on our own, correct? Not many beorc in Begnion are ready to volunteer to build a laguz shelter that’d be in their neighborhood.” Ranulf kicked himself from his position against the wall of the old building. “Still…if we don’t do it then no one will. So…I suppose we need to get started. Let’s head into town and find some lumber and with any luck a carpenter who can aid us….”
