Bro I am so sorry. I hate nerd spaces not being welcoming to non-men. I got lucky and the one I started frequenting near my university has this really nice lady who works the counter usually, and she knows me by name and is really sweet.
i have bought every comic with booster gold on the cover at my lcs, i think. the one employee i ever see still doesn’t recognize me. i’ve been going there since i was 7. i have never seen more than three customers in there at once in my almost ten years of going, except free comic book day. the owner has glared at me ever since i said his recommendations were bad when i was 9.

How does the story of Tim meeting Dick really young in the circus works if some comics have him (Dick) being 8 years old when the tragedy happens? That doesn't make sense right? Or maybe it does and i'm just confised but i do think it's the better for the proguess and even relationship with Bruce that Dick is eight when his parents die. Just scratches my brain that the picture of Tim with the Graysons is so cute and memorable...i wouldn't wan't to get rid of the meeting
You're right, it doesn't make sense age-wise. I'm a firm believer in Dick going to Bruce when he was 8, and because Dick came before Tim, I give priority to the details of his backstory instead of Tim's. So logically does it make sense for Tim to have seen 8-year-old Dick perform? No. But I just magically wave my hand, ignore the ages, and say Tim saw The Flying Graysons perform, and that's that.

I must say, Steven Universe is a lot more enjoyable when you don't need to read through a heaping helping of Tumblr discourse about who's secretly abusing whom this week.

Hot take, but if it was any other character who had a telepath reach into their head without permission and completely rewire their brain, changing a core aspect of their identity and perception of the world…there’d probably be a hundred fix-it fics and people would be upset.
But because Cassandra Cain couldn’t speak, the telepath was just “fixing her.” After all, that’s what everyone says in-universe, and how people treat it out-of-universe. So instead the fandom just gets mad at people who want to write her as nonspeaking because we’re trying to “silence her” and “erase her hard work.” And honestly, I am really upset about that.
We as a fandom are capable of being critical of how DC “cured” Barbara, of collectively ignoring her spinal implant and having her be a superhero with her disability. But somehow when it’s Cass and it’s a speech disorder that’s analogous to traits of some developmental disabilities, it’s different.
I know that Cass put effort into learning to speak, and that that was a rebellion against her father’s time raising her. But this was only possible in the first place because she was “cured” against her will. And frankly, to me, it feels like a poisoned well.
I’m sure Barbara spent time in PT (albeit off panel) getting used to her neural implant (which actually is something I’d be interested in reading about, if done well), and I’m sure she worked hard too. I’m sure she was also taking back power over her life. But Barbara chose the neural implant. Cass didn’t choose a telepath rewiring her brain.
Cass’s mind was warped and violated, and she was changed and “cured” against her will. Yes, she appreciated being able to communicate, and people around her stopped acting like she was stupid (oh wait, they didn’t—even Barbara called Cass “stupid”), but she was also upset and shocked. She did not choose to have her brain rewired. This should be a horror story. So why is Barbara in a wheelchair disability representation but Cass not communicating through speech just horrible erasure?
