Sanzo’s already figured out that the combining of magic and science wasn’t taboo in many of the worlds other people came from, but it was still odd to hear someone talk about it so casually. The books sure weren’t giving him any ideas though. Might as well try to pick someone else’s brains. So with no forewarning, he drops himself into a nearby chair.

“What would lead to a worldwide ban on the combination of magic and science?” Sanzo asks bluntly. 

If the other doesn’t want to answer the question, they won’t. And that will be the end of it and Sanzo will go back to wasting his time.

When the man suddenly decided to plop down right at the same table as her and asked a question completely unprompted, Cassy raised an eyebrow. Though she wasn’t one to talk, the least you could do is say hi or introduce yourself first! But the question the other blond asked, it intrigued her. What would cause a worldwide ban? There was a lot of different things and depending on which one could go through outright heretical levels based on who you asked. Different countries had different values after all. 

“That’s a pretty bold question right there blondie. Through from my own travels I would have to say anything that involves higher beings. I think they call it ‘pulling a tower of babel’ here? The Gods hate when humans try to come up to their level, yet seem to let things like the transmutation of homunculi go. It’s pretty screwed up either way. If I would have to say from experience...it would be reanimation. To use both to try to bring someone back to life is a big no no, no matter where you go. And Transference of abilities like magic considered ‘forbidden’ like Sealing magic since the only ones allowed to use it are those connected with the original families. To try ripping out the magic would result in death since its connected with the very soul instead of through your entire body. It’s like...ripping out someone’s heart rather than ripping a limb off.” To be really graphic about it.

[New Years is over, and I’m about to be on a bit of a better schedule since I’m starting work again- woo hoo! So like this for a starter with Cassy! I want her to get some more interactions (because she needs to not be cooped up in her workshop) but also bc I want to get her to Rank up!

It was so cold! Baby couldn’t believe Hyur-Ah’s lazy butt didn’t buy them a coat! He had to wake up extra early to find a store and grab one. He looked at his phone for the time and ran as fast as he could towards the meeting place. He finally saw Cassy and smiled at her as he waved his hands.

“Yeah! Sorry, my little brother forgot to buy a jacket so I had to grab one.” He said and panted a bit. He pulled his jacket close to himself as the wind picked up slightly. “I’m really excited to see these events! These sort of things weren’t really allowed back home.” At least, weren’t allowed for him being the heir and all. And, it especially wasn’t allowed once he became the leader.

“Yeah trust me, I can relate! If I knew it was going to be this freezing outside I would have brought a jacket or something. This thing can only retain so much heat!” She responded in a joking manner while flipping her collar over. At least her hands were nice and warm...

These kind of events? Was he from a strict background or something? Must suck not being able to do whatever you want, whenever you want.

“If that’s the case we’re going to have to try a little bit of everything then! The best part of these sorts of festivals is that there’s all sorts of things to do! By the time I’m done with you, you’ll be a bonafide festival expert! Count of it!”

‘Alchemy is like cooking’ or so some mad scientist said. While the whole measurement thing could be one of the main factors there was a number one thing that separated it- edibility. Thankfully with the pleasant and mouthwatering smell of baked pastries that attracted her over to this place more than anything. Still she wasn’t expecting it to be so crowded, even to the point of being pushed and shoved left and right til Cassy was right in front of a short boy’s table.

“OH, hah ha- yeah I’d love some!” Man she could already tell that her energy was going to be gone by the time she left.

📚  Dortin might have underestimated a little how busy baking can be. Many come here to try baking their own cookies, but just as many come to taste the baked goods of others. But, Dortin enjoys himself a lot here. It is a good feeling to create something that makes others smile. For him, it’s not about the bake off contest at all.

“Hello, would you like some cinnamon cookies? They’re fresh out of the oven.”

Cassy deciding to go to the Great Library to look up more of the technological advances of this city spent the majority of her time there when realizing just HOW MUCH there was. Well it should have been obvious since its called the ‘Great’ library and not the ‘Fairly Mediocre’ library. With the desk she was sitting at half covered in books, she frowned when reading up on some of the more ‘theological’ books. 

“Why would they try combining movement magic with a hydraulic system? All that’s going to do is overload the actual machinery and possibly cause a failure. And this right here, you can use an alchemic formula instead of causing a negative reaction with this potion. It’ll into a potent gas-like poison and send whoever breathes it into a frenzy...I would know from personal experience.” She muttered to herself with an annoyed tone.

The city had changed during his, apparent, absence. It was annoying how things changed just at someone’s whim, but Sanzo wasn’t as irritated as he could be. This ward was at least better than most of the others. It was much easier to find somewhere private. And he much preferred this library to the ones in Gold Ward, which were attached to the University, and thus always filled with students.

And it had a whole section devoted to the combination of magic and science. Now if he could find a book written by someone who wasn’t an idiot too egotistic to be aware of their own biases and contradictions.

“…you mean there are other sources of fuel that smell far worse?” While he was curious as to what these were, he could do without experiencing them for himself.

“I have not been to Fibonacci, but my residence is in Archimedes, so I can take us around there when we get to it.” Though he would have to depend on her for the former ward since he didn’t know his way around it. 

“Of course! Any type of innovation has to involve experimenting with anything and everything that can possibly help with your own research, within reason of course. Even if it stinks!” NO need to do something heinous like some of the magicians in the capital city does.

“Well judging from the map, Fibonacci isn’t that far off from where you live so we don’t have to spend too much time trying to get there over what our original purpose for being over there is. I live in Golden though, so I’m going to have to either leave early or hitch a ride to meet up with you.“ Waking up early though is probably going to be the major problem over actually getting there.

“PHEW! Its COLD!” Cassy said while shivering, her coveralls pulled fully up and over herself. Due to her old city being really warm most of the time because of all the engineering and different machines it was safe to say that being around the snow wasn’t something she was used to. Stamping her foot a little she waited outside the shop that they were supposed to be meeting at before going to Golden Ward for some of the winter activities going on.

“Heh heh, I can’t wait- especially with those other vehicles they have lying around...I wonder if there as fast as my own AFSMTD.” She said to herself with a smile before perking up when hearing the snow crunch of someone approaching.

“Oh hey, you made it Baby!”

“Does it not also have a foul odor?” The exhaust that came from the vehicles here which ran on gasoline was repulsive, and he could only imagine what such a thing was doing to the quality of air, and nature itself. There were far better, cleaner sources of energy that could be used, instead.

“Oh? Perhaps we should try locating these stones. If that fails, then we will have to purchase these weapons you speak of.” Either way, it sounded like an interesting, and slightly promising experiment that he wanted in on. “Should we try to see this as far as we can, then?~”

“Yeah it does, but honestly it doesn’t smell half as bad as some of the other fuels we’ve tried out back in Machina.” She’ll never forget the smell of the Darkian fruit they attempted to use. The whole city smelled of it and no work could be done for an entire week while everyone furiously cleaned their workshops and homes without rest.

“Now you’re speakin’ my language!” Cassy couldn’t help but to get excited at the other blond’s words and stood up with a grin. “Since I hang out there quite a bit, the first place we should probably look is around the Fibonnachi area and make our way to Archimedes last. Those seem like the best places to look for them!”

Jade’s interested in what the stranger is doing, in part because he’s a curious little eel. He’s bored, and he’s willing to cause chaos if it will entertain him, but he’s not so bored as to cause harm or real trouble to someone else. So he just smiles more and leans in to look at the music box.

“Pretty thing,” he comments. It is, and it must be worth something to be repaired like that; it’s looking like it’s taking some effort on her part. He stands up straighter and looks at her with a soft, almost friendly smile. “Are you good at fixing things, then?”

“Yeah even I’ve got to admit that it is. I’m not usually interested in dainty, royalty-style artisan stuff like this but the story of it was so interesting that I couldn’t help but to accept the job.” She replied casually while taking out smaller tools more suited for this kind of repair.

“Not to boast too hard, but I can fix almost anything as long as I’ve taken it apart a few times. Though if its magic based all I can do is fix the base itself since I can only use fire spells at the moment.” This was pretty obvious information, it wasn’t something she needed to hide.

Baby had spent most of time flying about and learning to control his broom. And, for once, Hyur-Ah was nice enough to give him tips to keeping himself balanced.

“If only we can keep this broom! It makes everything so much easier!” He said to Hyur-Ah. All he got was a sound of agreement. He decided to let him rest and continue to fly about. He stopped the broom when he heard someone call out to him and flew down.

“Oh, Cassy! Yes, I am!” He beamed happily at her, until he realized what she was wearing and nearly fell off his broom.

“Ca-Ca-Cassy, what happened to your clothes???”

It was good to see him again and that he was having fun too! It’d be a shame not to have a lot of merriment during this night after all! And he was dressed as a wizard? No, it was a witch outfit wasn’t it? Either way it was pretty cute on him! Though she was pretty shocked when he almost fell off his broom.

“Woah hey, don’t fall off! Falling onto the pavement ain’t really fun ya know!”

“Huh? What about my outfit? I’m dressed as one of those Oni, pretty cool right? The horns were a little weird to get used to, but the rest of the costume is pretty comfortable!” She responded in a matter of fact manner. It was bit strange with the ripped sleeve but who could complain?

Cassy couldn’t stop grinning, something she hasn’t done in a long while. But the look of happiness was offset by the fact that she was twirling around a spiked club and had a basket attached to her side. This Halloween stuff was pretty freaking fun and she was deep within the vibe of it all. Sure a few people who got too taken with their costumes after eating the candy tried to attack, but a few bashes here and there easily took care of that!

“This is probably a bit too fun, it almost makes me wish he had Halloween back on Graffitti. The candy and desserts they’re giving out is pretty freaking good too.” She said to herself before squinting at something, no- someone who was not too far away from here that she recognized.

“Oh hey, Baby! You’re hanging out during Halloween too?” Of course he was, but she had to still say it.

[Since the event has been extended one more day, like this for a event starter with Cassy! She’s dressed as an Oni and ate the Ascension Candy so she’ll be a bit (lot) more merry and bloodthirsty than usual! The cap will be at 3!]

Free Snacks? I’m in! [Halloween Mini Monster Mash]

“Cheers!” Cassy and a bunch of other people at the local bar shouted out as they clinked their glasses of beer, wine, and other alcohol together in merriment. A lot of the adults decided to gather together and have their own Trick or Treat party and admirably it did get a little wild at the first bar, which resulted in a lot of people getting their asses knocked flat. In the den of wizards, crocodiles, and sexy angels, Cassy was dressed in Oni costume that was recommended to her about a week back since her job was requiring it for the celebration. While she was a bit hesitant at first, it quickly jumped out the window with both the party and those candies they were handing out.

‘Man, who knew it felt so good to cut loose! Or maybe that was the bloodlust.

“Come on guys! This next drink’s on me! There’s a big Pumpkin Cake that the boss made, and barbecue! And don’t forget the candy too!” With that, everyone in the cacophony cheered happily. “Damn I might have to start a fight to work off all this excitement!”
