casual: i actually don't have much to say about this one but it makes me do a happy little wiggle. it's so interesting seeing what casual clothes people give him and this is my personal hc

fancy: if you saw my art of him doing a metal growl at karaoke you would know that i'm a fan of ghost. i thought he'd look pretty in one of papa iv's outfits. and i was right

hisui: the pierced ears do so much here and it's very funny to me. but anyways, it's still a habit he has to break, but he's able to fix his posture once emmet + caleb find him! he's not alone anymore, and he knows where he comes from now, so there's less weighing on him

milo likes it shoulder length best, but keeps procrastinating seeking out someone to cut it for a full year after getting to hisui, so it gets long. they sigh about how much of a hassle it is to comb one morning in jubilife, and ingo goes "[hopeful gay thoughtfulness] would you like me to comb it for you?" (this is before they get together) and milo goes "[also gay] oh! uh sure (〃´ω`〃)" which then leads to the bluebellowl commission i got a few months ago

WAHOO!! okay so timeline-wise this would be post-game of legends arceus after they get together

but anyways ohhh man milo's outfit was so fun to figure out. historical work clothes my beloved. i used this photo as reference, so they're in a light blue kimono with the sleeves tied up by a tasuki, a yellow obi, and pinstriped monpe! it's their usual outfit for tromping around mt coronet and working at the clothier's in jubilife. they wear hakama in the village sometimes too, but the wide drapey legs didn't suit the pose here so i went with monpe

oh and they patched ingo's uniform for him!! milo couldn't find exact matches for the modern industrial dyes, but his hat and coat are in one piece again. :] i actually considered having them do visible mending with green so he'd be reminiscent of overgrown railroad tracks, but it ended up looking a bit cluttered here, so alas

pokemon team

ettie ♀ - milo's first pokemon, met as a woobat the night milo got isekai-ed! trainerless but taken to a pokemon center for mild injuries, she managed to escape containment and stick herself to milo's cheek, and has been with them ever since. she's goofy and sweet. she's also a service pokemon, using calm mind to help milo with their anxiety.

julian ♀ - originally caught as a venipede in a subway tunnel by ingo helping the interpol survey the line milo dimension-hopped on. he gave her to them a few months later so they'd have a slightly stronger pokemon to look after them while training ettie. she's now milo's ace, and their main form of transportation in hisui.

peridot ○ - caught in a visit to celestial tower! a gaggle of elgyem started following milo, fascinated by their non-native psychic vibes. peridot was the boldest, and came with them after a friendly battle. it's incredibly curious about human objects + technology and will frequently pick things up to examine with them with the utmost care

dewdrop ♂ - fished up during milo's time in hoenn! he's a spunky creature, very personable, and the most enthusiastic battler on milo's team. has never quite gotten the hang of using healing moves.

outfits

isekai - their usual winter gear from earth, what they were wearing when they got isekai-ed. their giant thrifted ski jacket from the 90s is exceptionally warm. you can only see the straps, but they had their backpack on them as well! earthly belongings that came with them include several class notebooks, a tarot deck and journal, a box set of their favorite horror ttrpg, a deck of cards, their phone, headphones, and a phone charger. they were on their way back from visiting friends when they got eeby deebied to the pokemon world.

casual - an average outfit they end up with while in the process of settling in! they wear this and similar outfits in their everyday life, going to their galarian language lessons and to work in the quilt shop in nimbasa. the grey tank is band merch from a hard rock/metal band called Destiny Bond that elesa introduces them to. :]

events - when they're going out somewhere and want to Look Good, milo goes full 70s twink! nothing like some good fruity androgyny. they are incredibly glad historical fashion trends of the pokemon world mirror earth's.

hisui - the first few months in hisui they spend in the couple sets of plainclothes they brought with them from the future, but once they get to jubilife, milo does a LOT of trading to acquire various outfits from the clothier's! they favor women's hakama and geta sandals when in town. their original glasses from earth get lost early on in an incident with a flock of staravia, so they go a few months without until they're able to get new ones.

they/he

a casual trainer who works at a quilt shop in nimbasa

milo's a pretty lighthearted + easygoing guy, goofy on the regular, and he enjoys making people laugh. he tends to be on the quiet side. he can be awkward at times, but earnest

this can also be found on toyhouse with some extras if you so wish to look at it there, but this is a little more detailed

so!

as it says, milo's originally from (an) earth! they fell asleep on the metro on their way back home, and woke up Somewhere Else, on an Unfamiliar train. the earth they're from doesn't have pokemon, even as a franchise, so this Somewhere Else (the pokemon world) is completely unknown to them

ingo + emmet find them incredibly confused + speaking no known language with a phone map that doesn't match the world, rightly figure maybe dimensional shenanigans are about, and take them to the interpol. while a case is opened up for milo, the nimbasa trio adopts them as a sort of interdimensional exchange student, showing them around, and then helping them get their footing in the pokemon world when the interpol isn't able to find much.

milo has to grapple with the language barrier (learning galarian from scratch) and culture shock for a while, plus mounting guilt as they slowly realize they prefer the pokemon world to their earth, but have no way to let their loved ones know what happened and that they're okay (they eventually come to terms with it, but it takes a couple years)

in between language lessons, they hang out a lot with new friends (the nimbasa trio + a whole host of ocs i have not drawn yet), and pretty much everyone encourages them to give training a try. so they do! they do their own little gym run, and earn a few badges before tapping out and heading back to nimbasa, content with being a mid-strength trainer.

as they get further settled in, they pick quilting back up, and after showing a few projects to the local quilt shop, get hired there! they make friends with many old ladies + the shop sewaddle and gain a reputation amongst the regulars for having a good color sense.

there's a good stretch of just peaceful life for them, happily working, getting to know ingo + emmet + elesa + various ocs better as their language skills improve, and traveling around the region in their spare time. they even nearly start building a romance with ingo, but this gets interrupted when the interpol find another person from earth in hoenn, and milo ventures abroad to meet them + see the region! they extend the trip to see a little bit of johto, but that gets cut short when ingo goes missing.

it takes a year and a half, but milo + emmet manage to get to hisui with the help of a celebi, and are able to find ingo! but, arceus is miffed at their meddling and removes celebi from the premises, stranding the three of them in the past for a couple years. during this time, the events of legends arceus happen, with the three of them basically functioning as npcs. ingo does what he does in canon, emmet helps laventon with the pokedex + manages the training grounds with ingo, and milo apprentices at the clothier's in jubilife!

i'm still working out how the three of them factor into the canon storyline of pl:a and how big a role i want them to play, but they for sure join the wider party of people supporting akari. and, post-rift-fixing, milo does get together with ingo :]

that's everything i've written out so far (my document is so fucking big. this is as concise a post as i could make it), but i really like the idea of bringing in elesa with jirachi for the post-game of pl:a, and i do intend to get everyone back to the future.
