Surprise papercraft! The Caraval papercraft was put on hold while I waited for specialty paper to be delivered. In the meantime, I used this week to work on this Throne of Glass / Heir of Fire papercraft! One of four I have planned for the lead up to Kingdom of Ash release! :) I loved this scene so much! Even though we didn’t know at first read this was the moment Aelin and Rowan met - we find out later that Aelin made a hilarious first impression!

Kingdom of Ash is nearly here! To celebrate, here is part two of the four-piece ToG / HoF papercraft series.
I consider Aelin’s part in Heir of Fire my favorite arc in the ToG series. She reached her lowest point as an assassin, broken and lost, and came bursting out at the end as our queen! This scene in particular was a first turning point for her and I hope I could relay the emotions she was feeling (as well as Rowan’s) as she began to free and embrace her true self.

My weekend is gone, dedicated to satiating this question. But I feel no regrets other than any unwanted emotions this piece gives to you. I am so sorry. ❤️😖 Animation references: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNNAxCuaYoc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ni_mS4cKPXY …and a bunch of Michael Phelps videos

Aaaaah just finished Kingdom of Ash and had to draw SOMETHING to get rid of the immediate hangover. This was probably the most defining scene in the book for me. Aelin’s arc was pretty much expected, but Manon and Dorian’s arcs were the most surprising events of the book. Dorian especially – every chapter I yearned that he could some how find his self-worth after working tirelessly to sacrifice himself at every turn - and this is the scene when he does. I don’t usually sketch in color too often, but these two deserved it. So much.

Tired of Aelin yet? ;) This special Kingdom of Ash papercraft will be part of an upcoming giveaway on Instagram this week! Follow me on Instagram @rosiethorns88 to keep an eye out for the announcement! (link in tumblr description) This was a fun pose! Outfit is from the back cover of Kingdom of Ash, of course. I imagined if Aelin had turned around while brandishing the sword, she’d huff a breath of fire to remind the audience of her true namesake.

Paper. There was so much paper. In celebration of A Court of Frost and Starlight release, I made a papercraft of the starfall scene from ACOMAF! This was a defining moment; not because of the awareness or longing, but laughter. It finally broke the year-long tension between these two – and all it took was some splattered star spirit to the face!
