Okay I'm NOT trying to sound like a beauty industry shill, here. Obviously acne is fine, it's whatever, it doesn't matter. I have acne rn.

But do people not tell young people not to touch their faces anymore?? Like, that there are germs on your hands? That can lead to, or exacerbate, breakouts?

Bc there's 2 girls at my extern site, aged 19-22, and I've heard them both complain about their own acne, and I've also SEEN THEM running their fingers across the area of the breakout, repeatedly!!

Like, I'm not saying I NEVER touch my face, bc I definitely do!! I also do NOT change my pillowcases nearly as often as I should. But if I have a particular area on my face that's breaking out or otherwise inflamed, I do try my best to keep it clean and not mess with it!

Or at least, if I'm going to mess with it, I do it at home, in the bathroom, immediately after showering or washing my hands.

Idk, i know my mom was a freak in this regard, so maybe my baseline isn't calibrated correctly? (My mom has always been kind of insane about my appearance. She made me get those facials where they pop your pimples when I was, like, 11.) Maybe it's never been that common for teens to get told that?

Also in high school I went on hormonal acne medication (accutane), (also against my will) which made it so that every absent-minded scratch made a big, red mark, and would prompt my classmates to ask me what happened to my face 😬 so I did get pretty thoroughly trained not to touch my face...at one point my whole immediately family was pitching in to the effort, by telling me not to touch my face when they saw me doing so, or even just physically directing my hand away.

But yeah, I do feel the tiny version of my mom that lives inside my head trying to convince me to tell these girls to stop touching their faces. Obviously I'm not gonna do that, because it's both weird and rude, so 🤷🏻‍♀️ I just have to live like this, I guess.

Happy pride month to my dad. When I came out as bi to him, this man googled what it ment, look at me and said "ohh. Yeah. You get that from me. You'd have far more siblings of I only shaged women." And went right back to his work emails.

Just had an idea for the most inefficient, structurally unsound fence ever!

It's a bunch of long, thin (steel?) beams stuck in the ground at exactly a 45° angle, cut to a consistent height from the ground, like this:

////////////// (but more angled)

There could maybe be a connecting element underground? But absolutely NO visible horizontal or vertical components, that ruins the cool illusion effect!!!

idk I've always really liked when architecture/design play with the idea of what is open and what is closed off. Like, things that feel open, but there's no physical way for a person to move through.

I've actually seen fences like this irl with purely vertical elements, not angled, and one of them was like twelve feet tall; it was a pretty cool effect!! But i think trying to put the beams/slats at a sharp angle would be testing the limits of any material's durability. Not to mention the challenge that anchoring them would present.
