Analysis of The Arabian Nights
Literature 2 (TH 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM)
Old stories are commonly revolving around the protagonist’s, heroism, good deeds he had done, how he ruled his kingdom and how he became successful, and mostly all of this lead characters were men. But in the story of the Arabian Nights, Scheherazade, the wife of the sultan who ruled the kingdom of India Shahrayar dominated the whole story. Women are often seen or dominated a story. Arabian Nights revolved around the stories Scheherazade told to his husband everynight inorder to postpone or prevent the killings of his wife and wives to be, if possible because of the trauma of his late unfaithful wife brought him. The story proves that even women can dominate or lead a story and still can be able to be appealing and can be one of the great stories of all time that marked history and evolved other stories from it. Another one is that the stories Scheherazade told were the ones that up until now is very popular to all and also teaches lessons. The story of Ali Baba and the forty thieves taught a lesson that greed is not a good value in life. It had also the popular line the “open sesame”, everyone knew this line but not everyone knew the origin of it. The second story is about the Sultan’s jester, Back Back. From this story of Back Back, the lesson is, it is important to take responsibility in every action you make. The third story is about Aladdin and the lamp, the moral of the story is always tell the truth. Another story is about the Beggar from Cario that even Shahrayar got hooked by the story so much that the line that will mark is that “never tell the same joke twice”. And the last story is about the three princes who always fought each other and wants to marry the same girl, Princess Fatima. All of the stories Sceherazade told to Shahrayar helped him to win over his brother. The stories Scheherazade told to his husband were the ones that helped him to coped up and changed his heart and helped his imagination to work inorder to defeat his brother Shahzaman. From the words of Scheherazade, “stories can save us, if we use our imagination”. Through this stories Shahrayar became successful not just as a sultan but also he overcome his trauma and changed his heart because of his life. Another one is that Arabian Nights had taught the audience how to write or tell story that the readers or listeners will be hooked from it. To generalize, the stories are not only entertaining but powerful, capable of changing people and reflected through many stories Scheherazade tells. The tales from the story have been hugely influential throughout the centuries because it is widely known from all over the world up until now, reminding us that great stories are often judged as great for having stood the test of time and that is what Arabian Nights proved.

Escaping Boredom
Literature 2 (TH 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM)
Sometimes I just lay on my bed With my mind filled with nothing but air I make stars out of rubberbands Wishing I could watch butterflies pass
I stare at the clouds Make fun of their shapes Or gaze upon real stars Never aware that constellations exist.
Some nights when the moon doesn’t show I dream of a thousand dreams I see myself flying to my secret paradise I am guarded by little winged creatures They sing for me and I know I am happy Though it is just a dream…

Autobiography
Literature 2 (TH 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM)
I was born on the 18th of early morning of the year 1999 in the month of August. My father is Romeo Atienza David and my mother is Eva Bañaga David, my mother is the one currently working for the needs of our family. I have one older sister and one older brother. My older sister is Coleen B. David she’s 20 years old and taking up civil engineering while my older brother is Allen Roy B. David he’s 19 years old. I am very close to my older sister because we share the same thoughts, problems, and opinions she is also my bestfriend and on the contrary I’m not that close to my older brother. I’m seventeen years old. I graduate from Resurrection Catholic School in elementary and Sta. Lucia High School.
I do not remember much of my early childhood, but my mom said that I was a very active, curious, and communicative child. I would ask dozens of questions each minute, even without waiting for the answers. But on the downside of that, I had a very weak body, since birth I had my asthma, and that caused me a lot of problems in my elementary days.
When I was growing up, I always dreamed of becoming a doctor who help those people who are in need. I admired doctors because the’re not just helping people but they also are very intellectual professionals. And I thought that if I would be just like them I would also be as intellectual and be respected because of how selfless they are regarding their work. Moreover, my thirst for knowledge did not come to an end when I was at school to reach my first dream. I was passionate about science. I was also into reading different books that led me to became one of the writers of our school paper in my high school. It helped me a lot, it opened many doors of opportunities and learnings, I became more confident for who am I, I can express what I feel or what I want to say. I also became one of the student council when I was a high school student, it is the experience that I will never forget in my whole life because not everyone can experience it especially I experience many diverse things that I never thought even in my imagination that I will experienced things like that.
This passion helped me gain profound knowledge in different areas, and I was admitted to the college of my dreams. Today, I am a student at New Era University, and I feel very happy about it. I am a Psychology Major student, although its a bit different from what I first dreamed of but atleast it is still inclined with science. I am certain that my degree will become my ticket to a better tomorrow. Now, I want to become a psychologist because it inspires me on many things in life. I study hard and devote my free time to reading scholarly reviews and watching interviews with recognized specialists in the field. Of course, I understand that life is not just a bed of roses, and challenges and hardships are an integral element of life. Since my parents could not cover my college expenses in full, I applied for scholarships that can help me for my expenses in school. So I study hard to maintain my scholarships and meet the expectations of my parents to me. I am grateful to my parents because they support me in all the things I do. One phrase that I will never forget my mother said and I think almost all parents also said it to their children is that “education is the only treasure we can give you as parents so you must study hard inorder to reach for your dreams”. I am motivated by that phrase that when I’m having a hard time studying I always reach for advices of my mother and always stick that to my mind. I have come to believe that two main factors determine success. First of all is a person’s own determination and will to succeed. Are you ready to make sacrifices to achieve your goal, like working and studying at the same time? Are you prepared to recover after failure and proceed to your goal again? Without strong internal motivation, it is nearly impossible to become successful. The most important is the support of people around you. Success is about recognizing your weaknesses and accepting support from people who genuinely want to help you. For instance, if it were not for my parents’ support of my educational endeavors, I would perhaps not be attending college today.
