I soooo hope that the man we see in RE9 trailer is Oldsker.... 🫠 would you agree to share your thoughts about it ?

I'd like to see Oldsker properly returned if they're really going to do that, but here are my thoughts at the moment!

I felt an emotional outburst when I saw it, so I've been exhausted for the last couple of days, but I'm back! I'll be waiting for the next trailer to fully express myself 🖤

RE9. Who's in the chair?

Let's figure out who this person is. There's a theory going around in the fandom that it's Wesker. For the most part, it's my fault, because I once came up with this and this. It talks about a photo from RE8 where an elderly man is connected to Chris's photo. In it, I explained in detail that this is definitely not Heisenberg, and that Wesker's face model from RE4R was used for him. I recommend reading it. Now let's move on to the detective part.

Let's look at his hair – do they look like that strange photo? There is a distant resemblance, but this person does not have bangs.

Next.

Answer me this: has Wesker ever worn snakeskin clothing? My answer is no. The clothing in RE5 was never leather; it was a special futuristic material, which I wrote about here. Such extravagant clothing is not in his character. He also isn't wearing sunglasses, which are an essential attribute of his personality. Would Wesker get rid of his sunglasses and change his clothing style? That sounds very unrealistic for him. At the very least, the clothing and lack of sunglasses already tell us that this person is not Wesker.

His hair is black or dark brown. Wesker is blonde, and in RE4R his hair was made even whiter than it was before. I don't think he would dye it or anything like that. This is another detail that suggests that this is not Wesker.

Now let's look at the texture of his face.

His face is pale, covered with cracks/scars, or some kind of similar texture. Perhaps this is another hint at snake scales, like his clothing. It is quite possible that the character has a snake theme.

His skin also reminds me of the B.O.W. from the RE8 finale.

Now let's take a closer look at the shape of his face.

It's been more than 15 years since «Wesker's death», and more than 20 years have passed since RE4. Wesker is 44 years old in the remake, when at the moment he may be about 66 years old. He has aged, which can cause the shape of his face to deform, which happens to all people with age. And I see that the shape of the face has been preserved, except for subtleties like sunken cheeks. They are similar, but only remotely, and it may just be a coincidence. I still don't think it's Wesker.

Voice. The voice of the person in the chair (if it is his speech) does not match Wesker in RE4R. Moreover, it seems that English is not a native language for the speaker.

So, who's sitting in the chair? My verdict is that it's not Wesker, but they're trying to make us believe it. I would wait for more trailers, as well as gameplay, before I can say for sure.

And understand, if Wesker is alive, such a secret will not be shown in the very first teaser. This intrigue will be kept to the end, it would be too rash to reveal all the cards even before the game is released.

Most likely, this person works for The Connections, or is its leader.

It was from Spencer that he got his fascination with disease, and the goal of curing himself. But as time went on, his hope for a cure slowly faded. He even became interested in music in order to spend his infinitely free and terribly lonely time on something. He never occured that he had lived his whole life without care and compassion, all alone. He was thrown into a cruel world from birth. And it seemed that there was no need for the company... until he met someone. Christopher Redfield, the new usher, touched something long dead in the soul of the man living in the basements of the opera house. And aroused so much interest that Wesker wanted to possess him. To take Chris for himself. So that the taste of life that he felt would never leave him.

Привет, просто хотелось сказать вам спасибо за ваш блог! Получила огромное удовольствие, читая ваши хедканоны и теории (а еще смотря фанарты - они просто потрясающие 👀). Читаю уже второй или третий час подряд, а все ещё остались посты, которые не прочитаны. И вот так всегда: уже нужно ложиться, а ты находишь что-то интересное, что не отпускает.

Очень хочется отметить теории касательно того, что Вескер жив. Я слышала о них, но никогда не видела кого-то, кто всерьёз их пишет. И, может, раньше эти теории казались безобоснованными (популярный перс, его не хочется отпускать, все дела...), то сейчас, особенно после ваших постов с разбором сливов, у меня получается в них верить.

Мне и раньше-то хотелось увидеть его в новых частях, но теперь вы дали мне надежду (не надо было 😭).

А еще хочется отметить, что мне очень понравился длиннопост про Криса! Вы озвучили все, что крутилось у меня в голове, хотя игрок я не очень внимательный :)

И длиннопост про Вескера я тоже прочитала, хотя, каюсь, пропускала некоторые абзацы (меня поражает то, как сильно вы можете погружаться в детали по типу цвета глаз, особенности работы вирусов и прочее; с поста про модели пистолетов Вескера я вообще выпала - вот можете же вы...). Так вот, чего я выделяю этот длиннопост, хотя и так понятно, что читала в основном про Вескера. Просто нахожу немного забавным то, что в его биографии может копаться с таким упорством и воодушевлением. Мне все ещё не даёт тот факт, что первая часть когда-то попала в книгу рекордов за худший игровой диалог в истории, а мы тут вот до таких деталей разбираем образы персонажей и их взаимоотношения :'D И вот, нахожу интересным то, что наверняка большая часть деталей даже и не закладывалась сценаристами игр, и, если я правильно понимаю весь английский текст, даже вы отмечаете то, что некоторые детали не стыкуются. Но при этом все равно создаётся достаточно интересная картина, и образ персонажа, и взаимоотношения между персонажами интересные вырисовываются. Вот не верю я, что капком реально думают о сюжете на том же уровне, что и фанаты, но при этом не может же быть совпадением то, например, что Крис постоянно теряет кого-то, а его длс к 7 называется "Не герой", и эта линия так или иначе идёт ещё с первых частей.

И, наверное, это уже чисто моё виденье, но те же взаимоотношения Криса и Вескера напоминают, скорее, противостояние на идейном уровне, когда как оба являются двумя сторонами одной монеты. Есть же троп, который выворачивает взаимоотношения протагониста и антагониста, говоря, что антагонисты стремятся изменить мир к лучшему - в ту сторону, которая кажется лучше им, когда как протагонисты стремятся оставить мир таким, какой он есть. И вот как будто бы слишком высоко говорить такими словами о Резиденте, но как будто бы реально неплохо ложится, учитывая то, что взаимоотношения между Крисом и Вескером уж точно выходят за грань просто бывших коллег.

Ну вот, короче, хотелось ещё раз сказать вам спасибо! Заставляете меня думать о Резиденте ещё больше, чем я думала до этого х)

Честно, это правда неожиданно! Наверное, это такое хобби, когда настолько сильно углубляюсь в детали, которым на самом деле авторы столько внимания не уделяли (к примеру цвет глаз). Люблю наделять такие выдуманные штуки реализмом, потому что это интересно, как минимум из-за мысли "а как это работает?". И мне правда приятно, что вы обратили на это внимание.

Разборы личностей были написаны после того, как увидел, что слишком большой % фандома упрощает персонажей до простой красивой картинки. Особенно Вескера, за него обидно в большей степени (я не осуждаю фансервис, который крутится вокруг него, просто я практически не вижу, чтобы Вескера воспринимали всерьез или как-то брали во внимание его трагичную ситуацию). Поэтому, в первую очередь, я подумал рассказать все, что о нем известно, и только потом решил, что Крис и его тяжелая история тоже заслуживают быть услышанными. Сразу возникло чувство, что их сюжеты нельзя отрывать друг от друга, поэтому пускай идут таким вот комплектом. Как вы выразились, они две стороны одной монеты, поэтому неразделимы, и я тоже так считаю.

Это правда, что многие детали (в основном из-за ретконов) не стыкуются между собой. И мне, чтобы написать разбор психологии Вескера (и Криса), приходилось придумывать логичное объяснение, которое бы склеивало части воедино. В RE серии много игр и авторы не определились с каноном, поэтому, либо с каждой частью переписывают какие-то детали, либо добавляют новые, которые противоречат старым. Это и вызывало основную сложность... но за счет этого канон разнообразен и его можно интерпретировать по-разному. Поэтому это и хорошо и плохо одновременно. Люблю простор для размышления, но слишком большие несостыковки путают.

Взаимодействия в RE, которые можно разглядеть, это целая отдельная эстетика, и я рад, что вы тоже ее видите!
