Actually we should bring back movies being melodramatic and sometimes corny and also you’ll cry because of it. Film majors don’t @ me this is about the Star Wars prequels.

I loooove her#I like a gritty or realistic or whatever version of a genre project just fine but#it will never love itself warmly or be as unabashedly earnest as 2000s star war#I feel like we lost sight of movies being fun AND corny AND emotional because#everybody is so obsessed with the invisible audience they don’t want to be known as cringe to#also Av*ngers ruined quips as dialogue for everyone and those movies are like#yeah fun for the time or have fun moments but they’re the anti star wars prequels in the worst way#melodramatic? yes but not out of love it’s for the audience and often so dishonest#it might as well have a guy smirking at the camera going ‘did you enjoy that?’#Star Wars prequels are theater like drag and superhero movies are theater like Drake#Star Wars prequels put a note in your lunchbox the first day of school bc it knows you’ll like that#Superhero movies put a note in your lunchbox the first day of school so that everyone can see it cares enough to put a note in your lunchbox#Anyway I miss earnest heavyhandedness everything should be a (genre)opera
