Spring on the farm!
Spring and autumn are our busiest seasons of the year, and there’s nothing quite as amazing as seeing all the life come back to the land. The air is filled with bird song, as redwing blackbirds, swallows, cow birds, robins, and all the other birds make their way back to us. The grass is growing at a crazy rate, which is perfect for the sheep, who are so glad to be back out in the pasture. Plus, with a new addition of pigs and ducklings, life has gotten even busier than it was last year.
I’m so grateful to be living this life. The homemade bread is rising, and I’m about to go work on my brainstorm for book 2 of the new “secret” series. Happy Sunday and Mother’s Day everyone!

Gideon (aka Griddle, aka the largest lamb we’ve ever had) delivered two healthy lambs in the wee hours of the morning. They were already up, dry, and feeding by the time we went out and got them in the mommy pen.
Gid was a huge lamb. Her mother didn’t have the best genetics and herniated from an older injury after the birth. She was able to live long enough to wean Gid, but I’ve been nervous for this whole pregnancy and afraid Gid would have the same issues. It’s such a relief to know she’s safe and that the lambs are healthy.
And, yes, she’s named after the character from Gideon the Ninth. A large lamb who fought from the second she was born deserved a good name.

Hey everyone.
I'm not gonna lie, things are very hard financially here atm, and I really could use one or two commissions to balance things out. So, if anyone's interested, I have slots available for fully rendered commissions, flat colors, linework, and even chibis!
If you'd like to reserve a slot or get a quotation, check this link or DM me for more info!
Please please help me with a reblog so I can reach more people who might be interested! 🙏❤️

SHARE THE LOVE DONATION EVENT INFORMATION
You make a donation to Odyssey Youth Movement (https://www.odysseyyouth.org/donate); if you’re overseas and can’t do that for tax reasons/etc., make the donation to a local organization of your choice that supports marginalized communities. Please take a screenshot of your donation confirmation.
Fill out the Google Form (https://forms.gle/krQ36WuYmYbVLZaDA) with your information. Attach the donation confirmation picture to it. Send it in. If you have issues attaching the screenshot, please message me your screenshot through one of my social media accounts and tell me the name on the form it should be attached to.
I’ll be giving away author copies and artwork swag for as long as my supplies last.
To make the form and inventory easier to sort, I am requesting that you only ask for one item per form entry. This means that you may need to make multiple donations in order to get all the items you’re interested in, and I thank you for your patience and understanding with this. I’m only one person, this is my first rodeo, and I promise I’m doing the best I can while trying to raise money for causes near and dear to my heart.
Everyone who donates is also going to be entered in a random drawing for a paperback set of the entire Darkest Court trilogy. This isn’t an auction and donation amounts won’t make a difference in how many opportunities you get to be included in this drawing. If you are making multiple donations to get different books/swag items, you will still only get one entry in the trilogy giveaway.
I have no idea how this is going to go and I know that some of you have been desperate to get your hands on these kind of things, but I beg you to please be kind as I work through this. I may not get many people interested, but if this blows up bigger than I expect, it could take me time to get through everyone’s forms. Also, since I’ll be paying for all the shipping and handling out of my own budget, please be patient about when you’ll receive your items. I’ll do my best to get them out quickly, but grace is greatly appreciated.
I’ll be leaving the form open through April 7th. I’ll be drawing the winner of the paperback series on Tuesday, April 8th.

When I attended Coastal Magic con, I brought author copies of some books, as well as artwork and swag and let readers offer donations for them. The organization I chose to support is Spokane’s Odyssey Youth Movement, who are doing incredible work in my inland northwest community. Thanks to the incredible generosity of the CMCon readers, I was able to donate $164.
One good deed leads to another, and the support from my readers who weren’t able to attend the conference gave me an idea to continue this work.

RIP Joann, now what?
I wanted to make a post I could copy and paste and or link when I see folks asking where to buy fabrics when Joann is gone. I sew a lot, generally between 100-200 items a year and I don't do it on a big budget. Stores are not in a particular order.
Notions:
Wawak.com - start here, mostly stay here. Wawak is a supplier for professional sewing businesses and have the prices that show it. I will not pay for gutermann Mara 100 anywhere else. I buy buttons, tools, thread, and most elastic here.
Stitch Love Studio - this is where I buy lingerie supplies https://www.etsy.com/shop/StitchLoveStudio?ref=yr_purchases
Fabric:
Fabric Mart - this is one where you want to sign up for emails and never buy unless its on sale. They run different sales every day and they rotate. Mostly deadstock fabrics but I buy more from here than anywhere else. Fantastic customer service and if you watch you can get things like $6 wool suiting or $4 cotton jersey. https://fabricmartfabrics.com/
Fabrics-Store - again, buy the sales not the full price. Sign up for the emails but redirect them to a folder because it is TOO MANY. They stock linen or good but not amazing quality. https://www.fabrics-store.com/
Purple Seamstress - This is where I buy my solid cotton lycra jersey. They have other things, but the jersey is what I'm here for. Inexpensive and very good quality. If you ask she will mail you a swatch card for the solids. https://purpleseamstressfabric.com/
LA Finch - deadstock fabrics with a fantastic remnant selection https://lafinchfabrics.myshopify.com/
Califabrics - mix of deadstock and big brands, easy to navigate and always seem to have good denim in stock. https://califabrics.com/
Boho Fabrics - good variety, nice bundles. I have also gotten some really great trims from here. https://www.bohofabrics.com/
Firecracker Fabrics - garment and quilting fabrics, really nice selection and great sale section. I've bought $5 yard quilting cottons here several times. https://www.firecrackerfabrics.com/
Hancock's of Paducah - Quilting fabric and some limited garment fabric. AMAZING sale section. Do not sleep on the sale section. This is my first stop when buying quilting fabrics. Usually the last stop too. Not particularly speedy shipping. https://www.hancocks-paducah.com/
Itokri - This is something a little different. Itokri is an Indian business with incredible traditional fabrics. Shipping to the US is expensive, but the fabric is so inexpensive it evens out. I generally end up paying like $30 for shipping. Beautiful ikat and block prints. https://itokri.com/
Miss Matatabi - this is a little treat. This isn't where you go to save money, but there are so many beautiful things in this shop. Ships from Japan incredibly quickly. https://shop.missmatatabi.com/
Lucky Deluxe - Craft thrift store, always has an incredible selection and fantastic customer service. I need to close the tab fast because I never go to this website without finding something I need. https://www.luckydeluxefabrics.com/
Swanson's - the OG of online craft thrift stores, but I find their website harder to navigate. https://www.swansonsfabrics.com
Honorary Mentions: I haven't shopped at these places yet but I have had them recommended and likely will at some point.
A Thrifty Notion - https://athriftynotion.com/
Creative Closeouts - https://creativecloseoutsfabric.com/ being rebranded to sewsnip.com on March 1 - quilting deadstock
Hawthorne Supply Co. - I just got this rec and I think I need to not look too closely or I'm going to slip with my debit card. https://www.hawthornesupplyco.com/
This is not an exhaustive list of everywhere you can buy fabric, or even a full list of where I shop. There are SO many options out there in the world. You also need to think outside the fabric store box. I thrift men's shirt fabrics for quilts and sheets for backing fabric. I don't do a ton of in person thrifting and my local stores don't get a lot of craft materials but every thrift store is its own universe and reflects the community it is in. Go out and find something cool.
Oh and final note: Don't shop at Hobby Lobby.

Sometimes, I click on a “trending now” category on Tumblr and am transported to a place I’ve never seen. In that house of fandom, the walls drip with horny art in the style of Klimt, Boucher, and Courbet. Rich chandeliers sparkling with poetic excerpts of fanfic hang beside bare bulbs of inside jokes. The floor is tiled in shitposts and aesthetics and AO3 links. Sometimes, your foot will break through in places and you find yourself staring into a musty cellar where the walls are graffitied with hateful messages from those who have forgotten that shipping wars are not real wars, though both sides muddy their hands with blatant propaganda and take infantile pride in the casualties they cause.
And then you’ll open a fridge and find a small, but beautifully dedicated world-in-a-jar worshipping a meme of two characters who never met in canon kissing while enjoying passionate, athletic coitus with anatomically dubious cephalopodic arms while a cat with tearful eyes watches from nearby.
Truly, ’tis most wonderful.

Okay, y’all, US Amazon must be running a deal with Harlequin because I’ve never seen the box price of the Darkest Court this low. $1.99 for the whole series.
If you need some queer joy and HEAs in this time of utter fucking emotional turmoil, please take advantage of this deal while you can. I don’t get to set my prices (Harlequin does), I don’t usually know when they make changes (people tell me and I share when there are good deals), and I don’t give two shits if you want to get this set over purchasing the individual books. Please share this out so others can access them as well. I have no idea how long this sale lasts!
