September 1st

Students gathered in Diagon Alley last night and the sounds of their joyous ruckus stopped, as expected, at a reasonable time for the start of the new school year. Despite the exciting event, this reporter is saddened to write that in the early hours of September 1st the body of famed bookshop owner Caractacus Burke was found on his premise by Aurors.  The only comments made by the Auror team to the Daily prophet have been that they are treating the death as suspicious. Their reluctance to talk has made this reporter inclined to speculate that Mr. Burke has passed by the hands of another. Co-Owner Borgin has been avoiding questions from reporters and has declined to comment on the financial situation of the bookshop.   

I’m sure you are loyal readers will help us unpick the troubling, mysterious death that occurred at an event the Ministry threw to try to cheer us all up. We here at the Daily Prophet hope that the Hogwarts students have a wonderful year despite this heartbreaking start.

with little pomp and circumstance the crisp fall wind has blown in another school year. with little looking forward to the annual parade of young witches and wizards to kings cross station, the minister has made an interesting announcement. An all night carnival in diagonal alley, for returning students.

businesses from diagon alley have all agreed to chip in, setting up games in shops and magical rides scattered all over the alley. All run by local business owners. It would almost be fun, if it weren’t mandatory. Even still, with the sneak peak this reporter was able to steal it still might be a blast, but I'm reluctant to give the ministry too much credit. Especially since these kids will then have to take a train back to school, i’m no seerer but i dont think that will turn out how they expect it will.
