Thank you! And to answer your question; t's not out yet 💙 the pages are sketched out but still need ink and colour, but I got distracted and drew whump instead 😅 But the comfort is incomming 😊

I've been drawing to much cute stuff lately, so here's some outtakes from day six of The Cage.

But it’s finally finished, whatever it’s called.

I think a lot about how Rogue and Kurt are both mutants who feel set apart from the others, Rogue handling it a bit worse than Kurt does. I loved all the sibling hurt/comfort in X-Men 97 and wanted to write some of my own. So I spent 20 hours on a 3 page comic. You know how it is.

Anyways, disclaimer. I know that Professor X and Scott and Jean and the other mutants also experience alienation. There’s this thing called an unreliable narrator. This comic is from the perspective of Rogue so take that with a grain of salt. Just being careful because I know how protective people are of their favourite characters.

I keep forgetting to post this!  It’s been finished for a while.  More oils practice, featuring Kurt Wagner / Nightcrawler.  I loved how adorable baby!Kurt was in X-Men: Evolution, and definitely went with that sort of young vibe for him here, albeit in a different costume.  Mixin’ things up~~

(Why is he swinging from a rope?  I was thinking of pirate Kurt from the comics, and ship rigging came to mind.  Just go with it, okay. XD)

You know, if I had a nickle for every time Kurt rescued a mutant teen from a difficult situation and became bffs with them, I'd have three nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened three times. 😁

The way I need Kurt and his three rescues (Forge, Boom-Boom, and Morph) to be the weirdest, most unhinged friend-group just constantly causing headaches for Charles, Logan, Ororo, & Hank! 😆

He's a very empathetic guy <3 Like Boom-Boom's case that also sometimes ends up with him getting taken advantage of. Though I don't imagine he has any hard feelings since he's rather forgiving - and did also seem to enjoy her pushing him around a bit.

And Forge in Evolution - man, one of the reasons I wrote the cage is because of how the absolute horror he experienced just got hand-waved away! The only way I can justify him being trapped with no human connection for over TWENTY YEARS is that the passage of time feels a lot different in the middleverse dimension. And that he must have gone a little insane to be able to handle it even then. Crazy episode.

It would be fun to see them hanging out! Kinda feel like Kurt would end up as the therapist-friend because that gang got some issues.

In the last season she was resurrected to become the Horseman of Pestilence by Apocalypse. When they defeated Apocalypse she returned to normal, so she's still around!

She tried to reach out to Kurt and Rouge, but they refused (good for them). At this point they have no contact with her, but still some complicated feelings.

I don't have any plans on drawing Morphs backstory but my idea of it loosely is:

0-13: Pretty happy life, is shape shifted to look normal in public and is cared for by parents.

14- 16: Mom dies, relationship with dad deteriorates. They're kicked out/runs away from home.

16-17: Homeless, drifting around using their shape shifting to get by. Eventually get's the attention of the wrong people.

around 17-18: Sinister.

18-19: Jardine.

Now: The X-men, and therapy hopefully.

Isn't morph like a college student? Or around that age?

Yes, they are 19 in the story, but they very likely didn't finish high school - something the instructors the institute can probably help out with. (I wrote a little about Morph's life in this universe here, but a lot is left to readers interpretation).

Kurt is also around college age as well (around 18 going on 19) and Rogue too (20-ish). Kitty is slightly younger so she might still be in high school, if she didn't graduate early.

I wrote Kurt as a full-time X-man, but don't have any specific head-canons on who goes off to college/studies from the institute/works. Would love to hear people's ideas!
