sadé winston's alarm had rung loudly that monday morning. the sound resembling that of a blaring siren, warning of a deadly storm, yet instead it signaled the appalling monday dread. the woman groaned in her bed and in true movie fashion, slapped the alarm clock offup.
mondays were not sadé's favorite day of the week, not that it was a particularly popular day anyway. well as every story goes, it was her first day at a new job. the thought both exciting and filling her with dread.
although, the most mind straining problem of that morning had to have been the age old question— ‘what the hell do I wear today ?’, ushering in conflicting thoughts. she didn't want to dress overly formal and come off as too eager, she also didn't want to dress too casual and seem lackadaisical.
she finally decided on just wearing a slightly fitted blouse, short sleeved, coupled with suit pants & a pair of mary janes. she had decided against a jacket as the weather had become warmer, although she had to admit that virginia was still cold compared to florida.
every step after getting dressed was carried out begrudgingly too. sadé prided herself in being resolute, even confident in most situations and although she had achieved more than the down horrendous human beings birthed from her high school, it was still intimidating to be starting a new job - which was technically not even a job - with people that had copious amounts of experience.
whilst having their only daughter move away from them was sad, her parents were extremely proud, their daughter had freshly graduated from the academy, gotten her official FBI special agent badge & was accepted into a shadow programme from her dream department.
the behavioral analysis unit in quantico, virginia, had made quite the name for itself in the passing years, solving cases believed to be unsolvable, studying the behavior and reasons behind why criminals do what they do.
sadé had always had her sights on that department, the agents' work shaping her aspirations and drive to work hard. however, she was slightly out of the loop with the BAU's most recent cases, with all the buzz being around her academy finals.
the girl finished her morning routine with a spray of her signature strawberry - vanilla perfume & locked up her apartment. the weather was indeed slightly warmer than it had been in the weeks prior, the crisp morning air had somewhat alleviated the nauseating anxiety rooted within sadé.
she got into the blue honda s2000, the car her father had so graciously gifted her as a graduation gift and started it up. sadé had become increasingly dreadful the closer she got to her new workplace. nerves driving into her faster than she was driving her car ( & trust she was driving as slow as possible ).
‘c'mon sadé, it can't be that bad.’ she thought to herself, letting her grip on the steering wheel loosen so that the color would return to her knuckles. she had tried her absolute best to calm down. the girl always had a thing for theatrics, making things out to be more dreadful than they truly were.
to put it plainly, she panicked for no reason. deep down she knew that she was destined for success, although the doubtful voice that whispered harsh words never left her.
she had finally stopped in front of the office, stepping out of her car, bag slinged around her shoulder. sadé took a deep breath in, and one out for relief. she took her credentials badge out of her pants pocket to take a look at before she stepped in the office, it gave her a little confidence booster.
her shoes clicked as she walked ever so slowly into the the building, sadé had mentally slapped herself when she realized that she'd have to touch the elevator button with her bare fingers because her blouse was short sleeved. she hated touching things that most people touched, elevator buttons, staircase railings and so on.
she tapped the button to her floor, immediately grabbing the warm vanilla sugar scented hand sanitizer out of her purse to rid her hands of the disgusting elevator germs having a field day on her hands. the thought of germs had distracted her, so much so, she no longer felt anxious, only for it to return once she heard the little ding of the elevator signalling her arrival to her floor.
the sound exposed her tendency of making a strange facial expression which was pouting with wide eyes paired with a ‘hm!’ leaving her throat. it had been a habit of sadé to react that way in certain situations.
she shook her nerves before stepping into the bullpen, what she had assumed was part of the main team, all turned their attention to her. she smiled nervously, they all offered her welcoming smiles back.
and as if by the grace of god, the awkward moment was over, the unit chief also her soon to be supervisor aaron hotchner stepping out of his office to call everyone to the board room. sadé had never felt more relieved than that moment.
she trailed behind everyone into the board room, regaining a bit of her confidence since everyone had seemed mostly harmless. she had already profiled them in her head, it was going to be her job afterall, a good judge of character.
agent hotchner turned to sadé and began speaking “good morning & pleasure to meet you sadie winston, as you may know, I'm your supervisor aaron hotchner, I'll be overseeing your performance during your shadowing period.” sadé shook his hand, noting how he had pronounced her name completely wrong.
“it's a pleasure to meet you too sir and my name isn't-” sadé tried to speak up before she was cut off by her supervisor, garnering a few snickers from her colleagues.
“my oversight aswell as a testimonial letter from the agent you'll be shadowing will determine whether you will be officially hired into the BAU or not, the team and I have read your file and your academic achievements are quite impressive, hopefully they'll prove useful to this team.” he finished, sadé just gave him a court nod as both turned to face the team.
“alright everyone, although sadie is not part of our team officially, I expect everyone to treat her with respect and make her feel comfortable throughout her shadowing period.” aaron said, his tone firm and assertive.
“honey brown hair, that is your color, it really compliments your warm complexion.” a blonde woman complimented, stepping up to me. “nice to meet you ms winston, I'm jennifer jareau, the team's communications liaison, though you can call me jj.” she continued, smiling warmly at sadé. “aww, thanks, nice to meet you too, jj.” she replied back to jj, their hands meeting in a gentle handshake. a shorter blonde woman came up to sadé.
“hello hello, my sweet, I'm penelope garcia, the bau's technical analyst aka the most important member.” she said gleefully, shaking sadé's hand. “nice to meet you penelope, look at us though, pretty girls with matching frames.” sadé responded, making penelope's eyes and smile widen in realization. “wait actually! we have to be best friends now.” she squeaked back. “duhh!” sadé said, the two sharing a laugh.
“I've never seen people so happy to be partially blind.” a tall, dark & certainly goodlooking man said before sadé cut in, “actually, we're not partially blind; instead, the light is refracted into their eyes and focuses behind or in front of the retina, rather than directly on it. this doesn't equate to blindness; it simply means that objects, whether far or near, tend to be blurry, depending on whether we have myopia or hyperopia.” she rambled.
morgan feigned annoyance “great, we got reid and penelope's love child over here” he said, making sadé laugh in response. “she's completely correct though, and don't call her a love child, that's so weird.” a taller lanky male said, sadé turned her attention to him, her head tilted sideways in mild intrigue. the dark skinned man laughed, looking between sadé and the other man, saying “alright smartasses” before turning to back to sadé and formally identifying himself as agent derek morgan, one of the team's profilers.
they shook hands with a “welcome to the team, kid.” from derek. sadé's eyebrows contorted in confusion, “kid ?” she questioned. “yeah, we read your file, you're 23 right ? I'm finally not the youngest so you gotta get used to being called kid.” the lanky white man spoke again. “you're still getting called kid” said derek to him, earning a defeated sigh.
“your file seemed interesting, we're looking forward to hearing that origin story, baby girl.” he said to sadé, causing her to laugh once again while nodding. the white male spoke up again, “I'm doctor spencer reid, it's a pleasure to meet you though I deduced from your interaction with hotch, that your name isn't actually sadie, I might butcher it too but is it pronounced suh-day ?” he said, waving at her.
she laughed softly. “excellent profiling, partially correct pronunciation so that's an A for effort, it's pronounced shaw-day, also, doctor ? quite impressive for someone around my age.” sadé replied, noticing that he waved instead of wanting to shake her hand, though she figured he was probably germaphobic aswell.
the firm gaze she held made him the tiniest bit nervous. “y-yeah, your two masters are also impressive, most people our age can hardly handle one major.” he said, his tone displaying how genuinely impressed he was.
“thank you, doctor reid.” she replied, smiling at him before moving on to the next person. the interaction between spencer and sadé not going unnoticed by derek and penelope. both of them nudging eachother at how spencer was shamelessly staring while sadé introduced herself to the dark haired woman in front of her.
“elle greenaway, nice to meet you, sadé, hope I got that right.” the dark haired woman said. “that was perfect, good to meet you too, elle” she smiled, shaking elle's hand.
“alright, that being done, sadé, you'll be assigned to doctor reid. reid, you'll be guiding her through the cases and showing her the ropes & remember ms. winston, if you have anything you think might be useful during a case, don't hesitate to bring it forward. you'll meet jason, our other unit chief, later. ” aaron explained, still struggling to pronounce her name.
sadé's face contorted to that expression again, at the mention of jason, hotch looked at her strangely. “you okay ?” he questioned, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. sadé's face relaxed. “you said jason gideon ?!” she enquired, to which aaron nodded. sadé's breath caught in her throat, she couldn't believe it, she felt like a girl going to a book signing of a book that her changed her life, because jason was one of her favorite agents, a largely influential figure in her life.
junior year of high school accompanied by the discovery of jason gideon's work and the BAU in it's entirety truly shaped sadé's sense of justice, solidifying the idea of what she wanted to become at a young age. the pursuit of her career choice distracted her from the horrifying, suicidal thought inducing things she experienced in high school. additionally, the unrelenting support from her parents helped mellow out the trauma.
spencer nudged sadé out of her distracted state, “hey, I'll show you where your desk is.” he muttered, leading her out of the board room, the rest of the team filing out aswell. sadé made sure to sanitize her hands again whilst they were walking, remembering that she had shook everyone's hands just minutes before.
“so, sadé, you gon' let us profile you ? you know, for initiation.” derek morgan asked, when they all arrived at the main office area. goosebumps formed on sadé's skin, she wasn't opposed to the idea though it did make her the slightest bit anxious.
“well, I'm not officially on the team yet and it does sound a little intrusive.” she answered honestly. “but sure, I'll allow you guys to profile me, just this once.” she continued. spencer pointed to a neat desk space beside his, prompting her to put her purse down. “when you got here, you seemed confident, your body wasn't tensed, you smiled and waved at us, which is daring for someone new.” morgan started.
“but you became antsy when it came to hotch introducing you, which shows you planned on scoring a good first impression but didn't really plan out what you'd do afterwards, despite your initial nervousness you maintained eye contact when your mind cleared us as non - threatening, telling us that you're an anxious person but can regulate your emotions well.” morgan continued, sadé nodded, intrigued on what the other's had to say.
elle looked towards her, eyes narrowing slightly as if she were analysing her. “your outfit leans more formal than casual, which shows you wanted us to know you're serious about the job and your blouse is short sleeved which shows us you're confident in your own skin, self assured and don't mind revealing parts of yourself that other's would purposefully keep hidden.” she detailed.
“okay my turn, earlier when hotch pronounced your name wrong and cut you off when you tried to correct him, you didn't revise the point of trying to correct him, not even after he pronounced your name wrong the second time.” reid began speaking, shifting to face her. sadé leaned a hand on her desk, listening carefully to her assigned agent.
“that shows that you're assertive enough to express yourself but not confident enough to push back in the face of figure of authority, you also try to remain respectful and won't continue to press the issue because alot of people mispronounce it and though it frustrates you, you're new so you'll try to avoid conflict at all costs.” spencer says, making direct eye contact, her strong gaze once again making him look away in .2 seconds.
she giggled “wow, you guys are amazing.” jj joined in on her laugh “they are the best of the best.” she said. “now tell us which brand of hair dye you used because how is your hair still so stupidly silky.” elle enquired. the three of them including penelope were all flocked around her desk discussing hair dyes and other products. derek just rolled his eyes at their girly shenanigans.
before sadé knew it, it was already midday, she didn't have much to do really. everyone else was busy sorting through the paperwork for their respective roles. she was just sat staring at her computer screen. spencer turned her way. “hey winston, I forgot to tell you that you gotta have a go bag ready, it's needed since we travel often for cases.” he spoke. sadé looked at him, nodding & making a mental note of what he said.
“you seem bored though.” he said, a look of curiosity forming on his face. “it's a bad case doc, cure me.” she said, pressing the back of her hand to her forhead as if she was feeling for a fever. he let out a laugh, asking “wanna go through the previous case with me ?” her face noticeable lit up, “sure sure”, causing him to smile slightly.
while he was explaining, jason gideon had finally made his appearance. he stepped directly toward her and she stood up, extending out a hand to greet him. “sadé winston, it's so incredibly nice to meet you, mr gideon, I've been a huge fan for years.” she introduced herself, not even attempting to hide the excitement in her voice.
he offered a faint smile. “it's nice to meet you too, I've read your file and it looks promising, I'm sure you'll do great.” he spoke, his words making sadé feel like she was a popstar having one of those ‘I made it’ moments.
when jason stepped away, she sat back down, internally screaming at the fact that she just met THE jason gideon. reid & morgan looked at her in total amusement. “and now I can die happy.” she squeaked, before penelope came in and grabbed sadé.
“come, I'll show you my office, wife.” she said, dragging sadé to her little cave like office. “ooo, yay!” sadé exclaimed, walking hand in hand with penelope.
when they stepped in, sadé looked through the office in awe. “welcome to my cyber sanctuary my little fairy!” garcia “such a big setup, women in tech are so hot.” she said, blowing a kiss to penelope. “I love you already” penelope said dramatically, pretending to catch the kiss which caused both girls to laugh.
when sadé got home, she was elated, kicking off her shoes and calling her parents immediately to tell of her first day. although there weren't any cases, she found the team to be really nice and accepting, which was something she hadn't felt from peers since middle school.
she unwinded, thinking about each of her colleagues, she quite liked penelope and spencer particularly caught her interest. she made herself dinner, showered went to sleep peacefully that evening, satisfied with the outcome of the day.
a/n : I think somewhere in between, a paragraph got deleted, I don't know where and it's 1 am and I'm super tired so I'll fix that later. will also post this on the other websites later !

thinking about vampire!reader and human!spencer who gets off on her using him as her own walking blood bag. in the same way that some people do with choking, he enjoys the light-headedness whenever she drinks just a little too deep. he even finds the pain kind of enjoyable, even if he never pegged himself as a masochist before.
he hides the feeding marks at work under scarves and polo neck sweaters, and actually finds all the secrecy exciting. it's his own dark, perverted secret.
#my interests colliding#vampire reader and human spencer can be something so personal...#spencer reid#spencer reid x reader#spencer reid imagine
