god i hjate uni I FUCKING HATE COLLEGE i hate engineering i hate everything absolutely everything fuck

this had never happened to me before. even if I woke up at 6-7 AM in the fucking morning in high school, i didn't DREAD going to school, i didn't dread getting out of bed, i didn't dread all classes and felt like i was heading to the slaughterhouse every morning

AND I'M ONLY ON MY SECONDSEMESTER. the first one? i didn't even mind it! it had more general subjects, i honestly THRIVE on theory subjects, but, this? nuh-uh, no. i used to study college online (also engineering) and it felt SO much better, i don't know what's wrong with me

i've honestly thought about just letting the semester go (as my college doesn't let you drop out in the middle of the semester, dunno if that's the case everywhere else) but my family's told me about "what about the sacrifice they've done"

jesus christ i feel like such a whiner, i probably am, i just don't want to deal with this anymore. i've always been so weak and fast to complain, and now that i'm posed a challenge, i'm complaining. it just doesn't feel like i have control over my life in any area

nowadays i'm just tired, ALWAYS, and i know i KNOW it's because i don't have a schedule, i know it's because i can't organize myself and procrastinate. so i end up staying up late. at the start of the semester i didn't eat nor drink water properly, only until i got sick on the street did i get the message. i've cried like 4 times, and i know it's all most probably my fault, but i don't want to deal with this

and tomorrow i have to do the same all over again even if i just want to stay at home and SLEEP. i should be doing homework right now. i know i'm making this hell for myself, i know

Writing advice from my uni teachers:

If your dialog feels flat, rewrite the scene pretending the characters cannot at any cost say exactly what they mean. No one says “I’m mad” but they can say it in 100 other ways.

Wrote a chapter but you dislike it? Rewrite it again from memory. That way you’re only remembering the main parts and can fill in extra details. My teacher who was a playwright literally writes every single script twice because of this.

Don’t overuse metaphors, or they lose their potency. Limit yourself.

Before you write your novel, write a page of anything from your characters POV so you can get their voice right. Do this for every main character introduced.
