Sharing some insights with BACK ISSUE about the process behind the Annual, Gibbons explains: “we’d spoken about this particular story some years before—where I remember sitting in a pub garden outside a little convention and Alan [Moore] was holding forth and talking about this idea that he had for a story that was set on Krypton if it hadn’t exploded, and we had a little chit-chat about that and I thought “that’s a really neat idea for a story.” And I think when it came to the point that he and I were asked to do the Superman Annual, he kind of had the basic story and the basic Krypton end of it laid out and then mixed it in with the part of the story that takes place in the Fortress of Solitude. So it wasn’t one of these things that suddenly came about, it was something that had been cooking for a while and that I’d been aware of a little bit of the early history of.
Hey, gang, the preview for BACK ISSUE! #148 just came out and as some of you may know this particular 'Bring on the Bad Guys' feature marks my official debut as a BI contributor!
It's also my first (paid!) work published in print after years of playing the field with various online publications and I couldn't be prouder to make my foray into comic book history & analysis in a magazine that's meant the world to me for so long now. I got the opportunity to talk to some real amazing folks in the process, and it's a genuine honour to be featured in here among some of the medium's brightest stars. I hope you'll be pre-ordering or picking up this issue when it comes out on November 22th 2023 and let me already tell you, this article's sure to be the first of many more to come!
[Preview from BACK ISSUE!'s official website.]

Ashton Kutcher is like a mega millionaire but his PR team got him posing in front of Tom Sawyer’s fence in a white t-shirt for an iphone video where he reads cue cards about how he “believes survivors” (and how he and Mila Kunis didn’t expect anyone besides the judge to find out they don’t).
I hope this is what replaces notes app apologies because it is objectively much funnier.

By the way, it was another great day in "No one really knows the rules of baseball, they're all faking when they say they do" news. This guy John Rave "caught" a ball (the base kind) but people who are watching him do so are insisting he in fact did not catch the ball, at least per baseball philosophy and/or orthodoxy. Sports fans seem somewhat divided about it though the "yes he did, he caught it, based upon words having meanings" crowd is perhaps slightly more persuasive, to me.
So: not only do people not know the rules of baseball but maybe that includes the verbs...? I mean, yes, theoretically the word "catch" is just a series of gutteral noises our mouths make and what things "mean" beyond that is a dicey topic, generally, considering the limited spectrums of light we are able to perceive, etc. I didn't really study enough Wittgenstein to understand any of this, though. I guess I can't trust that I really know what catching means anymore. Thanks, MLB.
The only rule in Baseball that I think I fully understand at the moment is if you say anything about the Baltimore Orioles, they will kidnap you and do rendition to you. That one seems worth knowing, though. I want to stay on the straight and narrow-- I'm not a lawbreaker, I'm a lawmaker. The Baltimore Orioles: I'm for 'em!
