Hey you know me I'm just an average joe trying to figure out what this life is all about and why we are who we are and why we do what we do. I'm not always that serious I am actually a pretty relaxed laid back guy, or at least that's what I like to think. I love to make new friends so......lets be friends

It's the freaking weekend, baby I'm about to have me some fun!
I can't believe it....I am posting another blog only two days after my last one.  I bet you didn't see that coming.  I will admit i am really bad at keeping this updated, but I have been thinking about some things lately and so I thought I would share them.  First of all i will tell you about my weekend; well its more like the beginning of the week, but I work on Saturdays so I consider Sunday and Monday my weekend.  Anyways I lead worship Sunday morning and after church a group of us went to Lake Whitney to spend the afternoon together and to have Sunday night worship by the lake at Sunset.  I'm going to try and post a couple of pics that I stole.....because i didn't take any pictures. Funny story, I took my guitar because I was leading the worship set and since we were swimming and playing volleyball i decided to put my phone, license, and debit card inside of my guitar case so it wouldn't get lost.  A friend of mine moved my guitar case and saw that one of my latches wasn't shut so they shut it, little did they know that I don't shut that clasp because it is the one that has the lock built into it and the lock is broken and it sometimes locks itself....so you can probably guess what happened.  The guitar case was locked with my phone and the rest of my stuff inside of it.  I didn't have my key and it wouldn't have mattered anyways if i did because the lock is broken.  So I would definitely have to pick it (which this wasn't my first Rodeo with this situation)   Thankfully another friend of mine brought two instruments, one being a guitar, and the other a viola.  So I was still able to lead worship at sunset........So the morale of the story is??????................You got it.....Look both ways before you cross the road!!  I also realized and the guitarists that read this will probably know what I am talking about.  it is weird using other people's guitars when you are so used to your own.  I played my friends guitar and it wasn't a bad guitar it just felt different and it felt like I was a beginning guitar player again....not that I was really much better than just a beginning guitar player to start off with, but it felt like I was struggling with simple things because it felt weird playing on an unfamiliar guitar....maybe that's just me though???  Anyways now that I went off on a long tangent, all of that to say that I didn't take any pictures.
On Monday my sister and I decided to go get lunch and watch a matinee.  We ended up going to McAlister's Deli for lunch, i hadn't been there since I lived in Springfield, MO.  It definitely hit the spot, after that we walked over to the Studio Movie Grill and decided to watch The Avengers in 3D.....That movie was two words AWE-SOME!!! (I know its one word and I just broke it down into syllables, but just go with it)  My favorite character by far has been since the beginning of these Marvel movies and will always be Tony Stark (Iron Man).  I love his sarcasm and his jokes, I can't get enough of it.  It might be because i'm pretty sarcastic as well or at least I think I am, maybe I'm not that sarcastic. Iron man was great in that movie, Thor on the other hand....not so much...He seemed pretty whiney in this movie, still love him though.  Hulk Smash at the end was augh maze ing!!!!  Anyways after that I went home and it started to storm.....The thunder rolled and the lightning struck, another love grew cold on a sleepless night.  (Past tense version of thunder rolls in case you were unaware of what was going on) So i was bored and decided to watch another movie.  I got the American in the mail from Netflix so I decided to watch that.  If you haven't seen it and are curious about it, don't waste your time.  It was not very good.  I do like George Clooney and he has moved up in my rankings of favorite actors and straight up awesome people ever since he was arrested at a protest.  (if you are interested here is a link to that.  https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/p480x480/389681_3583411778334_1064413707_3335148_81049018_n.jpg ).  So there you have it my weekend in a nut shell.  Looking forward to seeing what this week and the next weekend has to offer me.  Oh I almost forgot my Mom is coming down to visit us for Mother's day; she gets in late Wednesday night and I'm not sure when she flies out, but it will be fun spending some time with her.  i am really excited and looking forward to that.  I am going to leave you with a question that I have been pondering, it is not a very serious question but I wanted to put it on here because my whole Blog is about Seeking out Truth in Everyday Life....so what a better way to do that then ask questions and think about them and try to dissect them.   So enjoy.
This question has been plaguing me for sometime now.  I thought about it one night while I was cleaning tables while closing the coffee shop.  Ok so again this isn't serious but it is something to think about.  They say that "Good things come to those that wait."    I couldn't stop thinking about this saying.  Why do they tell us that?? I know that it is to learn patience, but its confusing.....You have people telling you that you need to grab life by the horns and go after your dreams with all that you have.  To take charge of your life and if you want something you have to grab it for yourself because its not going to be handed to you on a silver platter....Do any of these sound familiar or have you heard of sayings along those lines?  So which ones are we supposed to do??   Good  things come to those who wait....Can Good things come to those who don't wait?....Can bad things come to those who wait too?? I mean we are told not to procrastinate.....isn't that just waiting for a good thing to come??  Procrastination is a bad thing.  I try not to do that, but I used to be the king of it.  I don't remember anything that I procrastinated on that turned out to be a good thing....for instance waiting to start a 10 page research paper until the night before has not been a good thing.  I ended up only getting 7 pages of mediocre information and got a bad grade on the paper, same with tests waiting until the last minute to study isn't  usually a good thing every time I've done that I've failed the test.  So do Good things really come to those who wait?? I do get that they are just trying to instil patience in us, but why say that and then at the same time say we need to take charge of our lives and go after what we want full steam.  Obviously we need a balance between the two we need to take a second and look at what we are chasing after and think to ourselves is this really a good thing that we are going for and will it in the end be beneficial to me and my life and whomever else it may concern, but also at the same time we can't just sit there and let opportunities and life pass us by because we are waiting for a huge floating neon sign with bells and whistles saying pick this one.  I wish that would happen that would make my decisions in life a lot easier.  Those signs however don't exist so we just end up sitting there and letting life and all of our opportunities march right by us.  So I guess in the end Good things can come to those who wait, but if you wait too long then its gone. So now you have an inside look at my brain and what I think about....it's pretty scary huh ...lol. I hope that everyone has a great day! Go out and Enjoy life, learn something new, and seek truth in everday life!  Grace and Peace.

Just another day in the life of Chadwick Fairbanks
Well hello my faithful few.  How has life been treating you since we last spoke, or I should just say since you have read my blog.  Life for me has been quite interesting (not really), but a lot of stuff has happened.  For instance this past weekend the coffee bar hosted its 4th Annual Art and Music Festival the theme this year was Creative Culture for Change.  We had 3 stages and 30 bands playing music throughout the day, we also had a lot of charities come and set up booths to raise awareness for the local, national, and international charities that you could be apart of.  Let's just say that was a busy weekend.  I woke up at 8:30am that Friday morning to try and start getting stuff set up for the festival and I did not go to sleep until 2:00 AM that Sunday morning.  Yeah I know, I'm crazy like that.Anyways the festival was a hit, I had a lot of fun, I actually don't really remember it because of my lack of sleep, but it was worth every second of it.  Now that the festival is done and over with my sleeping schedule (or really a lack of one) is back on track and I am back in to the routine of the Chadwick Michael Fairbanks life.  I am trying to improve my guitar playing skills, my nun-chuck skills and my bo staff skills.  I am also doing a terrible job at checking off all of the things I had on my list from my previous blog.  I have however started to do my music theory and guitar lessons that I had.  I have also started to work out again and try to get back into shape, and lastly I have started to Mix some music again; which I am really excited about that.  I have found a website through a friend, it is a website for a non-profit recording studio and each month they put up the raw tracks to a song that they have recorded and you can download the raw tracks and remix them.  They are asking that you would send the song back to them so they can see how it sounds and what ideas you had with the song.  So I am currently remixing a song from that website and it has been a lot of fun getting back into mixing.  I feel like I have gained a lot of rust since graduating from recording school that needs to be shaken off.  Also there a couple of local bands here that have said that they will give me their raw tracks to remix for them too.  I told them that if they let me have some of their raw tracks I would try and remix and master it for them and if they liked it then they could have it for free.  Hoping that I do  good job with them and they want to keep doing it and then I can start to charge them some money and they will tell their friends who in turn would tell their friends and hopefully with the money that I get I can start buying gear that I need to actually do their recordings instead of just remixing it.  That is the plan anyways, who knows whether or not it will actually happen that way?  So that is pretty much all that is going on in my life right now.....other than the usual Slangin beans at the coffee shop and leading worship every couple of Sunday mornings and every Sunday night....plus doing audio work for the church and running sound for the music venue shows.  I actually do a lot when I sit back and look at it.  I stay pretty busy, but I feel like I could be doing more at the same time.  Anywho I actually have to go into work right now so I will end this.....Grace and Peace!!
I usually try to put a video or song of the day with my blogs so be on the look out for it.

It has been way too long!
Hello my few followers, I hope that all of you are doing well.  I have not been on tumblr in a long time. I have recently been working on some new mixes that I have downloaded from a cool website.  There is a non-profit recording studio that puts one song a month up on their website and you are able to download the raw tracks and mix the project.  I figure since I have a professional recording certificate and haven't really done anything in the recording field in about a year or so I should probably get back into at least mixing some recordings since I do not have the equipment or the finances to buy the equipment that I want/need for a decent recording.  So I downloaded some songs and I'm starting to mix things and shake the rust off of my learned skills.  It is really exciting and I have honestly really missed it.  Its weird but I could sit and listen to a snare drum for 2 and half hours and try and make it sound a certain way.  I just love how each and every instrument and sound plays a vital role in the overall sound and make up of a song.  Music is seriously my favorite thing in the world.  It draws out real emotions, passion, excitement, frustration, meditation, grief, etc... Everything can be drawn out of music and to be able to work with and capture the things that make up music is really exciting for me.  Haha I know I'm a nerd when it comes to this...whatever...lol  So that is what I have been doing recently with my time.  I have also decided that I'm going to try and do some home brew I am also thinking about trying to make some home made wine.  We shall see how that goes, maybe I will put a play by play from start to finish.   Other than that live has been pretty ordinary for me.  I have a huge to do list and I am slowly starting to check things off.
Examples from my to do list:
-Get my car fixed...i have to take it and get a new exhaust pipe because the old one rusted through, also last year some punks thought it would be funny to bust out my tail light so I have yet to find a tail light that matches the one I have currently. and then my neighbor thought that they would be blind one morning and back into my car so I have a huge dent on the driver side front fender which is the one that I just replaced from the time that I dented it the first time.  Have I mentioned that I really hate cars there is nothing good about cars yes they get you from point A to point B but they just deteriorate from the moment you get them.  I'd like to think that I take pretty good care of my car as far as checking oil pressure and fluids and air pressure and I'm not a crazy driver but ever since I started driving this trusty 91 Buick Century, it has done nothing but cause me problems and cost me money.  new brake lines, new fenders, new tail light (when i get it), new exhaust pipe, new tires, new water pump and belts.  They just fall apart I feel like I spend more time fixing them and paying for them then I actually drive them.
-Make Home Brew and Wine - I really want to try my hand at this I think it would be fun to start something from scratch and see it all the way through to the finished product.  I am going to have to ask my Boy Daniel Moffatt or Mickey Humpula for some from scratch bread recipes because I want to do that too.
-Fix up stuff around the house.  I have a few things that need to be fixed in the apartment.  put up some shelves in the laundry room and other various places. Fix a window that isn't completely sealed around the frame.
-Build a book shelf, and a garden box for my sister.  My Sister wants to start a garden but we don't really have any place for it so she wants me to build her a garden box.  it seems pretty simple I just have to get the time and motivation to do it.
-Learn my instrument better.  I have been wanting to learn to play the guitar better and to actually master my craft.  I don't really know any theory so I bought a book on theory that I'm starting to go through or I should say that I'm trying to go through
-Train for the Spartan race.  I want to run the Spartan race in May so i have been working out and I need to start running for it.  If you don't know what it is I will try and post a link for you.  http://www.spartanrace.com/texas-obstacle-racing-spartan-sprint-2012.html
Those are just some of the things on my to do list that I am slowly checking off.
I guess now that I have rambled on forever I should end this.  I hope that everyone is have a great day and I will try and stay up to date with things in my life, key word is TRY.  I'm not very good at remember to update.  Tune in next time for the not so exciting life of Chadwick Fairbanks
