What I'm Reading, What I'm Watching January 2025
Since one of my long term writing goals was to read more, I thought it would help to keep track of what I knocked off Mount Tsundoku. Here’s as good a place as any to post what I’ve read to keep me honest, and what my favourite reads were each month. I’ve changed up my reading goals again. This year the plan (so far) is to try and clear my graphic novel list at the library. This list is so long…

Fungi Hits Brazil!
My story “First They Came for the Pigs” originally published in Fungi, an anthology edited by Silvia Moreno-Garcia and Orrin Grey, was one of my earliest fiction sales. A few years back the anthology was translated into Japanese, and now it’s available in Brazil! Here’s a picture of the book (photo shared by the JABberwocky Agency). It looks so good! I can’t wait to get my hands on it! “First…

New Year, New Goals 2025 Edition
For those readers who might be new around here, every year I make some writing related goals to try and keep my creative year on track. So … that said, here were my goals for 2024: Revise and submit my WIP novella. Continue submitting my short fiction. Submit at least four new stories. Right now the plan is for these stories to include one each from a previous grant project, the Thunder Road…

My 2024 in Books (and Stories)
Holy shit (again). In 2023 my reading goals were to read fifty books, and fifty short stories. I changed up my reading goals in 2024. I wanted to read 100 books (that weren’t graphic novels) and more non-fiction. I also tried reading exclusively from the library (one fiction and one non-fiction book at a time) allowing myself one book from my shelf if the transfer timing doesn’t work out (not…

Hauntings and Hoarfrost Available for Preorder
My story “Mile Roads” will be appearing in the upcoming Tyche Books anthology, Hauntings and Hoarfrost. “Mile Roads” is another story in my Uncanny Pembina Valley sequence that began with “Cheating the Devil at Solitaire” (In fact, “Mile Roads” serves as a prequel of sorts to “Cheating the Devil at Solitaire” but can be read on its own if you haven’t checked out any of the other…

Carpe Noctem On Sale
Carpe Noctem contains my fourth Midnight Man story: “Midnight Man versus The Long Night”! I also have the pleasure of sharing a table of contents with two writing pals who I’ve somehow never been in the same book with: David J. Fortier and David Jón Fuller (who some of you might recognize as my Thunder Road copy editor). “Midnight Man versus The Long Night” isn’t quite Midnight Man’s origin…
