These Chains Bind Me

Angels, like Castiel, used to be high and mighty. People would praise them or pray to them. But after being tossed out of Heaven, everything changed. Humans realized secrets about them, how to seal in their grace. They clipped their wings. Worst of all, they kept them as pets. Sold them and treated them like slaves. Some good, some bad. Castiel hadn't had the best of luck with owners. Or fitting in general. Angels were being bought left and right and Castiel was still stuck in his cage in the Grounds, the place were they store the angels. He's been bought before, but only to cruel families who get rid of him after a while. [[Rp Account for AU!Castiel]]

Castiel frowned slightly when he saw the other stop in front of his cage. Only making eye contact for a split second before looking down again. It was against the rules to look to humans as if they were equals. His position proved that they were not equals at all.
The rain felt like needles hitting his wings and his body. Castiel squirmed uncomfortable in the cage with the other staring down at him. Like he did when everyone stared down at him in his cage.

Castiel felt the workers tie the ropes around his wings and lead him outside. The sun was just rising which meant the day was starting. Due to yesterdays bad ordeal, Castiel was being punished. The angel had stood up for one of his brothers so he wouldn’t get hurt.
They pulled him outside and put him in a smaller cage. His wings poking out of the sides. They told him they had to clean him off, from the punishment the day before. Blood was splayed across him. They sprayed him with cold water and left him out there. Bruised and his wings in awkward positioned. The bad angels went in the back. Humans tended to ignore them.
Storm clouds roared over and Castiel was pelted with large raindrops. He saw humans walking in on the inside through the window. He tried to adjust himself into a more comfortable position. Watching, slightly pitiful, while humans passed him.

Castiel's eyes locked onto someone that was...staring at him. He wondered what he was looking at him. Out of all the other angels in the building why was the human staring at him.
He fluffed up his wings, shaking off some of the water. The rain was already slowing down. Just a flash rain storm? He looked up and saw the clouds were moving away fast. There were already clouds in the distance though, it would probably rain again soon. At least it stopped for now though. He shook off his wings, and waited for the rest of him to dry off.

Castiel shivered as the wind increased and it became cold. The rain sprayed him and it stung like freezing pins. He moved his wings to shield his body. Turning away from the rain he stared into the window. Wishing he could be in there where it was at least warm.
He spotted a few humans in the warehouse, standing by the windows. No one would be coming out here for sure now. And the angel couldn't blame them either. The rain roared in his ears and he saw a flash of lighting in the sky.

There were certain things about the angels being captured that fascinated Dean. Perhaps the most fascinating for him were their wings. They were things that, obviously, no other humanoid creature really had, and so they were something that stood out to him.
Of course, the way that they were treated didn’t seem completely correct to Dean, but at that same time, he could not think of a way that would make them easier to deal with, because he knew that they probably had a reason for being locked away, other than just the fact that they were different from the humans. And, of course, throughout time, the humans knew that anything different was ‘bad’, inherently.
He walked past the building, glancing in before shaking his head at the appearance of what was inside before he continued to walk, the rain starting to pour down. His brother had told him that it was unlikely that rain would come, and so he hadn’t brought anything to keep himself away from the rain. He put his hands over his head and ducked into the building, moving further back into it so that no one would try to interact him, and he could escape once the rain was gone.

Castiel flinched slightly at the stinging on his wings. They were sensitive. It wasn't Sam's fault and he knew that. But it also felt better...in a way. Cleaner  in a way. He waited quietly for Sam to finish fixing his wings.
He gave a small nod. "They're usually bigger..." But they were unhealthy and most of the feathers had fallen out. He turned his head a little to see Sam wrapping the gauze around them. He had dealt with infections in his wings before, and it wasn't the most fun thing in the world. "I...I suppose I am. A little. But I do not mind what we have..."

Castiel looked down again frowning slightly. "Oh." He decided that he would probably be asking a lot of questions to the other. Sam was different from humans and that in itself confused him.
He let out a sigh of relief when the ropes fell off his wings and they spread out across the room. Some feathers fell out around the room, and he frowned. "I-I'm sorry." Castiel didn't know if that would upset teh other or not.  After picking up handfuls feathers and tossing them aside into a trashcan, he heard Sam talking to him.  He quickly followed after the other, pulling in his wings so he could fit inside the room.

"I don't remember." He mumbled, looking down. Castiel gave the other a look of confusion. "But.." Why? Now he had millions of question. "I-I...how?"
The angel gave a small shrug. How didn’t the other know? “We just…fell.” He looked to the Warehouse when the other gestured to it. He heard someone coming out, the doors creaking and then footsteps. Castiel’s eyes widened a bit. “I have to go.” He mumbled quickly and looked down at his feet.

The angel tilted his head again. “I’m sorry…I don’t…” Castiel didn’t know a Sam or Dean.  He frowned and looked down. “I-We all stay here. The angels.” The warehouse full of them. Castiel was on cleaning duty tonight, he had just been on his way to get his supplies.

Castiel jumped slightly when he saw the jumping dog. He knew she was just excited, but the angel was still surprised at it's actions. Waiting patiently to get in, Castiel followed behind Sam. His eyes moving around the apartment and then he eyed the dog again who seemed to be staring at him.
The angel wasn't sure how to act in this situation. Or how to make himself at home. So he stood there, staring at the dog and not knowing what to do. Finally realizing Sam wasn't in the room anymore, he looked around for his owner.
Watching him come in with a knife, he took a step back. Fear flashing through his eyes. When Sam told him what he was going to do, relief flooded over him. The angel gave a small nod. "Alright..." Hopefully it wouldn't hurt too bad. No one ever attempted to fix his wings for him.

Castiel felt a jolt of electricity go through his wing and he woke up with a start. The owner continued on and moved down the isle of cages doing the same thing to every angel if they weren't awake. His wings trembled against the bars of the cages. The shocks meant the day was starting. People would go through the isles and decided who they wanted to buy.
Trying to get comfortable, Castiel slid back as far as he could go, and let his wings press against his back. Some parts of them still sticking out of the bars. That was impossible to avoid in the small cages. A few humans walked by, kicking at his cage. The angel wrapped his arms around himself, and watched as people walked by. Some stopping to look at him and check the prices.

Castiel tilted his head at the other. A worker perhaps. Maybe new to this whole thing. It wasn't the place for the angel to ask either. He gave a small shake of his head, looked down. "No..." He mumbled.
"Is there something I can do for you?"

Castiel turned his attention out the window on that note. Sam would have to learn all this. How was he clueless to the selling of angels and the abuse they endured? Of course there were humans like Sam who believed angels should be treated equally. That was at first. His older brother, Gabriel, was picked up by one and they freed thousands of angels from one of the Grounds areas. Castiel had heard about it. It didn't last though, most angels were rounded up later and forced back into their cages. It also meant the security got a lot better and harsh. People finally saw angels as cunning and dangerous. They began to fear them and that's when the real hell had begun.
Castiel gave a small nod at the mention of Pumpkin again. He had been around cats before but that was all. They seemed to like him just fine. Castiel would play with them when the owner wasn't looking, not that she cared much. Castiel was always looked down as a pet anyway. Better a pet then a slave.
Finally the bus came to a stop and Castiel stood when Sam did. He followed Sam out, keeping his eyes on the other's feet as they walked through the bus isle. He felt a child pinch his wings, not to be cruel. She had just been curious. The angel let his wings move slightly under the rope to run his feathers against the child, glad that the parent didn't see. He had always like children, how they still looked up at angels as amazing creatures and not slaves or pets.
Once out of the bus, Castiel stepped down beside Sam. Looking up when the other pointed at the building. An apartment. It seemed nice, but everything seemed nice to him after being in a cage. He looked to Sam and followed after him.

Castiel curled into the back of his cage which was only big enough for him to lay down, his wings out and bent awkwardly against the bars. His feathers poking out. Normally they would be groomed and nice looking but after being given back from just another home and back to the station he was staying at before.
Watching as the humans walked by his cage, some looking at him while other's just passed without a glance. Castiel looked around to see some of his other brother and sisters, looking just as pathetic as he did. Some worse. Some had been through worse then he had. Castiel let his wings tremble slightly and he looked up to see someone staring at him.

Castiel woke up with a jolt when someone kicked his cage. It meant the day had started and people were looking at him now. Humans were already started to file in. The owner was having some special sell for certain angels. Castiel didn't fall in that category.
Most humans passed his cage without even a glance. His wings trembled against the bars of the cage. He watched as the customers walked by his cage. A few giving snide remarks about how disgusting the place was with all the feathers blowing around.
