Theology that defines virtue as obedience to God suppresses the virtue of revolt. A woman being battered by her husband will be counseled to be obedient, as Jesus was to God. After all, Eve brought sin into the world by her disobedience. A good woman submits to her husband as he submits to God.
Some will say that absolute obedience to God doesn’t carry danger, because God is good and does not ask us to be violent. But this defense requires us to be certain that we are always right in understanding what God asks of us. We are fallible. The Bible, some argue, provides an infallible revelation of the will of God. But the Bible is a complex, multi-voiced document. Its teachings can be harmonized only by imposing onto the Bible a uniformity that is not in the text itself. There is no simple revelation of God’s will. We have to accept responsibility for our interpretations. Obedience is not a virtue. It is an evasion of our responsibility. Religion must engage us in the exercise of our responsibilities, not teach us to deny the power that is ours.
A God who punishes disobedience will teach us to obey and endure when it would be holy to protest and righteous to refuse to cooperate.

guidance i felt talking to mary this morning -
she reminds me to put forth my best energy during prayer and to avoid distraction or hesitancy
she invites me to strengthen my spiritual relationship and ties to her
she promises to nurture my spiritual growth
she reminds me to approach my practice respectfully, and not to overexert myself
she asks me to strike a balance between veneration of her and God. this one was the hardest for me because i don't feel much of a closeness to God right now - i don't even know where i land on His existence or approximation to the Abrahamic God lol - but i could not ignore this message or interpret it in any other way. tbh it feels very on brand for her. i think she would balk at the idea of being "worshipped" in place of Christ. her ultimate goal seems to be calling me back to Him.
she calls me to go forth wearing her image or a sigil representing her in order to invoke her guidance and protection.
all in all a good start to my day!

from the darkness of sorrow and sin to the light of Christ 🕯️(© St. Hyacinth Catholic Church, Rzeszów, Poland; Christ the King Catholic Church, Lublin, Poland; Holy Trinity Basilica, Kraków, Poland)
Roraty in Poland
The Rorate Mass is a votive Mass whose prayers focus on Our Lady, the Annunciation, and her expectation of the birth of her Son. It is offered during Advent and celebrated by candlelight, just before dawn. Lighting a candle means being ready for the coming of Christ. Prayers and singing take place in darkness, and when one leaves the church it’s already light.
Roraty are associated with the custom of lighting a special candle – roratka, which symbolizes Mary.
The Rorate Mass has helped Poles over the centuries experience the essence of Advent.

GUYS
My teacher recommended me a bible website, and it's the coolest thing ever
Basically, it's called Catena, and the gist is that for every verse of the bible you can click on it and see commentary from TONS of scholars across the centuries
the funniest part is that it's formatted like a comment section so it looks like all these massive scholars all got together and commented on the bible
which they did (communion of saints my beloved)
BUT ANYWAYS yeah I just felt that this should be shared with you all :)
