Losing My Voice
Words: 829 Summary: After a bad day, your boyfriends comfort you.
A/N: This was my first attempt at something like this (relationship-wise) so let me know what you think!
I was so angry and hurt. All these people telling me my voice matters. Bull. As I arrive to the house, I share with my two boyfriends, I slide down the inside of the front door. My vision starts to get blurry with tears, and my chest feels tight. I'm fighting to keep even breaths. I know I won't be able to stand, so instead I crawl my way over to the couch and climb onto it. My boys will know what's wrong as soon as they get home, so I let the tears fall, and the only sound I hear echo through the empty apartment are my sobs ripping through my chest.
I don't know how long I sit there before I hear the lock being manipulated by a key. I can still feel the ghosts of my tears on my face, so I don't see any point in trying to hide. Additionally, I could really use some comfort. Steve walks into the living room first. I watch him over the edge of the couch and feel it dip as he sits beside me. Han isn't too far behind him, but his footsteps head toward the kitchen.
"Babe, talk to me. What's going on?" Steve asks, wrapping an arm around me and tugging me gently into his arms. My vision starts going blurry again, and my chin wobbles.
"Steve." My voice cracks as I utter his name, and he simply squeezes me tighter, seeming to understand my unspoken words.
"Danno." Steve calls out. Danny’s footsteps get closer and I peer over the edge of the couch again as best as I can from my position in Steve’s lap. The couch dips once more as Danny sits next to our two-person pile and leans toward me. He hugs me, and though my face is in his chest, I take a breath, smelling him, letting the familiar scent bring calm to the chaos in my veins. I let go again, and Danny ‘s shirt gets damp. I can hear Steve’s voice in the background, as Danny pets my hair, and I feel more than hear Danny respond.
Once I start to calm down, Danny’s hands cup my cheeks, and peel my face from his shirt. "Sweetheart. What happened today?" His concerned voice flows over me, and I can see the adoration in his eyes.
"I-I just." I sigh, wanting to answer and explain my breakdown. Finally, I think of a starting point. "I know it hasn't been this bad in a while, but today was terrible. Everyone kept interrupting me and some of them were arguing with me over the same thing we've been going around for weeks about. I'm just tired, Danno." I steal Steve’s name for him, as per usual when I'm upset. "It just felt like they didn't care about me or my voice, and I started going down that path and it wouldn't stop. I couldn't do anything but think maybe I wasn't meant to be heard- I mean, I know I'm quiet and nonconfrontational. But my voice didn't matter today, and I felt so stupid for thinking maybe it did." I feel Steve’s chest rise with a sharp breath.
"Baby," Danny looks at him as Steve starts and I notice the tears welling in Danny’s eyes. "your voice always matters. Don't ever think it doesn't- we love listening to you. You are not stupid for thinking your voice matters. In fact, I don't ever want to hear you and stupid in the same sentence again, okay? As for people interrupting you, ignore them. They don't have the intelligence to realize they should listen to you."
Danny jumps in when Steve paused, "Honey, you are absolutely meant to be heard. We will always hear you. Like Steve said, your voice always matters. Next time this happens, call one of us, okay? Don't let the voices win. We'll fight them for you, but you have to tell us when. We don't care how busy we are," Steve rests his head on my shoulder and I feel him nod in agreement with the statement, "we will always listen to you." Once he finishes, he gently tugs me back into his chest, and I just sit there, in Steve’s lap with my head in Danny’s chest, his scent, once again, seeming to bring calm into my chaos. I can feel Danny playing lightly with my hair, and Steve wraps his hands around my waist.
"I know you're tired, baby, so I'm gonna put you in Danny ‘s lap, so I can cook dinner. We'll eat, and then cuddle in the bed, okay?" He softly asks, like he's afraid to break the quietness that seems to have settled over our living room. I nod and feel Danny’s chest rumble with chuckles. At my agreement, Steve picks me up and transfers me easily to Danny ‘s lap, and he just cradles me while we wait for Steve to finish cooking dinner.
THE END

Homecoming Surprise
Words: 675 Summary: You come home and decide to surprise your boyfriend. A/N: Sorry it’s been so long since the last story. I’m really struggling to write lately. I’m hoping it’ll get better soon. Also, I’m thinking about taking requests, let me know what you think..… Enjoy!
You look in Steve's office to see an empty desk, but you aren't surprised. You hadn't called to let him know you'd be stopping by, after all you'd wanted to surprise your boyfriend of 3 years. You check Danno's office, which was also empty. You surmise that they must be on a case, when the door to the 5-0 offices opens and Grover walks in. His eyes widen when he spots you standing next to the computer.
"YN. You're back!" He pulls you into a hug as soon as he reaches you.
"Hey, Lou." You greet with a smile, patting his back before stepping back.
"Danno and Steve are out working a case." Grover explains. "Do they know you're here?"
"I figured, and no, not yet. I wanted to surprise Steve." You shrug.
"When did you get back?" Grover asks, seeing how exhausted look.
"About two hours ago. Haven't even gone home to change." You respond, gesturing to your uniform.
"Well, I'm not sure how much longer the boys'll be out, so take a nap in Steve's office. I'll let him know you're there when they get here." He suggests.
"Thanks, Lou. I'd appreciate it." You answer, looking forward to a small nap, almost as much as seeing your boyfriend at this point. You hug Grover one more time before heading to the comfy looking couch in Steve's office.
Danno leads his partner towards their offices, "No, we can't do that without a warrant, Steve. We do have to follow some policies."
Steve shakes his head at him affectionately, "Yeah, but then we might lose the-"
"Boys, you mind keeping your little argument down?" Grover interrupts. He has a smile on his face, thinking about Steve's reaction to finding out you're home.
"What's up, Grover?" Steve asks his friend. Usually the man didn't care how loud they got.
"Buddy, you may want to go in your office to find out. There's someone there to see you." Grover shoots a "stay here" look at Danno.
Steve tilts his head in confusion before looking in his empty office before doing what Grover suggested. As he opens his door, he looks on his couch and stops. He turns back to Grover, eyebrows raised in surprised at the sleeping figure on his couch. Grover just nods in response. Steve strides over to you and sits back on his feet in front of you. He gently brushes some loose hair from your face. As you begin to stir, Steve's grinning face is the first thing you see.
"Surprise?" Your tired voice croaks.
"This is one of the best." He responds before helping you sit up and pulling you into his chest. "Did you come straight from the ship?"
"Yeah. Didn't wanna go home till I saw you, babe." You murmur, keeping your face in his chest. "How about we go home? The case will hold until tomorrow, it's five anyway." Steve suggests, wanting to get you home and relaxed.
"Let me say hi to Danno, then I'd like nothing more to go home, sit on the couch- not in uniform- and catch up on the things I've missed." Steve releases you from his hug but keeps ahold of your hand. Now that you're back, he doesn't plan on letting you go anytime soon. It'd been a long deployment for the both of you.
He tugs you out towards the two team members that had been watching your reunion, with smiles on their faces. “I am taking her home; we’ll pick this up tomorrow. It’s time for everyone to head out and refuel for tomorrow.” He keeps ahold of your hand as you make your way over to the man that’s like a brother to you. “Danno. It’s nice to see Steve hasn’t killed you yet.” You laugh and hug him in greeting. “Hey!” Steve objects from behind you.
“No kidding. Hopefully, he’ll relax a little with you being home.” He whispers in response, chuckling. “Now get him home and let him help you relax. You deserve it. Welcome home, YN.”

Abandoned Family
Words: 2569 Summary: Mac’s older sister, Aly, has news to be shared with the team, except one member already knows and supports her for it.
"Director Matilda Webber,
Effective immediately, I am handing in my resignation. I will finish out the current day of work, but will not be back tomorrow. I apologize for the late notice, but I can no longer work at the Phoenix Foundation. Please call with any further questions. I appreciate being given the chance to grow and meet challenges here. Thank you.
Yours, Aly."
Matty looked at the team she had read the note to. Confusion was written on all but one face. Matty made a mental note before moving on to dealing with the fallout.
Jack broke the trance first, "What? What does she mean, Matty?"
Mac looked heartbroken, and Matty wished she could soothe away his hurt, "That means she quit the Phoenix, guys."
"When?" Was the only work Riley stated.
"I found this note on my desk this morning when I came in."
"So, she'll be here, still?" Bozer's voice, as usual, was filled with optimism.
Jill stepped forward, "No, she came in at 3 this morning, and clocked out at 11. Aly worked her 8 hours, thus finished her work day."
Matty turned her attention to the only person who wasn’t shocked when she made the announcement. "Jill, how do you know this?"
Jill bit her lip nervously before responding. "You guys had each other, and she was a one-man team. She didn't have an overwatch, and Oversight didn't hesitate to give her the hardest missions, even with a team. You all never checked in with her, and she did everything she could to protect you as a team. When Oversight and the board needed a fall man, she did it. Every time. But you ignored her. She was so tired. This was a monumental decision for her. And of course, I encouraged it." The blonde slowly gained confidence and anger in her speech. "All you ever cared about was if the mission was completed. There were other agents," Jill shot a look at Jack, "that checked in with her, more than her own team did. So, when Aly received an offer from a different "think tank", and it came with a team of her own? Absolutely. I told her she should go. It's not like she couldn't retire now, anyways."
Matty blinked a few times, not used to seeing the normally easy-going blonde this angry. She also took a moment though, to absorb everything said in the lecture. "Okay. Do you know where she's at now?" She asked, looking at Jill, hoping that Jill would give up the intel and Matty could go talk to Aly.
"Yes, but no. I won't give up my friend, no- my sister- like that. Guys, you broke her. She gets some time to recuperate. Besides, Matty, she did say to call her with further questions. I wish you the best of luck." With that, Jill walked out of the War Room, before shuddering from the energy that was stocked in the room.
Aly was laying on her bed, rerunning the conversation with Jill.
Jill walked into the lab. Aly's holding a piece of paper and smiling, while reading it.
"Spill. How many times have you read that?" Aly doesn’t jump at Jill's intrusion, but rather hands the blonde the sheet. "Dear Aly MacGyver, we'd be honored to offer you a position here with us at the Medusa Initiative. Along with the standard benefits of black ops, we would also like to extend the offer of heading your own team of your choice." Jill looked up at her friend, excitement exploding like a massive firework. "Oh my god, Aly! That's awesome! What are you gonna do?"
Aly's smile droops, and she sighs, "I don't know, Jill. I agree. It's an amazing offer, but what about my team here? What are they gonna do without me?"
Jill sees exactly what's stopping the redhead. "Mac needs to stand on his own, without you helping from the shadows or clearing the way with Oversight for him. Maybe he and Jack both need to see what happens when you're not around to take the hits."
Aly looks at her with tears gathering, "I'm so tired of being checked on by the tactical teams more than them, Jill. I'm so tired of just completing mission after mission, with no reward, other than they get a reprieve and days off."
"Look at me, Aly. You deserve this. Do it, take the opportunity and see where it leads. If not for anyone else, or just you, then do it for me. Please. Besides, you might enjoy the Medusa Initiative more. The teams are all women, very few men are employed as agents. You deserve something better than what Phoenix is giving you. Take the job."
Aly nods, and sets the paper aside, while making a note to respond. Later that day, Aly calls the Medusa Initiative from the middle of the jungle in Cambodia, to tell them, she'll be taking every offer they gave her. She sets her mind to write a resignation when she gets back to the Phoenix.
Aly felt like a million weights had lifted off her chest after that, and she felt so free after meeting her new team, and new boss. She was ecstatic that what Mac had now, she would get at the Medusa.
Mac takes a breath before looking at the man who'd become a brother after a tour in hell together, and several years at DXS and Phoenix. "Jack, this can't be real. She wouldn't quit. Would she?"
Jack looks at Mac. As much as he wishes what Jane- Jill- had said wasn't true, he knows it is. He could've checked in with her more than he did.
Bozer speaks up from where he sat down, "Did she say anything to you?"
Mac and Jack shake their heads in response and Riley steps out beyond the door. She has Aly's number, as they had swapped digits when she was first hired due to something Aly had said.
Ring. Ring. "Hello?" Riley nearly sighs in relief at the answer on the line.
"Aly." Relief floods her voice. "I'm so glad you picked up."
"Hey, Riles. Is everything okay?"
"Not really- you quit. But, that's not the reason I called."
"What's up?" "You said something to me when I was first hired with the Phoenix. You said not every war is a battle against others, and not every prison is a cage with steel bars."
"Huh. I was wondering when you'd ask me about that."
"Did you mean as an agent?" Curiosity courses through Riley's veins.
"Let's meet for coffee or something."
"Okay. When and where?"
Aly's knee bounces as she waits for her former teammate to enter the cozy coffeehouse. Her nerves feel jumbled, and she doesn’t think the coffee is helping. Finally, she watched the brunette walk through the doors. Aly stands up to grab Riley's attention. As soon as Riley reaches the table, they both sit down.
"Okay, so you wouldn't tell me over the phone..." Riley trails off.
"Yeah, sorry about that." Riley just shrugs and Aly continues, "Not every war is a battle against another, and not every prison is a cage with steel bars." Aly sighs, "The human mind is amazing. The things we ask it to do, and it completes it every time without fail. But sometimes, it can also be the most daunting thing, especially certain things it remembers. As a covert agent, we learn to keep things, like murder, on the down low. As a human, it scars our mind to see a dead body. As a soldier, we see people, our enemies, our friends, in ways that would scar a civilian. As a person, we see someone like us being killed and you either replay it with survivor's guilt or you wonder what life would be like if that had been you. The curiosity will tear you apart from the inside." Aly runs her finger around the rim of her coffee cup. "Sometimes, the memories, they keep you from what you need. They become your prison. You can't look at a neighbor wearing a jacket without wondering what's under it, then having to fight to remember that you are at home. You aren't half-way across the world, wondering. You aren't there. You are here. You're home. You are in the US. That war, isn't one you fight against anyone else.... It's one you fight here," Aly taps her temple, "and it's against yourself. The prison, it isn't physical, it's the memories. The ones that tear you apart, the good ones that make you wonder if you'll ever be like you were at that point in time. Not every war is a battle against another, and not every prison is cage with steel bars."
Riley takes a deep breath. As much as she wishes she didn't, she knows exactly what Aly is talking about from her time in prison.
"I understand. I may not know what a soldier suffers through, but I do know what an inmate suffers through." Aly just nods and a few moments pass with both deep in thought. "To lighten the mood. Did I hear correctly that you've gotten a new job?" The redhead smiles, "Yeah. It's with the Medusa Initiative."
"Wow, really? Aren't they super exclusive?" Riley tilts her head.
"Sort of. Most of their field agents are women. But they also have a higher success rate than that of Phoenix. I think it's a good opportunity." "I agree. It's gonna suck having one less woman at Phoenix though."
"Sorry. I just.... I think the move will be good for me anyway. You have your team. I've never had anyone. Now I'll have my own team."
"Though it may be too little, too late, I want to let you know, I'm so sorry, Aly. I could've checked in with you. Seen how things were going. I'm sorry."
"Thank you, Riles. I appreciate it." The two girls hang out in the coffee shop for a bit longer before Riley needs to leave.
"Apparently I have a mission." Riley begins to stand from the table and Aly stands as well.
"I mean the second thing I ever told you, Riles. I will always be around to talk to, if you need to."
"Okay, thank you." The brunette begins her journey to the War Room.
As Aly makes her way home, her phone rings.
"Jill? What's up?"
"Just wanted to give you a head's up, I think the boys were on their way to see you. Are you at home?" "Not yet." Aly stops walking. "I think maybe I need another cup of coffee. Wanna join?" Aly asks her friend.
"Of course. Like I'd ever turn down hanging out with you."
"I can't tell you how much I appreciate our friendship, Jill."
"Eh, don't worry about it, Al. I've always got your back. See you at the coffee house." Jill and Aly hang up, and Aly begins strolling back to the coffee house. She makes it two steps before something hard hits her head, and her vision quickly goes dark.
Jack pulls up outside Aly's house, and shuts his car off. He'd left Mac and Bozer at home, as he wants to try this with just him first. He's definitely going to apologize, and he's hoping it'll feel less like an ambush with just him here to talk to her. He walks up to the brick building and knocks. Jack steps back, waiting for an answer. He looks around, before knocking again. As he checks his watch, he realizes either she isn't home, or she doesn't want to talk. As he makes his way to his car, Jack shoots Matty a text asking if Riley made it to the War Room. When he receives an affirmative, Jack wonders if Aly is actively avoiding the team. He begins to wonder if she's had help avoiding them, as they haven't seen her in the building in the last week. He peels away from the curb, heading back to Mac's, where he left the other two boys.
As Jack parks in the driveway, Mac and Boze are already on their way to him, curious looks on their faces.
"That was fast. Is everything okay?" Asks Bozer.
"She wasn't home. Kinda hard to apologize to someone who ain't there, hoss." Jack looks at him.
"She's avoiding us, then." Mac observes, hurt in his tone. As much as Jack wants to take it away, he knows he can't do anything.
"Yeah, brother. I'm sorry." Jack apologizes, heartbroken for Mac, and still upset at Aly's news. But before too long, all their phones ding with a text from Matty letting them know they're needed in the War Room for a mission.
When Aly finally gets home from coffee with Jill, she can see the note on her door. "Jack's been here." She says to herself, glad she joined the blonde for coffee.
"Aly,
Mac, Boze, and I would really like to talk. Please call, or text.
Jack"
"Well, that's definitely to the point. Way to pull your punches, Dalton." She mutters to herself. She can't help but wonder what the boys want, if they gonna try to drag her back to Phoenix. But she comes to the conclusion as she sits herself on the couch, that they can try but if they do, she'll cut them out of her life. After all, Jill had a point, Aly needs to do what's best for herself and stop worrying about everyone else.
As Matty debriefs her team on their latest mission, she can see the curious looks they share. When she finishes handing them the pertinent information, she asks, "What's going on, guys?"
They share a look, and Bozer answers, "We don't usually get this type of mission. It's a simple meeting. Why us? We've never had to do this before. And why all three? Can't this be done with one?" Matty sighs. "To answer the first question, you are being assigned to this mission because the person who usually is assigned no longer works here." She sees realization dawn on them, " and to answer the second, because of the location, I need at least one lookout and one TAC member in addition to the person completing the meeting. When Aly'd go, I'd just send two TAC members, or if I didn't have any, I was ordered to send her alone." Matty grimaces at the admission.
Jack tilts his head at his boss, "You're telling me, Aly might've done this by herself? That ain't right, Webber."
Matty flinches at Jack's call out. "I know. It's not like I always had a choice, Dalton. Now, get going." Her voice hardens with the order for her team. They get up from where they're sitting, and head out the door. Matty deflates when the last one leaves, her admission hurt. She wishes Oversight would've been easier on his kids. Not leaving them, not manipulating them. But she's glad Aly pulled something he never saw coming. So glad. She's getting retribution without knowing, and if she'd had a chance, she'd have told Aly to hand her notice to Oversight himself, so she could know who he was. But, maybe it's better, Matty wonders, if she never knows her father got her where she was. Of course, she'll help Mac figure it out. She won't let Mac quit without knowing first.
The End
Let me know what you think. I thrive off of feedback, even the negative. I appreciate it!

Brothers In Arms: Pt 2
Words: 2375 Part 1
Magnum bends over, his ribs aching from the swim. Once he manages to get the pain under control, he stands back up and looks at the man still handcuffed to him. "What next?" He looks around, but there is nothing in sight. He doesn’t understand why these men just jumped into the ocean and dragged him onto this uninhabitable island. Kaho'olawe. With the amount of unexploded ordinance on this island, this trip was going to be interesting.
"Now, we load onto the ATVs stashed a mile in, and we get what we brought you along for." Great, just like Hannah's gold all over again. At least this time he was on land. Despite injuries, Magnum made it to the men's ATVs. Black shirt unlocked the handcuff on Green shirt's wrist and moved it to Magnum's open wrist. "You do anything stupid, like try to jump off the ATV, and he'll," Black shirt nodded at Buzz Cut," shoot you. We might need you for obtaining our treasure, but afterwards? Not so much, SEAL. Now get on with Jack, here." Ah, so Jack was the man in the green shirt.
Thomas nods. "You got it. Causing no trouble."
"Good." With that, they started up their ATVs and headed into the trees. While riding, Thomas couldn't help but hope his brothers were doing okay. He was planning on doing everything he could to get back to them. At least they weren't here. Before he knew it, the ATVs were rumbling to a stop. He looked around for a landmark to help identify where they were on the island. Unfortunately, it seemed they were nestled between two ridges. The only thing he could positively identify is the distance from the ocean, roughly a klick. They were stopped on the hill and he recognized one of the nearby gulches swimming in. Black shirt crawled off his ATV and picked his way over to Magnum. "Here we are." Buzz Cut lifted his gun out of the holster to a resting position. As Black shirt undid his cuffs, Magnum held his hands up. "Your objective is to retrieve this box." Black Shirt pulled up a picture on his phone to show the box, then slid right to reveal a map. "It's about 165 yards off this trail to the right. You bring that back to us, and we'll take you back to Oahu and you can go home safe and sound. Understood?"
"Can I know what is in there?" Thomas asks, more out of curiosity than anything else.
"No. You find out, and we'll leave you here."
"Okay, okay. No looking in the box, grab it, bring it back to you, and I go home safe. How long do I get?"
"We'll be generous and give you 30 minutes."
Thomas nodded and started towards the direction Black Shirt had given him. Since they weren't going to follow him in, he knew he was gonna look in the box despite their warning. They had kidnapped him, he wasn't going to do whatever they wanted simply because they promised him safe passage home.
About 10 minutes of carefully picking his path while looking for explosive ordinance, and he finally noticed a wooden box, that almost resembled his footlocker at home. He knelt down in front of it, and cautiously opened the box.
"Holy-" He cut himself off. Rough estimate, there was a million dollars in this box. There was absolutely no way he was taking this back to them. They could use the money to disappear or worse. But, they know where it is. "Screw this, guess I'm not going home." He picks it up, and travels farther into the trees. All this moving is exasperating his injuries but now, he has no choice but to push through the pain. He carries it a couple hundred yards before realizing that if he's careful, he can deposit it on the island and get back to the boat before the kidnappers. They'd be left here with no way off. Mind made up, he puts the box down and covers it loosely with some dirt. He then spots the beach they arrived on and quickly, yet carefully makes his way towards it.
Magnum is breathing hard by the time he makes it to the beach, and his ribs are twinging with every breath. He looks back to see if the men have made it down here yet, but doesn’t quite hear them. Deciding to not wait to see where they're at, he runs into the water to start heading for the boat that's anchored about half a mile from the shore.
Rick is steadily pacing, as well as Higgins, TC, and Kumu. His phone rings.
"It's an unknown number." Kumu shoots him a look.
"Well? Answer it." She looks back to the phone. He taps the answer button and puts it on speaker.
"Rick Wright."
"Rick." Thomas' voice comes over the line. "Good to hear your voice."
"Brother, it's good to hear yours. Where are you at?" TC speaks up.
"Currently, I'm sitting on a Coast Guard Vessel about 40 klicks from Lanai Lookout."
Everyone looks at the phone. "Thomas. Why are you with the Coast Guard?" Higgins asks.
"Um. Long story. Please tell Katsumoto he can call off the search though." He doesn’t think Higgins or Kumu can hear the pain in Tommy's voice but by the slight flinch TC gives off, Rick knows he can hear it too.
"Brother, Katsumoto doesn’t have the case anymore. Five-O took it." "Okay," Usually, Thomas would crack a joke about Steve, but when he doesn't make it, Rick knows either the pain is really bad, or Magnum's brain is running away. "Would you please let him know he can call off the search dogs?"
"Of course. What can we do?" Kumu asks again.
"N-nothing at the moment." Both TC and Rick catch the stutter from the pain. "I'll have someone drop me off at the Nest when I'm finished giving my statement." Rick catches the unsaid and after I get checked out. Not for the first time since the call, Rick wonders how bad shape Magnum is in, especially to get checked out.
"We'll see you when you get here, man." TC states with fondness. The line goes dead pretty quickly after that. Rick looks at his friend. "Orville, we'd better get things ready." Rick agrees. Higgins looks between the two men.
"What does that mean?" she questions.
A look passes between the two men. "Ladies, it may not be best for you to be around when he gets back."
Kumu reads between the lines and agrees. Higgins still wants the information, so she waits until the older lady leaves before asking again.
"Higgy, look you know you're part of our little family, but Magnum is gonna be fighting some demons when he gets back. Trust us, as much as you want to be here, it might be better if you weren't. It's gonna get pretty dark. You think the Hannah issue was bad? This is gonna be worse." Rick looks at TC, a wordless conversation passing between the two. "But, if you want, you can stay until he gets here."
"I can work with that. Thank you, gents." She accepts.
My fault. My fault. Stop, please. Please. No. Don't touch them. No. I will do whatever you want. Just please don't touch them. It’s my fault. I am sorry. So sorry. The words spin and rattle in Magnum's head.
"Lieutenant Magnum, I'm Master Chief Smith. Commander Steve McGarrett is picking you up from the dock to take you home as well as take your statement. Paramedics are also waiting to check you out." Magnum nodded at the woman who gave him the information.
"Thank you, ma'am." "Of course, Lieutenant." He tugs his arm a little closer to his side as they hit a wave that hurts.
When they finally arrive back at the port, Magnum makes his way over to the paramedics, who inform him that he probably has a couple broken ribs, a dislocated shoulder, and to monitor the small nicks and cuts for any sign of infection. His next stop is the black Camaro parked two spaces over.
"Hey, Steve." "Thomas. You sure know how to take a few years off a man's life." The SEAL grins, relieved to see his comrade alive.
"Yeah, I've had some time to perfect my technique since I saw you last."
"Hello." Danny speaks up from behind his partner.
"Detective Williams." Magnum greets respectfully.
"Hey, Danny works for me. Nice to meet you Lieutenant Magnum."
"Please, just Thomas."
"Wanna walk us through what happened?" Steve chimes in again.
"I was driving, on my way to see a prospective client, when an SUV pulled in front of me. I slowed down, and couldn't pass it, but it stopped. Three men climbed out, one with a Glock 9mil, the other two with ARs. They had me climb into their vehicle. One of them punched me and the next thing I know, I'm waking up in an abandoned warehouse. They pushed me around a bit, questioned me about the Rosalita."
"Questioned how?" Danny asks, and glares at the look his partner shot him.
"Pushed around, knocked around." Magnum keeps the answers vague. Danny nods in response, sensing Magnum's reluctance to talk about it.
"They didn't like the way I phrased some of my responses, so they cracked a couple ribs. We were there for about 3 or 4 hours. After that, they got me back into the SUV and we drove to a dock. We loaded into that boat and drove over to just off Kaho'olawe. There was a box full of money they wanted me to retrieve. Unfortunately, once I saw it, I took off in their boat."
Steve nearly jerks backward, only his training keeping him from moving. Kaho'olawe was known, well known even, for being covered in unexploded ordinance.
"I know how you feel about your clients, Magnum. But I gotta ask, is it possible they were targeting you?" Steve asked.
"Possibly. I'd hate to put a client in that position, but it's very possible that they set me up. All one would have to do to find my past is search my name on Google." Magnum looks at his friend. "After our escape, we were very... well-known. We even did a press conference. "
Danno looked thoughtful at this new avenue of information, "I think we have all we need. Steve?" He turns to his partner.
"I think you're right, brah. Magnum, we'll keep you updated and informed of any new information. Just don't do anything stupid." The man in question simply nods in response, more than happy to just go home and see his brothers.
As Steve pulls into the Nest, he sees some of the blinds in the guesthouse fluttered, and knows Magnum's friends were waiting on him. Once he has the car in park, he turns to the SEAL in the backseat. "We're here. Seems like TC and Rick are waiting."
"Yeah." Thomas takes a second to shore up against his nerves. The words my fault have yet to leave his head. He knew TC and Rick would help him get rid of the words, but he feels like he deserves the pain they cause. He opens the Camaro door, and thank Steve and Danno for the ride. He knows he is stalling, but he isn't sure he wanted to go in, to have his burden alleviated. It feels like it's his burden to bear, not something he deserves help with. He listens to the car tires crunching gravel as he makes his way to his home.
As soon as Thomas walks in the door, Rick and TC jump up off the couch to greet him. As they walk up to him, Magnum nods, letting them know it was okay to hug him, something they hadn't done since their time in hell. They pull him between them and fold him into a hug, where he sags, happy to be home and relieved that he made it.
Rick is ecstatic his brother has made it back to them, but he can see the torment in Tommy's eyes. A look that he's seen very little since they made it back from Afghanistan, one that was present when Nuzo died, and when Higgins got injured helping them solve a case. Dread sinks like a pit in Rick's stomach at that look, and he shoots a glance at TC, hoping the other man had seen it. When TC barely moves his head, Rick knows the pilot had seen the same thing he had. "You're here, you're okay." Rick starts to murmur, knowing Magnum is fighting not to visit a flashback. "This isn't your fault." Those words are going to make an appearance at some point today, so it's best to get a jump on fighting those thoughts off.
Juliet had stuck to her word and as soon Magnum had walked through the door, she'd been gone. But now that she was sitting in her study, she was horrified. His shoulder was a lovely shade of bruising, and the way he was walking- well, she knows that walk well. His ribs were, at the least, cracked, if not broken. But, the thing about him that scared her the most was his look of fear, and self-recrimination. Like he was blaming himself for the entire situation. Which, knowing him, she reasoned, is probably very true at the moment. Now she understands why Rick hadn't wanted her and Kumu there when he arrived. He looked miserable. Hopefully his brothers can help pull him out of the pit he's digging himself, and quickly.
TC knows it's gonna be a long evening, when Rick murmurs that it's not Tommy's fault, and he flinches at the words as if fighting their effect on him. Both uninjured men guide Magnum to the couch, and help him gingerly sit. They take their place on either side of him and put gently pressure on his arms, cognizant of the damage done to his shoulder and the extensive bruising coloring it. It's not the first time they've helped him heal this way, it's probably not the last. Unfortunately, TC thinks.
The End (for all)
Thanks to those who read this! I appreciate it. Let me know what you think, even if you think it sucked. I feed off the comments! Thank you!

Coming Home
Words: 1062
Summary: Mac debriefs while his girlfriend surprises him.
Mac wanted to finish the last case's debrief, as his girlfriend was supposed to call tonight. Emmy had been deployed for three years with another still left in her tour. He decided that, come 1700 hours, whether they finished the debrief or not, he was going home to take her call. It had been a hard two months since their last call with her team being MIA for two weeks, then non-stop missions once they were cleared. Mac hadn't had a break on his end either, Oversight had really been feeling his power, as they'd had back to back missions for the last month and a half. Mac was half-convinced Jack was itching to go a few rounds with the man, as he had broken more than one punching bag.
When Mac arrived in the War Room, it's chaos. Jill was running out, Matty barking orders, Bozer looked terrified, and Riley was quickly typing on her computer while relaying info to Matty. He stepped just inside the room and to his left, so he wasn't in the way, knowing Matty would start the debrief as soon as she could. The chaos continued, and bullets fly on the video feed, until suddenly everything stops on screen and the TAC team completed the mission a few minutes later. Thankfully no injuries on Phoenix's team.
Matty turns, having seen Mac enter earlier, and instructed Riley to pull up mission reports. "Walk us through what happened, Mac."
"We landed in Horki, then drove to Katsyalyova in a vehicle we obtained."
42 hours earlier: Katsyalyova, Belarus
Mac drove to an address given over comms, by Riley.
"Brother, I don't like the look of this place." Jack commented on the shabby, nearly falling apart building in front of them.
"Neither do I, but apparently, this is a simple retrieval. Just need to get the thumb drive from a computer in there." As soon as he climbed out of the vehicle, Jack was pulling his weapon. Mac followed him up to the door, then watched as Jack kicked it in. The inside was a lot more taken care of than outside. There wasn't a speck of dust, and the bed was made up. The outside was not deceptive, size-wise, at all; Mac could stand in the kitchen and be, at most, fifteen steps from the bed. Thankfully, there was a computer on the table, with a USB in the side. Mac shook the mouse, and the computer began counting.
3-
"Jack, run!" Mac shouted,
2-
as he grabbed the stick from the computer,
1-
and tore out of the house, behind his partner.
Mac barely made it to the door, before the computer blew up. The subsequent explosion lifted Mac up and forward onto his face, not so gently. Once he felt the heat dissipate slightly, Mac clambered to his feet, and wiped the dust off his knees, while trying to not fall on his face again. The explosion had knocked Mac's equilibrium off kilter. He looked at his partner, and ignoring the ringing in his ears, limped over to him. Jack gripped Mac's elbow to balance the kid and tapped on his arm.
Tap, tap and hold, tap. Tap, tap, tap and hold. Tap and hold, tap and hold, tap and hold. Tap and hold, tap, tap and hold. (Are you okay?)
"I'm fine... I think. Nothing's broken." Mac answered to his partner's unspoken question.
Tap and hold, tap, tap and hold, tap. Tap, tap and hold. Tap, tap and hold, tap.
(Car.)
Mac nodded, the move sending sharp spikes through his head. He reached the hand Jack doesn't have up to his head, hoping the pressure will help keep it steady. As Jack assisted Mac into the SUV, Mac noticed Jack seemed okay. He asks Jack, "you okay?"
Jack nodded in response to his friend's question. After he got his partner buckled in, Jack walked around to the front of the car, and climbed in. Once in, he pulled his phone out, and dialed Matty as he started the car.
"Dalton, sit-rep." came Matty's demanding voice over the speaker.
"Mac retrieved the drive, but they were prepared,. As soon he went to make sure the drive was safe to remove as to not corrupt the data, it started a countdown. I got clear, but Mac was slightly less fortunate. He got caught in the blast wave and thrown to the ground. His balance is off, and I think his ears are ringing, as I ended up tapping my questions on his arm to get answers."
"Get Blondie home safe, Jack." Matty's voice took on the maternal lilt it had when referring to Mac. "I've got a TAC team en route to a location for standby until we have the information off that drive. I'll text you the exfil coordinates. See you in 24 hours, guys."
"See ya, Matty!" Jack ended the call, clicked on the coordinates Matty had given him. One he got the directions, he hit the gas. They'd had enough missions go wrong in this country. If they weren't careful, this'd be the new Cairo.
Current Day: War Room, The Phoenix Foundation, Somewhere in the City of Angels
"And we had no problems getting to exfil. Anything else?" Mac asked, his patience wearing thin.
"Yeah, did you ever stop by medical after that?" came a familiar voice, and Mac turned in surprise. "Lieutenant Emily Yushin reporting for duty." She saluted.
"Emmy! You made it!" He nearly tipped the chair getting out of it to hug his girlfriend. He stood there, arms around her, ecstatic to have her home, and breathing her in, while the group just chuckled.
Finally, he pulled away, but didn't leave her side. "When did you get back?" he asked.
"An hour ago. I forgot what a complete nightmare LA traffic is." He noticed her fatigues.
"Babe, you must be exhausted. I told you I would pick you up." Mac tilted his head, and stated.
"I wanted to surprise my boyfriend. And his boss was able to get me on an earlier flight to help me with my mission." She whispered the last part conspiratorially, while grinning.
"Well, I'm glad you're home. But let's get you all the way home, sweetheart, so you don't pass out on me."
"Haha." Emmy deadpanned. "Home." She sighed wistfully, more than happy to finally be home.

Brothers In Arms: Pt. 1
Words: 1833
(Part 2)
Rick looks at TC. Something in his gut is telling him to check in on Thomas. He pulls out his cell phone and dials the man's phone number. He listens to it ring once before going straight to voicemail. Not again. He waves at TC to grab the man's attention. As TC heads his way, Rick dials Juliet's number. "This is Juliet Higgins."
"Higgy, it's Rick. Hey, is Magnum there?"
"No, I haven't seen him since he left last night."
"If you do see him, call me please?" "Of course, is everything alright?" Concern drips in her voice.
"Not sure. Thanks." He hangs up and looks at TC.
"Yo, everything alright?" The taller man asks his friend.
"I don't think so. My gut is saying we need to find Tommy. But he hasn't been to the Nest since he left last night."
"Where would Magnum have gone?"
The boat rocks back and forth, and while that would normally calm him down, it drives the fear deeper into Magnum's heart. The tape on his mouth is sticky, and he can taste the blood in his mouth from when the man in the green shirt punched him for being mouthy. The ties on his wrists aren't quite cutting off his blood circulation, but he's definitely not getting out of them any time soon. His tan Hawaiian shirt is stuck to his skin from the blood that is dried on it. The one thing that does bring Magnum some relief is the fact that his feet aren't tied together. He wonders, not for the first time since they've started this trip, where these three men are taking him. Finally, the boat begins to slow down. He looks around and realizes there isn't any land in sight. One of the men walks down to the lower deck and starts lowering the ladder into the water. Thankfully, it isn't the man who punched Magnum earlier. However, it does bring a sense of deja-vu, and Magnum wonders what he was brought along on this little trip for.
TC's phone rings. "Katsumoto?" He questions in lieu of a greeting.
"TC. Glad I caught you. Hey, have you seen Magnum recently?"
"No, but Rick and I have been trying to track him down all morning. Why?" TC suddenly gets a terrible feeling.
"His car is currently being processed by CSU." "What?"
"A patrol car was driving down Kapaa Quarry Road, and they found his vehicle on the side of the road, door wide open. When they stopped to see what was going on, there was blood in the vehicle."
Shit. "Okay. What do you want us to do?"
"Make a list of Magnum's enemies. We need to figure who could've done this."
"Yeah, but like we said last time he went missing, he's a private investigator. He makes a lot of enemies. But... Do you find it strange that, so far, the only difference between this time and last, is who found the car?"
"Yeah. But we will follow every lead we get. Okay? Don't be like Magnum. HPD has this covered."
TC nods before remembering Katsumoto couldn't see him, "Alright." As he hangs up, TC looks over at Rick. Fear for his brother rages in his eyes. "A patrol car found TM's car earlier. CSU is processing."
"Okay. So, Katsumoto wants us to create a list of his enemies?"
"Rick." TC calls the man's name to gain his attention. Rick spins around to look at the taller man. "There was blood in the car."
Juliet watches from her desk as Rick and TC pull onto the estate in the direction of the guesthouse. Curiosity rings through her. She wonders why they are here, at Magnum's residence, when they called earlier looking for him. She glances around for Zeus and Apollo and spots them lying at the door, ears perked from hearing TC's van rumbling in the driveway.
"Come along, lads." She calls to the canines, who jump up and trot to her side. Juliet heads for the men who, on any other day, would be visiting their brother, but seem to have a different agenda on their mind today. She watches TC and Rick both dig out their cell phones from their pockets.
"Hello, gents. Fancy seeing you here." She raises an eyebrow in question.
"Higgy!" Rick greets. "We're just here to visit Magnum." Jules watches the silent man behind Rick minutely flinch. If she hadn't been looking for it, she would've completely missed it.
"Oh. But you called earlier, and he still isn't back. Is there something else going on?" She knows Rick is lying to her but wants to see if he'll confess.
"That's a bummer, man." Rick turns to TC. "Should we wait for him?"
"You know what? I think we should." TC joins in the game.
"You didn't answer the question, gentlemen." It's a game Juliet no longer wants to play.
"What question was that? I didn't hear a question." Rick states, face drawn. "Is there something going on?" Juliet knows her annoyance is on her face. She's never had to hide her true feelings for these boys so far, and she wasn't about to start.
Rick relents. "Katsumoto called TC a bit ago. The Ferrari was found out on Kapaa Quarry Road. HPD found blood inside." His voice was grim delivering the news and the fear between the three for their injured friend was nearly palpable.
"What can I do to assist?"
A look passed between the two men that Higgins didn't want to even try to decipher before TC answered. "You can help us create a list of enemies. Again." His last word passed as a sigh. For being a PI, and former military, their friend sure did get into a lot of binds.
"Of course." She released the dogs to wander the property before joining the men in their trip to the guesthouse.
Magnum swims, handcuffed to the man in the green shirt, hoping for a chance to attempt what, so far, has been impossible.
Green shirt yanks on the link connecting them, "Hurry up."
"I'm going, but these ribs are killer." Magnum can't help but sass.
"Maybe Mr. SEAL should've thought about that before mouthing off earlier." Black shirt speaks up from behind Magnum. Thomas nearly stops at the mention of his last occupation. Only his training keeps him from physically displaying the shock.
"Woah... He actually speaks." Magnum figures they won't do anything while in the water, especially with him handcuffed to one.
"Get moving." The one up front, Buzz Cut, calls. And this finally shuts Magnum up, because the tone offers no argument. As much as he wants to stop and tread for a moment, Magnum kicks one foot then another, through the twinge in his ribs. The saltwater definitely doesn't help the pain from the cuts.
A few hours later, the three have a list that was quite long. Rick volunteers to call Katsumoto with the list and for any other information.
Ring. Ring.
"This is Detective Katsumoto."
"Detective, this is Rick Wright. I have that list for you about Magnum's case."
"As much as I appreciate that, I am no longer leading detective on that case."
"Okay. Who is?" Rick's curiosity is piqued.
"Five-O. As soon as they got wind of it. It was snatched off my desk onto theirs."
"Thanks Katsumoto."
The line goes dead and Higgins questions, "Why would Five-O want this case? It's not high-profile or political."
A look of comprehension passes over TC's face. "Is Commander McGarrett still in charge of the taskforce?" "I believe so, why?" "Oh boy." Rick drags the words out. "Commander McGarrett and Magnum are good friends. Suffice to say, they saved each other's asses a few times."
TC shoots Rick a humorous look, "A few times?"
"Okay.... a lot. Even Nuzo got a kick out of how many times they've rescued each other. Both are troublemakers beyond belief." TC makes a sound of agreement.
"Okay. So McGarrett finds out Magnum's in trouble and wants to help?" "Let's just say McGarrett feels he owes Magnum a few favors. And Magnum insists he doesn't." Rick leans over to TC, "I'm not even sure who owes who at this point."
"I think they're about even." TC murmurs back. Juliet raises her eyebrows in shock.
Steve looks at his partner. "Steve. I love you brother, but why did we just grab a case? Not to be heartless, but it just seems like a kidnapping. HPD deals with this all time. "
"Look at the name, man." "A P.I. named Thomas Magnum. I'm still failing to make the connection."
"He was a SEAL."
"And this is some sort of brotherhood thing? Sorry brother, there needs to be more explanation." Danny reads the rest of the case information. "I was going to, but you interrupted. He is a friend. We saved each other's asses more times than I could count."
"Gotcha. What else do we know?" Out of respect for the missing man's sacrifice, Danno jumps into detective mode.
"His friends are creating a list of enemies..."
"Which he is bound to have a long one, seeing that he's a private investigator."
"Yeah. He's also the security consultant for Robin Masters."
"The Robin Masters? As in White Knight?"
"Yeah, that's him." Steve was almost surprised at Danno's knowledge of the famous author.
"Okay. So, we know he was taken, probably by force, based on the blood. What about ransom calls? And why not take the car?" Danny fires off the questions as he thinks of them.
Rick's phone rings as Juliet finally sits on Magnum's couch. He puts it on speaker after answering. "Hello?"
"Rick Wright, this is Steve McGarrett with Five-O. I am currently standing at the gate with my partner, Danny Williams. Would you mind letting us in so we can chat?"
"McGarrett, it's good to hear from you... Maybe not under these specific circumstances, but we're glad you made it out, man." TC speaks up.
"Of course, we'll let you in." Rick gives the two men the code for the gate and then waits in anxious silence for them to enter Magnum's residence.
Knock, knock. "It's McGarrett." Steve calls out as he and Danny enter the home, not wanting to surprise the two former soldiers inside. "Rick, TC. Man, you guys are looking good."
"Just out of curiosity," TC smirked, "what is it with SEALs retiring into law enforcement?" McGarrett laughs in response.
"They don't know how not to be insane." Danny turns to his partner with a raised eyebrow, as if daring Steve to find a valid argument. Steve holds his hands up in surrender.
"I can't argue that one." TC agrees.
"You have that list for us?" Steve finally directs the conversation. Rick nods and looks at Higgins.
"Here it is." She hands it to Steve, and her thoughts turn to Magnum. She wonders if he's okay, and if he's trying to find a way to get back to them.
The End (for now?)

Thank You
AN: This is something I've had in the works for a while, but I am not sure how I feel about it. Please let me know what you think.
Words: 821
10...
I always thought the last thing I'd think about was how much I regret leaving Jack behind. He may not realize it, but in the stormy seas of life, he was my anchor, holding me still against the angry waters. He always said, "you go kaboom, I go kaboom." But now, as I sit here, with this thing in my hands, I am so glad it's not coming true. I'm glad he won't hear about it for a couple of days. He can live his life in bliss for a little bit longer.
9...
I hope Desi realizes she is a bigger part of our team than she wanted to be. I hope Riley will continue to draw her in, and help her realize this isn't her fault. I wonder if she'll continue to stick around for Riley and Boze. Desi was wonderful, and damn good at her job. I hope someone tells her, just to remind her that we fight for those moments, to defend them, to protect them. I hope someone'll have her back the way she's had ours. Even if it was unconventional. Stupid yellow tags.
8...
I wish Cage would've stayed with us longer. I wish Murdoc would've left her alone. Why wasn't I enough to keep his attention away from my team? Cage was amazing. I hope she doesn't come back. She deserves to be away from us. Away from the dangers that this job never ceases to supply. She can do so much better.
7...
Leanna will make it through this, maybe scarred, but she will. Between her and Bozer, she will be stronger for this because she has to be. She'll hold her hand to the fire, if only to keep it from taking her beau. She will push him to be better, to heal from this. She will be his motivation.
6...
I hope Riley sees that Jack will always be happy, no matter where he is in her life, just so long as he's there. I wonder if she realizes just how fortunate she is to have Jack as her dad, and Bozer as her brother. Hopefully, she'll draw Leanna in and make her part of their family. Maybe Jack will eventually get over me and see that he has some wonderful adopted kids.
5...
Matty is a wonderful boss (even when she terrifies me). I wonder if Jack will see her suffering and working herself to the bone. I wonder if any of the team will see the way she works constantly to avoid putting us in an unnecessarily risky situation. I wonder if she'll continue working at the Phoenix after I'm gone. Matty was more maternal in the background than any of us ever knew. I wonder if she'll still be like that after today.
4...
I wish I could've done more for Bozer. He deserved so much more than this. I know he told me he doesn't blame me for not being there when he nearly got blown up, but I still feel guilty. I wish I could tell him he's damn good at what he does. As selfish as it is, I wish I could be there when he finally retires. He's only gonna do better.
3...
Thank you, Riles, for being my sister when I never had siblings. Thank you for believing in me when I struggled. Thank you for being concerned with my welfare, when it was the farthest thing from my mind. Thank you for watching over our team, our family. Thank you for allowing Jack to believe the best in you, even when he broke your heart.
2...
Thank you, Bozer. Thank you for being my brother in everything but blood. Thank you for the treehouse, and the memories that followed. Thank you for pushing to remain my friend when I was convinced I wasn't worthy of someone's love. Thank you for allowing Jack to come into your life, and adjusting to him, rather than insisting you were my only friend. Thank you for following me blindly, even when I wasn't deserving of it.
1...
Jack, will you forgive me? Will you forgive the fact I left this planet without you? Will you forgive me for not being strong enough to stay and fight even though I tried. And I tried so hard to stay. Will you ever figure out that you were the best Overwatch, and the best dad I could've asked for? Will you stop wondering how far you can go before you cross a line on the subject of paternity? Thanks for being my Overwatch, though I left you behind way too often. Thank you for stepping in as a friend, when Bozer couldn't be around. Thank you for stepping in as a brother when I needed back-up. Jack, thank you for being my dad. Not my father, but my dad. Thank you for filling that role when he wouldn't.
The End

A Date at Sea
Words: 895
Summary: @hawaiianohana15 requested a romantic day at sea with Steve. Hope you enjoy!!!!
Steve stands behind the wheel. He is ecstatic that there hadn’t been a case this morning as he hasn’t been able to spend much time with you due to most of their recent cases running back to back.
You sit at the back of the boat, watching Steve’s short hair flutter around on his head because of the wind. You feel like you’re buzzing from the excitement coursing through you. Finally, you feel the boat even out and you know Steve is slowing down. Once the boat is stopped, Steve makes his way over to you, while the boat rocks gently with the waves. He grabs the cooler from under the bench seat at the back and retrieves two bottles of soda. He offers you one and you undo the cap and take a sip of the carbonated beverage. He undoes his cap and picks up a fishing pole from next to the empty seat beside you.
As much as Steve can’t wait to see what you think of today’s plans, he wants to surprise you even more. He hopes he can catch some nice fish today, as that would definitely help tonight’s plans, but even if he doesn’t, Steve has a back-up plan in place. As soon as he finishes baiting the hook, Steve casts the line off the side of the boat. You lean back, content in the seat just left of where he’s fishing, and Steve takes a moment to just enjoy your contentment. He smirks and turns his attention back to the line.
You bite your lip as you watch Steve’s muscles work to cast the rod, reel it in, and recast. As much as you want to read the book sitting in your lap, you’re more entertained watching Steve fish. You abandon the book and just enjoy the sight for a bit. After a bit, you decide to pick up your book again.
**TIMESKIP**
By the time you’ve finished your novel, Steve has caught quite a few fish, some of them a pretty decent size. You set your book down and watch as Steve curls his hand around the back of the collar on his shirt and swiftly removes it. You chuckle as he dives off the deck on the back of the boat and into the ocean. You wait until you hear him surface before stripping down to your swimsuit. He climbs back up on the deck, and stands there to drip for a moment, before grinning at the sight of you in your (YFC) swimsuit. He quickly takes note of the mischievous look in your eyes. You give him a moment to enjoy the sight before smirking and shoving him backwards off the deck. His arms flail out, as if to pinwheel him upright again, and you laugh as nothing stops him from falling back into the water. When his head pops out from the water, Steve swims slowly back to the deck, where you’ve gone to help him back up, but instead of leaning up to take the assistance, Steve wraps his hand around your forearm just tight enough that when he pulls, you fall into the water beside him. He laughs when you finally gasp for air.
“We’re even, now, right?” He asks as he helps you onto the deck and follows you up.
You put your hand to your chin, as if deep in thought, before turning with a smile on your face. “Sure, sweetheart.” You drag out, and Steve’s eyebrows rise. A second later he grins again as he falls back into the water as you push his shoulders back. Finally, the sun seems to be a few minutes from setting, and you quickly help Steve up into the boat, and snatch a couple of towels. You hastily settle in to snuggle with Steve and you both watch the sunset.
After that gorgeous sight, you think Steve has really outdone himself, but as Steve steers the boat back to the island, you realize the night hasn’t ended. He’s driving towards a different dock than the one you had used to launch the boat. You notice a fire blazing nearby, and someone familiar is tending it. Kamekona. Suddenly, it dawns on you. You’d be having a dinner on the beach, and under the stars. Steve is amazing. You can’t believe he planned all this.
Dinner goes well and you just sit there, looking at your boyfriend, who’d given you an amazing day. You noticed that he had only carried his gun today, and you were impressed that he left his phone at home. But you are still on cloud nine after today, so when Steve throws his arm around you, you lean in and relax.
Steve watches you slowly drift off in front of the fire, and after he knows you’re actually asleep, he pays Kamekona for his time and services. Once Kamekona is on his way home, Steve puts out the fire, then gently picks you up bridal style. He carries you to his truck and gently puts you in the passenger seat. He double checks that he’s already loaded everything from the boat and then starts his truck up. He’d planned for the boat to be driven back tomorrow, and he has the keys, so now all he worries about is getting you home and to bed without waking you up.
The End

A New Year’s Celebration
Words: 707
Summary: Requested by: @hawaiianohana15; Steve mcgarrett story we celebrate new year's together under the stars
You sit down and sighed, drawing warmth from both the fire in front of you and the man seated next to you. It is New Year's Eve, and neither of you had wanted to stay home, so Steve asked about hiking. You agreed and now you both were camped out for the night on Palikea Ridge. It had been a solid three hours hike, which meant you were exhausted. But you were happy that you could spend the night with your boyfriend.
You sit on a log, watching the flames dance in the firepit, and sip the beer in your hand. It was almost midnight, and you couldn't wait for the new year. You wonder what the new year would bring, hoping for better things than this last year. 2018 hadn't been a terrible year by any definition, but it definitely had its moments. Finally, your face feels warm from the fire, and as the fire cracks, you glance at your watch. 23:54. Just under seven minutes and the New Year would be here. You look up and are amazed by all the stars in the sky. It's gorgeous, you think as you stare at the stars. There were so many stars that it always awed you when you took time to look at them. With both of you living in the city, it was hard to see the stars sometimes, but when there weren't any lights around, you loved seeing the unquantifiable number of stars in the sky. The fire snaps again, and you move your gaze to it, watching the flames dance. Steve moves, though, and he whispers that he'll be right back.
Steve loves taking you camping. He adores the way you get so lost looking at the sky, watching the fire move, or the way you seem to soak up the sunlight on your face midday. He wishes you both could get away from life to do this more often, but between his job and yours, it's hard. But tonight, he hopes he can make your position in his life more permanent. After all, if he's learned anything from his time with Five-O, it's that life is short. Thankfully, he had the foresight to pack the ring with him tonight. He’d dragged Danno and Kono with him when he went to pick it out. It had been quite the adventure. He climbs into the tent and fishes his pillow out of his sleeping bag. Steve checks his watch, 23:57. Good. He wants to make this perfect. He wants to start the New Year off with you as his fiancé, and not just his girlfriend anymore.
You see Steve climbing out of the tent and curiosity has you tilting your head and furrowing your eyebrows. Confusion dances in your head when Steve gets near you before grabbing your hand and drops to his knees.
"Steve? Is everything alright?" Concern bowls over the confusion, though, as you know he has a thing about getting injured and not letting anyone know.
"Yeah. Yeah. Well, sort of. YN, we've been dating for five months, three weeks, and two days. In this amount of time, I've thought of having things. Things that have never, never, crossed my mind until now. Things like kids, a future, you living with me, and me making you breakfast, in our home. And I've decided that I want these things with you. I've decided that, as great as Danno is as my work partner, I want you as my life partner. I want you to have my six through thick and thin, and I want to have your back through thick and thin. I want your face to be the first thing I see in the morning and the last thing I see at night. YN, I would be very honored if you'd agree to be my wife?"
You throw a hand up to cover your mouth in surprise, before nearly yelling, "Yes! Oh my gosh, absolutely!" Excitement drips in your tone and you jump into Steve's arms, while fireworks go off around you to start off the new year. Your new year has started off just right, maybe not the way you thought, but still.
"Happy New Year, sweetheart." Steve kisses you.

Summary: Requested by Anon: What about reader being a college student and visiting her mother at SAMH but finding herself trapped in the elevator that with TC and having no time to realize what’s happening before the elevator starts falling and then crush. When TC awakes and realizes what happened, he struggles waking you up and keep you awake once you opened your eyes and tries shouting for help when things start getting worse.
Hope you enjoy it!
The antiseptic smell was almost overpowering as you entered San Antonio Memorial. You decided that if it was your choice, you'd never visit a hospital again. Unfortunately, your mom was here after being sent home by Urgent Care. They'd said she'd be fine, but instead she'd be dead if she hadn't gone to the ER for a sore throat. That sore throat, as it turns out, was strep throat gone septic. The idea that your mom drove herself to the ER, but couldn't remember the trip, absolutely petrified you. But SAMH had a very capable ER staff as they had her diagnosed and admitted within 2 hours. Today was the first day after finals and you'd driven straight from Houston to see her.
You step into the elevator and hit the button for floor 4. But before the door closes, a man in scrubs enters it with you.
Since you're standing next to the panel, you ask, "What floor?"
He looks at the panel briefly, "4th. Same as you."
Unbidden, the thought that he's cute enters your mind.
"Family or friend?" The man in scrubs asks as the elevator begins to ascend.
"Family. You?" As soon as the question leaves your mouth, you regret it.
He smiles gently, "Neither. Just a patient follow up."
You nod, afraid to say something else stupid. Suddenly, the elevator jerks to a stop.
"That's weird. Hit the call button, please?" The doctor asks.
You do so, and while it dials, you ask him his name.
"I'm TC. You are?" He smirks.
"YN. YN YLN." You feel your cheeks pinken.
"Really? That's odd, my patient has-" TC's response is cut short when the elevator drops a bit. "Okay, something's definitely not right."
You look up, the elevator hadn't even made the third floor. Before you can say anything, the floor literally drops from beneath your feet. Darkness consumes your vision as you hear everything finally thud.
TC begins to wake up slowly. Pain infects most of him. Fortunately, none of it was as bad as Afghanistan. He groans softly. As he lays there, he remembers a young woman being with him when the elevator dropped. He opens his eyes, looking around for you. All he could see was dust and debris from the elevator ceiling. He beings to shift stuff off of him and as he clears his feet off, he sees a pair of tennis shoes. Finally! As much as he wants to rush clearing you off, he knows slow is the best he can do.
"Hey, Jordan, is there any reason Elevator 2 is dialing out?" Topher glances at his colleague.
"No, not unless it's stuck or something. Answer the call." Jordan moves over to where Topher's standing.
Topher hits the button, "Hello?"
The only response is the cackling of static from the phone machine.
"Hmm, weird. Must've been an accident. I'll get maintenance to look at it." Jordan states as Topher steps out of her way.
"Ugh, come on." TC urges as he moves a heavy piece of debris. Once he gets it clear, there's only one piece left. He goes to move it, but realizes it's glass, and it's the only thing stopping you from bleeding out. 'Now, this, this is like Afghanistan. Nothing to stop the bleeding if I remove it, yet no way to see any other damage until it's moved.' TC thinks. He wonders if anyone has realized what's happened yet. 'Only one way to find out.'
"Help! Help!" Suddenly, your body just barely shifts under his hand, and he focuses on you. "YN, YN. Woah, calm down. Sorry," he tries to stop you from moving. "Can't go anywhere yet."
Your eyes flutter, and you stop moving, "It hurts." "I know, I know." TC's face grimaces. "I've been trying to get someone's attention." Your eyes widen, "How long have we been down here?"
"Not sure," TC checks his watch. It's shattered.
"TC, I don't feel good." TC's worry ratchets up.
"Is it a new pain or the old one?" He asks.
"No, I just feel sluggish..." You slur before your eyes slowly close.
"YN, YN! Don't go to sleep. Come on!" Frustration and worry color TC's voice. Although the glass has mostly stopped you from bleeding, you had still lost a concerning amount of blood.
"Please, just let me sleep." TC was concerned with how much you were slurring your words.
"Hey, YN, can I check something? I need you to stay awake for me, though." He warned.
You nod, but it sends knives slicing through your skull. He fishes his penlight, which, amazingly, stayed intact through this entire ordeal, out of his pocket. He notices you have dilated pupils, and is slightly relieved before a bigger fear sets in. He now knows you have a concussion, but there is always a possiblity of a brain bleed, and that could be fatal if not treated in time. TC hopes it's just a concussion.
Jordan follows the maintenance man to the first floor, where the elevator is marked. The maintenance man hits the button and they wait, but nothing happens, so he taps it again. As nothing responds, the maintenance man takes a crowbar and opens the elevator entrance before blocking Jordan's way.
"What? What's wrong?" Jordan asks as horror flits across the man's face.
"Somebody should call the fire department..." The man trails off.
"What happened?" Curiosity laces Jordan's voice. "YN!" Jordan barely hears the voice, but when she does catch it, it sounds horrifyingly familiar. "TC! That you?" Jordan yells, stepping forward cautiously, and seeing the destroyed elevator.
"Jordan! We need help!" TC's voice rings out. "How many are with you?" Jordan pages Topher. "One besides myself!" Coughing sounds make their way up the elevator shaft.
When Topher finally picks up, Jordan explains the situation before directing him to call the fire department.
A few hours later, TC sits in the waiting room. Drew had checked him out, and all TC had needed was a cast for his right arm. The rest of him was fine. So now, he sits in the waiting room, to see if Topher is able to fix you. TC knows Topher has his hands full, and decides to grab a snack from the vending machine while he waits.
5 AM rolls around, and TC is anxious for Topher's news when he spots the man exiting the surgical hall. He jumps up to greet his friend. "How is she?"
"She's stable. She's got twenty-three stitches in her stomach, but that could've been a lot worse. Also, you were right, she has a concussion, but no brain bleed that we saw on the CT. She'll need some PT for her stomach, but overall, man, she's okay."
Relief nearly takes TC to the floor. "What room is she in? Can I see her?" The thought that he's acting like a concerned family member crosses his mind, but is quickly brushed off. He doesn't care.
"Yeah, bro, she's in 4819, with her mom. Apparently that woman you treated for misdiagnosed sepsis is her mom. YMN can't wait to meet you. She said she wanted to thank the man who helped save her life."
"I thought her last name sounded familiar."
Topher raises an eyebrow in amusement, "last name? What exactly was going on in that elevator, TC?"
"Nothing." TC answers a little too quickly.
TC takes the stairs this time- he has a feeling he's going to be avoiding the elevators for a bit after this. As he reaches the fourth floor, he heads towards your room. When he gets there, he knocks gently on the door.

Two Month Regrets
Words: 1147 Summary: Requested by @hawaiianohana15: how about a Steve mcgarrett reader where I confess my feelings to him as I lay in his arms feeling his heart against mine as we are finally together at last
A/N: Hope you enjoy it! Sorry it took me so long.
“I’m sorry.” Everything said past that point didn’t need to be said, considering Steve McGarrett stood on your doorstep, apologizing at 3 AM. He was dumping you. As much as you didn’t want to hear him utter another word, my curiosity for the reasoning was even stronger. “Why? Why now?” The words burst from you. “Because, I can’t do my job and keep you safe.” The knife sits in your chest. “And now, because I can’t afford to continue this relationship if you can’t be safe.” The knife digs in. “Isn’t that my choice? Is it not my choice whether I am safe in a relationship or not?” Anger was lashing through your voice. “Of course, it is, (Y/N). But, even if you did, I couldn’t do that.” Hurt rushes to replace the anger.
That was two months ago, and tonight you’d be going to a nearby with some friends in an effort to finally move on. George and Jill were friends from your precinct. Tonight, they’d be playing wingman and wing-woman for you, which you appreciated greatly. But you also felt bad. Maybe, if you’d just proved- no. That line of thinking needed to end. There was nothing wrong with you, and if Steve didn’t see that, well, it was his loss.
The three of you sit at a table, near the counter. George decides he’s first. He walks over to a young man, blonde, late twenties, slim- but muscular. Kind of cute, you think, but… No, He is cute. George is a miracle-worker because he blondie coming over to chat.
“Liam, this is (Y/N),” George leans towards Blondie, “the single one. And that’s Jill. She’s isn’t single.” You both wave your hands respectively. A few minutes later, Jill announces she and George need a refill, trying to subtly give you and Liam some privacy. Unfortunately, Liam seems to have only stuck around for the crowd, because as soon as the other two are gone, he leaves as well. When George and Jill come back, you shrug before they eve open their mouths. But as Jill gets up for her turn, you see five familiar faces enter the bar. Thankfully, Jill sees them as well. So, does George. “New bar?” Jill asks. “Yeah, heard there was new one down on 21st.” You respond. The three of you make your way to the door. Five feet from the door, and you hear your name. You turn around to see who called and a very familiar face is heading in your direction. You turn to leave, anger at him bubbling up. “Wait, (Y/N)!” Steve yells again. You stop to face him before putting your hands on your hips. “What, Steve?” Exasperation dripping from your voice. “I just… I wanted to say hi.”
Steve sputters and he feels like a young boy, trying to tell his crush he likes her. His face feels warm. “Oh? Great, you said hi. Can I leave now?” The annoyance in your tone causes hurt to wash over him. But he reminds himself, he’s the one who hurt you first. They’d been so close to finally capturing Wo Fat, but then Jenna and Korea happened. After that, Steve had lost faith in many things, one of them being his ability to keep you safe. About a week after he broke up with you, Danno confronted him about his attitude and yelled at him for hours. “Wait. Listen, (Y/N). I need to apologize. The way I handled certain events was… terrible, to say the least. I’m so sorry I took it out on you.” “Yeah, well,” you clearly hadn’t expected the apology.
Sighing internally, as you give into your lovesick urges, you respond, “how about we start over?” Steve nods his head in agreement before holding his hand out. “Hello, I’m Steve. You are?” You shake his hand, “(Y/N),” and smile. “Can I get you a drink, (Y/N)?” Steve asks, and you see Jill standing outside one of the windows, smiling and shooting you a thumbs up.
Three drinks and two hours later, you can feel the alcohol buzzing through your system. You glace down at your watch- 1:30 AM. You stand up, gathering your things. “Hey, Steve. Thanks for tonight.” He stands up. “You heading out?” Steve confirms. “Yeah.” “Let me walk you home.” Even though you know your judgement’s impaired, thanks to the alcohol, you agree.
Once you arrive home, you invite Steve inside. “So, this was a great first date.” You murmur. “I’d like to think so.” Steve replies. “Great. Hey, would you like to watch a movie?” You figure he’s already inside, why not? “Um, yeah. What were you thinking?” “How about Polar Express? It’s been a family tradition to watch it on Christmas Eve since I was little.” “I didn’t know that, and yeah, sounds great.” He tilts his head. You smirk, “Well, now you do.” As he flips through the TV screens, setting up the movie, you start the popcorn and grab a blanket for the two of you. When the popcorn finishes, you haul your treats out and sit next to him. It doesn’t take very long before you find your head in his lap and him smoothing your hair. Without thinking, you speak, “I never stopped loving you.” Steve starts at your words, but he knows you’re also not entirely sober, “How about you tell me that when you haven’t had any liquid courage?” He smiles gently, when instead of a response, he hears you gently snoring.
You wake up to sunlight streaming through your windows, and a touch of a headache. The night slowly filters through your mind and you decide to see if Steve decided to actually stay. You assume so, since you woke up in your bed after having fallen asleep on the sofa.
As you enter the living room, you hear movement from the couch. You grin, Steve has never been a still sleeper. You still confirm it’s him. Next thing on your morning to-do list is breakfast. You get started on that before Steve sits at your counter. He still looks half-asleep, “Sorry about the couch. I know it’s not the most comfortable thing in the world.” You flip the bacon. “Don’t worry about it. Shall we finish the movie after breakfast?” “Yeah, sounds good.”
After breakfast, you lay your head on Steve’s chest as he starts the movie. You can hear his pulse and it soothes you a little bit. “I know I said it last night, but I still love you, Steve.” The hand running through your hair stops, and you panic, thinking you moved a bit too fast. His response settles it almost instantaneously, though. “Sweetheart, I love you too. I’m sorry it took me two months and Danno chewing my ass out to finally figure it out.” “That’s okay. I still love you.” Today was gonna be fantastic.
