Anette Lenz (2024). AxZ[animated poster].
The artist created this colorful poster to evoke a sense of creativity. By creating opposing directions between the outer and inner elements, the design draws the audience’s attention to the center point.

Lava Beijing (2019). ‘China Contemporary Dance Biennale 2019’[animated poster]. Shanghai international dance center.
Using moving strokes imitates human’s movement while dancing and directs the audience's focus on the motion by painting only two colours across all posters, avoiding any unnecessary elements that might cause distraction.
The lesson I learned from this poster is that I can use fewer colours to emphasise motion and create a sense of rhythm by incorporating movement into the elements within my composition.

According to the left poster, I can't use it because I skewed all letters. However I still like this idea, which illustrate road and city blocks, so I designed a new one with the same idea and draw it in InDesign.
By making the big letters to be buildings and road with a history inside would be good to focus on typography.
I think it's will be a good poster with long time making.
I'll see if I can make it in one/two days.
If I couldn't, I would draw another idea.

Based on the feedback from the formative comment, I've adjusted my poster to change the audience's focus toward the typography rather than the circular shapes by reducing the size of the circular shapes.
I also came across a set of music wave visuals on Pinterest, which inspired me to add more text of the first and last text and changed their opacity to imitate the appearance of square sound waves.

Design studio Spin(2018). ‘BBC Reith campaign’[animated poster].
This animated poster displays all the letters and numbers in BBC Reith, with two letters, “H” and “I”, highlighted to form the word “HI.” They are emphasized by changing to bold when the others are in regular, and to italic when the others are in bold.

Design studio Spin(2018). ‘BBC Reith campaign’[animated poster].
Showcasing the diversity of the typeface highlights its usefulness by spelling only the word “GLOBAL” in different languages. This suggests that the typeface is suitable and adaptable for all languages by making a loop to change each language.

Design studio Spin(2018). ‘BBC Reith campaign’[animated poster].
This poster expresses the uniqueness of the new BBC typeface, which lies in the balance of each letter. The animation also uses a wobble movement to illustrate the concept of balance.

Courtney Croot(2025). AUT, Auckland.
Using a clear typeface with a red colour catches the viewer's eyes from black background. The artist chose three colours, red, black, and white made me realise the traditional colour of Maori culture as I can see a Maori’s word below.
The artist hasn't used many shapes to express their site and also less colours can evoke the engaging feeling.

Bree Luca(2025). AUT, Auckland.
The way that this artist uses rounded shapes for all elements and the font style shows the movement and vibrant of the site, which is St. Kevin arcade. Because this place contains a lot of entertainment, the artist decided to use rounded shapes around the text.
Making a curve for each shape expresses the movement of people in the site. And not putting the text at the center evokes the playful feeling.
When I look down a little bit, I can easily see the name of this site and a brief description about it.

Amelia Maelzer(2025). 'The Imaginarium‘ [poster]. AUT, Auckland.
The text arragnement in this poster expresses the flow of it. That made me feel comfortable to look at it. The decision to use less colour really catches my attention with the large size of the wording.
Putting textures in each part of circles and creating overlapping for each element helps me to see the dimensions. These techniques contribute to the overall of this poster to be more interesting.
Although the surrounded text makes a boundary but I don't feel tight. What I can see is a perfect composition by the text.

This is my 'final draft poster'
I received feedback about the stroke on the text, so I removed it and changed the colour instead to make it more distinctive.
I also moved the words 'Karangahape' behind a circular element and added other words to describe the place such as uniqueness, and identity.

I came across this idea inspired from 2 posters in Pinterest.
I wanted to illustrate the block of Karangahape Road, so I drew square shapes and added letters, which is about the road name.
Additionally, adding words that can explain the personality of the place on the walls, including the history of this road at the center wall.

The sketch of my best poster, I wanted to paint a rainbow colour inside the circle but I couldn't because the brief said "I must use only 3 colours".
So I changed the rainbow to a disc to represent the various music in K-road

I ended up with this style. I changed the word in the center because the first one didn't make sense, so I wrote it again. Changing "uniqueness, commu(community)" to "Eclecticism in urban identity", that makes sense.
I placed a hidden detail at the right side below. I played the word "Charisma" with the letter "K".
And adjusted the scale of all elements to make the letter out standing from the shape of discs.
The disc patterns, I was inspired from ‘ANON’ by Jessica Holdaway, 2019 https://designersspeakup.nz/present-tense-gallery/#jp-carousel-1751 I noticed how to create layers between each element and also the overlap space between letters and shapes.
But I don't know which colours for the word I should go with.

Actually I really like this one because I drew the pattern inside the letters "K" by myself to show the Maori texture and added text to convey the identity of this place such as diversity, LGBTQ+, and artworks.
But I used a lot of effects, so it distracts viewer's eyes to read the text.
And my lecturer said, "If you don't understand the meaning of Maori texture, I suggest not using it".
I understand this point. They have meanings for everything, I shouldn't just draw it only depends on my feelings.

This poster I created buildings to emphasis the civilization in K road then placed the letters on it. At first, I wanted to draw lines for melody but ended up changing its pattern to make it more chaotic like the vibrant of music in K road. Adding words in each building to express the identity of the place.
After I finished this design, I looked into it again and I think this one is too obvious and normal to see the name of the place.
I'm not gonna use this poster for sure!!

I was trying to use a capital letter "K" to emphasize the name of K road. I use gradient effect for making it look interesting.
But I couldn't finish creating because I think it's a little bit boring to tell a whole history on poster.
So I just stopped doing it and move ooooonnnnn
