I am a museum full of art Let's get to know each other a little better, other than having a love for clothing that runs deep, I'm a music and art enthusiast along with being a book hoarder and a sweets addict. A big chunk of my money goes to such things, and so, when having a day off, one can usually find me in our local museum, IMAS. I can spend hours in there, alone or with company. I've always been fascinated by artist, musicians and writers. I have a deep appreciation for what they create, and a love for finding out how they lived their personal lives. Personally, I like my muses flawed and my artists tortured. I'm all about that goth Lyfe, goes hand in hand with the season. That's a semi joke, in actuality, I've always liked my things a little dark. This particular day, I threw on a vintage men's tee that I thrifted for about a $1.50 that has red/orange lettering with Ridley's believe it or not sprawled on top of a skeleton riding a motorcycle. I wore it as a dress, slipped on knee-highs, and an oversize denim jacket. To be honest, men's tees as dresses are what I've been living in. I find them easy to throw on for a quick #ootd. For a night out, I'll toss my leather jacket and a strappy heel. Not gonna brag or anything, but multiple looks for $1.50? Yeah, I'll take it *raises hands* xo,z

100% Organic & No GMO’s, kids
Off key singing, bad dance moves, sweaty bodies, cold brews, cheeky flags, rad #ootd’s, and new friendships are all things that come to mind when I think of ACL. Also, all my fellow cliche hipsters make an appearance and frown upon those who only know of the headliners. I may or may not be one of those walking cliche hipsters. We might never know.
I adore how creative people get with their outfit choices, and how you can go into a show not knowing the person next to you, but you’re sharing this experience together. The energy and enthusiasm from the all age tribe that goes to these events is a feeling you can’t just find anywhere else.
. .
This year, I was only able to make it to Friday’s lineup due to duty calling. That’s right, work. Insert groan. Regardless, I am a die hard Radiohead fan, so going on Friday was a no brainier. Festival goers are some of the most creative fashion forward crowd around, so I knew I wanted to make my mark on the festival grounds while still being comfortable enough for the all day sun bath I would be enduring.
I shopped around and decided on black booties with gold hardware for my footwear choice. It was raining sporadically, and I didn’t want to take my chances in wearing sandals. In fact, I probably will never do a festival in sandals. Wet toes are never cute. I then wanted to a hands free bag so I could dance dance dance away, and a mini suede bucket bag with leather inserts felt just right. A floppy hat to keep my face from getting too sunburned plus a flowy, floral romper completed my outfit. I layered with dainty cold necklaces and for that extra festival touch, added star freckles to my face. How? Simple. Made a quick stop to Hobby lobby, picked up some star stickers and placed them all over my face. Valfre inspired star freckles had your girl acting brand new.
Its October, but the weather didn’t get the memo. To avoid dehydration, I fueled up with lots of H2O and Oktoberfest beer ;) I blessed the crowd at Major Lazer with my bad dance moves, laid down and let Radiohead’s syrupy music serenade me under the night sky and ate way too much at Torchy’s Tacos food truck on the festival grounds. Missing the other two days was a little sad but I don’t let it get to me. Till Next Year music babies 🖖🏼

keep it weird it's been a while since I've posted, and I apologize for my inconsistency. There have been a lot of big changes going on in my personal life, leaving me with a sense of wanting to find myself spiritually, and just grow as a person. it's been weeks of meditation, prayer, yoga and a lot of self reflecting. In between those weeks, I made a weekend trip to Austin,Texas. I packed all sorts of black boots, vintage Levi's, cut off retro guess tees and oversized denim jackets. We brunched, we danced, we explored. my entire weekend was spent in black + denim. And lately, that's how I've been living. This goth wannabe is more than ready for fall. Should you find yourself in Austin, pack effortless cool girl outfits. You don't want to be that girl that looks like she's trying too hard. this should include, quirky shades, vintage band tees, sneakers or boots, a layering piece, such as a fringe leather jacket or pinned up denim jacket, and shorts. This weather is no joke. Also, a stop at little Lucy's donuts trailer is a must for delicious chocolate espresso donuts. You can thank me later for that one ;) xo,z

Currently
Beating Texas summer 16 with vintage high waist Levi’s shorts that I scored for two dollars at my local thrift store, starting Tone it up’s 28 day challenge, aiming for a healthier version of me, taking my skin care game to another level with Lush Dark Angel’s cleanser. Cause goth summah’s are what it’s all about. Singing White Light by Shura quite obnoxiously as I shower, and spending all my days sipping coffee plus eating vegan cinnamon rolls at Grind Co. And all along thinking to myself how there’s a major babe drought, *sigh* but this journey I’m on to further invest in myself, is pretty special.

birthday lifestyle Last week I turned 27 years old, and spent the entire weekend in my retro bathing suits, floating on donuts, and munching on macaroons and blasting 1999 Britney Spears jams. Safe to say, that's become a birthday tradition. My awesome tribe of people out did themselves with gifting me quirks galore. From ACL tickets to go see RADIOHEAD (swoon!), records and unicorn pens. It warms my heart, how my best friends know me so well. Fashion being so important to me, I carefully chose my pool and beach ootd's. To hang by the pool, I took an inspo from my inner hipster chola, and slipped on an all black high waist bathing suit and bandanna, swiped on Bambi on my lips and for a beach day with the parentals, an 8 dollar bathing suit top from Walmart, vintage Levi shorts and messy hair would be my go to. simple. Besides all the sun and champagne, what made this birthday extra special, is reflecting back on the past year. Let me tell you, it's been a year of growth. I've lost way too many friends, went through a difficult break up, and been trying to deal with my trust issues. It's such a normal experience after having close friends walk out of my life but I decided that I did not want to be jaded. I like to believe in people. The people who have my back have been around for awhile. This tribe of mine has been so supportive through it all. And what this year taught me was this, be picky with whom you invest your time with. Choose wisely. And most importantly, make yourself a priority. Here's a controversial thought, I like myself. I like who I have become, and I don't care to listen to society that at my age I should be a mother and a wife and not spent my days caring about outfits or quirks. Nope. Not this girl. I choose to chase happiness, a peace of mind, and a relationship with my tribe and God. I choose to be the 27 year old who still doesn't want to work on her birthday, who wants to eat cake all day, blast music and have impromptu dance parties. The girl who doesn't care that she's not a size 0 to wear a bathing suit, who gets THIS excited for new music and books. And you babes, should chase your bliss. Chase your happiness. Be you, and don't stop believing in the good of people. xo,z

summer sixteen Last month, I spent a beautiful and peaceful week with my immediate family in Colorado. The views were absolutely breathtaking, and everything was insta picture worthy. Everywhere you looked, there was a gorgeous little stream of water, a quirky vintage shoppe or a must try coffee shoppe. Of course, being the craft beer fan that I am, I made time to drop into local breweries such as the Baker's brewery to try their French silk stout or sip some Breckinridge porter. By the end of my trip, I was reluctantly packing, cause I just couldn't bear the thought of leaving such a serene place behind.... I packed my favorite DIY denim jacket, my favorite flat Chelsea boots (if you've noticed, I hardly ever go traveling without it), and my layers of black clothes. For my traveling ootd, I threw on a fun donut crop top (@ forever 21), a denim shirt tied around my waist and a pair of vans. I've said this over and over, I like to make an effort, even when I will just be traveling. For the evening ( it drops to about 50 degrees) I threw on my leather jacket over it. The next few days had me re-working that denim shirt, by adding on a bandanna, a red lip and flat boots to dine away at all the mom and pop pizza places. Comfy is the name of the game. I braided my hair a la Kardashian, slipped on my layers of black, swiped lady danger (Mac) on my lips and shopped away. Everyone kept asking about my jacket and pins, and it's such a cool feeling to be able to express yourself through little pins, cause pinning is a habit🎶 I also wore a white little dress, layered too many midi rings and beaded bracelets while I walked around Frisco, Colorado and checked out all the best vintage stores. I scored an AMAZING key necklace with the words CREATE on it. This piece was made with me in mind, and I had to have it. For my hiking gear, all black with a dash of leather jacket with a unicorn pin, cause yes to unicorns and quirks. My pictures don't really do Colorado any justice, but should you ever find yourself there, check out Ollie's for burgers and brews, Baker's for the infamous French Silk Stout, and Marygold's for quirky jewelry and home decor inspo. Just like Girl Boss Sophia tweeted a couple of months ago, " I travel to remind myself that I'm stuck with myself no matter how pretty the scenery is" xo, z

Currently Find me sipping that Bey lemonade, re-reading a favorite, becoming a goal digger along the way, loving how yummy this coffee mask from LUSH smells, and how soft my skin feels after, and thinking to myself I kind of really like this, searching for the quirkiest patches and pins to add to my denim, and supporting a local creative soul whom put together a dope show in a local art gallery, and all along thinking to myself how imperative it is to stand by what you believe in, and not compromise those beliefs, your true person, for anyone else. xo,z

Vintage Queens Awhile back, I was driving through McAllen, John Mayer playing in the background, when I drove by a big, White House. Outside this house, I spotted a retro, pastel pink bike, a mannequin wearing this gorgeous red sequined dress and cars parked. Forever being the curious girl I am, I pulled in, and walked straight into the most magical place in town. Vintage teacups, pearls, beautiful big tulle dresses, white lace, pastel Afro wigs, all of these things are what you will find inside Vintage On Main. The staff is so friendly, and everything is covetable. Each room houses a different vintage shoppe, and although they are all lovely, It's Good To Be Queen is by far my favorite. It feels like home! I want to just lay among all the pastel tulle and dreamy chiffon dresses all while listening to Lana del Rey, as one does. The owner, a bubbly, stunning of a girl named Paola, agreed to let me play with her vintage pieces and shoot. So I grabbed my girl gang of Angelica, Cristina and Bernie, on a cloudy Saturday morning, and off we went, snap snap snap. Angelica and I had this vision of two uptown girls, whom loved off beat pieces, had great taste with a streak of rebellion in them. Fuck the pretty girls with style just like everyone else, these girls knew what they liked and what they didn't. These girls showed up to your prom to fuck shit up, all while rocking, vintage, couture pieces. I am obsessed with how this entire shoot came out, I especially loved the pastel dresses we used. It's a damn shame my prom was years ago, or else I would be showing up in any one of those dresses, leather jacket in tow, and an unlit cigarette dangling from my mouth, a la James dean. I still shop from Its Good To Be Queen regularly for one of a kind jewelry pieces, the dopest jackets, and just to get inspired by all the prettiness that resides there. Fast fashion is cool, designer pieces are rad but vintage will forever have a big place in my heart. xo,z

sweet you rock, sweet you roll Vacations are always great to clear your head, have some fun, and make some memories... The last thing you want to worry about is your outfit. You want comfort, you want style, but mostly comfort. Insert oversized tee, skinny jeans and rad Chelsea boots. add all the extras, and you're golden babes. I have a best friend who is a HUGE Dave Matthews Band fan, and they happened to be playing in Houston, Texas. So we packed lightly and drove the six hours to the Woodlands pavilion to catch some good music under a gorgeous night sky. Given that it was an outdoor concert (swoon), I opted to be dressed comfortable enough to lay under the stars, but still have that cool girl effortless look. My entire outfit is from Forever 21, from the shoes to the hat. So easy to replicate, it's all in the extras. A tassel gold necklace, moon midi rings, mirrored sunnies... they make a simple outfit way more cool. I threw on a hat cause let's be real, I was not about to spend precious weekend time fussing over my hair. The concert was magical, the atmosphere and location gave me so many summer vibes. The next day, we brunched at Black Walnut Cafe, shopped for way too many bath bombs at lush. The neapolitan waffles from the Black Walnut Cafe were so decadent, and so worth the extra calories. You can't possibly vacation without brunch being involved. It goes against all things vacation related. Don't be that person. Once I was home, I headed to grab a latte Del Rey's from Jitterz and lost myself in the pages of Hemingway's Girl. It's a piece that will have you wanting to know more about Mr. Hemingway. As of lately, I've been obsessively trying to learn more about him and Van Gogh.... I find these creative men to be major muses. I find their personal lives to be so fascinating to me. If you're looking for a book to read as you lay out on the beach, this one's it. To end a perfect weekend, I spent a lazy Sunday afternoon searching for inspiration in the walls of my local museum, in plaid and distressed denim jacket.... making Kurt proud✌🏽️

Color my world I was strolling through my favorite thrift store trying to find an outfit for a Pretty in Pink themed party I was attending, when this piece caught my eye. I loved the artful bright print it had, and I knew I HAD to take it home with me. I ended up paying a dollar for this piece. A dollar ! I picked up the hem a tad cause it was too long for my frame, threw on strappy heels, a denim crossbody and viola, out the door I went. When buying vintage pieces, it's always such a treat. Cause you just know, no other girl will be wearing what you're wearing. I've also found vintage pieces to be 1.) more affordable, I mean I paid a dollar for this piece! And 2.) a lot more interesting ! the prints are more bold and FUN. In a world where girls are seen in little black dresses overcrowding the local bar scene, you'll see me standing bright in this unique piece, possibly obsessing over my denim crossbody as well. GUESS, the original denim company has made this bag that I can already fore see being a classic for years to come. The gold chain screams classy to me and the tassel on the side of the bag is unexpected and fun. Plus, I need both of my hands while I'm out, for my phone and champagne glass 😉 xo, z

give 'em tulle Inspired by the upcoming Easter holiday, where everyone puts on their Sunday best, I decided that I would ditch the Easter dress in place of a tulle skirt. Swoon. This skirt is from LC's Kohls Cinderella collection, and it's easily the prettiest skirt I own. It's not a rule that you have to bring out your pastels for Easter, but it's my personal go to. As much as I adore brights, pastels have a special place in my heart when it comes to Easter Sunday. Periwinkle's, lavenders, whites and blushes all look oh so very pretty. I hope you enjoy this weekend with family, and with a mindful heart for what this day is really about. I also hope that you dress in something that screams YOU, for me, I'm giving 'em tulle and keeping it lighthearted and fun. Now off I go to day dream with confetti. xo,z

you're making me blush On the 'gram, on the streets, on celebs, that's where I'm seeing blush lately. It's time to ditch the blacks (ok maybe) and opt for blushes, whites & periwinkle's. As I shop around for a spring wardrobe, those are the colors that are making my eyes turn into little hearts. So it just felt right to throw on an all white ensemble, with pops of blush to go on a Nutella churro run at La Catrina. It was a brave move on my part, but no white clothes were stained in this adventure. A nude wedge and rose gold aviators were a must with this outfit. These sunnies are from Aldo's and the wedges from GUESS. I have always been a fan of Aldo's sunnies, they are affordable and always on trend. This pair in particular feel so right for spring. You'll see me sporting this color combo, All Summer Sixteen 💕 xo,z

Currently ...obsessing over this new cupcake shoppe I discovered in Weslaco, called Happiness cupcakes, watching Pretty in Pink over and over, trying to emulate Andy's style aesthetic to my every day life, trying to wear my black pointy oxfords with everything, ordering cupid lattes from Moonbeans daily, reading anything and everything about Chanel, blasting The Cure, and dancing to Bowie with my pals.... That's all.
