Thematic Headcanons

/ Ratigan is very much into sewing, as feminine as the task may be, he does enjoy it. Theres that voodoo doll of Basil in his lair which I HC that he made himself, yes, to perhaps torture and take out his frustrations on xD but still.

I like to think he embroiders in his spare time, perhaps make dolls similar to that of people he dislikes to later destroy or what have you. But its almost therapeutic to him to just sit and sew for a while and focus on this one task rather than his mind going a million miles an hour to focus on many different things.

Because of how feminine the hobby is however, he does keep it secret.

/ Ratigan's 'friends' are mostly what he refers to his henchmen as, though you can tell in his tone of voice that they aren't really his friends. He likes to feel important enough to have them think he considers them a 'friend.'

In all honesty, Ratigan doesn't have friends. Maybe Basil would/could have been but they live on two separate sides of the law. Everyone else is merely a tool or a pawn in his games. Who has time for friends when you're obsessing over your science and plans to take over mousedom?

He rolled his eyes in response to the badgering and pestering annoyance of Mr Ages's voice. He merely had asked because he was curious, curious to know if Mr Ages truly DID decide to keep rats around him for a reason, other than emotional connection, which, in his mind, was quite an appalling reason.

Perhaps if Mr Ages had not crept so low into the bowels of human torture and need of expansion the mouse would still be a legitimate and well regarded member of Mousedom society. What a dreadful shame. Though at least he could rely on such a man.

Back to the matter at hand though and the rodent sighed, flopping his head back to stare at the ceiling.

"Manageable I suppose... When I do not move that is... It feels more like a BURNING sensation radiating from the wound..."

" Psh. Think what you like, I have nothing to prove to you or anyone else. " Mr. Ages waved a paw dismissively. " But, aye. There are quite a few mice who are very foolish indeed. " he meant Ratigan. for someone who claimed to be an intellectual, Ratigan seemed to lack the observational skills to see through Brutus's dense act. " I gather that you're feeling much better if you can speak so well today."

he was not aware that Ratigan knew of his past fate but it would not surprise Mr. Ages at all. the underground sources would be able to dig up anything no matter how well buried the information was. " Why would you even ask such a question if you had no intent to engage in the conversation? " he said under his breath as he shook his head. he wondered if he ought to include poppy seeds in the medication or not. those were rather dangerous but they cut through pain and Mr. Ages supposed that Ratigan was in a bad mood because of the pain. " Back to business talk, how much pain are you in right now? Is it manageable or not? "

Ratigan rose his brow as the mouse continued, he had heard such drivel before. Unfair pay, workers rights, all that business that he cared not much for. It only took a spark to light a fire, though he was not one to be the one to burn for the rights of others, he merely manipulated and drove them to do his bidding, as it was a better life and a more promising life to the ones they had recieved.

But when Roger made that last comment, it drew out yet another smile, it amused and made the rodent proud at that compliment and he hissed the smoke out between his teeth and puffed out his chest.

"Ahhhh~ But of course," he chortled and tapped the ash away from his cigarette. "A REAL scholar, you are quite right, for how else could any of you pull of these marvellous heists of mine? Hm?"

He chuckled darkly before rising to his feet, looming so much taller between all these smaller mice. "You, come, walk with me," he ordered Roger and then pointed to two more. "You two, bring my bottle and chest of jewels we captured last, hurry up."

A finger trails around the rim of his pint, circling morosely as Roger lowers his eyes.

"Worked as a docker, not far from 'ere. Pay was bad, got worse. The foreman kept fleecing us out of our wages, so one day me an' the lads got together and robbed him blind."

His first head-first dive into crime, he'd never gone back to being an upstanding member of society. Not when the dredges like him ot taken for suckers.

"Not like you, boss, a real Professor an' all." He laughed, trying to go for some levity, "We're a right bunch of ruffians compared to you."

The small child was suspicious, his nose twitching furiously as he attempted to catch her scent. She smelt nothing like the females in the sewer, not like his mother, or any of the others he knew, she smelt... Of food, fresh food, baked and more comforting things.

He edged forward, contemplating her words. She was also a mother, was she going to hurt him too?

His nose wiggled again at the outstretched hand, seeing if there was food offered to him first and then staring up to Anna-Marie's face... And took the chance.

With a small, trembling hand, the pup reached out and took the one she offered to him.

While her husband glowers and grumbles at the continued intrusion, Anna Maria considers the downtrodden child before her, one clawed finger tapping at a thin chin.

"Company requires tea, and pound cake, I believe," she drawls, approaching closer, no sudden moves. "And perhaps some tidying up. Come along, child, don't cower so. I've have dozens of children, scrappier than you."

That much was true. She glances upwards at the dusty floorboards, where the padded feet of cats go back and forth now and again. The beginnings of an idea are threading in her head, but one thing at a time.

She offers a hand.

it all feels the same. it always has. the same few things, over and over. no variety, no progress. you feel like you've messed up somewhere, and can't figure out where. you've been walking down this road for so long, it feels like years. it also feels like a few hours, maybe only a day. it was supposed to lead somewhere, someday. it was supposed to be promising, but all you've reached is a dead end. you wonder if you took a wrong turn along the way. you sit down, wishing to restart, and maybe not take this path at all. this has happened yesterday, it's happened today, it's happened tomorrow. it feels neverending. instead, maybe retracing your steps will help. this isn't the end for you, there's still many roads to go down, it's just that this particular one wasn't the one for you. you want to restart with a blank slate, but would that really be the best idea? who would you be without the mistakes, and progress you've made so far?
