Could I get your advice on something? I'm making a SDJ OC too and I came up with a design I like but I'm worried it might be too similar to your OCs. Her name is Marisol, she has an off-the-shoulder top and wears her hair in buns with the rest of her hair long. I swear I came up with the design before I ever found your blog but do you think that I should change it? The last thing I would want is for you or anyone else to think I'm trying to rip you off. Marie/Mary is really cute by the way.
I would say, try other things to see if you can find something else you like just as much, but if you can’t - it’s not the end of the world. I certainly don’t hold the monopoly on characters with the hairdo I gave mine, or the names they have. You might have to fend off a few questions here and there, but that’s as easy as just politely correcting people about your inspiration if they think you’re copying me. As long as the characters have a bit of difference between yours and mine, I don’t see an issue :)

“If you ‘accidentally’ trample my peonies during your silly little game time again, I am going to ‘accidentally’ feed your sneakers through my lawnmower! Are we clear?!” - Mary Contrary, episode How Does Your Garden Grow? Behind The Scenes photo captured by ▋▋▋▋▋▋▋ ▋▋▋▋▋▋▋▋▋▋▋▋▋ at Lambswork Productions.
Mary Contrary, the antagonistic gardener from the popular children's show The Sunny Time Crew Show, is proving to be a hit with kids everywhere. Mary Contrary is a strong-willed, short-tempered young lady who wants nothing more in the world than to be left to tend to her garden in peace, a feat made almost impossible living in CloudyTown alongside the antics of the titular Sunny Time Crew. Mary Contrary's quirky antics and her love for her garden have won over many children and adults alike, despite only being a side character. The show's creator, ▋▋▋▋▋▋ ▋▋▋▋▋▋▋, says that Mary Contrary was intended to be a comedic foil to the upbeat and positive Jack. “We wanted to have an antagonist character who was actually quite likable,” ▋▋▋▋▋▋▋ says. “Mary can say some pretty mean things, but she also has this strong work ethic, and a soft side when she gets her way. So she’s not all bad. She’s kind of a lesson in handling differences, in a way.” Mary Contrary has become a fan favorite and her popularity continues to grow. Her garden, which is filled with bright colors and unique plants, has become a character in and of itself. Kids can't help but love Mary and her garden, despite her sharp tongue and sharper hedge trimmers. Who knows what kind of obstacles she will bring to Jack and his friends in the future? (It’s me, hi! Life got busy but I am still kicking, so please enjoy this drawing of Miss Mary Contrary, and the article I tried my best to write to go with it :) )

What do you think Jack would be the most insecure about when he’s in Ian’s body? I know you mentioned the voice being one thing—
The thing he'd probably be most bothered by is his new height. Ian's a fair bit shorter than Jack, and while you can change a lot of things about yourself through training, height's not really one of those things. It's not too much of an issue - he's still himself and beggars can't be choosers, after all, but it's still a little weird not being able to reach things when he used to be the guy getting stuff down from high shelves for people.

What if they made a reboot of the Sunnytime Crew Show, and Jack/Ian was super excited to try out for his role? 🥺 and the MC is super supportive… what if the tile goes to someone else?
Ooh, devastating. Imagine that, spending so much time trying to get to your role...and they give it away.
At first, Jack pretends to be completely cool with it. Not every audition leads to a successful role, and it's important to lose with grace.
That being said, that's his whole identity and there's nobody more perfect to play him than him.
So, of course, he's there waiting in the wings. Not enough to be obvious, not enough to seem suspicious, but he's there. Perhaps he's making drinks, or helping with catering, or playing personal assistant to the cast...but he's there.
It'd be a real shame if something were to happen to their leading man and nobody was around to replace him on such short notice...
One carefully staged shove down the stairs, followed by him 'desperately' running down after his 'dear friend' who 'tripped' and that role is his.
He's so nice and helpful, and he looks the part, and who else would know the script on such short notice?
It's only natural the role should go to him.

How do you think Jack would react in situations where he’s around people Ian knew in the past (that aren’t MC)? I’d imagine that even though he has a good grasp on the “Ian” character, it’s still a bit stressful to have to pretend to have these memories that you don’t know much about.
It's definitely stressful! But that's what the preparation was all about!
Jack tries to think of it as the world's most high-stakes game of improv. Ian's family and friends are a tough bunch to act 'normal' around - especially Ian's mother, but Jack tries to have confidence in his acting ability that he'll be able to handle it. Before the change, he had Ian tell him all about all the people he knew, under the guise of "Well it's hard to make other friends when you're a ghost tied to one guy, Supernova - so tell me about yours!" Armed with that knowledge, he just has to try and read the room to see what they're expecting him to do in any given situation - after all, your friends are different from your family, and everybody's got at least two personas per the people they hang around. He takes solace in the idea that MC will be waiting for him when it's over if they can't also be there, or there to support him if they can.

I know that you’ve written a bit about how Jack would adjust to the new vocal cords and voice of Ian’s body, but could I request some more HCs about that? Because I’m thinking of him trying to come across as his confident, comforting self, either to MC or for a role, and it’s much harder to come across that way because of how Ian’s body sounds? Maybe he does some voice training?
Absolutely, we can dive into that! :)
There is nothing worse than things not coming out the way you want them to, and for Jack's situation, that feeling is ten times worse, because at first, no matter what he does, he cannot keep that waver out of his new voice, can't seem to make himself loud enough for his own liking, he can't even manage the way his new voice cracks under stress, like some remnant from puberty or something! So he goes for training, claiming it's 'just for a role' - it is! The biggest role he's ever played in fact. It's hard to ask for exactly what he's aiming to sound like, because how do you say 'I want to sound like this guy from this old kids show that got lost to time' and not get laughed out of the room? But he tries his best. As time goes on, he does find himself improving! He's a little impatient about it - he understands these things take time and he's really grateful to his voice coach for helping him out so much, but it's hard to fight the whiny little impulse that says "But I want it now!" The crack is the first thing to go - with more vocal control, he finds his voice cracks less and less, thank goodness, and he can even make it slightly deeper, more the way he used to sound. With the new lower voice comes volume. A mixture of confidence and being able to sound more like himself brings it naturally to him, and soon he is feeling a lot more lively, being able to project his voice properly again instead of that measly attempt at it Ian was used to doing. The final thing is the waver. It outstays its welcome for a good few weeks longer than Jack would've expected it to, but eventually he manages to keep it under control. It doesn't disappear, not entirely, but for the most part it only rears its head when he's talking quietly. And Jack is rarely ever quiet.

Does IanJack ever tell MC about his past as Joseph, or even allude to it?
Well, I suppose it depends on if he even remembers it. If he does, I'm sure it'd come up eventually, but I doubt he'd want to press the matter - that's not who he is now, and it hasn't been who he is for a long time! He's Sunny Day Jack, now and forever! If he doesn't...oh well, it probably wasn't that important.

Oooooh, what if Jack-as-Ian got a role as the host of a kids’ show? I feel like he’d be really happy about that, since that’s what he was doing before and he of course still has the personality for it.
He would be thrilled! Getting back onto kids TV is one step closer to finally being able to take up his dream role as...well, himself! He's sure to give it his absolute all, because he wants everybody to know that sure, he can act in whatever role he needs to, but THIS is the side of things he was born to play. THIS is his typecasting. Once he's got his hold in kids TV again, he might even start flubbing other roles that are less suitable - not enough to ruin him or anything, but enough to make casting directors reconsider trying to have him play 'mature' characters. There's something at the back of his mind, on the tip of his tongue, that sends a shiver down his back and makes his skin crawl at the idea of acting so serious and mature. But it's probably nothing.

I love the idea of Jack and MC having little “remembrance nights” where they toast to Ian! How do you think Jack would respond if the MC told him that they love him more than they could’ve ever loved Ian, that he’s so much better, and that they love him more than they ever thought possible?
I think perhaps there'd be a little bit of tears, blamed first on Ian's own waterworks but then later admitted to wholeheartedly, because it's never a bad thing to cry - it's natural! They're happy tears anyway, and he makes sure MC knows that. There's also pride there - he did this! He made all of this happen! MC adores him! It's perfect! - and an overwhelming feeling of relief and gratitude that it all worked out so nicely. And you know he'll absolutely give as much as he gets - it may or may not turn into an all out affection-war. It's his happily ever after, at last.

What do you think the last few days leading up to the possession were like for Jack? Does he enter Ian’s body at night while he’s asleep, or is it some other time? You mentioned that he really did see Ian as a friend… does he ever try to make those last days extra special for Ian as a thank you for being about to give him his body?
I would say Jack definitely would've tried to make his buddy's last few days absolutely spectacular.
He would've persuaded him to go everywhere, do everything, all under the guise of "It's almost time for the big move, Supernova, you're gonna miss all this stuff if you don't do it now! Why wait til you come home? You're gonna have so much stuff to tell MC when you get there." The day is fun, really fun - and Jack keeps up a smile the whole time, even if he's not actually feeling as cheery as he looks. He IS gonna miss Ian, even if he cheated on the most amazing person in the whole world. He also rescued him from the static - but it's not like he gets to choose whose body he takes. Ian's the only one who can see him, the only one he's SURE he'd be able to do it to. He can't risk trying this on anybody else. It might send him back. He's chattering along excitedly as Ian makes it through airport security, all jokes and helpful info about which stalls are selling the comfiest neck pillows for him to buy for the flight, and which ones are overpricing the snacks (all of them). He only quiets when Ian makes the call to MC, to tell them that he'll be there soon, show them how much they mean to him, after all. Then, they board the plane together, Jack whispers a couple more words of encouragement (even if nobody else can hear him it feels wrong to speak too loudly in such a crowded plane) and Ian slips into a nap - those neck pillows ARE comfy, Jack's right, thanks Jack. Anything for you, Supernova. Only Jack gets off the plane when they touch back down.

So about the Ian AU I was thinking about the person Ian cheated with also being an actor and being cast as a romantic partner after jack takes over. The cheater then takes this opportunity(not knowing about jack) to flaunt kissing Ian in front of mc. Like say there's a romance scene and mc is there to support Jack's acting then mc sees cheater and becomes very insecure.
Oooh, the drama of this, I love it.
Now, let's assume Jack doesn't get to know about the details of this cheat, because if he did, this would never even get to the point of happening. He knows Ian cheated, but nothing about who it was with. So this co-star shows up, acting coy and flirty, and though they don't talk to Jack right away, because he's getting ready for the scene, they're keen to "introduce" themselves to MC who's there watching - (read - absolutely throw in their face that they wrecked their relationship and they're aiming to do it again) and make them all insecure about how this romantic scene is going to go. How well this MC takes this info would vary based on how much they know about the Jack-Ian situation and of course, the MC in question. Jack's finally ready, and of course the co-star bounces over ready to do the scene. Jack glimpses the MC's discomfort - because he's always got at least one eye on them, ESPECIALLY for romantic scenes. He's a kids' actor, he's never had to do this before! He needs the inspiration! - and immediately knows this star is bad news. They greet him like an old pal, too close for comfort, WAY too close, and so of course, he does the best thing he can do without causing a massive scene and disrupting production. "...Gosh, I'm really sorry. Do I know you?"

What do you think it's like for Jack once he's become semi-famous as Ian and decides to go by Jack as his "stage name?" The elation he must feel when he hears paparazzi call him "Jack" for the first time, or when he watches the premiere of something he's in and sees his name listed as "Jack" in the credits...
Oh, the sense of absolute triumph he'd feel is unparalleled - having everybody everywhere call him Jack would be the final nail in the coffin - pardon the dark entendre of that! There's no more "Ian", not to the public, not to MC, not to anybody. The relief of finally, entirely being himself again would be incredible - he's got everything he wanted and there's no more pretending necessary! He finally gets to live the way he's wanted to all along. Thank goodness.

Could I request some headcanons for after Jack in Ian's body becomes a successful actor, him being all sweet and lovey-dovey in public with his Sunshine? They go to all the premiers with him, he loves to show them off and talk about how much he loves them in interviews... I'd imagine that all of Jack's fans see them as such a cute couple!
That's got to be one of Jack's favourite perks of having a physical form - being able to actually be seen in public with his Sunshine! And oh, he basks in that.
He makes sure every time they go on an outdoor date, it's in public. They're wearing matching colours, they are holding hands, the whole nine miles of cute celeb couples. He tries his best to hide the cameras from MC - he wants their photo to be one where they're authentically smitten, not awkwardly guarding their expression from the paparazzi. He'll be glad to greet fans that are bold enough to approach for an autograph too - he treats all of them like they're dear friends to him, but he's careful to stay outwardly bashful too. No confidence, just a sweet guy who'd do anything for his fans and the one he loves. If MC's up for it, he might even introduce them to his fans too! He's only showing off a little, he promises. When it's time for movie premiers, award season, rich-person parties he's invited to, MC is always at his side. He insists on it, even. He wants them to have everything they deserve, and it's one of the few things he'll allow himself to be loud about while still playing his Ian persona. He'll talk forever in interviews, then excuse it with a little laugh and an apology about getting carried away, or a question of "Was that too much..?" It's never too much.

Could you write some headcanons about how Jack would try to be super romantic and sweet to try and win the MC over? 🥺
Sure!
Jack is never one to shy away from a fun challenge. He's also never one to avoid telling someone how much they mean to him. Combine the two and you get a man who just Will Not Shut Up. (But in a good way.) He'd be singing the MC's praises all night and day, ENDLESS compliments. Flowers and gifts and "Well I saw this and I thought of you, so I had to get it for you! Don't ask about the price, it's worth it because it's you." abound. Chores and housework? Consider it Done. Doesn't Jack also have work to do? Yes. Not as important. He knows exactly how to figure out what the MC wants, how to give it, and then how to give some more based on that. It is an all-out attack, and there's nothing MC can do to stop it.
