As a photographer, it's one thing to take pictures, but it's another to have them printed out in space around you. I am so excited to have these up in my office. Not a simple process either! 😀 1) I tried to choose photos that really connected with me and what I try to capture as a photographer: marches, rallies, protests... (I'll list the 7 different events in the descriptions). 2) I got them printed on cardstock through Shutterfly. They have specials for 4 free (pay shipping) every month or so. 3) I went to the Dollar Store for a selection of frames. Glass and everything for a buck! 4) I surfed to find examples and to figure how best to utilize space and arrange 11 horizontal and 1 vertical frames. 5) I finally brought a hammer, small nails, and a level and worked to semi-align them. So much to say about this amazing lunch. The first picture is of Ryan and Lindsay and family. I got to work with them in ResEd 16 years ago. So WONDERFUL to reconnect in person and meet their children. They are an excellent couple and family. I run out of superlatives. Next pix is of one of the sandwiches we had at Picasso's in Erie, the "Lee Roslyn," made with ham, cheddar, and a TWINKIE. Delicious. So creative with their sandwiches, and their hospitality was much appreciated. Final pic is a screenshot of a review of Picasso's. If you're in Erie, gotta try it. "Late Bloomers" I took these a couple weekends ago, just before the freezing temperatures and flurries here. It was a sunny day, but had continued the early cold weather of November. I tried to include in the frame the rest of the plant - dying, brown, dried up. Still, these blooms came. Defying whatever internal plant messages that were sent, and showing off their colors. Attended an amazing inter-faith solidarity shabbat with the B'nai Jeshurun Congregation to stand in solidarity with the Jews of Pittsburgh and the African-American community in response to the murders last week at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh and the Kroger’s in Kentucky. Faith & community leaders called for peace, solidarity, and rebuilding the fabric of our country, as well as direct action at the polls this Tuesday. They reminded us that we needed each other all the time, not just in response to tragic situations like this. When the sun sets earlier and earlier, I love the tradition of exterior lights. I call them our "solstice lights" since they are more about the weather and lack of daylight than Christmas. This way I can keep them up long into the winter as well, not just a few weeks after the holiday.
