'Raegalianis Drakyx, or Rae, is the newest member of the Guardians and the new leader of Fireteam Paralight. But with her being the last of her kind with only a journal as a key to her past, a Fireteam that can't be any more different than each other, and the Darkness lurking at every corner, will Rae even stand a chance?'

UPDATE - An End and a New Beginning
It is with a heavy heart that I announce this series will not be continuing. College had me burnt out since last year and left me unable to write for the series. So unfortunately I will be bidding this series farewell...
 HOWEVER!
A new Destiny series is in the works. During my break from Changing Our Destiny, I was able to become a better writer and saw parts of the series I wasn't happy with. So I will be completely overhauling the series under a new name and will be posting it on my main page: @soulslayer2020. Now that I am free from college, I will have more time to do so.
Thank you so much for supporting this series and I'll see you starside!

Nightlight Part 2: Stress
Summary:
As it’s revealed that not everyone in the Last City is willing to accept the House of Light within their walls, tensions begin to rise. But just as things feel like they can’t get any worse...
Tumblr media
Previous Part: Here
Next Part: Coming Soon…
“Don’t get me wrong, I hate the Vex. But they have great taste in aesthetics!” Blaze said as she and the rest of Paralight hopped from platform to platform. “Watch out!” Rae yelled. “Huh- WHOA!!” Blaze skid to a halt upon seeing they had run out of platform, narrowly avoiding falling into the abyss, “That was close. Thanks, Rae.”
“Hold fast, Guardians.” Mithrax’s voice came through the comms, “I will alter the fabric of this Vex system to aid you.”
“Much obliged, Mithrax-kell.” Rae replied. “I don’t think I’ll ever not be surprised by splicers.” Blaze spoke as the small group of Guardians pushed forward, “I mean, I shouldn’t be surprised that splicers can mess with Vex stuff – they are machines after all – but it’s still impressive.”
“I know, right?” Tif beamed, “I remember when Misraaks first showed me his abilities. It’s so cool!”
“Speaking of so cool…” Blaze smirked upon spotting a Vex launch sphere before sprinting at it, letting herself be launched forward, “WHEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeee……...!!!”
Crow chuckled as he watched his fellow Awoken Hunter go soaring off into the air before face-planting onto the platform across the way, giving a thumbs up to the group shortly afterwards. “You’re crazy if you think I’ll let you have all the fun.” Crow called as he followed suit, tripping over and falling onto Blaze upon landing. “They’re idiots.” Rae laughed. “But they’re our idiots.” Adam added. “So, let’s be idiots together!” Tif finished as she flopped onto the launch pad, Adam following suit. Rae sighed with a smile as she muttered to herself, “The heroes of the system, ladies and gentlemen.”

 “Tif has a weird habit of getting piggyback rides from the enemies they’re trying to kill…”
“I mean…it works, so why change it?”
“Fair.”
“We’re here.”
Everyone transmatted down into the Botza Ruins in the Last City, which had been transformed into a camp for the House of Light refugees. Ikora had offered Mithrax and his house shelter in the city in exchange for aid in dealing with the eternal night. In the centre of the courtyard, Rae could see Mithrax and Tif discussing something with Osiris and Lakshmi-2, the latter Rae was surprised to see. Upon getting closer, Rae noticed Tif seeming uncomfortable as they stared at Lakshmi. “Lakshmi’s here. Greeeeeaaaaat…” Blaze groaned. “Is something wrong?” Crow asked. “Lakshmi and Blaze have a…unique…would ‘rivalry’ even be the right word?” Adam asked, scratching the back of his neck. “She thinks my future vision is bs.” Blaze replied, “I don’t even care about my future vision – I haven’t even gotten a vision since like…3 years ago, I think? I dunno. It’s her attitude I hate. Her whole ‘holier than thou’ mentality.”
“She’s that bad?” Crow turned to Rae. “She’s…a little much at times. And a little creepy.” Rae muttered the last part before speaking up again, “Let’s, uh…go see what’s up.”
As the four Guardians got closer, they could begin to hear the conversation.
“My people shelter beneath the Great Machine.” Mithrax began, “This is beyond simple generosity. I must thank Ikora for her gift.”
“This sanctuary is not granted by Ikora alone, but by all who live in the Last City.” Lakshmi replied before Osiris interjected, “Yes, and on their behalf, let me extend a welcome. I am Osiris, and this is Lakshmi-2, Future War Cult leader and City representative. And I believe you both are already well acquainted with Fireteam Paralight.” Osiris nodded towards the approaching Fireteam, acknowledging their presence. “My greatest appreciations to you all. The House of Light thanks you.” Mithrax thanked. “Your House can best show gratitude by keeping to itself.” Lakshmi replied harshly, “I know your assistance with the Vex will benefit us all, but not everyone in the city is so open-minded.”
“I think your voice box needs to be checked out, Lakshmi. That sounded like a threat.” Blaze said with a dead-pan expression before being elbowed by Rae, “Ow! What?! Just sayin’.” Lakshmi seemed to glare at Blaze for a brief moment before turning back to Mithrax and Tif, “You appear to be settling in. I will leave you to it.”
“If you require further help from us, you must only ask.” Osiris added. “We shall.” Tif spoke up, “There are several modifications we will need for stable Ether production.” Rae seemed surprised at Tif. It seemed like they were a completely different person. Instead of their usual relaxed posture and somewhat air-headed smile, Tif was standing up straight with their hands neatly folded behind their back and a serious expression on their face. They spoke in a polite and respectful tone which was completely different to Tif’s upbeat and peppy tone. “Submit a proposal to Ikora. She seems willing to get you anything you need.” Lakshmi replied, “I must return to the people in the city. Future War Cult has foreseen great misery for them in the days ahead and they will need an advocate. I often forget how highly those in the Tower have placed themselves.” Rae noticed Lakshmi glance at her as she said the last part before continuing, “The air is thin there. Best not to breathe too much of it.” And with that, Lakshmi transmatted out of the ruins. “If I may speak freely,” Tif began, dropping their demeanour, “She’s super creepy and kinda mean…”
“You must understand, this situation is tense for us all, young Titan.” Osiris began, “This encampment perches on the edge of decree and democracy. I hope your stay with us will be…uneventful.”
“As do we.” Tif sighed as Osiris left. “I’m just saying,” Blaze began in a hushed tone, “If you guys wanna ‘accidentally’ blow up the FWC room, I know two rogues who could make it look like-”
“Blaze!” Rae said in a warning tone as she frowned at Blaze. “Kidding! I’m kidding!”
“Sure…” Rae sighed. “Do not worry, Raekel.” Mithrax began, “My people have no intention of causing trouble while we are here. We will do all we can to aid in freeing the Last City from this eternal night.”
Rae seemed caught off guard by the title, but gave a humble smile, “I’m glad to hear it. I look forward to working together again, Mithrax-kell.”
“Don’t worry, Rae! This is an alliance House Light has wanted for a long time. We’ll show the Vanguard their trust wasn’t misplaced! Hus shan, hus den!”
“Hus shan, hus den.” Rae nodded.
‘Yeah…yeah we can do this! If we work together, we can do anything!’
 ~
 “SON. OF. A. TRAVELER. DAMN. HIVE. MAGGOT. WHY?!”
“Uhhh…is she ok?” Tif asked with a worried expression as she stood outside the meeting room aboard the Helm with the rest of the Vanguard and Paralight.
“Oh dear. Rae having a mental breakdown?”
Everyone turned to see Marcia and Drifter approaching from down the hall. “It was bound to happen sooner or later.” Drifter chuckled, folding his arms, “I’m surprised it took the kid this long. I was certain she’d break around the time Moondust found the Pyramids up on ol’ Luna.”
“Not helping, you two.” Blaze groaned. Cayde walked up to the door and gently knocked, “Sunrae? You good?”
“…”
“…”
“…no...”
“You overstressed yourself again, didn’t you?”
“…maybe…”
“Want a hug and tea?”
“…yes…”
Cayde slowly opened the door to reveal Rae sitting at the meeting room table with her head down in defeat as a concerned Ghost floated around her. “Thank the Light you’re here.” He began, “I was worried that if she kept going, I’d have to revive her. And before you ask, no I will not repeat some of the things I’ve heard over the past 15 minutes. I didn’t even know half of the words she said were words…”
“That bad, huh?”
“Lakshmi…FWC…Vex…City………heeeelp…”
“Alright, c’mere Sunrae.” Cayde sat beside her and gave her a side hug, “You gotta stop overstressin’, y’know. Otherwise, you’ll end up like Zavala, Ikora and Osiris.”
“What do you mean?” Rae looked up from where her head was resting on the table. “They kept stressin’ over stuff and now look at ‘em. They stressed so much that their hair fell out! Ikora bare held on to hers and Osiris was only able to hold onto his beard!”
“W-what…?” Rae tried to withhold a giggle as Blaze, Crow, Marcia and Drifter tried not to laugh at Ikora and Zavala’s unimpressed faces. “Yep! In fact, it’s already starting. You have bald spots riiiiiight…here!!” Cayde started messing up Rae’s short brown and plum locks. Rae couldn’t help but laugh as she struggled against Cayde’s never ending hair-tussling. “What about you then?” Rae giggled as Cayde finally began to let up, “Did you lose your hair?”
“Oh, yeah. I had absolutely be-yew-tiful golden locks that attracted all the ladies! But I got straddled with Vanguard duty and POOF! All gone!” This earned another laugh from the Stasis Vanguard.
Rae took a breath, finally calming down from both the laughing fit and her stress. Her attention was brought back to the table as a teacup was placed in front of her. But instead of Ikora, it was Marcia handing her the tea, looking to the side, “H-hey, don’t look at me like that, ‘kay? I can make tea too, y’know.” While Cayde was cheering up Rae, Marcia used that time to make tea using the set Ikora usually kept in the meeting room.
“Thanks.” Rae smiled. “W-whatever…” Marcia muttered.
 “Um…am I interruptin’ something?”
Everyone turned to see a familiar brown-haired human Hunter with a long poncho. “Azzy!!!” Tif ran and Azara and hugged her tightly, picking her up and spinning her around in the process – something that was very comical to watch since Tif was two inches shorter than Azara. “Hey, Tiffy!” Azara chuckled as she was set down by the Titan, “Hey, y’all. Long time, no see.”
“Azara? What are you doing here?” Rae asked. “Found out Tif was livin’ here with you guys. Figured I’d come say hi.”
“You…” Marcia began, a wary look in her eye, “You’re Phyonysian, aren’t you?”
“Yup. But don’t worry about it. I’m not with the others.” Azara shrugged, “Got the hell outta there quickly. Too extreme for my taste.”
“If they trust you, fine. But I got my eye on you.”
“Duly noted.”
“Well…” Marica stretched before walking towards the door, “I’ll leave you guys to your boring Vanguard stuff. I’m goin’ down to the Annex for some air. Comin’ Drifter?”
“Nah. Got some stuff to handle for a bit. Might join ya after.” Drifter replied.
“Suit yourself. See y’all. Try not to go insane from the stress.”
“No promises!” Rae yelled after her as Marcia disappeared from around the corner, Drifter following suit not long after.
 ~
 The meeting had gone on for a while now. FWC had been suspected of causing trouble for the Eliksni as damage had been caused to their encampment. Thankfully, after a lot of tension and consideration, Saint-14 declared himself an ally of the House of Light which was reassuring to Rae and Tif both. According to Tif, Saint had been told as a scary bedtime story to young Eliksni. But to the Eliksni who were present at Twilight Gap, he was a nightmare turned reality, making it somewhat relieving that he was now an ally to them. Lakshmi, on the other hand, was seeming to become more and more hostile to the Eliksni. She claims that she saw a vision that the Eliksni would bring ruin to the Last City and was trying to rally the city folk against the Vanguard.
“She’s not making our job any easier…” Rae sighed. “Agreed.” Zavala sighed, “Unfortunately, the best thing we can do is show the people that we are doing out best. We keep fighting and put the safety of the city above all else.”
“Agreed.” Ikora noticed, “In other-”
“ARGH!!!”
Out of nowhere, Blaze fell out of her chair, clutching her head in pain. “Blaze!” Crow leapt up from where he was sitting and rushed to Blaze’s side. “What’s happening?!” Tif exclaimed. “I’ve seen this before.” Firefly whimpered as she appeared hovering over Blaze, “She’s having a vision!”
“So that’s her ability…” Azara muttered. Before Rae could question what Azara meant, Blaze let out a large gasp as she sat up with a terrified expression. “What is it? What did you see?” Rae asked. Blaze looked up at Rae with horror in her eyes.
 “Marcia’s in danger.”

Nightlight Part 1: Endless Night
Summary:
Fireteam Paralight awake to the Last City being plunged into darkness with the sun nowhere in sight. Ikora and Osiris have no doubt about it being the Vex's doing but with no answers on how to fix it, they turn to unlikely allies for them but familiar allies to Paralight: Mithrax and Tif of House Light.
Tumblr media
Next Part: Here
“I know I said to ‘party until the sun rises’…but this is NOT what I meant.”
Cayde and Fireteam Paralight all stood at the Helm’s front window at the endless night sky…at 11am. The sun hadn’t risen at all that morning with strange glitch-like wisps in the air. Rae let out a sigh, “Can…can someone pass me that cushion over there?”
“Oh, sure.” Crow picked up a nearby cushion resting on the war table and handed it to the Stasis Vanguard. “Thank you.” Rae calmly accepted the cushion and held it to her face before letting out a stressed and frustrated scream into the pillow. As her scream faded, Adam hesitantly spoke, “Are…are you ok, Rae?”
“My stress levels are PERFECTLY healthy, guys!” Rae said with a forced grin. “Uh huh…sure…” Blaze scooted away from Rae a bit as the sound of footsteps approached. Zavala and Ikora entered the Helm. “Thank you for coming on short notice.” Ikora began. “Figured we’d be called up here at some stage.” Blaze replied, “Usually when things take a turn for the crazy, we’re the ones that are called. And the sun being gone is kinda hard to miss.”
“Very true. With that said, allow me to deliver your briefing.” Ikora began, “As you saw, for the first time in humanity’s long and storied history, the sun did not rise. Osiris tells me it’s a Vex simulation that has plunged the City into an endless night. It seems they’ve found a way to harness our energy against us. And even in all his wisdom, Osiris can offer no solution.”
“To do something like this to the Last City…” Cayde muttered, “Whatever the Vex are planning, they’re confident enough to target our home turf.”
“That or they’re becoming desperate.” Zavala added. “The Vex rely on logic. Whatever their plan is, the chances of success for them are high enough for them to execute it.” Rae chimed in. “Rae’s right.” Ikora agreed, “I don’t know what will happen if we can’t break the Vex’s hold over the City. I do know that we must protect our people, no matter the cost.”
“Agreed.” Adam nodded. “So, what’s the plan? How’re we gonna pry the Vex’s robo-hands off the City?” Blaze asked. “The Vex are machines…” Ikora replied, “And no one understands machines better than the Eliksni. Osiris and I could only think of one we might turn to. And I believe you’re acquainted with him and one of his captains.”
“Wait…you mean…?” Rae perked up in realisation. Ikora nodded, “Mithrax, Kell of House Light. My spies report he claims to be among the last Sacred Splicers; those with the power to commune with machines. He may be our best and only hope.”
“I didn’t know he was a Splicer.” Rae muttered, “He never made it obvious during the times we met him and Tif never mentioned it either.”
“It makes sense that he would try to keep it hidden.” Crow replied, “House Dusk and the remnants of Salvation would find the abilities of Splicers useful against their enemies.”
“Hmm…fair point.” Rae said before turning back to Ikora, “Do we have any information on his location?”
“My Hidden report that both Mithrax and Tifawt were last seen on Europa, helping Variks evacuate Eliksni defectors.” Ikora explained, “Both the Vex and Eramis’s loyalists are down there hunting for survivors, shooting anything that moves. Be sure to shoot back. We need Mithrax alive if he’s to help us with our Vex problem.”
“Right.” Rae turned to her Fireteam, “You heard Ikora. Let’s hit the skies.”
“Yes ma’am!”
Fireteam Paralight hurried out of the Helm. Cayde went to follow but was stopped by Ikora. “No. You’re still in trouble for the last time you snuck out. Besides, we need all the help we can get for crowd control.”
Rae couldn’t help but feel sorry for Cayde as she heard his disappointed groan from down the hall.
~
“Oh, the Vex outside are frightful~ But the Light is so delightful~ Knock them down, blow-by-blow~ Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow~”
Blaze sang to herself as she shot down Vex after Vex with Firelight. “Nice Dawning carol.” Crow chuckled as he fired a round from Hawkmoon into a hobgoblin, “You should remember them for this year.”
“I’m already working on ‘Sainta Claus is coming to Tower’!”
Crow let out an amused snort at Blaze’s pun as Rae tuned into her comms, “Ikora, any luck on locating Mithrax?”
“You’re closing in on some residual signals. It could be Eliksni bound for House Light…or it could be more of Eramis’s loyalists.” Ikora replied. “I think I see an entrance in the ice.” Adam yelled from several feet away. “Let’s go say Velask.” Rae said as she slid down the ice into the hideout. The four Guardians landed with a faint clang onto the metal plating of the hideout. “Velask? It’s Fireteam Paralight. Is anyone here?” Rae called out before contacting Ikora again, “Empty. Looks like the Eliksni cleared out before the Vex showed up.”
“See if you can learn where they’re headed.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
“Over here!”
Rae looked up to see Blaze by an Eliksni terminal with Crow typing away at it. “I think we found something. Some sort of looped audio recording.”
“I’ll patch it through to Ikora as well.” Crow added as he played the audio.
“-over their possessions. Trigger message repeat. This is Misraaks. To those who renounce the violence of House Salvation and seek refuge in the House of Light, I will be landing a Skiff near Asterion Abyss. Bring only what you need. We must prioritise survivors over their possessions. Trigger message repeat.”
“Asterion Abyss. That’s their rendezvous point.” Ikora began, “A single Skiff recently touched down near your position. It’s got to be Mithrax. Hurry, before he takes off.”
“Uhh…we should hurry but I don’t think he’ll be taking off.” Adam said as he stood near a cave opening looking over Asterion Abyss. In the middle of the ice and snow was a crashed ship with smoke emerging from it. “Oh no…we gotta hurry!” Rae exclaimed as she began to climb up the ice with the rest of the Fireteam not far behind. As soon as they were on smoother turf, the four Guardians summoned their Sparrows and began to speed across the snow towards the downed Skiff. “Mithrax sure is wrapped up in dangerous business, huh?” Blaze muttered. “It’s a bad time to ask for a favour, true.” Ikora replied, “But he and his House of Light still worship the Traveller. And due to your previous interactions with him and Tifawt, he’ll trust you more than the rest of us.”
“I just hope we’re not too late.” Rae sighed, “The second we get there, we secure the crash site and help any Eliksni that might have survived.”
“Crow and I can handle any Vex or Salvationists that are around while you and Adam can protect and heal survivors.” Blaze added.
“Sounds like a plan. Let’s move!”
Upon arriving at the downed Skiff, all that remained was the smouldering wreckage, Eliksni bodies, and Vex swarming the ship. Rae prepared to shoot at the Vex with Lumina when-
 “HUS NE, SHER BA!!!”
A hobgoblin that was standing atop the wreckage was suddenly shoved off by an Eliksni captain from behind with two goblins that were standing either side of it getting sliced by arc blades. The captain wore purple, blue and grey armour with the usual furry mantle at the back and the back spikes. The armour looked slightly different to a standard captain’s, mainly the boots and gloves. That’s when Rae realised it. Only one set of arms. Short for a captain. And the last piece of evidence came when the captain punched a harpy with a Stasis-covered fist.
“Tif!” Rae exclaimed with a smile. As the last Vex fell, the captain spun around at Rae’s yell, only seeming to notice the Guardians’ presence just then. “Paralight!” The familiar voice of Tif came from behind the captain-esque helmet of the Titan. Tif ran up to Rae and hugged her, lifting the Warlock off the ground slightly as they did so, “Oh my Traveller, your timing couldn’t be better! We’re trying to evacuate Salvation defectors but the Vex-”
“We know. We actually came here looking for you and Mithrax.” Rae explained. “Wait. Really?” Tif cocked their head to the side before shaking it, “There’s no time to wonder. Misraaks is keeping the refugees safe but I don’t know for how much longer they’ll last. Please hurry!”
“Lead the way.” Rae nodded. “Berhane?” Tif began. “Pike is at the ready!” Berhane chirped as a Pike appeared beside the Titan. “Follow me!” Tif yelled as they hopped on and sped across the icy tundra, Rae and co. in tow.
Visibility decreased slightly as an icy wind blew in. “We should be close.” Tif yelled as they came to a stop, “Misraakskel, are you there? Paralight are here!” As Tif called out, Mithrax emerged from a nearby cave. He wore different attire compared to the last time Rae had met up with them. His upper right arm was heavily mechanised, and he wore a grey and purple helm. “Guardians, I find you in the Light.” Mithrax greeted, “And on your signal…Ikora Rey?”
“Mithrax-kell, it is an honour. We have been searching for you for a long time.” Ikora greeted from the comms. “This is known. You are not the only one with hidden eyes.” Mithrax nodded, “Many enemies pursue my House of Light. We did not wish to be found.”
“Then times are desperate for us all.” Rae chimed in, “The Vanguard need your help.”
“Oh yeah…the Vex have been messing with the City, right?” Tif began. “You know about that?” Blaze asked with surprise. “Yes. Vex systems pulse with talk of the City’s Endless Night…but my people demand much protection.” Mithrax explained, “If Paralight could assist Tif and I in blinding the Vex here, we can speak more without risking bloodshed.”
“Blinding the Vex…we’ll do whatever you need, Mithrax-kell.” Rae nodded. Mithrax motioned for the Guardians to follow as he ran to a large clearing in the ice. He held out his mechanical arm that began to glow as a sudden pulse of Vex energy opened up a hole in the ice, “I have opened the door for you, Guardian. Will you walk the path of the Sacred Splicer?”
The four Guardians glanced at each other before nodding. “We’re ready.” Rae replied. “You might wanna hold onto your tummies!” Tif suggested, “I did this once and it gets weird. WHOOHOO!!!” Tif jumped cannonball-style into the hole with Fireteam Paralight jumping in after them. In a flash of light, the Guardians found themselves slowly descending onto a series of teal, geometric platforms in a vast purple void filled with geometric creations emerging from below. “Is this…some sort of Vex simulation?” Rae asked as they touched down. “The path before you is no illusion.” Mithrax explained through the comms, “You venture through the Vex domain itself, where the machines guard their most precious secrets. I will clear the way. Tifawt, can I count on you to guide the Guardians?”
“Yes, Misraakskel!” Tif responded with a smile.
“Very well. Good luck, Guardians.”
Rae looked out at the vast space before her and sighed, “Alright. Let’s start the crazy.”

Guardian Games Finale: Victory!
Summary:
A two-part special.
The Guardian Games have ended and it's time to announce the victors! With the rivalry that has blossomed this year between the Warlocks and Hunters, this year's winners are hard to guess. Will it be the arcane-wielding Warlocks or the stealth-mastering Hunters? Or will the Titans sneak up from behind and once again claim victory?
Tumblr media
Previous Part: Here
“Blaze, quit pacin’. You’re almost makin’ me nervous. Almost.”
The Tower courtyard was crowded with Guardians of all classes, waiting in front of the Guardian Games podium which had all flags lowered. Among them was Fireteam Cayde’s Chaos Crew: Cayde, Rae, Blaze, Crow, and Marcia. Cayde and Rae were on the podium with Zavala, Ikora and Eva while the rest of the Fireteam were in the crowd with Adam. “Sorry but I can’t help it!” Blaze replied, ceasing her pacing, “I wanna see the results already!”
“You can’t blame her.” Crow chimed in, “From what I’ve gathered, the Warlocks and Hunters were neck and neck most of the time.”
“You’re not wrong.” Marcia folded her arms behind her head, “Drifter said most of the bets he got in were for Hunters and Warlocks. I guess Cayde and Rae’s lil’ stunt worked.”
“I think they’re about to start.” Adam whispered as the crowd quieted down and Eva took to the mic. “Hello everyone, and welcome to the closing ceremony of the Guardian Games!” Eva began with a smile, “From what I’ve heard from Drifter, Shaxx, Saint, Saladin, and your Vanguards, all of you have been working hard to represent your classes and we are all very proud of you. No matter what the flags may determine, you are all winners in your Vanguards’ eyes.” A round of applause erupted amongst the crowd, some of the Guardians high-fiving and patting each other on the back. “With that all said,” Eva continued, “It is time to announce the winners of this year’s games. Release the flags!” The Vanguard stood on the platforms in front of each of their flags, a faint glow emitting from the platforms, Rae joining Cayde on the Hunter platform. An anxious hush fell over the crowd as the flags began to rise.
The Titans’ flag was the first to stop. A bronze laurel hologram appeared over Zavala and the other Titans’ heads, earning a few sad groans from some of the Titans in the crowd.
There was a brief air of tension as the last two flags continued to rise. The moment felt like eternity as the Warlocks and Hunters waited to see which flag would stop first.
The Warlock flag was the second to stop.
A thunderous cheer so loud, it could be heard in the Last City as the Hunter flag continued to rise before stopping at the top. A silver laurel appeared over Ikora and the Warlocks’ heads while a gold one appeared over Cayde, Rae and the Hunters’. Cayde and Rae wrapped an arm around each other’s shoulders while cheering as Zavala and Ikora applauded their victory, an amused smile on their faces. Marcia grabbed Blaze and Crow’s arms as she stormed the podium with them, tackling Cayde and Rae into a dogpile. Eva couldn’t help but laugh at the display as Zavala took to the mic, amusement in his voice, “Congratulations on your victory, Hunters. As you can see, your Vanguard is very proud.”
A thumbs up from Cayde emerged from the dogpile, earning laughter from the crowd. “As for the rest of you, Titans, Warlocks, Ikora and I are proud of your hard work. The past year has not been easy on anyone and this moment of rest is well deserved. I’d hand the mic over to the victors’ Vanguard but…it looks like he has his hands full over there…”
Cayde managed to wiggle his way out of the pile as he got to his feet and jogged over to Zavala taking the mic, “Sorry about that! Hunters, what can I say except congratulations? You all came in clutch this year and took the games by storm! Warlocks, sorry for taking Sunrae away from you but you still managed to give us a run for our money and that silver is well deserved! Titans, sorry to dethrone you…okay, I’m not really that sorry but ‘ey, you did great. Hunters were just that little bit better this year and we look forward to next years’ games Enjoy your victory, Hunters! And to all Guardians, party ‘til the sun rises!”
Everyone cheered as the crowd began to disperse, talking about their plans to celebrate their positions. “A little more warning next time you do that, Marcia?” Crow chuckled as everyone got up from the dogpile.
“Sorry. Got excited.” Marcia beamed.
“You’re not really sorry, are you?” Blaze folded her arms with a smirk.
“Nope!”
Rae rolled her eyes with a smile at the three Hunters’ banter as Ikora approached from behind, “Congratulations on your victory.”
“Thanks, Teach.” Rae smiled, “But I was secretly cheering for the Warlocks while I was out there.”
“Well, next year we’ll have you back on our side. Victory will be inevitable then.”
“You think I could get Cayde to be a Warlock for next year’s games?”
“I can hear you over there and I am not wearing a dress!” Cayde called over from his side of the podium. “They’re not dresses, they’re robes!!” Rae yelled back, earning a light chuckle from Ikora, “Don’t worry. We’ll find a way to trick him.”
“Who would lead the Hunters though?” Rae asked. The two Warlocks slowly looked at the three Hunters.
“I feel like any of them would result in eternal chaos.” Rae muttered.
“I don’t know. Crow might be a reliable choice.” Ikora replied, “But Blaze and Marcia would definitely be…unwise.”
“Understatement of the century.”
“True.”
“Yo, Rae!” Marcia called over, “We’re getting Spicy Ramen to celebrate your last night of being a Hunter. You comin’?”
“I’m coming!” Rae yelled back before turning back to Ikora, “I’ll see you tomorrow, Ikora.”
“Enjoy your victory, Rae. You’ve earned it.”
“Rae! Cayde and Crow are arguing about ramen noodles looking like worms again!” Blaze yelled from behind.
“They do!”
“Crow, you’re a good guy. But there is no way something as delicious as ramen can be compared to worms!”
“I’m not saying that it’s not delicious! I’m saying that it looks like worms!”
“It doesn’t!”
“Rae, heeeelp!!”
Rae sighed, “I feel like my babysitting duties have tripled since I became a Hunter.”
“And that is why you will never catch me wearing a cloak. I don’t have the same amount of patience you do.” Ikora chuckled before walking away as Rae caught up with the rest of the Hunters who were ready to celebrate until the night ended.
Little did they know that the night would not end…

"This is an alliance House Light has wanted for a long time. We'll show the Vanguard their trust wasn't misplaced! Hus shan, hus den!"
Just as Fireteam Paralight think they'll get a small breather after their ordeal with Caitl, they awake to see that the Vex have plunged the Last City into an endless night. Now the Vanguard turn to a group of allies that are new to some but very familiar to Rae and co.: the House of Light. Mithrax, one of the last sacred splicers, holds the key to combating the Vex and ending the eternal twilight plaguing the city. With Tif eager to help form an alliance between their house and the Guardians, Fireteam Paralight prepare to access the Vex network and bring sunlight back to the Last City before unwanted guests use it to their advantage...
I can't tell what I'm most excited for this season! Ikora action, Mithrax finally getting the love and attention he deserves, ELIKSNI BABIEZ!!! I'm still writing Firestorm, don't worry! But I'm hoping to weave in the plot of Past Thorns with Season of the Splicer. Also, I love Mithrax's look for this season!
...so naturally I'm gonna give Tif a new look too!
Tumblr media
Tada! Our smol bean captain is ready for action, now bearing the House Light symbol with a bit of Stasis-inspired flair thrown in. Their armour is now more like a captain's while still maintaining some Guardian-esque qualities. I can't wait to play the new season (so glad I bought an extra 1000 silver when buying some for Season of the Hunt!) and I can't wait to start writing this next entry in Changing Our Destiny. See y'all May 11th!!
~Soul
(P.S: Keep up the great work in the Guardian Games, Hunters!!!)

Guardian Games Part 1: A Secret Weapon
Summary:
A two-part special.
The Guardian Games have arrived! Determined to make up for the Hunters’ defeat last year, Blaze, Crow, and Marcia are all set for this year’s events. But after Marcia shares news about Cayde having a secret weapon for this year, the three Hunters can’t help but be curious as to what the wildcard Vanguard has in store...
Tumblr media
Next Part: Here
It was a crisp early spring morning in the Last City. Despite the early hour, the Tower was bustling with Guardians, all excited for this year’s Guardian Games. Some were having friendly debates with their Fireteammates as to which class would win this year, some were grabbing bounties from the vendors to prepare for the events, Tess was busy handing out this year’s ornaments and armour for the games. On the platform overlooking the courtyard, Blaze was doing crunches on a railing with Crow counting beside her (but really, he was making sure she didn’t fall and hurt herself), “98. 99. 100-” “What are you up to now?” Blaze paused her workout as Marcia approached the two Hunters. “Hey, Marcia!” Blaze greeted as she pulled herself up with help from Crow, “Just getting ready for the games. Hunters are gonna win this year for sure!” “Usually, I stay out of Tower stuff. But after last year’s humiliation,” Marcia smirked, “I’m in.” “Aw, yeah!” Blaze cheered as Crow chuckled, “With that amount of energy, Eva might need extra material for the Hunter banner.” “That reminds me, did Cayde tell you about his ‘secret weapon’?” Marcia asked. “No. He has a secret weapon?” Blaze seemed utterly confused at the statement. “Yeah. He said it’s been in the works since January and he’s gonna unveil it today. Every Hunter I’ve asked has no clue. Hell, even Shiro has no idea. Thought you two might know.” A sharp whistle from down below interrupted the conversation. “Hey, you three! Get down here, it’s go time!” Cayde yelled as the Vanguard alongside other Guardians stepped onto the podium to begin the opening ceremony. “Well, looks like we’re about to find out.” Blaze shrugged as she made her way towards the stairs. Marcia shot a glance at Crow and she could’ve sworn she saw the Kinderguardian smirk.
Cayde, Marcia, Blaze and Crow joined the others on the podium. Zavala was talking to Eva about the games while Adam and Saladin were being blasted by Shaxx giving a motivational speech. As they stepped onto the platform, they were approached by Ikora and Osiris. “Have any of you seen Rae?” Ikora asked. “I thought she’d be with you. Is she on the Helm?” Blaze asked. “No, I just came back from there.” Osiris replied. “This is very strange. It’s not like Rae to miss an event like this.” Ikora muttered. “Maybe she got caught up with a meeting with the Stranger.” Marcia suggested. “No, her ship was in the hangar this morning.” Crow added. “I’m sure she’ll show up soon.” Cayde shrugged, “Let’s get this show on the road!” The exo excitedly trotted up to the Hunter banner. “Cayde’s not even concerned? Something’s definitely up…” Blaze muttered as everyone took their places on the podium. Eva took the mic and began to speak, “Welcome everyone to this year’s Guardian Games. It’s wonderful to see so many Guardians excited to take part.” As Eva continued her opening speech, Blaze felt Marcia nudge her elbow. Blaze glanced at Marcia who motioned over to Cayde with her head. Beside him was a masked Hunter than neither of them recognised. “Who is that…?” Blaze whispered. “No clue. A Kinderguardian maybe?” Marcia replied in a hushed tone. “Why would-?” The two were interrupted by Saladin giving Blaze a nudge and signalling for them to be quiet. “With all that said,” Eva smiled, coming to the end of her speech, “Let the Guardian Games begin!” The crowd erupted into cheers and applause. But before they could disperse, Eva handed the microphone to Cayde. “Before you go!” Cayde began, “If I could have your attention for a brief moment.” The Guardians looked at each other with confused expressions as Cayde continued, “So a few months back, I had a bet with someone. I know, I know. ‘Cayde making bets? Big surprise!’ But basically, it was over a Hunter vs another class match and whichever side won, the other Guardian had to switch teams for the Guardian Games.” A few interested and curious murmurs began to surface amongst the crowd. Marcia noticed Crow’s smirk was a bit bigger now as Cayde continued, “And as you can see, I’m still in my glorious Hunter gear so I won. And this mysterious stranger here was the loser.” The masked Hunter took a few steps forward until they were beside Cayde. “Who wants to see who it is?” Cayde asked, followed by a massive cheer from the crowd. “Wait. Don’t tell me it’s…” Ikora began but before she could finish her sentence, the Hunter removed their helmet. When they did, the crowd went crazy.
There stood, in full customised Hunter gear, was Rae Drakyx.
“What?!” Blaze exclaimed with a shocked smile while Marcia laughed while clapping her hands, “Cayde, you mad lad!” “This cannot be happening.” Ikora was a mixture of shock and impressed while Zavala was floored. “You’re joking!” Adam placed his hands on his head while giving a terrified laugh while Saladin and Osiris seemed just as shocked. Rae spun around, showing off her armour. It had the same colour palette as her Warlock robes. The cloak was blue with a purple rim and the Warlock symbol at the end. She wore boots that matched her jacket and a piece of fabric on the front that bore the Hunter and the Stasis symbol along with a leather pouch strapped to her right leg. “So, for the last few months,” Cayde continued, “Rae has been training in secret to be a Hunter fit for the Guardian Games. Only one other person was in on it: a training partner who was also undergoing Hunter training. Ain’t that right, Crow?” Blaze’s head whipped towards Crow who gave a small bow. “You knew?!” Blaze was gobsmacked. “You have no idea how hard it was to keep this a secret for the last few months.” Crow chuckled, “I thought Ikora or Zavala would find out for sure.” “With that said, Rae? Any words?” Cayde handed Rae the mic. She gently tapped the mic before speaking into it, “Warlocks, I hope you’ll forgive me one day…but go Team Hunter!” The Hunters in the crowd began cheering like crazy as Rae handed the mic back to Eva. “Well with that unexpected surprise,” Eva laughed, “Let the games begin!”
As the crowd excitedly dispersed to begin racking up points for their teams, Ikora, Adam and Zavala approached the group of Hunters. “I won’t lie, I’m impressed Cayde.” Ikora began, “More so surprised you were able to keep this a secret for so long.” “Have a little more faith, Ikora.” Cayde replied, “It was easy to keep this one on the down-low.”
“Not true. He kept talking about how eager he was to brag about how he got Rae onto Team Hunter.” Crow smirked.
“H-hey! Whose side are you on?!”
“So, we have the Warlocks having it out for the Hunters, the Hunters getting revenge on the Titans, and the Titans defending their title.” Zavala mused, a small smile on his face, “This year’s games will definitely be interesting.”
“That in mind, don’t think the Hunters have a leg up because Rae’s on your side.” Adam folded his arms with a grin, “The Titans are still gonna crash through you and win this!”
“Ha! In your dreams, Adam!” Blaze beamed, “This year, the Titan banner will be so low, you’ll have to be in the sewers of the city to see it.”
“I think you’re forgetting something.” Ikora smirked, “Cayde’s stunt has given my Warlocks more of a reason to win: to avenge Rae. They won’t back down to either class.”
“It’s on!”
“Chaos Crew!”
“Wha…?” Marcia glanced at Blaze. “Cayde’s Chaos Crew! It’s the Fireteam name I made up for our group.”
“I…
LOVE IT!
” Cayde exclaimed. “Oh Traveller, what have I gotten myself into...?” Rae shook her head with a smile. “Take it like a Hunter.” Crow chuckled.
“MARCIA!!”
Everyone spun around to see a herd of Guardians surrounding something with a lone Drifter hand waving above them, “Cayde’s got ‘em a lil’ TOO eager to bet this year! A lil’ help?!”
Marcia turned to Cayde while pointing at the herd, “You did this.”
Cayde just gave an innocent shrug as Marcia let out a sigh. “You guys go on ahead. I’ll catch up!” Marcia then began making her way over to the chaos surrounding Drifter, “Alright, you punks, in a line! Don’t make me turn y’all into popsicles!”
“I’m Drifter! I like gettin’ in over my head and getting’ others to bail me out!” Ghost popped up beside Rae who giggled at his impression. “Dude, I cannot get over your Drifter impression. It’s so convincing!” Blaze laughed. “Thank you! I take pride in it.” Ghost replied with a happy wiggle. Cayde turned to Rae, “Crucible, m’lady?”
“Don’t mind if I do. Last one to the hangar buys ramen for the team!” Rae grinned.
“Wouldn’t that make Marcia the one buying?” Crow asked.
“Exactly! Now let’s go!”
To Be Continued…

How did your Guardian get their name(if they didn’t rez with past life momentos): Her name was engraved on the inside of the ring: Blaisel Kiria, my phoenix.

If your Guardian has had any interactions with any civilians (The Last City/The Farm), Eliksni, Cabal, Vex, Hive, Taken, Scorn, Rouge Lightbearers, or Iron Lords/War Lords(if your Guardian is an Old Light) tell us about it!: Her first strange interaction was with Marcia in the Cosmodrome while prepping to enter the Black Garden. Back then, Marcia ran a group of rogue Lightbearers called the Umbrialyx and a few of them had been causing trouble for other Guardians. Marcia was the first rogue lightbearer Blaze had ever met.
Does your Guardian have any unconventional allies or connections(By Vanguard standards): Blaze and Fireteam Paralight are allies with the House of Light
How does your Guardian feel about themselves or others using Stasis: While she herself has mixed feelings on it, Blaze trusts Rae to teach others to wield it.
Did they run The Last Wish raid? How did they react to seeing a live Ahamkara a.k.a Riven: Blaze wanted Riven dead after realising it was her controlling Uldren. It didn’t help that Riven kept using Uldren’s voice while speaking to her
Did they run The Deep Stone Crypt raid? How did they react to the Crypt and seeing Exo Eliskni: Concern. Blaze was worried that if the Eliksni were able to get their hands on this tech, what’s to stop the Cabal or other species from using it?
Is your Guardian from D1? How did they react to seeing Taniks alive once again: She just looked at Atraks-1 and said, “Put. Him. Back. Now.”
Where did they go and what did they do during The Red War: Blaze went MIA a few weeks before Ghaul’s invasion. She had received visions of Uldren’s death, unaware of the events that would happen beforehand, and left to attempt to prevent it. She spent the years in the Tangled Shore as Jett, a mercenary for hire which served as Blaze’s alter ego.
Here are some characters that are either polarizing or have created a strong enough mass emotion within the community. What opinion does your Guardian hold on each of them(These are only a handful of characters!)>>>
Osiris, First Warlock Vanguard, originally exiled: Blaze doesn’t know Osiris as well as Rae. She respects him (well, as much respect as Blaze can give) but tended to join Sagira in roasting him.
Eris Morn, Bane of the Swarm: Blaze has made it her personal mission to make Eris laugh. No luck so far, but she isn’t giving up. Eris finds her annoying but tolerates her.
Cayde-6, Sixth Hunter Vanguard: Never leave these two alone. They will cause chaos. It’s inevitable.
Ikora Rey, Second Warlock Vanguard: Probably the only Guardian Blaze fears, aside from Rae. She considers Ikora a badass as long as her shotgun isn’t pointed in her direction
Commander Zavala, Second Titan Vanguard: Blaze does respect and listen to Zavala, but she won’t be torn apart if she needs to go behind his back to get stuff again
Saint-14, legendary Titan, First Titan Vanguard: Blaze thinks Saint is awesome. She loves helping feed the birds and hearing about his past adventures.
Lord Saladin, Iron Banner handler, One of the last remaining Iron Lords: Blaze has been punted off the Iron Temple more than any Guardian. Enough said.
Lord Shaxx, Crucible handler, Hero of Twilight Gap, living megaphone: While Blaze favours Gambit, she likes to take part in the Crucible every now and again. She likes to challenge Shaxx to arm wrestles (which she never wins) and making bets.
The Crow, New Light, Ex-Enforcer to The Spider: Blaze is deeply in love with Crow. After receiving the vision of Uldren becoming a Guardian, she knew that he wouldn’t be the same person. Yet she found herself falling in love with Crow for himself, not Uldren. The two make an unstoppable force on the battlefield and a chaotic, sassy duo off it.
The Spider, The Shore’s Only Law, founder of “House” Spider: Blaze never trusted Spider. When she was living on the Tangled Shore as Jett, she only viewed him as a client. After finding out about him rigging Glint’s shell, she wanted to burn him to ashes on the spot but was calmed by Rae. She took great joy in seeing Spider’s reaction to Rae freeing Crow from his grasp.
Uldren Sov, Prince of the Reef, Master of Crows: In her past life, Blaze was assigned as one of Uldren’s crows. Uldren helped Blaze learn to control her strange fire powers and the two became close before eventually falling in love. Despite her becoming a Guardian, he was relieved upon hearing that Blaze remembered him. When Blaze received the vision of his death, she was willing to abandon the Tower and travel the system trying to find him. But after learning of what he did to Cayde, she knew there was no saving him. After the Voice of Riven’s defeat, Uldren requested he die at Blaze’s hand, which she hesitantly agreed to.
Mara Sov, Queen of the Reef, Queen of the Awoken, Ex-Kell of Wolves: In her past life, Blaze had full respect for Mara. After becoming a Guardian, she maintained that respect to a point until Uldren’s death. After seeing Mara’s indifferent reaction to her brother’s demise, Blaze lost most of her respect for her but maintained some of it due to her friendship with Petra.
Variks, the Loyal, founder of House Judgement: Before his disappearance during the Prison of Elders incident, Blaze got along with Variks (when he wasn’t asking to ‘examine’ her ship). She trusts Variks and sees him as a wise ally.
Mithrax, the Forsaken, Kell of Light, founder of House Light: Blaze trusts Mithrax, stating anyone Rae deems as an ally is an ally of hers.
The Exo Stranger/Elizabeth “Elsie” Bray, Granddaughter of Clovis I and Sister to Ana Bray: Blaze is mostly indifferent to Elsie but trusts her as much as Rae does.
Eramis, of House Salvation, Kell of Darkness: Blaze was more than happy to help take down Eramis, seeing how much damage she was causing.
Empress Caiatl of the Cabal Imperial Empire: After hearing about Zavala’s meeting with her, these were Blaze’s words, “If she told me to bow, I woulda just approach her with Adam, Rae, and a list of every major enemy we’ve laid the smackdown on and say ‘wanna try that again?’”
Taniks the Scarred, the Perfected, the Abomination, the Shadow Thief: “I think I know how Eliksni feel about Guardians now...”
The Darkness is fast approaching. How is your Guardian handling it: Blaze tries to keep her happy and confident façade up for others but is secretly afraid of losing someone again.
And finally, does your Guardian have any advice for any New Lights: Have fun with it! But also watch your teammates’ backs. Guardians work best in packs!

How did your Guardian get their name(if they didn't rez with past life momentos): Her name was engraved on the front of her journal: Raegalia Drakyx. She came up with Rae as a nickname
Going back to your Guardian's lore book, what would be some some quotes or passages from their book: “I find myself constantly thinking about this one line I tend to hear over and over. Did your Guardian go explore first before going to The Last City? If so, where to: Nope. She and Ghost found a jumpship and went straight to the city
What was their reaction to first seeing The Last City: Awestruck. She thought the City was the most beautiful place she had ever seen
Is your Guardian a part of a clan: No
If your Guardian would have a quote as a flavor text for a weapon and/or piece of armor, what would they be: “Don’t view your power as a means of destruction. See it as a means of preserving life.”
Marcia was the first rogue lightbearer Rae had ever met.
Does your Guardian have any unconventional allies or connections(By Vanguard standards): Rae and Fireteam Paralight are allies with the House of Light after she saved Mithrax from a Hive Knight on Titan and then met Tif, a human Titan who was also a Captain of House Light, a few years later when helping them secure a generator
How does your Guardian feel about themselves or others using Stasis: Rae understands the risks of using Stasis, which is why she suggested to Zavala that instead of outlawing Stasis, have her teach Guardians how to use it properly without risking corruption
Did they run The Last Wish raid? How did they react to seeing a live Ahamkara a.k.a Riven: Awe. She had heard of them beforehand and now to see one in person, she almost didn’t want to kill it.
Did they run The Deep Stone Crypt raid? How did they react to the Crypt and seeing Exo Eliskni: Disappointment. She had really hoped that no one would continue Clovis’s awful experiments. Seeing the Exo Eliksni just made her hate the House of Salvation even more.

Where did they go and what did they do during The Red War: Rae fell from Ghaul’s ship after losing her Light, gaining the scar over her eye in the process. A few months later, she regained her Light via the shard of the Traveler and led the revolt against Ghaul after reuniting the Vanguard.
Here are some characters that are either polarizing or have created a strong enough mass emotion within the community. What opinion does your Guardian hold on each of them(These are only a handful of characters!)>>>
Osiris, First Warlock Vanguard, originally exiled: Rae looks up to Osiris and admires his dedication to his work and beliefs. She definitely sees the similarities between him and Ikora. Despite the light ribbing she tends to give him (he calls him grumpy Tower grandpa), she respects him. Though she does wish he would ask Saint on a date already. “You broke time to save him, for Traveler’s sake, at least bring him out for dinner!”
Eris Morn, Bane of the Swarm: The first person she met when she arrived in the Tower. Rae respects Eris’s wisdom and knowledge as well as her determination. Though Rae does wish she’d tone down the Vanguard roasts a bit (her self-confidence is bad enough as it is).
Cayde-6, Sixth Hunter Vanguard: Rae loves Cayde with every ounce of her being and more. She’s had a crush on him since working with him during Oryx’s invasion but never acted upon it, despite her teammates constant teasing. Seeing him die in front of her tore her apart. Thankfully she able to save him thanks to her Paralian heritage, and confessed to him after she returned from the Reef. The two have been near inseparable since. Cayde’s nickname for her in Sunrae while her nickname for him is Wildcard.
Ikora Rey, Second Warlock Vanguard: Rae looks up to Ikora the most. She’s trained under Ikora since she was a Kinderguardian and has flourished since. A lot of Guardians who know Rae say she is a mini-Ikora, from her witty comebacks, to her terrifying demeanor when angered.
Commander Zavala, Second Titan Vanguard: Rae respects Zavala as a fellow Vanguard, commander, and friend, but she’s not shy to speak up if she feels that something isn’t right...or to go behind his back to do an unorthodox mission.
Saint-14, legendary Titan, First Titan Vanguard: If Osiris is the grumpy grandpa, Saint’s the fun grandpa. Rae enjoys Saint’s company and finds he brings an air of liveliness to the Tower since his return.
Lord Saladin, Iron Banner handler, One of the last remaining Iron Lords: Rae respects Saladin but wishes that, while she agrees it isn’t always the answer, he would give diplomacy a chance instead of assuming every enemy has to be killed.
Lord Shaxx, Crucible handler, Hero of Twilight Gap, living megaphone: Like Saint, Rae enjoys Shaxx’s company and hearing stories of Ikora’s Crucible days. Rae frequents the Crucible in hopes of one day beating Ikora’s kill streak record and Shaxx supports her endeavors (when Ikora isn’t listening of course). Though he does have a bet with Cayde as to who’d win in a 1v1 fight. Shaxx’s glimmer is on Ikora but only because Cayde already called dibs on Rae.
The Crow, New Light, Ex-Enforcer to The Spider: Despite the initial shock of seeing him again, Rae quickly warmed up to Crow and began helping him train his Light. She was more than happy to hear that he wanted to be a Guardian. He honestly reminded her of her Kinderguardian self: unsure, curious, and wanting to help.
The Spider, The Shore's Only Law, founder of "House" Spider: Rae trust’s Spider less than Drifter, and that’s saying something! She was wary of him during her first visit to the Tangled Shore, but after finding out what he did to Glint to keep Crow in the Reef, she was ready to risk the consequences and go ham on him. Rae is usually quite patient but Spider has tested those limits too many times.
Uldren Sov, Prince of the Reef, Master of Crows: Rae and Uldren didn’t like each other at all from the moment they met. But after Blaze regained the memories of her past life with Uldren, they agreed to tolerate each other for her sake. When he killed Cayde, Rae was ready to go to war with the Reef. She wanted to be the one to end him so badly but when he requested Blaze be the last one he saw, she put her hatred aside to grant his request, allowing Blaze to be the one to end him.
Mara Sov, Queen of the Reef, Queen of the Awoken, Ex-Kell of Wolves: Rae has mixed feelings about Mara. She has a certain level of respect for the Awoken queen but doesn’t agree with most of her ruling methods and, while she’ll never say it aloud, Rae sees her as a coward.
Variks, the Loyal, founder of House Judgement: When Variks isn’t trying to get his hands on Ghost or her ship, Rae respects Variks. While she does recognise that Variks had a hand in the Prison of Elders incident, she doesn’t hold him directly accountable for Cayde’s death.
Mithrax, the Forsaken, Kell of Light, founder of House Light: Rae views Mithrax as a powerful ally and friend. They have a mutual respect for each other and have helped each other on a couple of occasions.
The Exo Stranger/Elizabeth "Elsie" Bray, Granddaughter of Clovis I and Sister to Ana Bray: While Rae doesn’t know much about Elsie, she does trust her. She was the one who pointed Rae and her Fireteam towards the Black Garden and thus put them on their path to becoming one of the most well-known Fireteams in the Tower. Elsie was also the one who helped teach Rae how to use Stasis.
Eramis, of House Salvation, Kell of Darkness: Rae initially wanted to resolve the conflict with House Salvation peacefully but Eramis proved unwilling to listen and was the first to actually break the limit on Rae’s patience, the latter killing Eramis with no mercy.
Empress Caiatl of the Cabal Imperial Empire: While she finds Caiatl aggravating with her views and methods of ruling, Rae is relieved that she’s not as creepy as her father.
Taniks the Scarred, the Perfected, the Abomination, the Shadow Thief: “DIE ALREADY!!!”
The Darkness is fast approaching. How is your Guardian handling it: Rae is becoming more anxious about the Darkness’s arrival and is having self-doubts, but is keeping a brave face for everyone else’s sake.
And finally, does your Guardian have any advice for any New Lights: Be yourself, do what you think is right, and never give up!

Let's go in the garden. You'll find something waiting, Right there where you left it lying upside down. When you finally find it, you'll see how it's faded. The underside is lighter when you turn it around.

A quick piece I did of Blaze and Crow for Crimson Days. Ever since Season of the Hunt began, I’ve associated this song with them.

Season of the Hunt Finale: A True Hunter
Summary:
It’s finally over. The Celebrant is defeated. Spider no longer has a hold on Crow. The only left question is now what?
Tumblr media
Previous Part: Here
Spider let out a small growl as he heard the laughter of the four Guardians outside the lair. He muttered a curse in Eliksni as he sat back in his chair.
“You kiss your mother with that mouth?”
Spider’s attention snapped to his left as Marcia decloaked, leaning against a pile of crates that were stacked against the wall. The guards went to raise their spears, but Spider raised a hand, stopping them. “What do you want, Marcia?” Spider growled, “I’m not in the mood for your ‘antics’.”
“I’ll say.” Marcia chuckled, “I just snuck in to see the end result of Paralight’s one-on-one with the Celebrant. Y’know, you always talk about how Drifter and I can’t seem to keep our mouths shut…and yet it was your big mouth that got your ‘little bird’ taken away. “Anything in the lair.” Honestly, how did you think that would end?”
Spider narrowed his eyes at Marcia as she stood up straight, “But if you want me to be honest here…I came here to give you a titbit of advice.”
“And that is…?”
Marcia’s expression turned serious, “Don’t underestimate Rae. She ain’t the same Guardian that walked in here two years ago.”
“What do you mean?”
“Well first off, she seems to be taking my advice. She’s started making her own rules and is starting to find things out for herself instead of taking the Vanguard’s word for granted. She’s beginning to think for herself. Secondly, and honestly more seriously, she’s got a new trick now.”
“Yes, yes, I’m aware of Stasis.” Spider replied dismissively.
“Not Stasis.”
Spider seemed intrigued as Marcia continued, “She calls it Darknebula. And from what I can tell, it works in the opposite way to Starlight.”
“Explain.”
“Starlight is triggered by the desire to protect and preserve life. Darknebula works in the opposite way: it’s triggered by the desire to kill and destroy it.” Marcia explained, “Basically, if someone was to, oh I don’t know…maybe anger her to the point of her wanting to completely annihilate them – whether she realises it or not – she becomes a feral killing machine that doesn’t stop until the source of that desire is dead. This is a warning, Spider. If she’s done following the Vanguard’s rules and you push her too far, it’s game over for you. I’ve seen that form first-hand when she was up against Eramis. Now the kell of Salvation is an ice sculpture on Europa.”
Spider just hmphed in response, “If she kills me, she loses her best ally on the Shore.”
Marcia laughed, “Oho, really? I look forward to seeing you try to tell that to a feral, acting-on-instinct Rae who has lost all sense of logic and reasoning. Hell, I’ll be impressed if you get more than a word out!” Marcia began to walk out, “Like I said, just a lil’ bit of advice for ya. Take it if ya want. See ya!”
Spider grumbled as he leaned back in his chair, watching the rogue leave.
“I hate that Hunter…”
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It’s been a few weeks since the High Celebrants defeat. Spider had sent an engineer to remove the explosives from Glint’s shell, officially ending his hold on Crow and his Ghost. However, there were still remaining Wrathborns lurking in the Shore and the Dreaming City, so Crow had remained in the lair to aid Paralight in wiping them out. The last of them had finally been wiped out and the cryptoliths had begun to decay without the Celebrant maintaining them. The hunt had finally come to a close.
Crow leaned on his workbench, deep in thought, but was pulled out by his vision suddenly going dark as two hands covered his eyes from behind.
“Guess who!”
“Rae?” Crow guessed with a smirk, “No, wait. It’s Marcia!”
“I don’t smell that bad!”
“Ha! I know it’s you, Blaze.”
Blaze removed her hands from Crow’s eyes and plopped her head on his shoulder, “Yup!” Crow poked Blaze’s forehead, “Bang.”
“Gah! Crow has killed the Celebrant! Curse you, Guardiaaaaans!” Blaze dramatically sunk to the floor while Crow laughed at her performance before motioning to her armour, “New look?”
Blaze’s usual blue and gold armour had been swapped for red and gold armour, a bit similar to her very first set. Her cloak, gloves and skirt looked like fiery feathers with her boots matching the upper half of her armour. “Yeah. I’d been sticking with blue and gold for a while now.” Blaze replied, “Figured I should switch it up a little.”
“It suits you.” Crow smiled. “Thanks.” Blaze grinned, a small blush appearing on her face, as the two leaned against the table with a sigh. “I suppose this is it.” Crow said with a sense of finality, “Time to say goodbye to the Reef. To the only home I've ever known.”
“Yeah…” Blaze sighed, “It’s weird. It’s been three months, but it feels like only a few days ago we met on the moon. Now it’s over.” The two stood in comfortable silence for a moment before Blaze spoke up again, “So what are you going to do now?”
“I’ve given it some thought.” Crow replied, “Osiris actually came by earlier and we talked for a while about my plans for the future. I told him I'd considered exploring somewhere remote, like Venus, but he suggested a different course."
“What’s that?”
Crow held his head up high, “I’m coming to the Tower.”
Blaze’s eyes widened as she stood up straight, “F-for real?”
Crow nodded with a smile, “People may judge the man I was, but I refuse to cower in the shadow of his legacy. I'm a Guardian. I need to act like one. I also talked to Rae about it. She suggested joining a Fireteam and…I’ve decided to join Paralight.”
Blaze’s eyes lit up at this before lunging at Crow, wrapping her arms around him as she let out a squeal of delight. Crow stumbled back a bit before steadying himself, letting out a chuckle as he returned the hug. “That’s great! You won’t regret it, I promise!”
“I know I won’t. I’m still a bit anxious about showing my face in the Tower, but I think I’ll be okay with you and the others.” Crow cupped Blaze’s cheek and gave her a brief kiss before touching his forehead to hers, “I love you.”
“I love you too, Crow.”
 The two pulled away upon hearing footsteps approach the workshop. A moment later, Rae and Adam entered wearing new armour of their own. Rae had cut her hair, so it looked similar to her Kinderguardian hairstyle. She now wore pink, purple and blue robes with the Stasis symbol on the skirt and metal, layered shoulder pads. She also wore a black and white bond that had a spade projection. Adam wore armour that was several shades of white and blue with a white furry collar. “Looks like you’re not the only one with a new look.” Crow noted as the two Guardians entered. “Yeah.” Rae laughed, rubbing the back of her neck, “I figured since I’m the Stasis Vanguard now, I should look like it.”
Crow turned to Adam, “And you?”
“Everyone was getting new looks, and I didn’t want to feel left out.” Adam shrugged. “Suuuure. It TOTALLY isn’t to impress a certain Awoken in the Dreaming City or anything.” Blaze chuckled. “Hardy har.” Adam rolled his eyes. Rae laughed at the two’s banter before turning to Crow, “So, you ready to go?”
“Almost. Osiris wanted to meet me before I arrive.” Crow replied, “Said he had something to give me.”
Rae nodded in understanding, “We’ll meet you in the Tower courtyard then. See you starside, Guardian.”
“See you starside.”
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“What do you think Osiris wanted to give Crow?”
Rae stood in the courtyard with her Fireteam and the rest of the Vanguard. “If I had to make a guess…” Ikora gave a small smirk, “A lengthy lecture on the importance of being a Guardian.”
“That tracks!” Rae giggled. “Ikora had to get it from somewhere!” Cayde added, earning a laugh from Blaze. Ikora glared at Cayde and Blaze, who ducked behind Adam for protection from any potential incoming nova bombs.
“Oh helvete nej! I am not being your meat shield!” Adam walked away from the cowering Hunters.
“H-hey! What happened to Titans protecting others?” Cayde stammered.
“Not from angry Ikoras! I doubt even Shaxx would stand in the way of Ikora when she’s angry.”
“VERY TRUE!!” Shaxx yelled from the other side of the courtyard.
As the group continued their banter, Blaze noticed a figure emerge from the hangar entrance walking towards them. There was Crow, now wearing a short black and white cloak with a white crow displayed on it. Under it, his usual black scale-like armour was now white along with matching boots and now wore grey trousers. “How do I look?” Crow asked as he approached Blaze. “Like a true Hunter.” She smiled. Zavala stepped forward, “Welcome to the Tower, Guardian.”
“Thank you. I won’t let you down.” Crow nodded.
“Well before we do anything…” Cayde began, a serious tone to his voice, “There’s one important thing we need to do.”
“True, true.” Blaze agreed. “W-what? What’s wrong?” Crow asked, glancing between the two Hunters with concern.
“…INITIATION!!!” Cayde and Blaze yelled in unison as they both grabbed the arms of a very confused Crow and began leading him towards Tower’s Spicy Ramen. “We better go make sure they don’t cause trouble.” Rae chuckled. “I feel like that’s always a given when it comes to those two.” Ikora replied as she began walking back to her post.
 The rest of the evening was spent at Spicy Ramen, celebrating Crow joining the ranks of the Guardians. Crow still thought the noodles looked like worms but eventually gave in after some peer pressure from Blaze and Cayde and ended up enjoying it. They shared stories of their own embarrassing Kinderguardian moments, from Cayde falling off a cliff moments after his first revival to Paralight getting caught in a Benny Hills-style case with two minotaurs and a flock of harpies on Venus after running out of ammo while their Ghosts continued their scan. They also told stories of their greatest victories such as Adam’s infamous swordfight with Crota after Rae and Blaze were downed. Blaze and Crow joined in by telling them about how they both fended off Savathûn’s forces while trying to restore Hawkmoon. Slowly, Crow felt the anxiety of arriving at the Tower wash away. He knew there would still be Guardians who would hate him for his past self’s mistakes, despite what the Vanguard would say to them. He knew of the possible dangers awaiting him with the Darkness looming throughout the system. He knew of the certain chaos running with this trio of misfits would bring. But right now, he didn’t care. In that moment, he was surrounded by friends – his friends – laughing and sharing stories together. They knew of what his old self did, he could see it in their eyes, yet they still accepted him for who he was now. He knew who he was. And he knew who he would always be.
A Hunter.
A Guardian.
 Crow.
 End of Season of the Hunt.
